Assassin's Creed Revelations - The End of Ezio's Story - November
Oh FFS, the game isn't even out yet and there's another sequel coming next year; probably AC3. Didn't they JUST SAY the series needed a rest? Unbelievable.
I'm not 100% on this but I think they said they'll take a break after the next game in 2012 (obviously, they're going to be using the 2012 end of the world conspiracy theories in the next game)

^yea- they've always said that they are in crunch to try to finish the current story elements prior to 2012 so that the story doesn't end up happening AFTER the supposed "end of world" date the games are working towards.

So i 've been playing this since friday and here's a few things on what it has and what I think.

AC 1 is on disk and you don't need to download, just install
Multi controls appear to be customizable but I haven't really played it except tutorial
Story wise....it's not bad but maybe it's too early to tell....I'm at 35%
To be honest I completely forgot about the story because I'm just doing other things like hiring my assassins. I sure hope it picks up soon.
desmond
I'm not really digging it because it forces you into 1st person mode. I think I'm 3/5 through so yeah
Oh yeah it appears there's an "online" code just like they did for newer games to play online. Uplay passport.

Well reviews say basically the same thing every time this game comes out: better than before but this time actually pays off. I hope they're right about the ending because they've all sucked up to this point IMO. Not sure what I think about tower defense mini-games though. . .

After more playtime here's what I think:

Desmond
really??? I got all 5 sequences done and if this is it, this was a total waste of my time. Its nice how he came about but really? It wasn't a big surprise. He finally accepts who is he....assassin.

Ezio
I'm on sequence 6 and it feels like Ezio story is finally progressing. I know he's trying to uncover the secret(s) but he really didn't have much influence for me atm. 3 more to go and see if it gets better

Altair
Right now this is the BEST part in the whole game. It continues from the end of part one and shows/plays throughout his lifetime. This is the one where it feels like it's worth it. I wonder if I'm done where I'm at or a scene or two more until the end.

Overall the game is good, I'm kinda on the wall with the whole new "defense" thing and wished it was polished a little more. It kinda felt rushed.

^they said that it's not the "encounters" as much as it's the number of shops you open and towers you have. They also made it sound like you could fully train your assassin's to defend towers for you- so it may not be a huge deal.

True nb......everytime a shop is opened you get about 25% "awareness". For every tower i believe it was full "awareness" but can quickly be remedied by bribing heralds or killing eyewitnesses. You dont even have to go back to 0%. Just enough where youre not full red.

So, if I gather correctly, the more shops you own and towers you conquer, the higher your notoriety. The higher your notoriety the higher the chance you'll be attacked in a tower defense style?

But all you have to do is lower your notoriety in order to not be attacked?

That pretty much sums it up....I know there's 1 thats part of the quest line and I think there was 1 more but I think that was on my part. I kinda sped through the beginning.

im excited for this have been since i finished ac2 even got the plat and since its on sale during bf im getting it. btw doesnt the first run of these come with ac1?

yup..btw it was posted on the game deals forum but it's confirmed at walmart for $40. I don't know how long it'll last though.

Also if you want the Gamestop exclusive edition for the extra content, the code in there has an expiration date of Jan. 15. Considering Ubisoft enforced the expiration on the bonus content for the CE of Brotherhood, expect the same for this.

Could anyone please confirm that the UPC of AC:R from Walmart (with the exclusive Brutus Armor) is the same as the one from Amazon? The Walmart UPC is 0 08888 36684 3. Thanks for any help.

Finished this the other day. 18 hours for 81% sync. It wasnt as big of a game as ac2 or brotherhood- no horses or guild missions, but it was fun.

Got it from Amazon for $35. I'll post my thoughts after I play for a few hours. I loved the last two games so I'm looking forward to it.

My favorite is still Assassins Creed 2. Lots of weird stuff and killer ending. I can see where this is all leading up to, but I am sad if this is really the end of Ezio's story like Ubisoft says. Ezio beats Altair hands down, to me. And let's not even talk about Desmond.

Played all these games and somehow the worst gameplay elements are in this game. I hate horse carriage fights and den defense. Whoever came up with these ideas should be fired on the spot. I'd rather ride the freaking horse like in past games and even do horse missions if need be as long as there is no den defense or horse carriage fights.

Really sad there were no hidden glyphs or puzzle solving in this one. I liked the whole Illuminati/templar/conspiracy stuff. I prefer collecting Animus stuff to feathers. Even though I always collected 100 in all games, it was weird for an assassin to collect feathers. ;)

I think they are too focused on multiplayer and added gameplay stuff. Neglected a lot of story and could have done more.

Still buying the next one.

hands down ac2 has been the best, and ezio is really a great character for a franchise, and now he's done...
sadly there isnt any good ending/closure for such a good character as ezio, he just kinds of goes away as a sidenote at the end, you can guess he quits the assassin guild n hitches that redhead

^Did you not watch the Embers movie? It is meant to cap off the Ezio story.

Anyway- i missed the horse stuff- and I HATE tower defense- but if you played right, you never had to experience it beyond the first demo of it. That said, i did spend probably 6 hours focusing on my assassins to get enough of them to lvl15 so i wouldn't have to fuck with it.

I also don't have any problems with the buggy sections.

I like Constantinople a lot; it feels very fresh. I'm about three chapters in now and stabbing people is just as fun as ever. So far it feels a lot like the last game though. I think after playing Skyrim it's gonna take a lot to really wow me with an open world game; at least I know AC wont glitch the fuck out though. I gave my dude a purple cape so he looks like a total pimp daddy.

