In "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," the latest interpretation of the classic Batman franchise, our caped crusader is teamed up with heroes from across the DC Universe, delivering nonstop action and adventure with a touch of comic relief. Blue Beetle, Green Arrow, Aquaman and countless others will get a chance to uphold justice alongside Batman. Though still based in Gotham, Batman will frequently find himself outside city limits, facing situations that are both unfamiliar and exhilarating. With formidable foes around every corner, Batman will still rely on his stealth, resourcefulness and limitless supply of cool gadgets to bring justice home.

It has certaintly taken a big change from TAS, Batman Beyond, and The Batman series. Seems to go back to its classic TV Show/Comic book roots. I personally wished that they didn't but I'll be willng to give it a fair shot.
 
You know hated the new Transformers Animated look, but look at me now! fuckING LOVE THAT SHOW! So I'll give it a shot.

I read this the other day and was going to post this in the DC thread.

I dunno about this show. The Batman was tolerable. Not a good idea to do it in this style.
 
That title is horrible. It sounds like a soap opera.

Art style is also terrible.

They should just re-run the early seasons of TAS, when it actually looked stylized and awesome, instead of desecrating the series.

Hell, let's see some more mature based 'toons. People are so in love with Batman at the moment. Capitalize on it. Might finally pave the way for Americans to understand that cartoons can be adult in nature.
 
The title "The Brave and Bold" is often used by DC Comics. It has been the title of various stories.

I probably won't get to watching this animated series, but it can't be worse than The Batman. If it is, may it be hurled into the sun (alongside The Batman).

They should have saved the title for a cartoon series that didn't have a real continuation but was just a different story each episode featuring different heroes. Kind of like JL Unlimited was.

Wait, I think I might have heard about this series before.

I think it was called Justice League, and it's follow-up, Justice League Unlimited.

Looks like they're trying to do the DC comics-style animation look, and unfortunately, it looks like ass.

TAS was the best Batman adaptation to date, and that certainly had the comic book look down right.

You say that as if it were a bad show. It was incredibly well-written with plenty of darker storylines. And that's not even counting Return of the Joker...
 
After watching that footage, I think I'm looking forward to this. Don't get me wrong, I love B:TAS with a passion, but as a comic fan, I see a lot of potential in this. Batman wasn't always the dark, brooding seeker of vengeance that we've all come to know and love. I think it's cool to see an update of an older style of Batman. Also, seeing characters like Plastic Man, Gentleman Ghost, and even the new Blue Beetle (Rest in peace, Ted Kord. You will be missed.) is kind of exciting. I hope this series lives up to it's potential of being a nice counter-point to the sublime B:TAS.
 
You people are crazy. This looks terrific. Obviously nothing is going to be as good as TAS, but this looks totally respectable and even fun, with a smart art style and snappy design decisions. Batman and a rotating superhero co-star fighting with aliens and/or swords? Maybe it will be to The Dark Knight what the later Connery Bonds were to Casino Royale, but let's not forget that everyone loves the Connery Bonds.

At first I didn't think the art was too bad. Then I studied it for a few minutes from an art major point of view. It is crap; the bottom half of Batman and Green Arrow look like they're not even finished.

I personally like Beyond just a little bit more than TAS, course I had a cute little fangirl crush on McGinnis. XP Now I just prefer the art style, new villains, and futuristic setting more.

And I think people didn't quite warm up to Beyond because it's too different from the original.
 
Ok, there it is, it timed out for me twice when I first posted.

The target audience for "The Brave and the Bold" is broadly based but I believe it works demographically for 6-15. It fits well within Cartoon Network's new initiative for boy's action/adventures shows.

Oh well there we go. I can't stand The Batman, Transformers (DEAR GOD THE GIANT CHINS!!), Ben 10/Alien Force, or Johnny Test either.

...I miss Justice League Unlimited. Wouldn't mind some Beyond reruns either, since they just showed Return of the Joker last night.

I absolutely agree. The title would make more sense for an animated movie.

I agree, The Batman actually was decent by the end and the fight animation choreography was actualy really, really good for the most part.

I know new things aren't easy to accept, but that preview pic looks like crap.

Nah, Batman Beyond is tight. The movie is the best of all the DCAU movies IMO and the series was outstanding except in how the ending was handled.

Yes, you're right. At one time Batman was castrated and was a ridiculous pile of camp, the comic version of the adam west show. Then in the 80s, they finally "gave Batman his balls back" as Frank Miller said.

I don't understand this show, back in the 90s we had a less dark batman film franchise, but a darker animated show. Now we have a darker movie franchise, but this kiddie garbage for a cartoon.

Yes. Batman Beyond's Return of the Joker is one of my favorite animated movies. It is a stellar contribution to comic book movies in general (and yes, I know it started off as an animated series).

Jake, I assume it's just a balance. While I would prefer a more adult animated series like Justice League, I assume Cartoon Network wants to appease their target audience: kids.

Well, at least we have DVDs of past series.
