Battlefield: Bad Company - Gen. Discussion & Info
Aww... no? that's too bad. Serves them fucking right. Am I gonna buy the game now? fuck no...
Why?....A developer that listens to the fans should be praised. Yes it was a stupid decision in the first place but they changed and we should be happy about that

You know... if we were talking about a developer OTHER than EA then sure... but, you really think they won't find some other way to suck the life and money out of people while they put out more and more garbage? Oh, and then they give other developers ideas too...

I just saw that this game has a "Gold Edition". So I was wondering what it has that the normal does not. I'm thinking about preordering only it is get the gold and no extra gun or get the extra gun and not what the gold has.

This game is pure poop.

I keep wanting to liek it but I honestly can't. BF 2 MC for Xbox 360 was pretty fun but this game is meh.

Maybe I am missing something but can you deploy a parachute when you fall?
http://archive.gamespy.com/stats/

The Half-Life 1 and 2 stats are way off, but other than that they seem to be right.
The reason the numbers appear off is because of Counterstrike, gamespy can't tell the difference. Between it and Half-life 1/2. Plus, Valve gave Half-life 2 away for free.

As for the weapons, while I am still on the fence about paying for unlocks

(people with finite free time, might be willing to pay a little more to get the guns that people with massive amounts of free time can earn. )

I am not entirely sure this has solved the bigger issue of charging for additional weapons, if indeed it is an issue. All the article says, and repeats several times, is they will not charge for items in the game. That does not speak to additional downloads in the future. That is the bigger issue correct, unbalancing the game, for the have and have nots, or did I miss something?

So can someone tell me what is different from the gold and normal version other then the fact that some guns are already unlocked and the lacking of the one for the preorder.

I played the beta, and I honestly thought it BLEW. Not sure what it was, but after 5 min I quit. Glad I didn't pay for the beta OR pre-order it. But, I'm not sure why I didn't like it, I found the controls to be a lot like COD, but it was missing something. Definitely NOT a game I will be buying.

Heh, after finally being able to play it (over a two-day period), I can say that I will not be picking this game up.

It's just not very good. It has a few nice things, but compared to other games, especially CoD4, it doesn't seem like it'll be worth it. I was a huge fan of BF2, and I guess I was just expecting another BF2 caliber experience from this, and it didn't deliver, instead, it tried to go for a CoD feel, but failed at doing such.

It's a shame, I was really looking forward to this.
Here are some updates that the developers have made to the Beta/Game...

http://badcompany.ea.com/news/entryid/22294/

Basically:

Hit Detection was the big one
They really need to fix the "Fall Damage" You fall from a distant of 5 feet and your guys loses 10-15 health. Lame.

I will try the beta again and see how well they did the changes.

Ok I played a bit of the Beta just not 5 mins ago. It feels a lot better now then it did 3 days ago. I still don't enjoy it greatly but it's not as bad as I initially thought.
They said they were going to fix the fall damage in the final version
Correct, Was in a older update. Hit detection is new to me though. Sweet!

I do like this game but i fear if they don't add conquest then this game may not be popular enough and may get old fast.

It's fun but it just isnt quite Battlefield 2

AH Conquest was the shit. This gold rush is ok but it doesn't even come close to conquest.

This is almost as bad as COD4 not having Capture the Flag :bomb:

While i thought about buying this game i think ill be stuck jumping on Lost planet: colonies at $30. Ive played the beta to death and am 1 unlock away from having everything in the beta. Im getting sick of Gold rush. It could just be playing the 2 same levels over but i dont see new levels adding too much to it unless were talking COD4's scope of like *15 levels.

*But then we are talking the usual EA micro rape to reach such a number.
Idk. I played a lot of the battlefield 2 demo for the 360 and that was only one map. That never got old
Agreed. That map was sweet. The desert level on the Beta is sweet as well. The other ..... not so good.

Well I played a few matches and the hit detection is def better. I am just going to wait to see if my friend gets it, initial sales and/or initial sales

After reading CAG response and various places around the Internet, it seems this game has issues to improve and fix before its June release. At very least it features dedicated servers for online multiplayer, right? That's a plus. Promotional weapons aside, I will be buying this game - if not just because it's something new.

