Atlanta CAG Thread, v2.0

The Super Walmart off highway 9 near macfarlane rd (mile north macfarlane rd, west 400, opened last year) had all the following marked to $10. Last time the marked games below the 19.82/29.82 price points it only lasted about a week before they were marked back up. There were about 30-40 PS2 games at $10 each, but I didn't bother writing them down.

Once again all are $10 Each

The games were all located 2 aisles over from the games cases on a mid endcap. There are 2 additional Endcaps of the regular 19.82/29.82 games. Some games only had a single copy left where others had over a dozen. There may have been more mixed in I missed. Not all the games had a dedicated slot, you have to dig a bit...

Ooh, I didn't know the Simpsons DS was in the $10 bunch. I'd buy it for that price. I never did find a $10 Puzzle Quest. They have a pretty decent batch on the $10 endcap at Mansell Walmart, but neither of those games were there.

Tonight at the John's Creek Super Target, there were 2x PS3 Rock Bands for $70, and 2x 360 GH Aerosmiths for $10. Other than that, just a bunch of bad PS2 games, and some PC stuff.

I did find 1x each of Endwar DS and a trivia DS game for $7.50 each, and FFIV DS for $10. I bought those three. Whoop!
Puzzle quest is the shit. i recommend it to EVERYBODY. I couldn't tell you how many hours I put into it.
I have heard negative reviews of the new one from two different friends, though. Have you tried it?
I have heard negative reviews of the new one from two different friends, though. Have you tried it?
I am hearing the same thing so I will stick with PQ.

The new one is iffy. I like the theme, but puzzle quest is so much better. If they put the new one out on the psp I'd be sold. Puzzle Quest on the DS was fun, but I found it easier to control on the PSP.

Speaking of PSP, and every other system, what do you guys do about your backlogs? I have so many games and not enough time. Shit is killing me. lol

Not really a deal, but I saw 3 360 Hori EX joysticks at North Point TRU, all retail at $60. For those dying for a SF IV joystick, when you mod this with a better stick and gate for $10, it works extremely well (my experience at least)
I don't know how you can say that the PSP one was prettier but I can't see how anyone wouldn't prefer just tapping the gems on the DS. The screen was a tad smaller but the speed you could get without having to scroll across to the gem.
Speaking of PSP, and every other system, what do you guys do about your backlogs? I have so many games and not enough time. Shit is killing me. lol
backlog is a pretty serious problem. what's really crazy is I got virtual backlog. I started Super Mario RPG a while back. I read people saying they beat the entire game in a matter of hours. I don't see how after 3 weeks of on and off play I picked up Burnout and since it's multiplayer I haven't touched Mario RPG since. I have three VC games to play plus more to buy plus the rest of my games. The really funny part is that I'm in Canada so I brought less than 6 games for each system :)wii::ps3::ds:) and I'm still barely working thru the backog.

My backlog is about 220 games thanks to this site. I've only bought 1 game in the last 6 months. I've essentially stopped buying games since I can trade my old ones that I finish on Goozex and accumulate points there. I could, in theory, never buy another game again (as long as Goozex stays in business). I estimate at the very least it will be a minimum of 5 years before I finish every game I currently own.

I am more than happy to help you with a bail out plan for your backlog.

After my daughter was born and I took a new job my backlog just became way out of control. After about 2 years of downsizing games and systems I am down to under 20 games including my wife's DS collection. Gears of War 2 is the only game I bought at launch in the last 18 months.

I don't waste time playing games not up to par. Always nice to pick up a clearance game for $10 and knowing you can dump it for the same price if you don't like it after 2 hours.

The problem with my backlog is even though I want these games and eventually buy them cheaper, I can't get a ton of motivation to play anything but Rock Band 2 or XBLA titles that don't take a lot of time. I have a 1 year old son and other things I rather be doing nowadays. And with Pearl Jam's Ten and GH:Metallica in the next week, the backlog will continue to wait. The good news is that I've cut down on my game purchases a ton (next full priced retail purchase besides GH:Metallica will be Punch-Out, if it turns out to be any good.)

my backlog is abnormally huge as well but luckily no kids, no wife, no job (haha!...sad...) and i have all the time i need to catch up

if you wanna know something REALLY sad...the last game i beat was a game i bought when i was about 9..Mega Man X2 lol. I had NEVER been able to beat it til i decided to sit down and play through it. So 1 down! 300 to go!

