Battlefield 3- Premium announced; 4 new expansions

I love this game, but I am so frustrated with losing because of other squads not playing the objectives... I need to play with some more team players. I usually play with 1-3 other players, but I don't feel that is enough. So, what I'm saying is.... if you are some what of a team player feel free to send me a friend request. :)

I can't even tell you how many kills I got over the weekend by shooting at people's legs that are sticking out of buildings while they go prone in a corner. While stupid, it's actually pretty helpful for the team...

I have to admit that I really dislike the recon class. It seems like the unlocks are a bit off compared to Bad Company, then again maybe BC was different from BF in other ways. Who knows. Either way, I just use PDW and don't even bother sniping, but get to tinker with the beacon and Tugs. Also, I've gotten the Tugs ribbon at least 5 times but it never registers. That's kind of bunk especially since it's the last class specific ribbon I need.

Nasum: The Tugs won't get you the ribbon. Its an unlock later in the kit - the Mobile Drone thing - you'll need to fly it around and spot people for that ribbon. I agree it sucks because you gotta play recon for 45000 xp before you unlock it. Needless to say, it'll be a while before I get it too. Although I did unlock the ump last night which should help.

Side note on sniping: If I'm sniping you with a 7.62 mm nato round and hit you square in the chest, you should definitely die. You at least should not be able to shoot back at me. The recon class in this game is total garbage.

However, aside from that I'm loving everything except the flashlights. I hope they get nerfed, toned down a little at least.

I couldnt agree more about those damn flashlights. I just don't understand how they are so bright regardless of how much light is outside. But other than that i always play with a friend so we always go for the objective unless our team completely sucks and has no chance at winning.

Yeah I don't even snipe anymore with the recon class, I run around with the UMP or XM1014. Sniping in this game sucks, it's hard enough to land a headshot on an enemy with the randomly messed up animations and the lag much less 2 shots period on the body. I don't know why but I feel like sniping in Bad Company 2 was way better.

I still have nothing unlocked for any of the air vehicles, I can fly but I can't seem to line shots up to kill anything with them and then I get shot down because I have no flares.

I gotta agree with you Hustletron on the tank shells not taking out a chopper either - I blasted a gunship almost point blank as he was hovering trying to line up a shot and nothing! I saw a poof of smoke where you could tell it hit but no disable or anything. Luckily my friend in the gunner seat finished him off in about 10 shots from the 50 cal. I prided myself on nailing choppers out of the sky in BC2.

Two people working as a team can own a map in a tank. We consistently get 5000 - 6000 points (conquest).

I still love this game but am looking forward to a COD break....then getting really pissed with how its played (run and gun solo stuff) and coming back to BF3!

I am truly addicted to how great the game plays when there are two good teams.

I really can't wait for the Back to Karkand maps because I don't really have a "favorite" map on this game so far, but BF2 I loved almost every single map.

I completely agree with the flashlight nerfing, if it's broad fucking daylight outside a flashlight should have absolutely no effect on me.Pitch black in a tunnel? Sure. but outside? Get real, DICE.

The military has some gnarly flashlights. We played with them up in Quantico and they're bright enough to mess you up during the day. That said, it makes the game pretty annoying and I wouldn't be at all sad if they toned them down quite a bit.

I'm usually not overly concerned about Achievements but I do like to get them when I can, especially with Battlefield games. It's just fun to have a little extra challenge and something "tangible" to work towards other than the usual rank rewards. That being said, it's going to be a while until I get those ribbon Achievements due to the recon issues others have been mentioning.

I'm not that awful with the SVD but of course that doesn't count for the sniper rifle ribbon. Getting 7 kills with one of those single shot long-range rifles in one round? That just seems unattainable for my style. Are there any semi-automatic recon unlocks that actually count for this? I also just unlocked the T-UGS and thought I was set for the motion assist ribbon. Thanks for the tip that it isn't the right unlock. How does the T-UGS even work? I really liked the throwable motion mines in BC2 but these things just stick into the ground. Does it detect all enemies in range or do they have to run past it or something?

The ground vehicle ribbons are fine but I've got to either brush up on my piloting skills or get in the gunner seat for the air ribbon. I can do a decent job of flying but I have trouble lining up the weapons at the same time.

