Something to get excited about, guyver - Survivor Series 2007 is going to be at American Airlines Arena (it was moved from Montreal to Miami).

On another note, the WWE claims it will be holding another ECW: One Night Stand (what an absurd name now that they're on TV every week) at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. Let me be the first to predict it will not be anywhere *NEAR* the northeast area by the time ONS rolls 'round.

Randy Orton came across as more of a respectable heel than ever before by NOT posing and simply backing up into the corner.

DAMN!

Canada gets no love.

Reading all your posts about WWE Dvds, and reflecting upon my own collection has made me realize the absolute worst part about Angle leaving the WWE* - he'll never get a proper WWE DVD now. Sure he will get a TNA DVD sooner than later (hell he might already have one knowing TNA) but it won't be nearly as good as the DVD sets WWE produces. As stunning as it is, for all WWE's short-commings in the past 5+ years, they sure know how to do quality DVDs.

I'd really like to see some of the Angle/Jericho matches again, as well as, all the great Angle/Benoit matches, Angle winning his first world title from Rock, the great Angle/HHH feud plus all the Angle/SMH situations that arose from that feud, Angle/Austin & McMahon, Angle/Taker, Angle/Eddie, Angle/Brock, Team Angle, Angle/HBK, Angle/Edge, maybe even his final mini-feud with RVD when he got dropped in ECW... I could easily fill a 10 hour DVD with quality Angle matches.

Alas, I'm thinking about something that's just never gonna happen. Instead we may get a Self-Destruction of Kurt Angle DVD  or maybe, just maybe if we're all really good and very lucky Kurt will end up like Bret Hart in the end and get put into the WWE Hall of Fame, as well as, get a great DVD.

I believe a DVD on Angle's career is almost guaranteed within the next 7 years when either A) Angle dies or B) Angle mends fences with Vince.

Bah, I hope it isn't. I'd go see that, if the timing were right. It's only 6 hours by train.

God I hope so... they can use this match list (ripped from OVW)!

1. February 27, 2000 - No Way Out: Kurt Angle vs Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental title
2. September 24, 2000 - Unforgiven: Triple H vs Kurt Angle in a NO DQ match
3. October 22, 2000 - No Mercy: Kurt Angle vs The Rock for the WWF Heavyweight title
4. December 10, 2000 - Armageddon: Kurt Angle vs The Rock, Steve Austin, Undertaker, HHH & Rikishi in a Hell in a Cell match for the WWF Heavyweight title
5. April 29, 2001 - Backlash: Chris Benoit vs Kurt Angle in a 30-minute Submissions Iron Man match
6. May 20, 2001 - Judgement Day: Angle vs Benoit in a 2/3 falls match for Kurt's medals; 1st fall - regular match, 2nd fall - submission match, 3rd fall - ladder match
7. June 24, 2001 - King of the Ring: Kurt Angle vs Shane McMahon in Street Fight match
8. July 2001: Kurt Angle vs Booker T for the WCW Title
9. September 23, 2001 - Unforgiven: Kurt Angle vs Steve Austin for the WWF Federation title!
10. April 21, 2002 - Backlash: Kurt Angle vs Edge
11.June 23, 2002 - King of the Ring: Kurt Angle vs Hulk Hogan
12. July 21, 2002 - Vengeance: The Rock vs The Undertaker (Champ) vs Kurt Angle in a 3-WAY for the Undisputed title
13. January 19, 2003 - Royal Rumble: Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit for the WWE title
14. July 27, 2003 - Vengeance: Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar vs The Big Show for the WWE championship!
15. September 18, 2003 - Smackdown!: Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle in a "60 Minute Iron Man" match for the WWE title
16. October 3, 2005 - WWE Homecoming: Kurt Angle vs Shawn Michaels in a 30-minute Iron Man match

Give or take a match or two, Taker's set was 20 matches long, but Kurt's matches are longer... 10 hours would probably work here.

Extras would have to include:
The kazoo piece with Edge & Christian
Kurt bringing out the stuffed monkey and calling it baby-HHH
The milk truck
Austin, Angle, McMahon and Austin's cowboy hat for Kurt
Kurt's promo with Rey where he says he's a man that likes to play with boys
Kurt & Brock's push-up contest
GM Kurt
Sensational Sherri doing "Sexy Kurt"

It's a shame that Kurt only got a VHS release, and like Jericho, was never given a DVD release despite men who did far less (like RVD) getting one. I wouldn't mind a TNA release for Angle, as it would save me from having to buy each PPV's DVD set to get his TNA matches on DVD.

