The old thread hadn't been updated in quite some time, so I decided to make a new one. If you happen to see a sale not listed in the OP, go ahead and post it and I will be sure it's added. The same goes for anything listed that has expired as most sales have no set time frame, let me know and I will remove expired sales. Thanks!

I'm not sure which of these have already been posted, but here are some new sales on Google Play:

Also, for people who don't follow the Humble thread, the following were added the the Humble Mobile Bundle 6:

  • Carmageddon
  • Time Surfer
  • Llamas with Hats: Cruise Catastrophe

I didn't realize that Republique had come out on Amazon a few weeks ago. Looks like it's Kindle Fire only. Not on the Play Store, but that'll probably change in a few weeks.
It isn't compatiable with my old 2012 Kindle Fire HD.

TECHNICAL NOTES:
• This app is only compatible with the following Amazon devices:
• Kindle Fire HDX 7
• Kindle Fire HDX 8.9
• Amazon Fire Phone
• Close all running apps to improve performance and stability.

Ah well, I have the paid app, but I don't play enough on my phone to re-install/set up again.
I'm the same. I bought the Sixaxis app some time ago and it does work but I don't play seriously enough for me to jump through all those hoops all over again on my newer devices.

There really needs to be a cross platform higher res game creation software like RPGMaker. People are always asking for those games on other platforms and they could do it on something like Unity but then that would rewuire actual game development talent.

Maybe Kemco should make a generic jrpg for android construction kit. :p

Carmageddon is free from Google Play for today. Because paid apps can't go free in the Play Store this is a promo version that gets posted from time to time and removed when the sale is over. You can grab it now and redownload from your history even when it's not available from the store.

is an  IPAD MINI worth 199. can you download games off  google play or is it like  the amazon fire  meaning you can only  download apple crap

Your asking if you can run games designed for one operating system on a completely different operating system? No, you cant do that

You are not limited to 'apple crap', they do have an entire store of things not made by apple

Almost everything that's available on Google Play for Android is available for iPads (iOS). Granted, that's not true for every possible app out there, but a good number of them. If it's the first gen iPad Mini though, I would pass. My household has two of them, and they basically have the same hardware as the iPad 2, which is severely outdated compared to its full-size counterparts. Some of the more current titles have quite a bit of lag (Hearthstone, The Room 2, and PvZ 2 come to mind) on those machines. The newer Mini can be had on sale for $100 more every so often (BB last week), and it's such a huge upgrade over the 1st Gen that I can't in good conscience recommend the 1st anymore.

You guys are talking to slidecage. Good luck having any of what you say get through.
Known troll?

how would i know what Gen i got. Target has them on sale this week for 199. Thinking of price matching at best buy

I too was thinking about getting one of those cheap iPads since I only ever had a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, but I can't say I could get an Apple tab now since Android is so much more versatile. Once you have Bluetooth controller support, it's hard to go back. I know Apple's store has a better selection of games, and the only thing I would want that I can't get on Google Play is the translated Shin Megami Tensei port. I've been playing Soul Calibur on my Galaxy Tab and on my Nvidia Shield Portable and loving it. Just downloaded GTA III this morning and I'm planning to replay that for the first time since the PS2 days. So, I can't see an iPad mini getting too much use.

It depends on what your plans for use are obviously. I like both android and ios, but for a tablet I use an ipad air, for a phone nexus5. Android has the customization down, and for a phone that is exactly what I want, to be able to customize it all to hell to see exactly what I want, where, when, and how.

However for a tablet I like to use it more for games, and for the games I like apple has a much better selection (strategy, card, board, and casual puzzlish stuff). Also I use it for music oriented stuff (which is why I got the air for the processing power) and android cant even come close to what ios has in this regard at this point

There are definitely points when using the ipad though that I think, 'why the hell does it do this, a simple option would let me do so much more'. I.e. clicking an email link automatically brings up the mail client, which is all fine and dandy except thats linked to my work email and I use the gmail app for my own email, and there is no way to change that behavior unless you switch to use chrome as your browser. And no chat heads for fb messaging so you always have to switch apps when a message arrives.  Simple stuff like that that android does so well would drive me up the wall using ios as a phone

Is the new TMNT game Kindle only? It does not show as working on any Android device that I own.
I wish they would make this information more readily available on the store page for a game.