I would have loved more multiplayer achievements rather than the huge amount on the putrid campaign. Either make the campaign actually like a Battlefield game like the original BC (open maps, use of vehicles) or just give up and spend your time on multiplayer already.

The jets and choppers definitely have a little bit of a learning curve. The first day or two I couldn't fly them worth a shit. Now I have had two matches in the past couple times I played where I lasted almost the whole match in a jet. The first match was Rush on Caspian Border and I lasted until the very last set of M-COM stations. I took out a few helicopters thanks to finally having the heat seekers unlocked.

The second match was again on Caspian Border but it was Conquest. I managed to take out 4 jets, 2 choppers, and a tank or two. Not to mention a few jets and a chopper before the enemy team was able to get into it (yes I know it is a dick move, but when your teammates are idiots you gotta do something ).

The best advice I can give for jets is to switch in and out of 3rd and 1st person. I swear I would probably give someone watching me a seizure by how often I am flipping back and forth. I usually will switch to third person whenever I am doing turns or on the outskirts of the map. Once I start heading back over the middle I instantly switch to 1st in order to be able to line up my shots.

As for helicopters, I personally sucked at these for awhile. Turning was my biggest problem. I realized that the best way to do a 180 was to hold up and right/left on the right stick depending on which way you want to turn and then move the left stick in the direction that corresponds. The scout choppers will turn very quickly like this and you can easily maneuver them to continue pounding away at vehicles or guys on the ground.

I didn't buy this game for the campaign but I just finished it and man was that boring. I think I spent at least half of the time in the game listening to people talk over and over without the ability to shoot. I didn't care about the story so I could just skip the cut scenes but I couldn't skip the times when they were going on and on about whatever it was they were talking about. I don't care that the campaign sucked but I would have liked them to spend the campaign resources in the AWESOME multiplayer instead. I bought the game for the multiplayer but that other disk just kept tempting me to play it and I only finished it because it was really short.

I think I need to get back on my meds or not play this game sober because I had to full on rage quit three or four matches last night. As in ready to throw my controller at the wall and throw my coffee table at the TV.
Everyone will just switch to laser sights to blind the shit out of you now.
To me, the laser lights are not nearly as bad as the flashlights. It's one thing to get completely blinded by a flashlight when you run into one in a dark hallway. It's another thing in broad daylight from 50 yards away.

this MP is reallly starting to piss me off. dying within 5 seconds of spawning. i get a shit load of assists because i get the jump on a guy....empty a clip and he kills me, and his remaining health is about 3-10%, knife a guy 2 times point blank and he runs to the side and shoots me dead. all im saying is the deaths feel fucking cheap. i dont care if i die from being out played but damn.

I agree on the getting the jump on enemies and then still dying especially when I get literally countless hit markers and no kill.

But the knife doesn't kill in 1 hit unless it's the execution animation, it takes like 3 or 4 swipes to kill with the knife.

yeah, gotta admit I prefer the BFBC2 knife kill that was a solid and quick kill as long as it wasn't face to face. If you're not within 20 degrees of being directly behind a person it seems that the one hit melee won't count which is pretty absurd.

im just noticing this cheap stuff more and more i play. decided to try sniping.im on my belly, guy's running up the street toward me, shot him....shot him again, shot him again and he runs off to the side only to lay on his belly and 1 shot kill me. i really like how no one likes to spot people. no one likes to drop health when i truly need it and am hitting select to ask for it. maybe its just me complaining but it always feels like im shooting them more than they shoot me to get a kill. sometimes i have a blast playing and sometimes i hate this games guts.

screw this im done with BF3. started a round 2-0 doing fine them boom.....shot in the back x5 after spawning, and x3 1 shot kills. im good, thanks anyways.

Exactly! I totally feel like this game would be much more enjoyable if I played with people that plays it objectively and not just running and gunning. I added you js1.

To anyone else that wants to play in a squad, feel free to add me:

XBL: Ang Colette

I'm in the West Coast, and usually play after 10PM

I can't say that I've noticed too much one way or the other but does the laser give away your position easily? Does everyone see a big red beam shooting out from you any angle?

