If we get another HHH vs HBK feud  why not put one of them on SD to freshen things up a bit?
If that happens, do something they haven't done since '98. Make HBK the bad guy. Seems like everytime they feud, HHH is the bad guy.

He'll be on the pre-show. Free Muta! (surely an appearance only, as his best wrestling days were decades behind him).

In other (sad) news, "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd passed away this weekend. I don't recall much about him, except that he and Bobo Brazil were some of the earliest black wrestlers to make inroads in the industry, and that Ladd was a lifelong activist and supporter of the Republican party (he was good friends with the Bush family). While it's sad to see another wrestler pass, between Bad News and Ladd, it's a bit of a relief to see wrestlers not passing away too young. A strange bit of schadenfreude, sure, but it's what I'm thinking.

Anyone know how you can watch tonight's PPV on the web? I usually buy my WWE PPV's from their site and watch them, but I can't find anything like that on TNA's site.

I was reading about Ernie on wikipedia the other day. Fascinating fellow. I remember seeing an interview where he was talking about the racism he endured early in his career, wrestling while being called the n-word by people in the crowd. I think they said he even had a feud with Andre IIRC.

I couldn't find anything either.

See, I switched to the TiVo Series 3 and that let me get rid of the cable box I had, which also took away my ability to watch PPV's.

You know, seeing as they are onthe 360 Marketplace, it'd be great if we could buy PPV's through that as well.

I always wanted to chat with current black wrestlers, because I'm not convinced that such namecalling is a relic of the past. Wrestling is certainly still sexist enough, mind you.

Ernie Ladd was one of the first WWF Hall of Famers, so it's no surprise to see he feuded with Andre. If I have time, perhaps I'll see if he has a chapter in the WWF Legends book and scan it into a PDF if anyone is interested.

The TNA Destination X preshow was really good at hyping the PPV. I almost bit on it, truth be told. I just don't want to spend $30 right now, but for $30, TNA is offering up a show tonight that seems every bit superior to WWE's PPV shows. My only complaint is that Leticia, the new interview woman, is so bad that she's a worse announcer than the love child of Michael Cole and Don West. She needs to be fired with a quickness.

I'm bummed that Ladd died - he was one of the first guys I watched when I got some territorial tapes, and he was incredible on the stick. Not much in the ring, but a fantastic promo-cutter. Superstar Billy Graham is on WOL, but since I missed the first hour, I'm not sure if he talked about Ladd or not... and now a caller asks about it, and if he broke down the race barriers in wrestling. Dave says that he did, but that Bobo broke down more, and that Ladd did a lot of things that instilled fear in the fans. When he was facing a young face, there'd be fear for the young face due to the crowd truly thinking that Ladd was going to kill him.

Superstar said that he didn't have to worry about that, but he loved Ladd, and praises him for his psychology in the ring and talks about Ladd being able to project his personality in every promo, which is the thing that hooked me on him. Now Billy's done, so I've definitely got to snag the whole show later, as he's always a great guest.

I can't think of any exceptions - has there *EVER* been an ex-NFL player who turned out to be a good wrestler?

(guyver, before you say it, don't, because Goldberg *stunk* in the ring )

Wahoo and Pillman are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head. Now they've a guy on who was trained in judo by Allen Coage, and Dave revealed that Coage played a big role in training Benoit, and was responsible for Benoit going to New Japan.

Mike Swain (the trainee) said, "Well, Allen would train anyone who walked in the door... so I witnessed a LOT of beatings.". Don Callis is also on, and he says that he always prefaced his stories with "I don't know if I told you this or not...", and that he got the "Bad New" moniker from Judo when guys would see they were facing him, they'd say "Oh, Jesus, Bad News...". Don says that Allen was probably way too honest for the wrestling business, which rubbed people the wrong way, and he says that's the thing he'll probably remember most about him.

Callis now goes into the plans for Allen to be the world champ in the WWF, and Allen held it against the WWF that they didn't give him the belt, as he felt they lied to him. He also relays a story about Allen calling New Japan's training a breeze compared to his judo training, and Dave says that Bad News is the only guy he's ever heard of say that.

