Battlefield 3- Premium announced; 4 new expansions
Unfortunately, you gotta unlock the heat seeking missiles. Once you get those puppies, you'll have 100x more fun flying jets.
I don't even use heat seeking missiles anymore. I use the free fire missiles. I've gotten to the point where I can own people in the air with my cannon just fine. Heat seeking missiles are kind of pointless now that everyone has flares since they fly around like idiots just deploying them. Its easier to just get a drop on them and take them down.

The servers have been smoothed out for the most part. The only map that has consistent issues is Tehran Highway. That map always has rubber band lag. Dice is supposed to be working on it though.

To join the platoon go to: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655241033136176/ or search for "Cheapassgamer" 13 of us so far, pretty cool site!

If you can fly a jet you'll be gazed upon with amazement by the platoon, i'm the top pilot with 0 score per minute. LOL

I think I FINALLY unlocked some guns that I can kill people with on a regular basis which is sad because i'm a level 23. I had been forced to play as an anti vehicle guy or medic/support which is fun as can be but gun play seriously pissed me off to no end in this game. I'm way to agressive and barely played BC2... I think tonight i'm going to run a ethernet cable up from the basement and see if lag is a problem for me.

I am totally new to Battlefield and I can't decide if I hate this game or like it. The play style is cool and if you can get a good team its fun. However getting a good team is next to impossible. Why is everyone obsessed with sniping? Now before I get called a hypocrite when someone looks at my stats, my "sniper" kills have all been using iron sights or a holo sight. I have bad aim with an automatic so I use those rifles like the FAL in MW2. I have been trying Rush but I can't get a decent team for the life of me. Usually 5 moron snipers and a couple idiots in vehicles then the rest of us to go for the objectives. Also is it just me or does leveling take way too damn long? Then when you do level you find out the weapon/equipment/whatever sucks anyways.

If you see me on and what to play just send me an invite TakeoverClown13 and I will warn you, I either suck or do medicore so don't expect more ;)

Ill join up the next time I'm on the log.

I can fly choppers and jets just fine. Flying and actually scoring kills is another story. Its a little easier in the attack chopper but how do you even score points in scout choppers? No guns so I just fly around spotting. Kinda sucks.

I have a couple of SPECACT codes to give away. First to PM me can have me them. Was going to sell them but I am in generous mood now. :D

Codes are gone.

Ooh, do you still have a code left?
Hmm, I think it was before that. You're sent upstairs, come back down, kill some guys near a deck looking out over the ocean, and then it's the stairs up in the next room. It's kinda hard to explain.

I'm glad someone else liked it, it was one of my favorite campaigns in an FPS for some time.
You're talking about my favorite level, sound-wise, Kaffarov. I played it with my AX180's...man that DAO-12 and M60E4 sound amazing.
:D I played the campaign on Hard, and it was. Your health goes down quicker and the A.I. is more accurate with their bullets :wall: It really pissed me off; I started cursing with f-bombs, mofos, etc. and tired towards the end saying, "Aww man, I shot you fiiirrrst." Operation Guillotine pissed me off the most.

The MoH campaign was excellent, imo. I played through the campaign in one sitting, I don't ever do that. I don't know about you guys, but I felt immersed in the MoH campaign, like I was living the missions with the guys. Maybe because I saw all the Tier 1 videos in the week leading up to the release.

This :360:Battlefield 3 campaign was good but I wasn't really immersed and played an hour/hour and a half a day over the course of 5 days.

I could see the campaign being enjoyable if they would have just toned down the auto-aim for enemies and/or have given more generous checkpoints. I'm a pretty mellow gamer and this was the first game in years that I was frustrated to the point of wanting to quit and this was on normal. Hard was unbearable after the first couple of levels for me.

Like others I've also wondered about the functionality of the platoons. Is there any? It's great to have a CAG group on Battlelog but is that pretty much all it is? Can you do anything with it in the game or is it just a social thing to do on the computer? I'm glad to see so many new entries today, though.

I greatly prefer the multiplayer but the co-op was actually a lot of fun as well. I've only done 3 of the levels thus far. You even get some decent rewards like the G3 if you eventually earn enough co-op score. I'd like to eventually go for the achievements and MAYBE hard mode after that if it's any better than the campaign. Does anyone else want to do the co-op soon and go for the achievements? I'm thinking we can just restart if we blow one of the requirements.

Also, just sent a bunch of FRs to those in the platoon if you see one from Jaskull.

I'd be interested in doing some of the co-op missions for the achievements. I got the first two already, but I'd be willing to help anyone get them, too. The fucking "Ninjas" one is a bitch without good teamwork.

If you think 'Ninjas' is hard, wait until you try 'Bullseye'.

Bulleye isnt hard, its bullshit. I have all of them except that one and when it isnt just randomly making us fail we screw up because of the bullet sponges that is the enemy.

