 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last   (Blu Ray)

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Movies-TV-Anime/zgbs/movies-tv/2959100011/ref=zg_bs_nav_mov_2_2958934011 (DVD)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Not deal related but I would like to know if there is a non-premium edition for Natsume's Book of Friends. If not, will there be plans to have any?

The only version right now are the premium editions, so you'll have to wait a bit. It's a bit complicated at the moment with the Natsume set because Season 1 + 2 are DVD only, and Season 3 and Season 4 sets are blu/dvd sets, so they'll still have to decide how they will sort through that nonsense when they start doing the non-premiums, and we'll have to see if they are going to give S1+2 a blu release as well, or just stick them DVD only again.

If NISA would just release Seasons 3 & 4 in a single DVD-only set like they did for S1 & 2, I'd be happy. I'm not that big of a Blu-ray fan.

I did want to get FMA: Brotherhood, but I decided not to. Instead, I had to put that money toward one last gift for my mom. Hopefully, if the prices persist till after Xmas, I'll buy the whole set.

The manga is anyway.
+1

The anime is extremely average, but the manga is great. The series gets so much better when
Tsukune starts turning vampire and the story gets dark.
But the anime doesn't get that far.

As for the mihoshi special and the pretty Sammy special, i am not sure if it ever was released stateside.

It was. I own it.

So, I just sold a copy of Rosario+Vampire Season 1 on eBay. The feedback the buyer left? "Great, my granddaughter will love it."

...I have no idea how to react to that. Either her granddaughter is awesome or there will be one horrified grandma.
This post made my day :D

I was wondering if that Psyco Pass Premium edition was only part 1 but according to their shop it looks like it's 22 episodes. Assuming you can pick it up in a Rightstuf studio sale I'll probably get this. A stark difference in price when compared to the Aniplex release of the Madoka movie for $200.

Yeah, I was shocked to see the price on Psycho-Pass, but I think they're only calling it "season 1" because there is already a "season 2" in development. So that set should contain all the episodes thus far.

Just remember Funimation prices are always garbage, and the prices on Amazon will reflect that up until the actual titles are about to release, and it should drop by then, so don't sweat too much if the prices seem terrible right now because of Funimation prices.

Holy crap. It could be because I don't follow new releases, but some anime have gotten way too expensive DX.

EDIT: And just saw your post above, Squarehard. Haha

Yea, ever since anime companies started doing 13-episode sets, the MSRPs have gone up. However, Amazon and other stores will have it for around 40-50% off as their normal price.

Looking forward to Psycho Pass next year. I can only wonder what will be in the premium set. Will probably end up getting Part 1/2 instead unless it's something that's worth the extra $$$. I'm at the point where only the main Blus matter to me anymore. Who really listens/looks soundtracks/artbooks more than once? =S

yup the only place you really get screwed over is places like best buy that still charge the MSRP lol

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but Future Diary is going for $23.99 (each set) right now on Amazon. Unfortunately, it's DVD only. I've seen the commercials for Future Diary on Neon Alley, and it struck my interest.

Anyone hear anything good about it? All I've heard was that it has a similar feel to Death Note...which, if actually true, is enough for me to instant buy this.

EDIT: Screw it. I just bought both sets. Merry Christmas to me.

Guessing the Galaxy Railways S.A.V.E. set is a newer, updated one like they did with Moonphase as it's already on the S.A.V.E. line. Where this one will actually be in DVD case and only be 4 discs, compared to the older S.A.V.E. set being a cardboard case and being 6 discs. I've got that old set and have to keep the discs in CD cases, since the cardboard sleeves scratch the discs. So I can understand why they're ditching them.

Kinda funny about the Shakugan no Shana S1 S.A.V.E. set too. As the regular set has been around $25 during the recent sales. But I guess with it moving to the S.A.V.E. line, the regular edition is being phased out.

FYI, for people that didn't catch it. Funimation delayed Evangelion 3.33's DVD/BR release to sometime in 2014 due to "high demand for a theatrical run". Of course everyone that heard about it is pissed and calling it BS(saying it's either Japan wanting them to delay it or milking money from the theatrical run). So no more Feb. 2014 release date.