So just finished the game the other day. Didn't even really realize I was getting that close to the end. The main storyline seemed extremely short. I even spent a lot of time building up my assassins and didn't feel like I was doing too many "Memory" missions, then all of a sudden I'm on sequence 9. Maybe because of the lack of Guild missions?

I guess AC2 and AC:B spoiled me. Guess I'll hit the multiplayer a bit.

Ventured out to Best Buy today and found out that "new" Assassin's Creed: Revelations no longer includes Assassin's Creed 1, at least no longer have that small logo. Guess the inclusion REALLY is limited time offer.

I didn't like any of the new additions to the series:
- Bombs: Completely worthless, and the Missions you use them for are arbitrary. There are also like 4 or 5 Trophies that require their usage. Idiotic.

- Den Defense: I only did this twice; the tutorial and the tutorial for the Trophy. Having it hang over your head for the entire game sucks. Once you get 7 MA's, the burden lifts and the game becomes immensely more enjoyable.

- Desmond Sections: These are truly the worst gameplay areas I have ever seen in any game. Even Superman 64 in its' broken-ass controls had a purpose and made more sense in context. Just...crap, absolute crap.

- Mediterranean Defense: Getting money from Assassin Missions in Brotherhood was cool. But again, having something hang over your head just sucks the fun away. That's the problem here, and you can never really let this one go away. I hope they scrap it for the next one. It's just not fun.

- As for the story
It REALLY sucks there's no finality to Ezio's life in-game. It's just aggravating and kind of insulting to people who've played every game.

I'd have to say I agree for the most part. I liked the bombs, however I did not like how it almost seemed like you were forced to use them to complete some missions. Something like that should be used to enhance gameplay, not drive it.

As I said before, the main storyline missions seemed to go by so quick. It was like they took too much off the story in order to add in some side stuff, but there weren't even that many side missions.

I did not like how I had to search online to find the ending to Ezio's story and it wasn't just included in the game like you said.

I still haven't even opened my copy, but it sounds like the milking has finally paid its toll on the franchise. And now 3 is coming out this year? Yeah, Ubisoft can fuck off.

Thought I'd share this little tidbit for kicks - on one of the rewards sites I've been poking around on I got picked for an Assassin's Creed survey regarding ACIII. One of the portions was "Please select your 3 most preferred settings for a future Assassin's Creed game:" and the options were...

- The advent of the mighty British Empire during Victorian England
- The Warlord Battles in Feudal Japan
- The Vikings' voyages to America in the 11th century
- The overthrow of the Tsar Empire by the Communists during the Russian Revolution
- The fall of the absolute monarchy during the French Revolution
- The violent conflicts of the Imperial Dynasties in Medieval China
- The confrontation between British colonists and native Americans during the American Revolution of the 18th century
- The invasion of the Americas by the Spanish Conquistadors
- Joan of Arc's battles & rise of the Black Death during the Hundred Years War
- The rise of the Buccaneers and Pirates in the American Eastern Seaboard

Some hints to the future of AC multiplayer in the survey too making it sound like they may be adding support for some sort of large scale "clans" that you can join and more team vs team
gameplay.

So finally got around to playing this turd and it really shows how quickly they've been slapping these games together. Honestly, I've never had problems with the bugs in AC before but now it's affecting gameplay where I have to restart memories because the idiot AI keeps getting stuck on things. Or I'll be following an escort (not a tail) and fail suddenly because 'reduce distance from target' will flash on the screen briefly even though I'm standing like two feet from them. It's just so obvious there wasn't proper testing done.

Aside from that, the story has been about. . .collecting books. Yeah, I don't know what else to say because I'm bored to tears with collecting books. No epic assassination plot or interesting events going on, just using my library pass to find some books hidden in places that make no sense.

I guess the core gameplay is the only thing going for this series anymore, because I must admit it's still loads of fun just running around killing people. The collection quests are at least lessened, but probably because they only had time to develop one city this time. I'm glad AC III is at least trying to innovate by moving away from the cities and into guerrilla warfare. Otherwise this series deserves to die the way they milked it.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly I enjoyed ACII but hated the other 2. I am looking forward to ACIII through. Sadly though I heard there are more Desmond parts which makes me unhappy

God, I wish they had just ditched that twist early in development for the first game. I haven't even touched his storyline in this game yet, even though I've unlocked like 5 parts or so. It's so uninteresting and the fact they've just played it out for four games without really making a clear connection yet makes it worthless. He's a descendent: we get it. Does he add anything to the game/story? No.

Well, maybe Nolan North's voice. Nothing else.

Anyone still playing this? I just started playing again and I just got to sequence 7 I think (some underground city) and the game hard froze on me like 3 times the past hour in different parts. Had to hard reboot.

I just started it 3 or 4 weeks ago, but I didn't get too far before I kind of lost interest. I feel like I just finished AC2 and Brotherhood. On the other hand, I also feel an OCD compulsion to finish what I started so I might get back into it. It's tough to grind it out when I'm getting so many good free games from PS+, though (been playing a bunch of Awesomenauts lately, and about to start Trine 2).

I only sort of liked AC:1, lots of potential, fun in places, but like Infamous 1 and Uncharted 1, it felt like more of a tech demo for a really awesome sequel.

AC:2 was way better, and I thought AC:B was just about perfect. I had read reviews and heard feedback saying that AC:R was a bit of a step back, but I got so caught up in the whole thing that I went right into Revelations mere seconds after finishing Brotherhood.

Mistake.

Revelations is okay. It's not a terrible game. But I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more, had I waited, you know, until I was CRAVING some more Assassin's Creed. Brotherhood was a hard act to follow. In fact, I think I'll hold off getting AC:3 for a bit, while I clear through some of my backlog and try and get that craving back.