I guess I'll throw my 2 cents on backlog management in as well. I just keep a limit to how many titles I own and why I own them. If I'm finished with a game I get rid of it either by giving it away to family/friends or trading towards titles I haven't played. Even if I really like a game I will get rid of it if I'm confident I'll never play it again. The only ones I hold on to are favorites that I have a chance of being replayed.

The thought of a backlog numbering in the hundreds blows my mind. I currently only have around 50-60 games spread over the GBA, DS, GC, Wii, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and 360 formats. Of those, I haven't played 12-15 of them. This is probably the deepest backlog I have ever had, I tend to keep it in the single digits. I intend to finish my current purge around the start of April to get it back around my normal levels.

I just have trouble holding on to something that I know I won't use, especially when it could go to another gamer. I like the idea of my well kept games starting a new hobby for some kid when he finds them at a Gamestop. I like even more when I give games to friends/family members that are kids or have them, making videogame purchases a hard to swallow cost. (I tend to be a "glass is half full" kinda' guy).

As for advice on how to knock out your own backlog, I agree with some earlier comments. animemanic's point about not having kids or a job can do wonders to reducing the number of titles in your backlog. (I would also add being broke/in debt). Felder, kj, Cochese, and neo also have the right idea; know when to say when. If you don't stop bringing in new titles to your collection, it isn't possible to reduce it.

kj made the point that I agree with more then anything though. Don't waste your time playing games you don't like. The industry is huge and there are great games out there in every genre. There's no reason playing a game shouldn't be something you enjoy. Sorry this post got so long and out of control, rather then 2 cents I shared a quarter! If you're really serious maybe look into the Ubiiquitous bail out plan!;)

BTW, what are you doing now that CC is gone? I hope you were able to find a job quickly.

Not much new to report at Targets in terms of video games but been seeing a bunch of 750gb external WD hard drives on clearance for 99.xx around the area. Hoping for another drop on these.

Picked up a George Foreman Lean Mean Grilling Machine for 13.XX yesterday. Now I can wake up to bacon!

Don't mean to sound redundant just wondering if -anyone- had an opinion regarding the whole rock band 1 vs rock band 2 dilemma I am facing ^~

Sure, buy RB1. No sense in spending that much more $$$ just because they updated the instruments a bit to make them a little quieter and maybe made the drum pedal a little sturdier (cheapest RB2 has been was $109.99 @ TRU last year when it first came out). I bought RB1 for the PS2 for $50 on clearance a few weeks ago @ Best Buy and bought a used copy of RB for the PS3 for $13 on sale @ Gamestop (instruments are the same for both consoles). If you can still find a PS3 Volume 2 Track Pack on clearance @ Target, you can add 20 songs for $14.XX or less so you should be plenty busy. Total cost for me was ~$77 and don't think you can do much better than that currently.

Not sure if this helps your dilema or creates more of one but if you're looking for 360 versions I have a Rock Band 1 game and drums I'd be willing to sell or trade. The GH guitars work with RB so I don't have a RB guitar to offer you but you should be able to find used of both types at GS. As for the mic, if you have a headset it will work fine. Let me know if you have any interest.

Thanks both of you for your input - chuckie, I only have a ps3 so I'm afraid that wouldn't apply to me. Mitch, we'll probably snag a copy of rock band 1 then and poke around a bit to see if we can find a track pack!

Check the one on Cobb Pkwy in Acworth. It's where I got mine and I haven't seen them anywhere else in the Marietta/Kennesaw/Cartersville area.

Edit - checked the online locater and Acworth is the only one showing Limited Availability in the area.

Aside from AC/DC Live.

