Batman Arkham Asylum - Gen. Discussion & Info
Three things that I wish this game had

1. Manual Save, instead of just auto-save

2. Ability to replay certain parts of the game (i.e. chapters, boss fights) Some of the scenes were fun to play, and I wanted to play them again. However now I have to start a whole new game just to get to it

3. Replaying the cut-scenes. I wish there was a theater mode or something to replay some of the cut-scenes. The cut-scenes were awesome, and I wanted to see them again.

Otherwise this game is fucking amazing.
I agree with all of these, though in the end they're pretty minor quibbles - and if that's all we can come up with it's a testament to how good the game is.
I'd love to be able to replay the Scarecrow "fight". It was very odd but at the same time a very memorable encounter.

I am hooked!!!! Started at 9pm, next thing I know its 2am, what only felt like an hour, thats how much fun this is. Also looking for the Riddler's puzzles is fun as shyt

Played it for a little bit last night. I really like the game, but the saving feature really bothers me. Sometimes I cant play games for very long or I have to quit playing suddenly and really would love to be able to save my game when I want so I can pick it back up and continue where I left off later.

Does anyone know when the game chooses to save or does it save automatically at certain timed intervals? Can you tell when it is actually saving? I played for about 15 minutes just running around looking for secrets in one area and had to quit, when I loaded my save back up I was at the beginning of a room I already cleared and didn't have anything I had found.

Sure it's a very nit-picky issue, but it just makes it harder for me to be able to pick up and play if I only have 30 minutes here and there. Please post if you figure out how the auto saves work or there is a way to tell when it is saving.

Just look on the bottom right hand side of the screen. There's a swirling white thing that comes up when its saving. Basically as was said, whenever the game loads up a new area it'll save

Played this game for about 5 hours straight yesterday and will continue to enjoy it later on tonight after class. I'm currently 21% complete and
just beat Bane and rescued the hostages in the room w/ the chandelier, but I'm so fucking lost on where to go to find Dr. Young.
.

I like the atmosphere of the game and the combat is fun to watch and play, even though the combat buttons are limited.

So far, do I feel that this game deserved all its hype? Meh, it feels to me like a competent game based off a well-established character (although I know NONE of the Batman lore), but I haven't done anything yet that makes it deserve the reviews its been getting.

Is it worth the full $60 to me? No, but it is so far a definitely great game for ~$43 after Amazon discounts.

Man, I HATE buying games for full price. I think I may have to run out and get this one after work though. Everything I've heard on it sounds awesome.

Yep. This game falls victim to the.....where the f*ck am I going syndrome.

If anyone knows where to go after you save the guards in the West Wing I would appreciate it.

I guess Im the same way. Im enjoying it but I honestly don't feel there is much special about it. Just me though.

Near-the-end spoiler:

Upon arriving to the "party", there was a hall of thugs with party hats on cheering me on. I took them all out. I lol'ed pretty hard when I actually got an achievement for it, aptly titled "party pooper".. Awesome.

Just beat it. Pretty fun game. Pretty repetitive. Aside from bosses, there's like.. maybe five different types of regular enemies (unarmed, with a gun, with a stun gun, with a sniper rifle, with knives) and two more advanced enemies (I don't know what they're called, they're like Tank in Left 4 Dead). Worth a playthrough, but glad I didn't buy it.

Titan henchmen. There's also the plants. How many types of enemies did you expect there to be? It's an asylum, they picked up whatever weapons they could. If you play it like a beat 'em up, I can see how it can get repetitive, but there's so many options as to taking out the enemies with stealth, that I never got bored.

The stealth was the only fun I had with the combat, honestly. Hanging upside down, stealth takedowns, the grappling hook (what is it they call it? grapnling gun or something?).. it was all fun. I do wish the combo/score multiplier lasted a bit longer, though.

I really, really enjoyed the Scarecrow segments with flashbacks and hallucinations. They could make an entire game off of that. The parents in the body bags, the fake restart flashback (I seriously thought my game froze), the back alley flashbacks.. it was great. The stealth elements with Croc was a nice change of pace as well.

On the mission when you rescue Warden Sharp, in the bottom cell was one of the cops.. after rescuing Sharp, when you go back down, Sharp is now in the cell.. I know it's not actually Sharp (or maybe it is, I skipped the cutscene after I rescued him, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't, since the cop was just in there), so who was it actually in the cell? Was there a Batman villain that could take the form of other people?

When I walked in the room where Harley Quinn was sitting with her legs up on the table am I the only one who IMMEDIATELY zoomed in on her panties? She is seriously hot in this game.

hehe perv... :p

Anyways this is an amazing game. I wish I didn't have to be in Detective mode 90% of the time.

The Scarecrow levels were a trip....literally

Nope.. lol. I felt really bad when
Batman locks her up in the cage and she starts crying
. I posted a topic on it, but I agree with the artists that rendered and photoshopped Kristen Bell as Harley Quinn.. she'd be perfect

Man I really love this game so far. Bioshock has been a popular comparison to this recently, I agree when talking about the environments. The levels feel "alive" similar to the levels in Bioshock, mostly because of both games excellent sound design. I really love trying to solve the Riddler's puzzles even though I kind of suck at them. Speaking of the Riddler's puzzles, can anyone that has finished the game confirm/deny that you can continue playing the game after you finish it? I just want to know if I will be able to continue searching for "?" symbols and trying to solve the various riddles after I finish the game. I will be much less apt to try to 100% this if I have to play thru the game again just to try to 100% it all over again.

Yes, you can continue playing the game after you beat it. I'm doing that now and going back and getting things that I missed before.