Right stuff has it listed as Feb 2014. There is a link floating around to demand an Eva viewing in your area. The theatrical showings will be in January

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-12-02/eleven-arts-reveals-u.s-theater-lineup-for-evangelion-3.0-screenings
You must be looking at a older page that isn't updated, because I'm seeing "Coming Soon, To Be Determined" under the release date for both the DVD & BR sets. Although Amazon hasn't updated their release date yet(although they're usually slow about stuff like that).

BTW, link to the post where they mention the delay:

I don't have a problem with this... As long as it still comes out without just dubs or something.

Booooo. That sucks...Highly doubt they would bring it to theaters in MN.

EDIT: Well color me surprised. They are playing it at the nearby U of M campus theater. $5 movies for students.

Looks like they're not including the visual novel games from the JP release. I'd rather have gotten that than a sticker and keychain...
VN games are far more expensive to bring over than a sticker and a key chain. And that's if they don't dub it.

Anyone seen guilty crown on sale? I know its relatively new but I started watching it on hulu and would like to finish it dubbed. I am to lazy to read sub's =\

They're currently on sale right now on Amazon until the end of this month,

Damn that doesn't seem like a steal to me but then again I have never bought an anime on DVD/bluray. I might have to bite now since it is on sale

Well it's definitely the best price by far atm, even compared to the typical anime places like Rightstuf, and those are a part of their 12+ days sale,

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/facetedSearch/?search=guilty%20crown#/?s=guilty%20crown&r=STORE_CATEGORIES:BLURAY&o=0

and if you compare them to other places such as Best Buy,

Target,

Walmart,

fye,

DeepDiscount,

Hopefully you've seen the pattern by now, but those prices currently are definitely the best prices, even compared to other sites which are having sales.

If you really want them cheaper your best option is always to go used as many places such as Hastings, SecondSpin, fye, etc. will have great discounts that will make the cost better, but that also depends on how often you feel like you want to browse, stalk, and peruse through sites to get them before somebody else snatches them.

You have lots of options, but usually the options that are in this thread will probably be your best one, so if anything just keep yourself updated on this thread for future titles you may want to own.

As for Guilty Crown though, this is the best price they have been barring the lightning deal in the days before BF, and they were only about $1 cheaper each at that time, so it's not going to be much cheaper any time soon.

Thanks for the advice. I snagged both parts. After seeing those prices and knoeing how I have terriblr luck finding used stuff at placed around here, i figured this saves me time and money. Man I can't wait to get them in the mail now! =D

I know you already bought it, but as for my thoughts on it... A pretty good show with a lot of fun highs, and a few pitifully low points due to some moments that felt like they were just forced to fit with an idea the creator had for a later scene. Overall I would give it a recommendation to watch though as in general it was a fun ride.

minor spoilers with my thoughts on a character without any real details about the character lol.

I really hated the little kid early in the series, he was horribly written in general.

Thanks! Definitely sounds like one worth checking out, despite the low points. Seeing the commercial for it, I had a feeling that it could be one of those series that might go off the rails from time to time and lose itself. Still looking forward to seeing it though.

Hot damn, Ikki Tousen S4 is already coming out that soon? Nice.

Hopefully S3 that comes out in a week or two drops a bit in price by then. Except if what was said on this page ends up being the case and they get slightly cheaper when the release, then S4 won't be that much day one and I will just pick up both seasons at the same time.

You should've picked it up during the Funi sale on Amazon. I got Part 1 for $25, and Part 2 for $24

Just a heads up on Amazon: FMA Brotherhood Complete Collection Two is not being offered by Amazon for their promotional price of $27.50 currently cause of some sort of problem. Part one is still being offered for the $27.50 price tag, though. Guess it's a good thing I waited then.

Anime gets put under review all the time, so it should be back in a bit, but yeah, kind of sucks it's a common occurrence with anime though, lol.

It was probably missing something that people assumed they would get with their copy of the set, like a bonus or a piece of paper or something...

I only grabbed Lain from the Amazon sale.

I was a little interested in Guilty Crown/Shana.  Both seem to be perfect to Amazon reviewers but other reviews I read online didn't like it as much. Basically read GC had a good first half but a crappy last half. Shana doesn't seem like it's too amazing either... plus 3 seasons, a movie, and an ova seem like it's lot to invest in to see all of it.

Passed on them unless someone really wants to convince me that either of these shows are worth it.

EDIT: I bit on the Premium Version of Psycho Pass.