Ugh, Dropem Liquid is the single worst level of any video game ever. Not only it is not fun, its far to long (seriously? half mile sewer to kill one guy? Can the stupid door on the 3rd floor open any slower?) the bipods in the game are brutal to put down sometimes and the hit detection is horrid.

Its not a hard level its just bullshit.

Plus none of the co op mission are all that great to begin with.

finally, off the Battlefield facebook:
A new Battlefield 3 Xbox 360/PS3 server patch will be deploying at 1AM PST tonight addressing lag/rubber-banding, TDM/SQDM spawn point optimization, and various crashes.

This is a rolling update which should have little impact on players. We will update everyone when the maintenance is completed. Please join us in Battlelog to discuss the impact this patch has on your Battlefield experience. Thank you!

Anyone else think they need to take Operation Metro off the Conquest map list?

I really enjoy Rush on it but Conquest always ends up with the team that starts out at A destroying the other team.

Thanks for the tip on the movie trailer. The film actually looks pretty ineresting if it's based on actual SEAL missions but, darn, that's a long movie trailer.

Metro is KIND OF a fun change of pace in Conquest, although the B flag is an absurd bottleneck. I guarantee that no team has ever won Conquest on that map without controlling B most of the time. The tickets just drain at a ridiculous rate to the team trying to take that flag. If you want to rank up quickly, playing this map with an assault and reviving the scores of bodies is the way to go.

I'm finishing up Sonic Generations tonight and probably tomorrow but look forward to getting back to BF3 after that.

I hope I stopped getting dropped after this... Every couple days I will just get sent back to the main menu for no apparent reason. I lose my points every damn time too. Just lost about 6k and the match wasn't even half over. Not to mention I got a couple sets of dog tags from enemies that I had not got yet and also had unlocked a set for myself along with some ribbons I never had.

Oh I agree, I'm tired of being dropped from the server. I think I've lost nearly a rank's worth of points. I'm only rank 5 after all. This post is after a conquest game where I was actually on the top spot on my team doing various things, healing, reviving, kills in tanks/buggy, neutralize/capture flag. I was serious pissed off I want to throw my controller.

Patch deployed!

Man, trailer looks decent, wouldnt go to see in the movies but would watch it. On a different note, playing this game without my friends is brutal. I hate to be the hardcore guy yelling at casual gamers but god damn...they are tanks not sniper rifles why are you a thousand yard away from everything?

This game is fantastic though when both teams are pretty good.

In some cases using the tank from a distance is a great strategy, but as such, it really depends on the situation. My friends will sometime use it to distract the other team while another squad flanks on foot or by hummer/jeep.

Plus, a tank with optics package is deadly.

Yeah, but if the majority of the people used it in that way I wouldnt complain. No one complains about someone using an effective tactic. I am talking about the guys who have a tank at the back who spend the entire time trying to kill the lone gunner running towards us. I use in that way to punch holes in buildings for the people pushing forward, hit oncoming tanks...etc etc.

To sum up, casual gamers kinda suck at the game...I wish they wouldnt but ah well.

There's a definite learning curve to BF3 when it comes to understanding TEAM GAME PLAY. I mean, congrats on sniping all those guys and having a 3:1 K/D, but could you spot one or two of them along the way so I know to look out? The Halo and CoD players will end up leaving after awhile and next thing you know it'll be like the last three months of Bad Company 2 where we were all gearing up for BF3 and it was really tight and good matches all around.

I found my new best friend, the Tunguska. A pal had just unlocked mortars and I found this glorious chariot of death. Together we decimated the opposition. I mean literally took out 90% of them between the two of us. The rest of the squad was really disturbed that I made up a song about my goose of destruction and the other guy decided that he will name his 1st born Mortimer. Then when they got their ace squad ribbons after contributing less than 1k everything seemed to balance out. I ended up taking a guy out who was repairing the goose when we were attackers so I stole it from them and kept it the rest of the round. That team was sending me hate mail over live after that.

One thing the patch needs to fix: a flashlight from 50ft away will not blind me in broad daylight...

This game needs some serious work before MW3 comes out, I'm sure MW3 will be the same bullshit it is every year but I bet it will look and hide lag better than BF3 is right now.

Don't get me wrong, BF3 looks good and I prefer it over COD any day, but shooting rockets at tanks and the rocket goes right through the tank or shooting people 8 times and then getting a 99 kill assist are just some of the things that are getting out of hand and happening way too often along with the random disconections.

Hopefully that new patch helps a lot of those issues but the game needs work.

I noticed in the post that had the tweet it said TDM and SQDM spawn fixes but what about Conquest and Rush? I manage to spawn on my own capture point or deployment and get knifed in the back on multiple occasions because the game chose to spawn me litarelly in front of an enemy and vice versa. Obviously I'm not gonna complain about spawning behind an enemy and knifing him because I got 2 new dogtags that way, but when it happens to me it's difficult not to just turn off my xbox. I'd prefer it not to happen at all than happen both ways.

