 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

All 5 volumes from Aniplex are available now at Rightstuf for $49.98 for each volume.

Is that how they are packaged? That is retarded.

Still not paying $250 for a show that's nearly 10 years old, no matter how good it is.  Check that, no show less than 100 episodes.

It's Aniplex. What isn't retarded about them. Going to cost me about 125 for Fate Stay Zero and maybe triple that for Unlimited Blade Works releases
I'm telling you guys: get a region free solution figured out. Unlock a player that can be, get a region free one, rip the files and stream to PS3, etc. Manga has so many Aniplex releases that it's just worth getting a system put in place for this haha.

pretty sure you can ship to store for free if you do an in store order since they consider it a "stock" order
Tried to do that, it wouldn't work. They do not even stock it, so it can't be considered a re-stock or anything like that. None of their stores carry it. Maybe they will later, but not now.

Technically if its part of the system at some point it can be considered stock or sent. My BestBuy still has the first Naruto movie on DVD. When I wanted something that wasn't there I went to the customer service and placed an instore order. It got shipped with truck and had it in a few days. Payed zilch for shipping and got to use my rewards certificates. I guess its hit or miss. Perhaps it was at the warehouse so they can ship it to the store but if it isn't there then you're sol. Either way BestBuy has some sweet deals on anime when you price match and use rewards zone certificates and then 2x rewards points sometimes makes it that much better

So what the hell happened to vol. 1 of the Persona 4 anime? Did it go OoP? It was around $40 for Christmas now all of a sudden it's $300 sealed?! What happened? Will it ever go back to normal?!

I saw someone didn't look at Amazon or EBay and put vol. 2 up for $19 shipped sealed so I just bought that so I'll have that, but now I guess I'll never get Vol. 1.

Its been OoP for a while. I think the news came out that Aniplex was done dealing with Sentai so the value shot up.

Is Persona 4 the anime just a collection of cutscenes from the game
LOL no

Then I may have to watch. I love Persona. Looking forward to 5. DVD for collection 1 sits at 30 on Amazon and DVD collection 1 sits at 10 dollar bid on eBay. If your into Blus then I think I saw C1 for 134.99 on Amazon.

Anyone know if Korra Books 1 & 2 still come with slipcovers anywhere?
I saw a few them at my nearest Target yesterday. They had three or four of each. The fact they had the slip covers still was what made me notice them. Whether they were from a new shipment or the store just had them in the back I don't know, but they weren't there on my last trip.

time to make a trio to target and pick up some korra blu's.

Anyone mind picking me up 1 & 2 if they find them with the slipcovers? I just got Book 3 yesterday and want to finish the rest. I'll pay cost plus shipping plus extra for your time.

Sorry I don't follow much anime outside of mainly ones tied to games & I'm a dub only person so I'm out of my realm here.

Trying to research this seeing Sentai, who I guess made the Persona 4 anime, used to be ADV before restructuring after bankruptcy years ago but can't find the specific beef companies have with selling their products.

Basically am I stuck with at some point soon buying the DVD of Vol. 1 & having the BR of 2, or is there some hope of a reprint of Vol. 1 so I don't have to pay $200 for it?

I know the complete seasons of Yugioh used to cost quite a bit (sold season 3 on Amazon for $200 in Aug. 2013 & bought a Vita plus memory card & Persona 4 with the funds) but then got reprinted in different packaging for the same price. Is it foolish to hope the popularity of Persona, especially with a new game coming & all the spinoffs 4 has had, can lead to demand for a reprint?

I thought there was a reprint coming out. I think Robert of the famous RACS claimed and stated that they're coming soon.

He also claims he cares about the customers, but we all know that's a load of garbage.

This isn't really an exclusive problem with just one specific company, as licensing for anime in the US has always been an issue when it came to blu-rays. Funimation has had its own share of issues with blu-ray licensing too, along with other companies as well.

If I recall correctly, they said it on twitter in reply to someone. If they reprint vol 1 then it probably confirms that we wont get a bilingual complete BD set due to licensing issues. I know the copy I ordered off Frys is still in limbo.

He says alot of stuff. In addition, the anime business is very volatile. Things can literally change over night.

Indeed. However, I feel that we will have a hard road ahead of us (price wise) soon as more and more Japanese companies are getting more directly involved with their international releases.

As did I. I didn't know we were talking about the poor man's format. You know who liked DVD's? JJJJFFFFFLLLOOOOOOOO! ;)

If you must have the blurays then I'd suggest waiting to see if there's a reprint or checking local used dvd stores.

The DVDs on the other hand got a complete collection that has all 26 episodes and is still readily available for around $60 on Rightstuf.

I just bought the vol. 2 Blu Ray for $19 shipped on Amazon (some individual seller didn't research prices well) once I saw via a Twitter follower what happened to vol. 1's price so I'll just keep watching for a reprint or look into getting vol. 1 on DVD. Thanks.

You gotta be in the know to know jfloooooooooooooooooooooooooooo you know. haha :)

Naw, they would go for the BDs
Yep, if you are going to shell out the money might as well go big. Stupid Japanese reverse importing. I wouldn't mind getting Anipex stuff if it wasn't always to stupidly high. I mean look at NISA they can put out a full Season for $50.

I started watching The Testament of Sister New Devil and I like it so far, hope it gets released on Bluray here.
I think it will, all depends on who gets the license for it. I hope it is Funi that way we get an LE for it.

Probably will be picked up by Funimation since its made by the creator of High School DxD
I hope so and if so then it is uncensored. I can't even tell if the show is censored on purpose or not.

If Sentai get KanColle which I think they will or already did, they release an LE for like like HSOTD and Chunibyo.

Just an fyi, but almost all of these prices are the exact same prices they usually are, so if they seem to be underwhelming, that's probably because they are.