I'm on the fence with this. A part of me wants to go get a pre-order on the Gold Edition, and another part of me wants to wait until after release to see how people like the game. I didn't get a chance to try out the demo.

I suppose that I could do the pre-order and then try out the demo on the 29th with the early access and if I don't like it, cancel the pre-order.

Any more thoughts from those of you that got to play the beta?

Yep, I want to preorder - but it's just too risky to preorder games where I have not even played the demo. For those who do preorder, the demo will be available May 29th. As for the rest of us, the demo, featuring single-and-multiplayer modes, will be available June 5th.

"Parachutes and the ability of the character to go prone have also been confirmed as not being in the game."

I never go prone in Call of Duty 4, but I think this inability will anger already disturbed people; possibly push some people off the fence.

Also, this started off as a game I wanted to buy, but EA's idiocy has been a real turn-off. I guess I'll just have to wait until June 5th to make my decision.

Yeah, I got into the whole Battlefield series late (2142) thanks to my old EQ & WoW addictions. ;oP I loved 2142 though and I played the mess out of it before I got burned out. I have CoD2,3,4 for my 360, but I haven't ventured online with any of them yet. I just got my 360 in December and I've been stock piling games thanks to CAG deals, so I'm trying to get through my backlog by just playing the single player campaigns.

I think I may wait until after I try the demo on June 5th. It's not that far off. I just figured that places would have limited Gold Versions and that's what I wanted to get since I probably won't play online enough to get to level 25.

I hope I like the online multiplayer enough to where I want to get to Level 25. If it plays like COD4, then I think I will. If it's more like Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, you'll be seeing it on my trading list soon after.

Pre-order the gold edition on amazon....they give you demo access early, and they don't charge till it ships and cancelling is easy as hell

Oh really? Interesting. :whistle2:k Thanks. :D

I think this will definitely be a rental and then a purchase if I like it. I was a die hard BF2:MC fan and if this is similar at all I will pick it up.
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/33293.html

It looks like it could be a fun, CAG team experience. The more gameplay I see, the more I wish EA hadn't been such bastards with the DLC - as if they hadn't, I probably would preorder it, or be more inclined to do so.
The guns will be available later as DLC from what I read. I think the idea is EA want you to jump through hoops for a timed online advantage before the playing field is leveled. Or not, since you know the jerks are still going to charge for the extra weapons later on and their excuse will be that they gave everyone a chance to get them for free and they didn't take advantage of it. Company is ignorant as fuck. They get caught with their hand in the cookie jar and their way of making it up to people is manipulating the situation to turn a profit elsewhere.

I got my pre order of the early demo from amazon today....single player campaign is pretty short demo and doesn't add much, so did anyone else get in on the early demo that was released today?

Nope. Care to share some general thoughts, sir? ;)

Yep, what they did was very self-serving, and not fan friendly at all. The way they maneuvered themselves was very snake-like, but then again, it's EA, so we shouldn't be too surprised. #-o

Correction...the guns are already on the disc no matter what. Now you just have to reach max level (25) and 100% of the weapons (stock, unlockable, bonus) are available. So there will be no DLC.

Dumbass movie but the end result is what they should have done in thh first place. So no harm done except for the minor advantage some players will get by having advanced weapons from day one instead of putting in a couple hundred hours to earn them.

that video had me make a preorder...
that video had me make a preorder...
yeah, I just watched it.. I think I'm sold as well.

I have the demo...It's nothing special.

A small bite of the single player which was okay and the oasis map from the beta.

There are a few tweaks I noticed between this demo and the beta but it wasn't anything astounding (like showing a picture of the gun in kit selection, some words have different colors, invites into squads, and I think the options menu stuff has new stuff like strength of controller vibration).

I wasn't blown away by the beta. It felt exactly like Battlefield 2 with a destructible environment system implemented. The controls still feel like your character is sliding around on ice to me.

how big is the download size for the demo?
I need to make some space on my 20gb HD :S

With my luck, it would be easier just waiting for June 5th. :bomb:

"Congratulations, teddybass," he said, begrudgingly, while plotting to toss sprinkles and a farm of sugar-loving ants at the lucky bastard. ;)