Apparently, Daniels came back in a goofy mask with his physique exposed, making it a dead giveaway that he returned. Anyways, Callis said that Bad News vs. Dynamite was the biggest drawing feud Stampede ever had, according to what Stu told him. Callis then says that he'd have been perfect as a leader for the Nation of Domination, even though Faarooq was good, Bad News would've been far better.

Then he relays a story about Allen teling him that his knees were destroyed due to doing so many squats as a young guy, and Callis says that his knees bowed more than anyone he's ever seen, and he praised Allen for not only doing a job for him, but doing it twice, and with that happening despite Callis begging to be beaten by Allen.

Mike tells a tale about being snuck onto a New Japan bus by Allen and running into Andre and Allen coming up and yelling at Mike during the match scaring him shitless even though it was a work.

Mike tells a story about being in a wrestling school with Allen and the wall was full of holes, and the owner would say "yeah, Allen was here last night..." when a new one was formed, and that they were formed because Allen would toss people into walls if they weren't training at 110%, and he tells a story about Allen having to straigten up a couple of wrestlers who got so drunk that they broke through a wall in a Japanese restaurant.

Dave asks Mike if Allen encountered any problems for his intolerance of racism in judo, and Mike says he isn't sure since he was so young at the time. Don's asked about the Andre story, and he says the gist of it was that they were on a bus, and Andre might've been drinking and joking with a racial overtone, and Allen took that very seriously, and even got on Callis's case for just saying that a black kid was across the street. Allen told Andre to keep his racial jokes to himself, and as Allen bent down to pick up his diamond earrings and Hogan ducked under the seat thinking that Allen was reaching for a gun. Callis said that Allen told Andre to "GET OFF THE fuckIN' BUS!"... I doubt that'll go well since this is broadcast over terrestrial radio.

Mike says that Allen wasn't well-liked in judo due to his outspoken attitude, but he was respected, and didn't like the politics in pro wrestling since he didn't understand why they were needed.

Dave asks Don about Allen's riot with the Stomper, but Don hasn't heard it from Allen, but that it was taken so seriously that the provincial government got involved, and Allen ended up being banned from Calgary due to it. Dave says that Ed Whalen walked out due to the riot, and Stu lost his Calgary promoter's license due to it, leading to them having to promote shows in Indian reservations. The angle was Bad News injuring the Stomper's "son", and it got over THAT well. Wow.

Don says that Allen used to tell him about traveling, and he got the sense that Allen really loved that aspect of the business since he loved being on the road and appreciating other cultures. Allen used to get up way earlier than anyone else, so Don got up just as early to pick his brain so he could learn - Allen had a twinkle in his eye when telling stories, even if it was for three hours.

Don says that Allen got his love for the business back about 9 years ago, but it happened when he was 54, and says that Allen loved harmless, funny ribs. He says that he would always rib Tim Flowers, and Allen would strain to refrain from laughing. He also told a story about Warrior, who apparently wasn't well-liked, went to News because he was honest about his 'Mania payoff before anyone else.

Mike says that the first Olympics he ever saw live was the one when Allen won his bronze medal, and that it'll be something he remembers forever. Allen put his whole life into judo, and sacrificed a lot to win that medal, and it meant a lot to Allen to win it.

Dave praises Allen for having such a long, eventful career in wrestling despite starting at 35. Callis says it's probably due to him becoming such a smart worker so quickly, and that he was a physical phenomenon despite the bad knees. He never smoked, drank or did steroids, which made his death more shocking to Callis. Mick Foley will be on WOL next week.

I was just watching AAA, and noticed that Psicosis is back on there (as Nicho el Millionario, a gimmick he had before becoming a "Mexicool"). Feuding with La Parka, evidently.

I never thought I'd praise Juventud Guerrera's wrestling knowledge, but he did something I've never seen tonight, something that makes complete sense.

