Battlefield: Bad Company - Gen. Discussion & Info
How many time do you have to hit a tank with a bazooka to destroy it? Is there a area I should be aiming at so it doesn't take 4 damn shots?
Always aim for the wheels. I know in BF2 it was two tank rounds to that and the opposition was toast.
Wow a boycott...That'll work.....People complain about that but no one says a thing about Ubisoft releasing Rainbow Six 1.5. BTW I hate rainbow 6 vegas 2 but I liked 1
Unreasonable Rainbow Six Vegas 2 bitching goes in the RS:V2 thread, not here.

Very glad they've already made minor adjustments. The fall damage was really frustrating at first, but now I can get back into this. Now we just need friend invites and I'll be set.
BF2 and 2142 both had unlocks whose stats didn't seem to be significantly better than the default weapons, but in both games a few ended up being far and away superior and people end up using those most of the time. Looking at the number of times I've been killed by someone with the assault kit in 2142, more than half of those times they were using one of the two unlocks. It goes up to about 75% when I count deaths from both. And that's just one kit.

I have very little confidence that all the guns in BF:BC will be as balanced as they say. Hopefully the ones that give significant advantages will be the ones unlockable in-game and not the ones you have to pay extra for.
From what I've played of the three specialist weapons, there's not much of a difference really, so it seems like the stat ratings are fairly accurate in regards to any possible huge differences.

Unreasonable??HAHAHAH... Stop defending your trash game.

Oh Btw if you want to play with a friend, go into a private chat and join a custom match at the same time with the same settings. It may take a few tries but it will work eventually. My friend and I played for about 3 hours tonight

After playing several games of this Beta, I'd just like to say that the controls suck. It just seems very clunky no matter what you do.

For all the hate i have for this game i just cant pull myself away from it to play COD4. I wont be buying the full product but this beta has me hooked. Great time passer until GTA4 arrives or until Ikaruga XBLA is out :D

Im loving the SVU auto sniper. Ive gone away with just mainly using assault to really test the other classes even it means doing worse and ive got cosiderably better with the recon class to where ill decimate the other team and ill have 2-3 guys hunting me down when i see them on the Sonar balls Blips.

I havent put any time into Support since im not a team player and im always off doing my own thing. Think the next class ill try to put alot more time into is specialist to see how well the C4 fairs against blowing up Gold crates ect.. even though i absolutly hate its toss range!

For anyone wanting to really own with Recon go and unlock the SVU sniper. It may not seem good at first but the more you use it the better you get at killing people with it and understanding it better that its not just a 1 shot 1 kill type of thing. Really good for distracting the other team since your able to fire off multiple shots and hit a group of people and weaken them all or kill them.

That is all for my wall of text for today. :applause:

"EA wants you to buy these weapons to customize your character to your playstyle, but then admits that your money doesn't buy you an advantage. We agree with that aspect, but then question why we're paying for these weapons."

It would be much worse if buying the weapons did create an advantage IMO. Then you'd pretty much have to pony up the cash for those weapons or there wouldn't be much point to playing online. I say we won't really know if the weapons give an advantage or not until the game launches and people start using them. (Unless they are in the current beta?) My guess is the impression will be they give an advantage unless they are obviously underpowered somehow (unlikely.)

It would be like if Halo 3 made you pay to use the Needler and mauler. They are useful weapons but if they were pay to use only I think they'd have a mythical build up to them.

Well, I got into the BETA via Comcast. I have to say the game seemed like a big cluster-f*** to me. I guess I prefer COD4, RSV, Halo3 much more at this point. I did like the game graphically though. I may pick it up eventually to see if single player is decent.
For anyone saying this game is clunky...Have you ever played a battlefield game before? This controls just like Battlefield 2
We get it. You love this game, and love to defend it. Not all of us have to like the game.

You should hear how much he hates Vegas 2.

I was asking a question. It is a valid question.I never said you had to love the game. I am just helping people relate it to something. If you have never played a BF game before than first thought is the game controls wierd. And yes I think Rainbow Six vegas 2 is awful...Why does it matter to you if I really like the game
This controls just like Battlefield 2
: shudders : Man yeah... if the PC game was that bad, I can't imagine how bad the 360 version is.

The thing is that five of them will be free to everyone, with the other five to "free" to the CE buyers.

finally decided to enter my code. it's pretty much what i expect from a battlefield game. it's good, but not great. need to play it more to really judge it.

and i just heard about the CE from the CAGcast. you're tellin me that if i front $10 you'll "give" me weapons you already included on the disk? uhh....i don't think so.
The thing is that five of them will be free to everyone, with the other five to "free" to the CE buyers.
Exactly.