As for Raw, I thought the main event and Umaga splashing Cena through a table were its highlights - nothing else really stuck out as being either memorable or great. I didn't like that a Raw vs. SD match was thrown away, or that we'll be getting the blowoff to Mercury nearly having his face caved in one month after, when they could easily have four months of angles for it and finish the feud at 'Mania.

You'd need the Kurt Angle v. Shawn Michaels match from Wrestlemania 21. Not only was it the best match those 2 have ever put on but Kurt ended up winning it too.
street fight = someone forgot their tights or luggage was late at the airport.
Well played. I recall, years ago, seeing The Undertaker (on tv) wrestling in his sweatpants and a black sweatshirt (this may have been during the "ministry" days). It was quite apparent that someone's stirrups, trenchcoat, and wide-brimmed hat were lost at baggage claim.

As for that ECW dvd, it just isn't worth the money for me until it's $10 or less. That second disc is entirely stuff from the SciFi ECW show, so it's pretty much a wash as far as I'm concerned. I may even cross reference someday and see which of the matches from disc 1 are on videos I already own.

EDIT: I like the Angle list, and I'd buy that in a heartbeat. It also reminds me about something interesting about Angle - looking at the skits/vignettes listed, even though he now says he hated being goofy and a funny character, he was clearly *phenomenal* at it. I suppose I like (and believe) the "intense" Angle, but something about him in the cowboy hat with Steve Austin...

Which DVD is that?
Which DVD is that?
The new "Extreme Rules" one; Guyver linked to it in the above post, sorry for not being clearer.

Upon close inspection, there are *two* matches on the first disc that aren't on the ECW dvds I own:

- FTW champion Sabu vs. ECW World champion Tazz: ECW Death match - Living Dangerously '99.

- Mike Awesome vs. ECW World champion Masato Tanaka White Plains, NY 12/31/99.

And the entire second disc is all new ECW stuff. There's a few above average matches in there, but nothing that comes close to dvd-compilation worthy.
Disk #1:

- Sandman vs. Cactus Jack (Singapore Cane vs. Barbed Wire) Hardcore Heaven '95.

- Gangstas vs. Eliminators in a Natural Born Killaz cage weapons match (8/24/96).

- Tommy Dreamer vs. Brian Lee High Incident scaffold match (10/26/96, with Jonathan Coachman & Dreamer doing new secondary commentary).

- Sandman vs. Sabu Stairway to Hell (House Party '98).

- The Dudleys Boyz vs. The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer & Spike Dudley in Extreme Street Fight (Heatwave '98).

- FTW champion Sabu vs. ECW World champion Tazz: ECW Death match - Living Dangerously '99.

- Mike Awesome vs. ECW World champion Masato Tanaka White Plains, NY 12/31/99.

- Tables, Ladders, Chairs & Canes: ECW World champion Steve Corino vs. The Sandman vs. Justin Credible (Guilty as Charged '01).

Disc #2:

- The Dudley Boyz vs. Tommy Dreamer & Sandman (ECW One Night Stand).

- WWE World champion Rey Mysterio vs. Rob Van Dam (WWE vs. ECW special).

- WWE World champion Rey Mysterio vs. Sabu (ECW One Night Stand II).

- Mick Foley & Edge & Lita vs. Tommy Dreamer & Terry Funk & Beulah (ECW One Night Stand II).

- ECW World champion RVD vs. Big Show (7/4/06).

- ECW World champion Big Show vs. Ric Flair (7/11/06).

- Sabu vs. Rob Van Dam: Ladder match (8/16/06).

- Rob Van Dam & Sabu vs. Test & Mike Knox (9/5/06).

- Rob Van Dam vs. Hardcore Holly from 9/26/06.
I can't really see that second disc being worth it.

WWE's imitation brand of "hardcore", with polished aluminum trash cans filled with contrived, clean weapons, and a couple of ladders here and there, is lame.

Not to mention the late '80s early '90s wrestling abilities.

True - to be clear, I mean the dvd set isn't worth it for *me*, because I'm the foolio with all those matches on dvd already. That first disc may be worth it for others, but even if I didn't have them already, that second disc is off-putting.