Thanks, sean. I'm not too terribly familiar with the DC Universe.

Looks like many people have beaten the game already, also read a few places that the game is easily beatable in less than 4~5 excluding the 90 minutes of cut scenes? Is this true the game is that short? That is only one night of after work play for 60$?

I'll be completely honest with you. I got this game at 8pm on Tuesday and played non-stop until 1am. When I finished, the game screen said I had 21% complete.

I played last night again for literally 5 straight hours and when I finished, the game screen showed 52%.

I spend time looking for riddles that are solvable and finding things but have not skimped on going through the story. The game is long if you decide to find the riddles (I have just got the 55% riddle complete trophy). I haven't touched the Challenge Mode and I absolutely will play through the game on Hard.

In my opinion, I think this game is one of my top 5 favorite games ever, honest to God. It has cinematic elements, amazing environments, fun fights, great story, amazing looks, lots of fun abilities to unlock/gadgets to get, and 240 Riddles to solve. It really is so much fun and I am never going to regret buying the game. I honestly wouldn't say this much about many games but the production value is through the roof here.

The game took me 10 hours to complete. This was my first run-through on easy. It's definitely not a 4-5 hour game. It's a little longer than average (that's what she said).

When I beat it, it said that I had completed 62% of the game. As I said, that was a quick, basic runthrough. I didn't scour for riddles or anything like that. I'm going back and doing that now, though.

Are you playing on the PS3 because I don't see it on your 360 gamercard?

Sonofabitch. I finished up the game earlier this afternoon and just walked right by all the thugs.

Anyways, the game was awesome, albeit a tad easy (was playing on normal). Most of the boss battles took like two tries, but they weren't hard. Overall though, the game was great. I'm totally pumped for a second one, especially since it'll most likely involve Two-Face (if you listen to the police scanner at the end, it says Harvey Dent robbed Gotham Bank).

Oh and...BANE LIVES!

Are you talking about the end cutscene? I coulda swore that was Killer Croc.

OH MY GOD after playing the demo, I CANNOT wait to get this game. Watching the review on GT got me even more hyped. I just have to wait for it to drop from 45.00 to 30.00 on gamestaq.

I just want my copy from Amazon to get here. But I can wait for it, I guess. Thats what I get for being cheap on shipping. Shipped Monday, but nothing has been updating tracking wise on my account.

someone help please

I am at the part where you in the situation where Joker trapped a few Orderlies (sp?) and he will drop them into a pit if his henchmen see you or you try to take down any of them. Where is the leader I need to take down. There is one dude I can only see in Detective mode which he is inside some glass area that I can't break.
Suggestions?

I'll be jumping into this possibly tonight on PS3. Can't wait - if it's anything like Bioshock / Splinter Cell with Batman I'm going to play the crap out of it.

Yeah, the end cutscene was clearly Banes arm grabbing more of that Titan juice stuff. At least, it sure looked like Banes arm to me. I thought I saw his cord things on his back.

Are you talking about the part where he has the two doctors locked in the bird cages? If so, you need to just sneak past like the lower three goons and climb the ladder up to the control post to take out the guy manning the lever up there.

Thanks

Got passed that part :)

Now I am on my way to Crock's lair in Intensive Care... suddenly my 360 started graphic glitching and making a scratching sound and so I shut it down for the night...hopefully no red ring next time.

Are you sure it just wasn't part of Scarecrows gas? There is a part where it acts like your game is freaking out.

I am stuck! :(

I am at the part where Joker throws the guard in the water and then the guard is electrocuted. Then when I go to the generator room I can't find a way to get it off.

Anyone know how? I have been trying this for the past hour but failed to figure anything out. :/

from what i remember seeing it was scarecrow's arm, because i could have sworn i saw his needle fingers

hmmm

Good question. It looked like video card graphic glitches like what you would see on a video card that is overheating. If it was
the scarecrow gas, I just fucked up my game progress by jumping back to the dashboard and then shutting down :(

Haha yup, should have waited like...2 seconds because if you listen closely, the intercom has a woman say "So anyone catch the game last night" and that right away to me hinted something was up. About 5 whole seconds later, the intro video played again and I knew it was a trick

oh fuck!!! and yes I did hear that intercom voice!

Man...that really fucked me up.... almost felt like I was playing Eternal Darkness on the cube again

:applause:

Hm, 48% completion with around 140 of the Riddler challenges solved.

I just back into Intensive Treatment and saved right at the point where you're put into a room full of armed guards and the Joker plants bombs on the gargoyles.

So far, I really enjoy the Scarecrow segments, even though they don't involve any actual combat to them.

Regarding the ending after the credits:

There are three multiple endings that I have heard of. Me, personally, I saw Killer Croc's arm. I've also heard that Bane's arm grabs it, as well as Scarecrow's.

Are you playing on the PS3 because I don't see it on your 360 gamercard?

I am indeed. I picked up that one for the Joker challenge match.

Yea this seems to be the case, as I am 100% sure Bane came out of the water during the end of my playthrough.

Wow, really?

I wonder what determines it? I beat it on hard, for what it's worth, but if you saw Killer Croc as well, it's not difficulty.

Definitely not difficulty, I flew threw it on Easy.

Perhaps a certain number of riddles found? Maybe how many times you died playing that boss?

How many times did you die at Killer Croc? I think he killed me like three times.

Hey, anyone doing well on the combat challenges. I suck at it. What strategies work the best to get the longest combos? I think my problem is button mashing and timing my attacks.

Does anyone have any advice to give me to help me out? God! This is frustrating!
