I can't believe I'm doing this topic...

Bam Bam Bios:
Obsessed with Wrestling
Wiki

Wrestling gimmicks come and go, there are the good ones, there are the bad ones, the ones we love to cheer, the ones we love to hate, the ones we'd love to never see again, and then there's the unforgettable ones that will never be duplicated. Gimmicks that are so original they succeed in leaving a lasting impression upon the fans no matter what ridiculous storyline the individual is involved in. These are the individuals that get brought up in conversations about wrestling in a "remember that guy!" way, and it's not really a question because no one can ever forget them. Bam Bam Bigelow was one of those individuals.

"The Beast from the East" simply had a unique presence about him, from the unmistakeable flames tattooed around his skull to the incredible agility he possessed at such a large size. There haven't been many 350lb+ wrestlers that incorporated the top rope into their finishing manuever. And who could forget the tale of Bam Bam gallantly rescuing two children from a fire, suffering burns over nearly half his body in the process? Perhaps that incident did the most to shed some light into the type of person Scott Bigelow was.

Throughout his in-ring career, Bigelow, was linked to some of the biggest names in wrestling, including teaming with Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash during his WWF Title run as Diesel. Additionally Bigelow headlined Wrestlemania XI with NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor.

After the WWF, Bigelow had great success as one of ECW's top guys, even holding the ECW World Championship for awhile. Bigelow wound up finishing his on TV in-ring career in the WCW, holding the hardcore title. Unfortunately Bigelow never held WWF gold.

Bigelow's passing adds one more name to the ever-growing list of professional wrestlers that have simply died far too young.

It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we say goodbye to Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow.

To clear up any and all confusion as to why there's two wrestling topics, in light of today's unfortunate events the other topic will be temporarily locked and re-opened after the Bam Bam tribute.

Watch the whole thing, or from about 8 minutes on.

One of Bam Bam's finest matches, and a sad reminder of what ECW used to be as well.

Didn't Bam Bam rush into a burning house and save some people. I swear I heard that somewhere. RIP Bam Bam.

Yeah.

Bam Bam was hard.

RIP one of the last big (fat) wrestlers from the early 90's. When I was little I always liked the big wrestlers cause they were big (fat) like me.

In July '00, Bigelow proved that wrestlers can be heroes without the benefit of storylines. Bigelow suffered second-degree burns over 40% of his body while saving 3 children from a brush fire in New Jersey, heroically pulling them out despite the injuries. This earned Bigelow more respect than any wrestling match had ever given him. But it also put Bigelow on the shelf for a long time, as he recovered from the devestating burns.

Bam Bam, I geuss, said himself that that was just a storyline to explain his abscence from WCW tv. At least, that's what Wiki said, but now it's gone off his wiki page.

I like how Vito is over with the crowd, but they continue to have him in a shitty, stagnant gimmick.

Bring back The Mamalukes, or something. The dress thing is / was stupid (Saturn).

I can see why you like them as much as you do. For a squash match they put on a really good show and look like they have some real talent.

Sorry to hear that about Bam Bam... always seemed like a crazy sort of tough guy to me. Loved his WWF and ECW work.

Duece and Domino looked good out there.
I think there's a typo in the OP. He never held WCW gold?
He was WCW Hardcore Champion.

Saw D&D, remembered myke mentioning them from OVW. They could use a better tag finisher.

I don't understand how you guys can hate the Miz. I love the gimmick they currently have him in, where they put him up against huge guys and he comes out with a dopey scared look on his face, and then he gets completely squashed. I could watch that every week!

He makes a great whipping boy, and I think he plays the part well.

JBL has been excellent so far tonight, and I'm glad to see Saturn get a mention in this thread, because he's also a hero - he saved a woman from being raped and was shot twice in the neck as a result.

I just can't stand that stupid ass hair cut.

And the hoo-rah? That is the lamest thing since since John Cena's cheapsauce.

I used Bigelow alot in my Fire Prowrestling fed on my ps2. I few months ago I had a ppv called 'Greetings from Asbury Park' and the main event was Bam Bam vs. Samoa Joe. Bigelow won.

Wow. Definitely didn't think Bam Bam Bigelow would be the first wrestling to pass away in 2007.

To add to his WCW gold, he was also co-WCW Tag Team Champions with DDP.

And...he kicked some Wayans ass in Major Payne.

mother fucker. Seeing a blog posted by Marty Jannetty on Myspace isn't exactly the best way to break this news to me.

Here I was just recently bitching that he doesn't come out to his "Bam.. BAM!" music on SvsR 07. Dude. This is lame.

fuck this, The Beast from the East shall start a path of destruction tomorrow night on SvsR 07.

RIP Bam Bam :( (His first ECW theme)
Yeah, it frees him up to win the Rumble now
Blech.

Hah! That was my very first gripe about that game, as I had him as my opponent in my first match. "WHERE THE fuck IS HIS HILARIOUS MUSIC?

Taker looked great last night. I haven't watched Smackdown in quite a while since I'm not buying into this "BEST WRESTLING SHOW IN YEARS!" bullshit, but all that match did was make me want to see a Finlay vs. Taker match at WM, instead of what we're going to get.

Is Kennedy getting fat or is that how he always looked? He's got that "ripped fat guy" look that Kane has going right now.

He's always looked like that.

I couldn't see the finish of that match, as my CW cut it off with commercials.