I play RB 2 and GH:WT (and soon to be Metallica) on RB1 drums, RB1 mic, and GH3 guitars. Works great for me. I've added the foam pads to my drums (you have to check what version you have since the pads can greatly reduce sensitivtiy on some versions) and it sounds softer than the RB2 drums. I've had it since RB1 was released and still in excellent condition. RB1 guitar was always junk to me, which is why I stuck to the GH3 guitars (my favorite so far). My advice - Buy RB1 with the instruments and get RB2 and import the songs. RB2 interface for setting things up is far superior, you can do World Tour by yourself, and the total pacakge is just more fun to play.

Target in Lawrenceville had the following:
:ps3:
Rock Revolution - $10 (1 copy)
Singstar Abba - $20 (5 copies)
PS2 memory card adapter - $7.50 (4 or 5)

:360:
GH Aerosmith - $20 (1 copy)

Also had a couple of RB USB hubs for $10.

I have RB1 and I am happy enough with it to not upgrade. Still, the wireless drums on RB2 would be pretty sweet. If wireless is an issue, go with RB2.

Do I have any chance of still finding an Xbox Live Gold 12+1 card at any Kmarts around town? Need one for the missus.

EDIT: Found one at the Doraville Kmart hidden among the points cards. Rang up at $49.99 but the clerk was really nice and when I mentioned it was $29.99 online and thought it was in-store as well, he whipped out the circular and price-matched for me. He said, "If it's $29.99 online, we'll get it for you at that price!" The override didn't work at first, but he called the manager and got the code to do it.

So refreshing to be treated like a human being. Best Buy could take a lesson.

Placed an order early this morning for an instore pickup of Jericho and Bourne Conspiracy at the Duluth Microcenter. Got to the store and only Jericho was available. Figured one of the employees must have wanted Bourne for $9.99 :censored:.

While I was there I picked up the :360: GH Les Paul for $19.99 - figured it was time to upgrade from :ps2: for the Metallica release - and Warhammer for $4.99. No Universe at War but they had four or five of Turning Point if you need a really bad game for cheap.

Now I need to find a deal on some drums :D.

They probably got hit by hoarder like the Marietta store did. I went to get mine and got nothing.
I wanted U@W and Warhammer badly.

Return it! At Best Buy, you can get a $10 Les Paul on when you buy GH:Metallica.
seriously..there is SOME hoarder that keeps taking EVERYTHING...anyone have an idea who it is? im sure there's a lurker SOMEWHERE in this thread...
They're not necessarily from here. Could be FW. But whoever had the idea of passing deals through PMs or whatever only to the folks that actually participate in the thread might be on to something.

8-[ We need a "Dark Network" for ATL CAG deals.

It wasn't me. I've severely cut down on my game spending because of how little time I have anymore. Now those Bond BDs at Fry's are another story.

Well, anyone who subscribes to the MicroCenter 'gamers club' would have gotten the e-mail... also there weren't many copies available. Duluth only had about 1, 2, or at most 3 copies of U@W and Battle March. Marietta had 4, 5, or 6 so someone probably hoarded there. Not to mention this offer was available for delivery so once FW or SD got wind lots of people without MCs in their state took advantage. Most titles were available for delivery even later in the afternoon yesterday (~$6 shipping for 3 titles).

I will have an extra copy of U@A and Warhammer: Battle March available tomorrow if anyone wants them at cost + tax (I live in ATL Station, so the closer we meet to there the better, technically if you want to meet at the Duluth MC this evening or tomorrow that would work too). I bought extra copies, on a whim, thinking my roommate would want them but as it turns out he was only interested in Bourne (he got pissed last week when I didn't get him a copy of 50 Cent: BotS).

I guess it's a first-pm-first-served on the games... I don't know of a more fair way to offer them.

Just trying to help some fellow CAGS and not let the man get the games back for some FW user to get em!

I've waiting on that to drop to $9 for three/four weeks now.

Picked up FEAR 2 XBOX360 for 32.00 at the cd wherehouse in Kennesaw. Don't know if you guys go there or not. They don't have a big selection but its worth a shot for newer games that GS have at $55. Games are always way lower than GS and are always in perfect condition.

I love CD Warehouse, though I go to the one in Roswell. Watch their Blu-Ray selection - as long as you don't mind used, you won't find a better deal.