Sometimes wrestlers blow spots when springboarding off the ropes, right? We've seen Jericho do it, Essa Rios made a habit of it, and it's not too uncommon in Lucha Libre. Hell, Shelton Benjamin took a nasty spill the other week. Anyway Guerrera was trying to springboard to the outside off the middle rope (not a turnbuckle, but the middle of the rope). He took a spill instead, racking himself on the top rope. He rolled back into the ring and clutched at his knee as if he blew it out. His opponents dragged him to a corner and hit his knee with a chair, and he was carried out of the match, to be replaced by Octagon. I'm not sure if he legit blew out his knee, or if it was a storyline, or they just ad libbed excellently, but for him to blow a spot and make it look so good was very impressive to me.

Sure, while Benjamin didn't get right back up, he more or less laid on the ground like a lump, which didn't sell the blown spot as well as Juvie.

Jeff Hardy did a hell of a job reacting to the blown spot by Benjamin. Now if Cena had been in there with him, he most likely would have pointed and laughed.
Off the top of my head, Brian Pillman comes to mind.
Definitely Pillman. Great wrestler, although he had a rather short football career due to injury.

I'm bummed out about Ladd, he wasn't in his 40's like many recent deaths, but 68 isn't that old... cancer claims another. I guess going a week without a former wrestler dying was asking for too much.

Nicho is actually feuding with Cibernético. He wants revenge cause Cibernético was the one that caused Konnan to have surgery. No idea why he dressed like fake parka though.

And I agree with everything you said about that Juvie spot. I too had no idea whether if it was planned our if he improvise it. Ashame he turned out the way he is cause I thought he could be great. Maybe even better then Rey .

Yeah,we need to talk more lucha around here:) .
I seriously doubt Cena will ever do a springboard in a match.
I meant Cena would have pointed and laughed and would do nothing to salvage the situation.

I can try, but I know fuck-all for spanish, so it's hard for me to talk about feuds and factions; I also watch so infrequently that most of the guys, save for Charly Manson, look alike to me. Well, maybe a few others (like Octagon). I miss seeing CMLL on Galavision, since they have Rey Bucanero (and Mistico, evidently, since WWE can't hire him like they want to).

Interesting that nobody's talking about Christian retaining over Joe. The "Last Rites" match seems to have made everyone left who cares turn on Russo.

Yeah, Bucanero is one of my fav luchadors along with Dr.Wagner, Dos Caras jr, and Abismo Negro. I myself am not a really big fan of Mistico but I can see why the WWE wanted him so bad. I think he would have been the perfect guy to replace Rey when he eventually retires.

If you have Fox sports en Espanol in your area CMLL comes on every Sunday at 9:00pm est. It's one hour but you get two matches with lots of good lucha.

haaaaaaaaaaaa

Jake "The Snake" Roberts had his false teeth come out of his mouth during a recent wrestling match with Casey Thompson at an indie show on 3/3 in Davie, Florida.

Roberts' appearance during the match was quite embarrassing. Roberts had a hard time getting up after going down, not to mention that he looked really out of shape. He looked disoriented in the ring at times as well. In regards to his teeth, Thompson delivered a forearm to Roberts while he was tied up on the ropes and his false teeth flew out of his mouth. The ref then kicked the teeth to the corner so that they wouldn't get stepped on. A security guard then grabbed them and gave them to Roberts, who then lodged them back into his mouth. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to fit correctly as Roberts may have also gotten a swollen jaw from the forearm.

After the show, Roberts told people at his gimmick table to always brush their teeth so that they don't lose them when they get older.
yea those fire russo chants were funny
Seriously I really wish the Impact Zone crowd would of kepted doing those "Fire Russo" chants more than just once. Because honestly TNA is heading down the same path that WCW did during its dying days. I mean look at the following from this PPV alone tonight and compare it to the late days of WCW:

A) Matches with a weak ending. Evidence: Angle vs Steiner.

B) Match with people in it that NOBODY cares about. Evidence: VKM vs The Heartbreakers.

C) A show with too many gimmick matches. Let me list EVERY gimmick from the show.

Sting vs Abyss - Last Rites Match,
AJ Styles vs Rhino - Elevation X Match
Senshi vs Austin Starr - Chicken Crossface Submission match
Jerry Lynn vs Chris Sabin - 2 out of 3 falls match
Team 3D vs LAX - Ghetto Fight

That is FIVE out of the nine matches on the show that had a gimmick attached to it. Now I don't mind a PPV having at least ONE gimmick match on the card as long as it is well booked, has a purpose on the card, and overall makes sense. But many of these on this PPV were added onto the matches during the last Impact which to me is NOT good booking.