Yeah, the cheap deaths have become more and more aggravating lately. I full-on ragequit a match the other night, which I never do. I'm usually good about staying the course even if I'm doing awful, but when someone on the other team has 50+ kills, 10 of which are killing me, and no amount of bullets or having a drop on him kills him, you just lose it. I have no problem being bested, but fucking god damn I do not like feeling like I am powerless. I just could not seem to kill anyone. One guy took literally a clip of UMP ammo, and I died on the reload. It showed him having something like 50% health left. smh.

I haven't played much recently but have people just started hacking the shit out of it or what? I think I last played about a week ago and had no real complaints at the time.
Finally, all the COD players are out! Rejoice!
Eh...video game players are video game players. I've run into nothing but complete douchebag, awful teammates today, and that's with all of the "CoD players" gone.
Just face it guys, this game is a step down from BF:BC2
Care to clarify that statement? This game has gotten great reviews. The only thing that Bad Company 2 clearly has on this game is the SP campaign. This one blows ass. But I'd love to hear why you think the MP is a step down.
Wow this game is getting criticized lately on here. Makes me wonder if I should return it before I open it since I just bought it today.
I don't see that. I think a couple of people have made blanketed "this game isn't good" statements, without backing them up. The rest is the usual complaining we do whenever we lose or whatever lol. I've bitched about spawning, shotguns, and flashlights a bunch already, but I love the shit out of this game. It's great. Don't let anyone discourage you.
Man anybody getting crazy lag? All night it has been bad.
I had some rubberband lag from time to time tonight and also during the day.

Here's something that definitely needs to be changed. You shouldn't be able to just spam the AV mines. There should be a limit to how many you can have down at a time. And when the attackers take over a base, the other team's mines should go bye-bye.
Here's something that definitely needs to be changed. You shouldn't be able to just spam the AV mines.
You can only place so many before previous mines start disappearing when you place a new mine. I believe 10 is the max you can have down at once.

They don't even disappear when you die.

Yeah, well, that's a pretty high number. In previous games, it was like 3. If you have a few engineers on your team, and someone is throwing out ammo, you can have 30 or 40 mines. That's dumb.
They don't even disappear when you die.
Which really doesn't make any sense, considering most other equipment, especially C4, which is quite the equivalent, do disappear when you die.

My problem with the mines is how hard it is to spot them with the tank while you're driving it. I wish the Proximity Scan attachment would scan the area for mines, as well as enemies.

i think the mines are fine. besides the MBT is strong enough anyway and can handle i think 4-5 mines?

vehicles can regenerate health, and if you have a keen eye, youll probably spot the mines too. and theyre usually placed in groups of 2-3. so just shoot them and they will all explode. its not hard lol.. no need to nerf the mines. just open your eyes lol.

btw people should learn to use the smoke attachment as well. its really helpful.

Taken straigth from Gamefaqs..

Remade my original list since I hit the maximum characters per post.

- The SOFLAM works with the TOW (TOW = stationary launcher)

- The Back button marks up enemy players and vehicles for your team.

- Your Recon Equipment stays on the map if you respawn as a different class.

- You can destroy enemy equipment and even an enemy MAV with your MAV’s Jam Equipment function

- You can hold out your knife by pressing your knife button longer.

- You can drop a total of 6 C4 packages by dropping 3, resupply and dropping another 3.

- The Mortar can shoot faster if you alternate between smoke and HE rounds.

- Vehicles are weakest in the back and the bottom.

- You can roadkill with the MAV if you have enough momentum

- The direction you spawn towards when using the radio beacon is indicated by the red light on top of it.

- The gunner in the apache helicopters can also use his flares if equipped.

- When Squad bonuses are available, you can see which person has what equipped next to his name, (Squad ammo, Squad sprint etc. Next to his class symbol)

- You can only revive the same person once in a small amount of time. After that, your revive won’t work unless enough time has passed, or another person does it.

- You can turn your flashlight and laser off by pressing UP on your D-Pad

- You can spawn on certain vehicles even though the person driving it isn’t in your squad.

- You can switch to third person view in vehicles by pressing the right thumbstick.

