Anime & Manga Thread Vol. 2: Za Warudo!!!

It's been awhile, but I thought it felt one-wayed. Inuyasha cared about Kikyo much more than Sango, and Sango seemed to want to get closer to Inuyasha. But yea, Rumiko isn't great at really anything other than somehow being successful rewriting the same story 10 times.
Oh, it was definitely one-sided. Inuyasha (ubderstandably) hadn't gotten over Kikyo yet and was starting to pine over Kagome.

Still doesn't change the fact that Sango and Inuyasha had the most chemistry together.

Not even as deep as a love triangle. Just "misunderstandings"

I bitch but I still enjoy it.
If you've watched up through Ep.10:

Now he basically has a small harem if you also count Iroha, his teacher, the girl with the glasses he helped, the girl from his middle school that popped up, Totsuka, the boy who looks girl-ish, Yukino's older sister, and his sister kind of... yeah it must be tough being a loner. Anyways, I do like some of the character development, at least he tries a little this season and people acknowledge it somewhat, but then there's always some small stupid misunderstanding that takes up like 4 episodes or whatever. It's cool, though, just annoying as hell sometimes.

the romance is much stronger this season, than in season 1. he could of gotten himself a girlfriend plenty of times.

Iroha is defiantly hot for senpai. But Yukino is best girl.
even that female teacher who looks like an older version of yukino, has the the hots for hachiman this season. since she is at that age looking to marry, and appear to be lonely , and desperate for male affection/attention. i know yui will 100% go with hachiman, if he asked

Somebody has the hots for Hachiman?

This season seems to be wrapping up. Waiting for some of my Rom/Com's to finish. Plastic Memories, SNAFU, Yamada, and of course the Yuri bait show Sound Euphonium. I still have My Love Story which doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so there's that.

And so long JoJo. The show that taught me how to pose.

Catching up on Knights of Sidonia. Heh Penis monster. The Gauna are getting freakier by the day, and the captain's gotta nip whatever is happening on her ship in the bud.

Also reading Shigeru Mizuki's Showa series.

Man, I am wondering how is Knights of Sidonia going to be incorporated into the Super Robot Wars series. The Gauna are kinda terrifying as they do consume everything they kill.

yeah, i thought the hoshijiro clone was going to mate with nagate, LOL

can't wait for the season of gatchaman crowds

Finished up a few shows this season:

Yamada-kun & 7 Witches -  I saw the last episode and I really don't know what happened. Not to say I didn't like it, but the whole memory loss thing was complicated.

Sound Euphonium - Ended nicely. Some yuri bait in there too. I wanted more. Kinda like a sports anime with music.

Plastic Memories - We all saw where this was going. them feels....

read the manga with yamada kun if you want to know

Posted in the movie thread, but should go here too

I watched Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door

First time watching, great stuff. I am looking for suggestions, 80-90s anime feature, good action, cool characters and a not too distant future setting. Thanks!

Venus Wars

Fatal Fury The Movie

Dirty Pair Project Eden

Tenchi The Movie 1 & 2

Wings of Honneamise

Golglo 13 The Professional

Lupin the Thrid: Castle of Callgilostro

There's most likely a dozen more I'm not remembering. And there's the obvious Akria, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell. Probably didn't even need to mention them.

So what new shows is everyone looking forward to? I have Working!!!, Ushio & Tora, & Non Non Biyori Repeat in my que. Besides that I have little clue what might be good. Gangsta was mentioned earlier so I'll check that out soon.

Also Shimoneta and Snow White with the Red Hair have me interested. And there's School Prison. I have a feeling I'll have to wait till the misses goes to bed before watching that one. It looks like a borderline porno.

Absolutely nothing, cause I haven't even looked at what's coming up. I've been watching way too little anime.

Finally got through the first episode of Arpeggio after like 5 tries. Episode 2 was much better. I would say I liked it more than any single episode of Girls und Panzer, so I'm glad I kept with it.