D) Too many matches with run ins, ref bumps, cheating, etc etc etc. Which is NOTHING new with TNA since its conception. In fact there must be something written in the bookers rule book in the offices of TNA that states there must be at least five ref bumps per PPV.

E) The crowd had to ENTERTAIN themselves at one point by having a brawl break out during the Jerry Lynn vs Chris Sabin match. Too bad they couldn't of done that brawl during... say... the VKM vs Heartbreakers match.

Okay I could go on and on with this but I think everyone gets my point. The saddest part is that a year ago even the worst of TNA didn't bother me because at least there was always the great stuff that overshadowed anything bad at the time. But now... well... anything even remotely good is overshadowed by the bad. Quite frankly I'm afraid to see TNA die but if the bad booking like this continues then TNA is going to fall apart. And that is NOT good for the wrestling business period.

I am looking forward to this week's RAW along with Mania 23 however. Even though we all know HBK is going to turn on Cena the way its being done overall is some damn good storytelling. I'm looking forward to that match at Mania. The Billionares match is going to be a trainwreck. Same with Batistia vs Undertaker. But at least those two can be put under as "so bad its good."
I meant Cena would have pointed and laughed and would do nothing to salvage the situation.
I don't see Cena doing that, either. He might not be a five-star wrestler, but he'd no better than to do that during a match.
Heartbreakers... Heartthrobs... in either case they both suck.
holy shit it was them then.... i must dl this right away... awesome!!!

Looks like Melina is going to see "good luck in future endeavours" in her future.

Melina has been told that her WrestleMania match with Ashley will determine her future with the company.

wow that is kinda suprising..
Looks like Melina is going to see "good luck in future endeavours" in her future.
Ashley? Shit, that's like asking Ric Flair to get a five star match out of Great Khali, or else his ass is fired. Shame, really, since Melina is a *phenomenal* heel.

Okay, why are they still doing the VKM vs. Christy Hemme angle? It seems unnecessary and now they add the Heart Throbs to the lame ass story. I hope to god that TNA finally realizes that Russo is full of crap and fires his ass.

Then you got Christopher Daniels with a beard, that just sounds like Russo writing a storyline where Daniels is now "evil" cause he's got a beard.

Yea Destination X was pretty bad. Surprisingly, the match I thought was going to blow llamas was mildly entertaining. I'm talking of course about AJ vs. Rhino. Steiner/Angle was terrible. I expected much more. Joe/Christian wasn't that bad I guess... I like the whole Abyss-as-part-of-Christians-coalition-family story line. However, the Last Rites match was just ridiculous. Senshi/Starr was pretty good... Sabin/Lynn was OK. Daniels looks like a douche.... but I'm interested to see where he fits in.

Here's hoping that RAW won't suck tonight!

Just fire VKM. Please.

I think that depends on if it's a full beard or a goatee.

Divas are pretty expendable it seems. Vince probably has a field of backup women he can choose from. I think the fact that Trish, Stacy, and Lita are all gone speaks volumes.

On a side note, Christy Hemme looks a lot like Vanessa Lane's (not safe for googling at work) sister or something IMO.

She's not even close to phenomenal anything, but I have a feeling the point may be that they just want to get rid of her no matter what, so putting her in a no-win situation at least lets them say "hey, we gave you a chance!" The Salem Witch Trials are alive and well at Titan Tower.
Divas are pretty expendable it seems. Vince probably has a field of backup women he can choose from.
Yeah, that's what OVW is for. Strangely, Beth Phoenix's bio is still up on wwe.com and she's in OVW, but there's been no mention of her returning to WWE tv.

Strange thing is that the OVW diva matches are better than anything that's came out of WWE within the past 6 months. But that's probably cause they actually are training them, while WWE is just sticking them out and expecting them to produce a 5 star match with little or no training(Maria comes to mind).
