 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Just an fyi, but almost all of these prices are the exact same prices they usually are, so if they seem to be underwhelming, that's probably because they are.
Seems to be the norm now. But at least there are preorders that you can use your GA discount now. Will probably place a LE order later today.

Man, I really regret not getting the BDs for old shows like Gungrave, Chobits, and Basilisk back when they used to go on sale for super cheap frequently. Could of got them for $18 a piece but now they barely budge their $30 price tag.

EDIT: The Ouran High School Host Club BD set was $20 during the Xmas sale right?

$38 Space Dandy for members seems like a pretty good deal.  Hopefully they'll pair it with a Sentai Sale.

$32 for Sankarea's re-release is a lot higher than I was expecting.  Fairy Tail pricing for a show that you released once and watched it flop around seems overly ambitious.  I'm also surprised that there isn't anything on the front cover to indicate that it is the uncut release.  I guess most of the people that would be concerned already know, but that really seems like something that they would try and use as a selling point for the off the shelf customer.

While I want Freezing: Vibration, I think I'll pass on the $41.99 price tag and wait until Funimation puts out the eventual set that includes both season 1 and 2. Though in all probability Funi will release season 2 to Netflix streaming by this summer.

It's $35 for the LE on GoHastings still. Not sure if the free shipping code is still in place but I'd grab it on there.

Sankrea just feels like a "we're sorry but not apologizing" release. Their marketing team could have at least said "now with 100% less blur" or something to at least poke fun at the situation.

I'd get from GH but USPS has been destroying everything that I have been receiving in a bubble mailer lately :/

Lol basically.

MUV LUV Total Eclipse Collection 1 BD is $22.99 on Amazon

Can't decide if I want to get it or not.

Does Sentai's stuff go on sale usually?

Off and on depending on the store.

If you don't mind DVD GoHastings usually gets a ton of Sentai releases traded in that can be used with their discounts.

Not seeing any decent prices on Righstuf's funimation "sale", but no surprise really. Couple things are a couple bucks cheaper than amazon if you're a member (for example Cowboy Bebop bluray 35.99-10%)

Everything is pretty much the same. Worth it though if you have a GA membership, i just shaved off 24$

Hopefully the .Hack stuff stays at that price until the crossover day with next week's sale. I want those, but don't want to make an order until I know what's on sale next week.

Funimation will offer Broadcast Dubs for Assassination Classroom, Death Parade, Tokyo Ghoul √A, The Rolling Girls, World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman, Kamisama Kiss 2, Absolute Duo, Yuri Kuma Arashi, Yona of the Dawn, and Maria the Virgin Witch.

^ God damn, Funimation is getting serious. Going the whole speed dub route now and I hope it doesn't affect the quality of the dubs.

Interesting they are dubbing Tokyo Ghoul √A before Tokyo Ghoul

of all the animes in the list, i was surprised how tame maria the virgin witch was, and it is also has a good plot.

Just noticed Aniplex announced the Garden of Sinners movies coming to bd. I never saw the old one since it was an expensive import set but I was wondering. Is this a movie of the collected OVAS or is it something new?

They will have the time between the broadcast dub premiere and the disc release to fix any problems that might arise. Funi has never had any problems re-recording lines as needed for their dubs.

I wonder if Sankarea and Bento had a influence in the broadcast dubs because they had to fix a broadcast version dub into a home release dub.
there is a chance. I wouldn't be surprised if part of it was just voice actor experiance. My local con gets a number of funimation VA in and each of them say the same thing. It usually takes 2-3 episodes to really get a feel for a character and after the series is recorded they wish they could go back and redo the first few episodes because it's not as well done as later stuff.

these broadcast dubs can kill two birds with one stone. Get a dub done early enough that the market that likes dubs but doesn't mine subs will wait for it (I fall in this category as I don't mind one way or another, but I am willing to stop watching the shows for a dub with only a few week delay instead of a near year delay) and it allows them to get feedback on the dub and fix it before the home video release, which in general should mean higher quality dubs.

That being said it's not like the psycho pass season 2 dub was clearly inferior to the first season's dub. I am just more confused how they are going to manage to dub all of these shows this fast. If i recall right from chatting with the VA they only have like 5 studios and usually only 1 or 2 are actually free for a quicker dub project. But hey if they make it work all the better. Quicker quality dubs isn't a bad thing, especially if it gets Soma Dubbed next season.

With Funimation owning the Haruhi series, hopefully they will be able to license Nagato. If they are able to, hopefully that would be a broadcast dub because Haruhi is a legend but I wonder if they would do it since bang zoom did the dub.

They're price matching Best Buy (it's in the Best Buy ad).

Edit:

Looks like best buy is matching their sale. Any recommendations at these prices? I've only seen spirited away and grave of the fireflies (don't hate me lol)
Mononoke Hime.

Finished Cowboy Bebop today. First time I've ever watched it, and I have to agree it's a great anime.

What's Tokyo Ghoul about? I'm waiting to get a dubbed version to check it out. Is it in the Blue Exorcist vain?

From what I hear its not very true to the manga but I find it pretty entertaining. Funi announced the dub for s2 before s1 so maybe the BD release will get announced soon.

Sweet, I need to check it out. I'm about halfway through with Samurai Champloo now.

I was looking through ongoing dubbed anime the other day and came across one called "D Gray Man". From the premise and art it looked and sounded ok, has anyone watched it yet?

D.Gray-Man had promise but it's anime is a bit of a mess. It's pacing is really slow and it doesn't really pick up until it's second season (wiki claims a season is 50 episodes) which was also its last season. Funimation only dubbed season 1, made some questionable casting choices and dropped it claiming licensing issues.

If you think that's bad, the manga author has had the manga on hiatus countless times to the point she was booted out of Jump altogether and now needs a new publisher.

That's a drag. I have a list though of anime I want to watch, and I need to get caught up on One Piece as well.

Just finished season 2 of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan and I enjoyed it immensely. Hoping season 3 comes around (gets dubbed) soon.

Tokyo ghoul is worth a watch. I wouldn't say it's anything like blue exorcist

Edit: decided to go the Disney movie club route instead of the best buy sale. 6 Ghibli movies blu ray + Big HERO 6 and clone wars lost missions blu for 80 bucks total is a great deal. Even got a free mickey blanket lol

On the One Piece Podcast they announced that Funimation got Season 7. It's going to be released in 6 parts and covers Ep 385-456 (Sabaody Archipelago Arc- Impel Down Arc). The first cover will feature the Supernovas and looking to release in the Summer. Marco and Kizaru already cast for the Dub.

Then they talked about the possibility of doing a simulcast dub but nothing solid on that.

My hope for a Blu-ray release of Magi is diminishing day by day. Aniplex releasing the two DVD sets of the second season. Boo... I know the show was made in/for HD, so there's no way I'd settle unless it was for the right price (which it isn't because Aniplex).

Looks like Darker Than Black s1 is finally getting a BD release in the US. Just ordered this during the holiday sale but I wouldn't mind double-dipping for a definitive release.
I still got my sealed dvd copy from a RS holiday sale years ago.I should to see if it's worth upgrading.

FUNimation May 2015 Solicitations
I see Funi is trying to make quick buck with with the recent Bubblegum Crisis Blu-ray release.