They really need to do something about the ticket bleed rate on large maps.

Played Conquest over 150 times and every round on Op Firestorm has had under 20 kill total (each team) and the match is over in less than 10 minutes.

Dude those flashlights are brutal. I would complain more about them but I have probably killed more people who have them than been killed by them.

They give away your position really easy...there is nothing like seeing a sniper from 900 yards away.
Watched the whole 4 min trailer, then select my platform and then get "Oops! Google Chrome could not find actofvalor.ea.com"
Thanks for the heads up, I went ahead and watched the trailer in I.E. (awesome :bouncy:) and was able to login to Origin and get it applied to my account :D

I watched the trailer using Chrome and it worked fine for me.

Just finished SP on Hard. This was one of the most annoying SP campaigns I have played in awhile. Most of the annoyances have already been listed in this thread, so I won't go through them again.

Now that the SP is done time to get some MP in.
One thing the patch needs to fix: a flashlight from 50ft away will not blind me in broad daylight...
HAHAHAHAHAHA...oh god, that's so fucking annoying. The first time it happened, I figured it was the sun. I was like, "No way I just got blinded by a long range flashlight. But nope, I began to realize that's exactly what is happening.

Honestly, I can't wait for MW3 to come out so that all the COD fans can move on to that and leave this game alone. I lost a game of Rush in about 5 or 10 minutes today because my team was, literally, about 2/3 snipers who weren't doing shit to defend the objectives or disarm them. We got steamrolled, and I couldn't do much of anything to stop the team by myself. So frustrating.

On the plus side, once I just stopped giving a fuck and started playing to have my own fun, I managed to go about 32 and 10, 12+ of which were knife kills. That was fantastic. I was able to flank the enemy and just knifed them one after another as they spawned, since they didn't bother to wear headsets and warn their nearby squadmates I was there. I think I got about a 6 knife streak before I died the first time. Sooo satisfying to do that after having shit teams. And we managed to win too, somehow. But for some reason, Battlelog has no total for my dogtags taken, just shows my Melee Ribbon.

Makes me laugh when I see the posts of "I'll be glad when MW3 comes out so all the lame players switch to it". I've been playing BF on pc long before it was on console and on my Battlelog, my veteran status is a 7 so I have put in a ton of hrs playing BF and I don't see where some people get some sort of superiority complex that BF players are so much more adult and team oriented. That's complete bs. There are players at both games that you just want to strangle. Are there more ahole players on MW, I would say yes but that prob has something to do with more people are playing MW than BF.

Please don't misunderstand, I'm not saying people who play Battlefield are better than people who play COD. I'm simply saying that there are a lot of people playing who don't seem, or are unwilling, to be able to learn or play Battlefield correctly, working with your teammates to win. I've come across a preponderance of people who actively ignore objectives so they can kill people. It's frustrating seeing an MCOM blow up because a teammate sitting right next to it ignored it so he could snipe (and yes this has actually happened -- more than once.)

COD is set up to reward individual play, not team play. That's fine, and that's fun for that game, but people come to Battlefield with that same "lone wolf," K/D-focused mindset and it ends up making the game less fun for everyone. I've played a lot of both (COD4 and Battlefield 1942 are some of my favorite competitive FPS games to date), and my experience playing COD and seeing how people approach that game is what makes me think people are approaching Battlefield the same way.

I agree. Neither game is necessarily better than the other. Neither game's players are necessarily better than the other's. They are just different games with different types of players. It's definitely annoying when you have a guy on your team that is clearly only concerned with K/D ratio. He isn't handing out supplies. He isn't attacking objectives. He isn't fixing anything. He isn't supporting. He's just killing. Not saying that when MW3 comes out, everyone who plays BF3 is gonna be a super-duper teammate. I definitely think, though, you will see more of it. You will also see less people playing, so there's the good and the bad. Fortunately, BF is a popular enough series that the game will have a large community for quite some time, unlike some FPS games that are insanely popular for a couple of weeks and then die out.

I saw Major Nelson's blog today showing the live activity for the week of 10/24 and BF3 is in third behind B Ops and MW2. I know it came out on Tuesday but have to admit I just thought it would be in first. They had tons of pre-orders and I know some people got pissed about the beta but c'mon, I was so happy to trade in my Black Ops a few weeks ago towards BF3. I would guess more people are playing on xbox than ps3 but if I had a good computer (like 5 yrs ago), I would have gotten this on pc. Battles are so much more epic.

And what's the deal with the fucking sun on almost all the maps blinding the piss out of me? Especially the Damavand peak or whatever it's called, if this goddamn game is supposed to be realistic then give me some ballistic sunglasses or goggles. Or the everlasting "dirt" on your face that typically gets kicked up when you're in front of an explosion but in BF3 it never seems to go away.

I get it, the engine looks cool now let me fucking see clearly.

Pretty crazy how much of a juggernaut the CoD franchise is. Wonder if next week it will be 1, 2, 3 in the standings.