It's like your mom telling you she'll buy you something at the game store if you go to the movies with your least-liked sibling.

Ah. I see.

Say, for those who have seen ECW One Night Stand, what was the crowd reception like for Mike Awesome?

Hot - just like it was for everyone on the card. I'm with mykevermin on this new ECW release - it just isn't worth full price. I still haven't got the last ECW comp WWE put out, and I don't see myself buying one filled with new ECW stuff, even though Flair-Show is great, and I am interested in seeing just how many edits WWE makes to the Sabu-RVD ladder match.
Ah. I see.

If I recall correctly, not much of a pop for the entrance (possibly sell out chants?) but the match itself was a show stealer, big cheers afterwards.

Ya, that was definitely one of his better matches, and one I put on my list there initially, but when I went back I cut all the WM matches. I know not everyone owns the WM box set, or even WM 21 for that matter, but I hate when they put a lot of matches you already own on to a new DVD.

The sole reason I didn't buy Piper's DVD was because I already owned more than half the matches on it. Some say that the Piper's Pit segments alone are worth the price, but I believe you can still find a great deal of those on youtube. Call me old fashioned, but I like different matches on different DVDs.

It's a shame Awesome left ECW -- more of a shame how WCW misused him.

yea these edited wwe ecw dvd's dont work well for me..

crap i always buy the ecw dvd's but after december to forget i havent bothered.....
It's a shame Awesome left ECW -- more of a shame how WCW misused him.
Which pales in comparison, of course, to how the WWE misused him; then again, since most of it happened during the WWF destroys everybody else "Invasion" storyline, it was probably hard to see his body lying underneath all those other guys who were summarily buried.

Jay, why would WWE edit the ladder match you mentioned?

EDIT: I'd like to say that, when I hear the name "Marquis Cor Von," I picture something like this:

You and me both... when I first heard the name I thought WWE had repackaged him as some kind of regal chap.

It's so bad that I can't even remember what they did with him.

wwf basically had him win the hardcore title on one of the first nights of invasion angle and then he pretty much did nothing...

tagged with storm for a bit

I thought they would bring him since he had a strong showing at ons 2005

I stil pop in my invasion dvd every now and then....

I've only got the Undertaker, Lesnar, & Benoit DVDs. After seeing Benoit - I think it spoiled me on these bio DVDs. In fact, I used to love my Undertaker DVD, until I saw how it should have been done watching the Benoit one. Wikipedia says the Undertaker DVD is the most successful selling non-PPV DVD in the WWE library. As much as I love me some Taker...that statistic sucks, cause it tells me people are really missing out on some great shit here.
Anyone ever got any of the WWF comics? I had Stone Cold #1.
I had (have?) some from the early '90s.

A couple trade paperbacks that are split into three stories, or so. The Mountie, Big Boss Man, The Ultimate Warrior, The Undertaker, etc.

Really fuckin' corny. I traded a couple shitty G.I. Joes for them, back in time.

I have all of the Undertaker comics that Chaos did, including the specials/number 0/preview books/etc. I originally bought the photo covers AND art covers, but knocked that off after the first two or three issues and just stuck with the art covers.

Not a terrible series, and much better than the Nash and Warrior books, and the best series from the line that Chaos did (an Austin book and a Chyna book), but not really worth tracking down either.

Watching ECW One Night Stand for the first time. (Found a good two-pack deal with Rise & Fall of ECW).

Just got done with the Awesome vs. Tanaka match, so I'm not quite done -- Great match, by the way.

I loved RVD's "shoot". (Was it a shoot?) Regardless, it was 100% true. I also loved seeing Alfanso again.

ONS is even better when you watch the original PPV broadcast version and not the hacked up WWE DVD version. Nothing beats hearing the entire crowd sing along to "Enter Sandman" when Sandman is coming out. :D

Bam Bam was one of my favorite wreslers. He was up there with Hulk, Andre the Giant, The Ultimate Warrior, Rey Mysterio, and "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka.

I wish I had. (I probably still can, via-torrent.)

That PPV occured when I gave up on the settle-for-less current state of professional wrestling; completely off my radar.

Is One Night Stand '06 any good?

Edge / Foley vs Funk / Dreamer was AWESOME.

I don't remember much more... I remember Mysterio / Sabu being awesome too.

Oh yeah, and Cena / RVD when Cena gets pissed at the crowd and they keep throwing his t-shirt back in.