I am on the fence about buying Bad Company. I would rather not encourage companies, like EA, to continue exploiting us gamers with these dubious microtransactions, and the only real way to voice our consumer opinion is with our wallet. However, if the CAG multiplayer is fun, like COD4, I don't know if I could resist.

I wasn't digging the game at first but the more time I've spent playing the more fun I've been having. There have been some great moments where missiles, rocket propelled grenades, etc all hit an area at once and turns an area into rubble. Not planning on buying the full version so I'll enjoy the demo until it's gone.

Does anyone know how you get dogtags? I have several and I still don't understand how I got them.

I also wish that the game wouldn't display an X type crosshairs over teammates. After playing CoD4, it's trained me that means I've hit an enemy and generally I keep shooting.

So pissed I didn't get a beta code. I am looking forward to this game so much. BF2 may still be my favorite Live game so far for 360 (not by much over COD4).

you get dogtags by knifing people. Ive also heard its a rare occurance if you get a headshot, but i dont think so.

But yeah, after playing this awhile, i decided to fire up some BF2 on pc. My god i love that game. BF2 is in the running for greatest multiplayer game of all time in my book. Counterstrike is the only threat to that title right now.

Huh, I've received some from knifing but only some of the time and some from shooting. Not a big deal but I was curious.

The EA team is also fixing stuff amazingly fast. Game is already running a lot smoother today than three days ago.
Do people still play BF2 on the PC?
yeah its still pretty popular i guess. I had no trouble finding some good servers today.

I fired up this beta last night after fixing some network issues and I really enjoyed it. I loved Modern Combat, so I probably went into it wanting to like it. I like the vehicles and the respawning and the "kits" so I'll probably pick it up.

It'll be tough to put a dent in the COD4 beast.
Do people still play BF2 on the PC?
Yea, there seemed to be ~50 public servers up when I played last week but a lot of them only play one map and have goofy restrictions like no vehicles. I don't have the expansion pack(s?) though so it may be different for you. It's pretty annoying that the game doesn't support widescreen though.

Yeah, BF2 is awesome. I think I'll stick with that. BF: Bad Company isn't bad at all, but BF2 is still much better. Plus, they're charging for weapons, WTF? PC gaming FTW.

There are only two weapons for each class that they charge for (out of six total) and they don't have better stats than the regular guns.
There are only two weapons for each class that they charge for (out of six total) and they don't have better stats than the regular guns.
Then why would anyone pay for the... I think its just the principal of the thing.. Dont charge for something that SHOULD be included, and obviously could have been included, they are just trying to make a cheap buck.

Point is, companies shouldn't be charging for content that's on the disk. You pay $60 for a game, you want the whole game not 90% of it. Also while the stats might appear balanced, wether the guns use red dot sights or iron sights, etc could lend even a small effect to the game.

I love the Beta though and will probably end up buying the full game at some point later on because I'm a chump.

Exactly. It's just a way to squeeze more money out of the customer.

I don't know if I will buy the full game. Definitely not at launch though, that's for sure. Maybe if I can get it for $30 or less at some point...

Well according to recent developer interview...Gold Rush mode is the ONLY online mode in Bad Company.

While I enjoy the Beta it seems like they're trying to give us reasons not to buy this game. I think I'll just play the hell out of the Beta and get burned out on this mode.

Agreed! :bouncy: Ima play the hell out of the Beta

A fun thing I've been doing is getting the Recon/Sniper class on "Ascension" driving the Hummer up the road close to the first left side gold crate then laser target the vehicle over & over guiding the missile away from it into the enemies spawn, buildings, and etc. You can laser target the enemy gun turrets too which it works just as well.

Gotta try that. Though I'm horrible at guiding the missile, how do you guide that thing?

This is a long shot but does anyone have an extra beta code that I can use? I really wanted to try this game out but am unable to obtain a beta code. If anyone wants to hook me up so I can test this game out it would be greatly appriciated. PM Me. Thanks!

IDK if it's the right or left stick, but I just use both, LOL. I just tried it last night and I do not use the Recon/Sniper class. I start pressing in the direction I want to redirect the missile to once it's viewable on screen. You can use the Hummer's position to figure out which way to aim since it's highlighted.

I got a missile way over to the first right side crate by targeting the Hummer postioned on the left side road near the left side crate. You can rack up the damage points with one missile, 30+ I believe the same as a tank.

If you had 3-4 snipers ready to go at the first of a game and maybe 3-4 players in the Support class ready to bomb the other team as soon as the match started you could possibly take the first two crates with barely losing any troops.