Some games say -Kindle version, but not all. Could be an easy option under the platform category: Android - Kindle Only.

My Note 3 could easily run most of that stuff. You want to have an Android app store, Amazon? Make your options available for Android, not just Kindle.

After reading up and seeing some reviews, I'm really liking the new nVidia Shield Tablet between the stock Android, mini-HDMI to TV, and microSD slots. Except Amazon isn't selling it directly, and third parties are asking at least $65 more. Some have the controller at $120. Eesh! I hope Amazon stocks it themselves soon.

They do. They sell all Nvidia Shield products, they are just out of the new tablet and controllers because the demand is so high. They had them in stock when they first came out.
Interesting. I was unaware. Their deliberate decision to not sell iPads (or other notable tablets like the Nexus 7) directly lead to my logical extrapolation.

You're both right.

Amazon itself doesnt sell the nVida Shield. (Only sold by third party sellers).

So, it's for sale on the Amazon website, but you're not buying it -from- Amazon.

$349
Amazon did have it, sold by Amazon, the first few days. They sold out, and probably don't know when they'll get the next shipment, so they currently removed the sold by amazon listing. They actually even had it as a pre-order the week before it released.

See what TwelveVolt posted below, which is what I originally said. Trust me. I looked at both sold by Amazon a week or two back and they were in stock and MSRP. They are just sold out at the moment. You can buy the old Nvidia 5'' game tablet directly from Amazon right now if you want. And the case for the controller as well.

Can anyone recommend the Nvidia Shield (Portable not tablet)? I've been thinking on and off for the past couple of months on getting one and now I'm back on that idea again.

I like it. Build quality is solid. It works with a lot of games and what it doesn't you can setup on screen macros to emulate touch controls. They're constantly updating and adding features too.

The Steam streaming works well in the house on wifi. You're supposed to be able to do it outside the house now too with general internet access but I haven't tried that yet.

Battery life is much better than I would have expected too.

To add to the Nvidia Shield streaming, I have used it a few times connected to my TV. It worked well for 2 players but the shield does not support 2 players so I had to use 3 controllers (1 PS3 controller for controlling the shield remotely and 2 wireless Xbox 360 controllers that were connected to my PC). I never tried the Nyko controllers as I heard they were junk. Rooting is helpful for copying larger games to the microSD card and needed for using the PS3 controller. Rooting is pretty easy and will void the warranty but the forum rep said Nvidia will help with hardware issues if it is not blatant abuse such as overclocking damage and whatnot.

Internet streaming requires 5 Mb/s minimum upload and a fair amount of open ports so it won't be for everyone.

Playing zen pinball games is so much nicer with a controller...sorry touch controls.

I've had mine since a few months after launch, and I just started really using about a month ago, and I'm loving it. You really have to decide what your needs and wants are, but for the price currently, it's a really solid value.

Check out the reviews over at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814998077&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=PPSSJJVKBAOALF-_-14-998-077-_-Product

You won't find a more highly rated android gaming device ANYWHERE!

Not a fantastic bargain, but the Season 1 pass for Pinball Arcade is on sale for $14.99 including on Amazon Appstore so you can finally rid yourself of those pesky coins. It's 22 tables including Star Trek and Twilight Zone, making that .68 per table. Not too bad.

When the Zen Pinball tables were on sale from Amazon, it came out to .69 and 1.40 after the coins rebate for unlicensed and licensed tables respectively.

Edit: Twilight Zone, not Terminator 2. T2 is Season 2.

Oh, I would be so psyched if one of the next games added was the last chapter DLC for House of the Dead. Been wanting that for a while now. Guess I'm in for a BTA.