- You can no longer blow up M-COM stations with explosions.

- You can land the MAV, press B and use it again later by using the equipment again.

- You can choose in which Squad you end up in by pressing Start, going to Squad and Team options and select a Squad there. Goes from Alpha to Hotel. (Great for when you get in a different squad than your friends)

- You can select if you wish to hear/speak with only your squad or your entire team (if they turn it on as well) by pressing Start, going to Squad and Team options and by selecting: Squad, Team or Off in the bottom of the screen.

- You can only have 1 medic/ammo box out at a time. Throwing a new one will delete the old one.

- Ammo boxes only have a limited amount of ammo inside them. Throw new ones often.

- In helicopters with a gunner, you can see where your gunner is aiming by looking at the rectangular box with the little square in it at the bottom of your helicopter interface.

- The yellow construction dumpsters often seen on the maps are indestructible; they provide good cover for yourself and your equipment. You can also jump in them.

- Every base in conquest has a stationary AA gun.

- Spotting enemy choppers and jets will help your team’s choppers and jets A LOT.

- You can use resupply to give yourself a second claymore, however you can only have 2 out at a time.

- If you spawn on a radio beacon that is outside, you will parachute in. If it is inside you will just spawn on it.

- You cannot spawn on a teammate in a vehicle if the vehicle is already full.

- You can activate your parachute by tapping the A button.

- Every time you move up to the next objectives in a rush round, your placed equipment will automatically get destroyed. Pick it up before this happens so you can place it again.

- You only one hit kill with the knife if you backstab your target or if you have momentum towards your target. Stabbing from the front normally will take several hits.

- You can place C4 on the front of a jeep/humvee/scout buggy and ram it into tanks to destroy them. Get out before obviously.

- Holding DOWN on the D-PAD while in a chopper or jet allows you to look around in the cockpit.

- Blowing up enemy equipment such as mines, C4, radio beacons also give points.

- It takes 2 mines to disable a MBT. Unless it is repaired it will blow up so leave mines in pairs.

- A burning vehicle will explode when its health reaches 0.

- The maximum amount of mines you can place is very high. Place them at key choke points.

- You can practice flying the helicopter by doing the second CO-OP mission.

- Firing an a weapon without suppression will reveal you on the minimap

- Crouching or crawling will hide you from the enemy T-UGS.

- Your flashlight/laser can disorient enemies as they enter a room/chokepoint/close quarters area. But they will give away your position.

- Bolt action sniper rifles are not one hit kill on a full health enemy. Unless you hit them in the head.

- The Launchers available to the Engineer class can be used against infantry as well.

- Switching to your pistol is faster than reloading.

- Capturing objective points gives you loads of points. 250 for capture/200 capture assist. 200 for disarming M-COM station.

- You can place multiple C4 packages at the same time by repeatedly pressing the Left trigger.

- You can favorite servers in the Browse server menu to select server you found to be stable.

- The Stealth characteristic on helicopters and jets increase the time it takes for enemies to Lock-on to you.

- You can use C4 to guard M-COM stations to get the M-COM defender Ribbon more easily.

- The IRNV 1x scope also works in daylight/brightly lit places.

- Vehicles will auto-repair themselves if they are above 50% health and haven’t taken hits for a while.

- Flares are to be used when you hear a rapid beeping sound indicating an incoming missile. It is higher pitched than the “Somebody is locking-on beep you hear before.

- Flares have infinite amount of uses. But there is a short cooldown before you can use them again.

- You can still die from rubble from a building that collapses if you are standing outside of it.

- Snipers that are aiming in your general direction will have a reflective light coming off their scope. Use this to spot them.

- Reviving time in CO-OP missions is depending on difficulty. On easy you will revive your teammate in only a few seconds. While on hard it will take much longer.

- If you have trouble flying, the stick layout Legacy is found to be a easier configuration because “Roll” is excluded on the left thumb stick.

- You can use the Back button to request Ammo and Medic boxes from players playing Assault or Support. Sometimes you have to really get their attention before they get the hint you want something.

