 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

This is what I asked him yesterday about it
"I have a question I noticed that on your cowboy bebop remix listing you have put in the description that it is an authorized copy and have taken a pic of the dvd seal but on this gurren lagann you failed to mention that it is an authentic or authorized bandai release and no pic of the seal.so I wanted to ask if this gurren lagann authentic U.S release. Thank you

this was his response

Hey there, Gurren Lagann comes with the seal as well, no worries!

Best Buy has a lot of other titles on sale. Attack on Titan regular is $24.99 each, Yu-Gi-Oh classic is $20 a season, most Sentai Blu-rays are $32-$35, and many Naruto Shippuden sets are about $22. All told, BB has 378 anime titles discounted.
Is there a list or any way to sort it all out on their website?

So take it or leave it. So many anime legends bootlegs out there that you can't get any of them for fear of getting a bootleg and I really don't feel like spending a fortune on the re-releases

I'm conflicted about the stuff currently on sale, namely Attack on Titan. Buy them now, or wait for what I hope will be a price of 19.99 (maybe lower?) for each set during Black Friday or in the 12+ sale....

This is how I see it. During black Friday / 12 days it will surely go at least as low as it is now--and possibly even lower. With that in mind, waiting shouldn't hurt you any, and could end up saving you some money.

I really need to stop buying anime right now. If this 12 days of sale and Black Friday stuff is as good as you guys are priming it to be then I'll be sure to pick up some great stuff. Until then however I have to resist the constant temptation......

I normally buy enough during these sales to last me all year until the next one. They're that good.

Last year the best sales were on Nozomi, Discotek, and NIS America stuff. FUNi, Viz, and Sentai stuff wasn't all that hot aside from older OOP titles.

Very good sales indeed. Will have to hold myself off by three weeks or so. Hopefully hastings and the have nots also match up with some killer coupons

Bayonetta and One Piece Z are $17.99 at BB. Cheaper then Amazon.
Possibility of Amazon price matching. Not sure what your BB's are like but the odds of mine having One Piece or Bayonetta are slim to none. I don't even watch One Piece so that would be out of the equation but Bayonetta is enticing to say the least.

Count me in as another who buys anime only during Rightstuf's 12 Days (and more) sale. I know I'm picking up Battle of Gods then; anything else will be based on recommendations.

Both are new releases so check in the new release stand. Even my tiny Best Buy with its nonexistent anime section still has room on the new release stand,

Great show and adaptation of the light novels. Definitely leaves a desire for a second season since things get better after the events of Season 1.

Man I got lucky as hell today at a local used shop and scored a mint Region A Ghost in the Shell 2 Innocence Blu for $12.  Also picked up the High School of the Dead OVA blu for $8.  I wish I could find the Black Lagoon OVA for around the same price.  They also had the Evangelion Perfect Collection for $60, but I passed on that since I have the Platinum Collection.

The odds of finding decent anime in a thrift store is incredibly low.
especially at the thrift store I work at as I will buy it before you ever see it. for example I bought the sailor moon super S movie last week for $2 (just now looked it up and saw it was worth mentioning at that price)

not that I have had a lot of luck at work I've only managed to buy 8 or so anime series in the 18 months I have been there.

Not some bad prices on the Best Buy sale. Perhaps I will stop by some time this week to check in-store. I already have most of the items on sale, but wouldn't mind snagging the Dragonball Z box-sets. The Devil is a Part-Timer is also worth picking up, a very funny series.

The holiday Right-Stuf sale is definitely worth waiting for. I'm not sure Attack on Titan will be any lower during that sale, but it is possible. If you really want to save on that series, you would wait for a full-season re-release. It's Funimation, and it's insanely popular. So a full-season box-set down the line is VERY likely.

For the holiday Right-Stuf sales, it's much more common to see the year+ items on sale, as well as any older stock that they are looking to clear out. It's the perfect time to grab series that are a few years old for rock-bottom prices. And they usually put a few of the newer items on sale in order to draw customers in. They're very clever about how they handle those sales. I normally find several hundred dollars of material to snag. It will probably be a little lighter this year, just because my collection is already pretty large.

How is Devil is a part timer?
If there is any one series that has recently been released that I suggest to people it is this one. I got the LE for $20 so I can't complain.
Great series and I agree to short but it kind of sets it up for a Season 2 maybe.

Yu-Gi-Oh for $20 at BB is mighty tempting, especially since I know I've seen S1 and S2 there when I've browsed before.

On the other hand, Black Friday is so close.

Do kids series get marked down that much on BF? I know traditional anime and TV shows do, but most stores consider Yu-Gi-Oh to be a children's show, which rarely get marked down.

im not seeing this at all, the site only shows season 3 for 20 but the rest are 25.

i consider Digimon to pretty much be a kids show, in the sane regard i mean, and Amazon marked them down in a lightning sale. so there is a chance, especially since they were put out by the same company.

I ordered One Piece: Film Z from Bestbuy.com, paying with a $10 certificate and GC. Strong World was great, and I don't see Film Z getting much cheaper (maybe $14.99, but I don't think Strong World has even gone that low) later on.

I feel bad that I got into One Piece via the 4kids version. I remember them showing an hour every weekend and then when I saw the real version my mind was blown. That was like 2005? 2006?

Kids these days really got it easy in terms of watching anime... even legally. I'm floored that some guys devote themselves to the now crazy slow pacing of Toonami's anime block rather than marathoning all of it on Hulu/CR/Netflix.