Edit:

Looked at what's coming up. Other than the obvious second/third seasons of stuff:

Castle Town Dandelion - Sounds like my type of show (comedy/magical 4-koma adaptation)

Sky Wizards Academy - Light novel source, character designs remind me of Angel Beats

...and of course, forgot Monster Musume was coming out!

prison school will be a borderline porno with a heavy focus on fetishes. I got lured into reading the manga and while to it's credit I couldn't stop because I was curious how they were going to set up the next fetish scene, it's a series full of tourture, urination on selves and others, bondage ect. If you are able to find guys being abused and beaten funny it's apparently a pretty funny series, personally I don't and didn't even realize it was trying to be a comedy until one of the people defending the series told me lol.

anyways new shows I am looking forward to

Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Senyaku - lots of talent behind the creation of this, but haven't heard good things about the first episode. still want to watch.

Gakkou Gurashi! - my initial thought is burn it with fire, but then I saw the tags for what it is, so I at least want to to give it a chance, ideally it doesn't stay as a cute 4 girls in a club show for long.

Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri -already checked out the first episode of this. It was what I expected from the long title. it's a lite novel adaption, and the main character is named Gary Stu, but all the same it was a fun first watch as I don't mind shows like dungeon/SOA/no gam no life/magic high.

Jitsu wa Watashi wa - decent looking romcom, ideally is like rosario vampire

God Eater -I'm usually the type to avoid video game adaptions but it's hard to ignore ufotable

Ushio to Tora (TV) this seems like a nice classic action series, as of right now it's on hold for me to watch as I had lest interest in this one and already have a bunch of shows I want to watch the second episode of.

Rokka no Yuusha - this one had a decent first episode but not great, it could easily fall apart or potentially fill some of the holes and be a decent watch.

Akagami no Shirayuki-hime - the A team from Bones plus a well rated manga. The last time Bones did a shojo manga I got one of my favorite shows of all time (ouran high school host club) thus I have some hopes for this one even though it's a split season.

Gangsta. more sex than I expected in the first episode, but overall I liked both of the mains and could easily see this series becoming something really enjoyable. Like a gangster version of samurai champloo (which is animed by the company that did samurai champloo)

Charlotte It's a key anime, from a number of people who did Angel Beats (a show I enjoyed) the first episode was a great set up episode, I just hope that they continue with the darker humor.

Overlord another trapped in a video game series, but this one is from a well rated source material and done by a decent company thus I wouldn't mind watching it.

Ranpo Kidan: Game of Laplace a murder mystery series with a main character who has many problems. overall the first episode wasn't bad, but it's on the short list of shows to stop watching for me.

Thanks for the mini synopsis for the summer season. There's a few in there that sound interesting. Looking for a new romcom so Jitsu wa Watashi wa has me intrigued.

Catching up with Ace of Diamond. It's okay but man does this show drag at times. Sooooo much drama in every game It's like a roller-coaster rather than a baseball game.

And I'm surprised "Is it Wrong to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon" is over. Definitely more story to this one. Yet another anime that's a commercial for the manga/light novel.

While I am still watching Ace of Diamond I would easily recommend Major or Cross game if you are looking for a baseball anime with better pacing/story.

of the currently airing sports series I find baby steps to be vastly superior to ace in nearly every way.

and yeah dungeon is over, but a lot of that is because it's mostly caught up on the source material, there is a bit more but not enough for another season of anime at this time.

i don't think you would like shimoneta. snow white and the red hair is good. you will def like it. it is like the retold of the story from japanese anime style. also you should check out Jitsu wa Watashi wa, the truth is i am a vampire. you will like it too

I watched the first episode of Baby Steps/ Maybe I need to give that another go.