- The starting weapons for each class are side specific. The last unlocks for each class are those starting weapons for the other side. e.g. “Soviet Acquired M4A1” and “US Acquired AKs-74u”

- If you select a weapon add-on you did not yet unlock, you cannot leave the customize screen.

- Suppression is the effect where you screen goes fuzzy. This is when somebody is firing at you but not actually hitting you.

- The Suppression Specialization will increase the fuzzy/blur upon your enemies. And it will reach maximum blur faster.

- The Explosive Specialization does NOT increase explosion damage. It will increase the amount of explosive devices/rockets you can carry.

- You can change fire modes on certain weapons by equipping the weapon and pressing DOWN on the D-PAD. The small orbs next to your ammo count show what modes are available.

- You can press Y while browsing any item in the customize menu to view a description of the item.

- You can change your soldiers appearance by pressing Y in the customize menu without having selected a specific class. Just highlight the class you wish to change appearance for and press Y.

- You can switch from HE to Smoke mortars while using the mortar by pressing Left and Right on the D-PAD.

- You can land the MAV somewhere safe and it will keep tracking the enemy motions. It will however be turned off when you leave it.

- You need be crouching or crawling to be able to use the Bipod. Or have a surface in front of you to place it on.

- You can bail out of jets and helicopters before they explode. Aswell as tanks and jeeps obviously.

- You can switch seats in all vehicles by pressing the A button.

- The Straight Pull bolt add-on for sniper rifles allows you to stay zoomed in when you load a new bullet. (C word got blocked here XD)

- The Grip add-on only eliminates horizontal recoil.

- You cannot shoot the tires off vehicles.

- Most fences can be knifed open.

- There are 4 different kinds of Shotgun ammo. More damage, More penetration, More range and More Suppression. They come with their own upside and downside.

- The M320 grenade launcher replaces your medkit. Choose carefully.

- The Beltspeed vehicle upgrade decreases the time it takes to reload your guns/cannons.

- The Fire extinguisher upgrade can be used to prevent your vehicle from not self-healing because it is below 50% hp. If the fire is put out it will self-heal later.

- You can choose to spawn inside a jet or helicopter from the spawn screen by selecting it when it appears in the spawnlocation screen. Sometimes, since jets and copters spawn after the players do, this will take a little more time. Patience will get you in that jet.

- The Mobile AA vehicle as seen in the vehicles progression screen is only located on 1 map in 1 game mode atm. Rush on Noshahr Canals, Russian side. It is a mobile version of the stationary AA found in bases and has lots of upgrades available.

And that's all for now. I'll try to add more before my edit timer is up. But this should help a lot of new players getting into this great game.

Torque.

Um no most tanks get hit by 1-2 at most and they are down. Usually it's 1. People have smoke on their tanks still? That's one of the most useless things you can have and its one of the first things you can get rid of

I'm talking about MBTs, not tanks. I think that's what the mobile spawn is called. But the MBT is already powerful and strong. If tanks have higher damage treshold, then tehran highway would bbe hell for the defenders. Its already hard playing as defenders on that map. The attackers get 2 tanks and 1 MBT.

And the smoke is useful. You can even use it to cover your teams advancement, and not just to cover yourself when you're in danger.

Giant, what is the point of your post? I cant figure out what the things you list are suppose to be? I thought it was a patch list for a second.

I still love the game MP on here, I dont have really any criticisms that dont involve people not playing as a team. I dont really rage if I dont get the kill because the game will give you the points based on how much damaged you did so I dont understand the problem.

I think they handled most of the game right and the rest is just personal issues that everyone has with every game.

Now that I have played COD....uhhh, yeah looks like I am staying here for a while.

Haha just some things about the games mechanics that every player should be aware of. Some might be obvious but perhaps some aren't.

Like you can't revive the same person more than once. It was possible in BC2, but in here; if your temmate dies again after you revived them, they can only be revived by another player.. I think! And holding the knife button will make you equip the knife :p

But I didn't come up with it. I usually alternate between CAG and gamefaqs forum for discussions about games. So much trolling going on there its crazy

Cool, because I sent you a FR. ;) I played with a couple of guys from the CAG clan and some of my friends last night. Lots of fun. This game is such a blast with communication and teamwork.