Another thing I dislike about Ace of Diamond is the main character. Sawamura is so fucking annoying. I feel for his teammates who just want him to shut the fuck up,

to be fair they just asked which ones I am interested in, a number of those I wouldn't watch unless you paid me to, the one I left is the only one of those left on my maybe I will check out if i have nothing else to watch list :p

Cross game if you are half way through and not feeling it just drop it, it's baseball but it's also very character driven and if you don't feel it by now you likely won't ever. Major is much more baseball focused, he is a bit like Sawamura but actually good at what he does and a real leader (most of the time.

Baby steps starts off slow, which shouldn't be surprising given the name. The show is about the main character taking a number of baby steps to become a good player. The start is slow since he continues to slowly continue to get better, but it shows a more technical side of a sports anime and the actual matches aren't drawn out. After the first bit there is a good mix of training and matches. overall it's most comparable to hajime no ippo.

I still need to watch kuro no basket but haikyuu was barely watchable for me. the main characters just aren't very itneresting, those types have been done to death and they spent a ton of time taking their characters exactly where you knew they would go if you had ever watched a sports anime in your life :/

I'm not saying baby steps is unpredictable, but it at least goes into other areas that a lot of sports shows don't touch and getting better is the result of hard training, not just the power of friendship.

Same as Ace of Diamond and you said you liked the main characters from that. A loud mouth MC and the quiet cool guy rival. We see that in just about everything. At least Kuroko doesn't have that trope.

But if you want to see a good sports anime go watch Yowapeda and look no further.

No problem. I hope there's something in there for you.

On a similar note I've been watching some old school Lupin the 3rd. After seeing Jigin's Gravestone I decided go back and watch the older stuff. Lupin is great.

huh, wha? where in the heck did I say I liked the main characters to ace of diamond as clearly someone hijacked my account as I would never say that. I didn't say I outright hate them but they too are the same thing and are in general annoying. I constantly say I don't get why people prefer ace or the volley ball anime over baby steps, I don't hold ace to a higher pedestal it's actually an inferior anime to the volley ball one (which yes also makes ace of diamond barely watchable... I do other stuff while watching it) as at least that one was short enough they didn't stall out on everything to get more time.

Sorry sorry. My bad. I miss read your earlier post.

So with Lupin I'm skipping over part 1 and going strait into part 2. Also any recommendations on movies? Only ones I've seen were Callgiostro and Jigin's Gravestone. I think I watched Nostradamus a long time ago but I don't remember the plot.

Thanks man! I've only seen two of those - will check out the others.
No prob. As I said I watched a ton of 80's 90's anime back in the day. We had a little indy station when I was a kid and every Saturday night they would air anime. I've seen some crap but also some gems. Hopefully there's something in there for you.

Crisis in Tokyo is wacky and funny. Mystery of Mamo is pretty good too and is the only movie to feature the Geneon cast. Of course, Episode 0 is a must.

Any word on why Dragon Ball Super isn't being simulcast on any streaming services? I thought it would surely be on the Funimation streaming service. It will obviously come over to the West as a dub sometime in the near future, but I'd love to watch the show with subs now. I'd easily sign up for any service streaming it and I think a lot of others would do the same.

Toei want's to cash in some way. They didn't simulcast Kai either. They seem to withhold anything Dragon Ball outside Japan.

Ushino & Toro just started. It's a remake of anime that came out in the 90's so it has a very 90's shonen feel to it. I watched both episodes last night. Good stuff. It's currently up on CR.

So many new shows to check out and I haven't the time to watch them all.

there is no simulcast either because toei fears that a simulcast will eat future dvd sales or because a tv deal requires that there is no simulcast.

as for the dub don't bank on it being sometime in the near future, we still don't have an announcement for a dbz kai part 2 and it's possible that super won't air until after kai part 2 which at current rate on cartoon network won't finish until after about 2 years.

Got on Funimation and watched a few of their new simulcasts: Prison School, SHIMONETA, Overlord, Snow White/Red Hair. I liked them all. I'll continue to watch all of them. I even watched Bikini Warriors for the hell of it, but as I thought stupid fanservice.

Still need to check out Gangsta, Charlotte & GATE.
