Battlefield: Bad Company - Gen. Discussion & Info
chase, what's the number on each tag mean? How many dog tags the person you killed had at the time you got theirs?
I have zero answers as to what the number means on the dog tag. Perhaps their level when you knifed them? I do not know.

*ponders*
Well? What the fuck do I do? I'm really really really pissed off right now. My 360 has ruined my Battlefield Bad Company disc and I dunno what to do about either situation, my 360 or my disc.
Unfortunately, it does indeed sound like your 360 is scratching discs - but that's as far as my 360 "how it works, yo" knowledge goes. I would seek aid in the 360 problems thread. Good luck! :)

I got this game for the multiplayer, but the single play game is very fun.
The dialog is hilarious, and the pace of the gameplay keeps me entertained.
The demo really didnt do this game justice IMHO

Well I finally got my copy today and lucky me amazon's sniper rifle codes don't work and mine wasn't any different.

Anyways, I'll also join the group whenever it's made.
Can anyone confirm or deny if the Gold edition is worth the extra $10?
Not worth it at all. I picked up the gold and don't even use the unlocked weapons.
Not worth it at all. I picked up the gold and don't even use the unlocked weapons.
I just picked it up. Haven't played yet, but what I was really looking for was if the video content was worth it. I dig the behind the scenes crap. Anyhow, purchase made and shrink wrap off, no turning back now.
Can anyone confirm or deny if the Gold edition is worth the extra $10?
Well,...
Not worth it at all. I picked up the gold and don't even use the unlocked weapons.
...I played the single-player Story mode and remember using a couple of the weapons (the AN94 and VSS). Those were okay guns. Nothing really memorable. If anything, the Find All Five guns are a lot better. The M60 (machinegun) is a powerful beast within a metal casing, and while a lesser-powered shotgun, the USAS12 has good sights.
Well guys I am supposed to be getting this game tomorrow and before I open I wanted to know if it is worth it.

Thanks!
I'll say this much: I enjoy it as much as Call of Duty 4. :whistle2:# But don't tell anyone. thx :whistle2:$

Chase, sorry I have not been playing this as much as I should, but im determined to
get to the Gold Cross by Thursday.
Then it is full speed ahead BF:BC....

(When im not in MGO :whee: )

I understand, Khondor. I would be doing the same thing if I had prestiged. :D;)

And I'd love to play with you guys in Metal Gear Online (MGO), but I cannot justify buying a PS3 at this point in time. Maybe when their library is less anemic. SOCOM and MGO look fun, though. \\:D/

I took the liberty to proofread and edit Random-GameSpot-User's post. It read like a punch to the eyeballs. So, I made it pretty. I must say, it reads much better now. You're welcome. Hehehe...

Anyhow, EA DICE developer, Jespar, answered key questions often posed by a considerable amount of Bad Company players.

#1

So, last night, some buddies and I had an opportunity to play alongside, Bad Company developer, Jespar. We made sure to ask a few him questions. I used the opportunity to ask questions many people want answered.

Rank boosting

It was actually very funny. In the first game, we all were split up. One of our guys got on a squad with the Jespar, and myself and my other friend were thrown on a squad with people boosting. They were boosting in a game with a developer in it. Imagine that. So, we all left that game and formed back up. We asked him when would all this boosting end. He had good news. Basically, he said a server-side patch to cease boosting will arrive Monday or Tuesday. We couldn't get any confirmation really about the leaderboards, but he did say something about Xbox Live customer service issuing warning to those caught boosting. Needless to say, it's a start.

Clan support

He was very positive about it and said it is definitely something they are talking about. Better yet? EA Digital Illusions CE (EA DICE) can and will implement it into the game if enough people want it. He was exceptionally positive about clan support. I expect to see it added to the game in the future.

Full-team voice chat

If you dislike squad-only voice chat, you may be disheartened if you read onwards. Jespar said one the senior producers had decided four would be the maximum number of people one would be able to chat with during the game. It boiled down to troubles with a push-to-talk system, lag, and how Xbox Live users would fulfill stereotypes of moronic behavior. In layman's terms, full-team voice chat would have been far less functional. EA DICE found voice chat worked best the way it was always utilized in Battlefield games. However, he lead me to believe lag was the primary hindrance with full-team voice chat.
Clan support would be glorious. I only once encountered rank boosters, who I proceeded to team kill, but it is good that they will address the issue in an upcoming fix. Hopefully, while applying the fix, it will also implement Conquest mode. I dig Gold Rush, but, in this case, more is better. Oh, and I figured EA DICE kept squad-only voice chat due to lag issues with full-team voice chat. Squad-only voice chat wouldn't be an issue if the party system were better. For instance, if party members would stay with their party when divided into squads and not sent to the opposition.

Thats ok Chase, but just so you know. The PSN will never feel complete without you there :grouphug:

Yeah, it's funny because the half circle health thing comes up too.

They really need to fix the squads in this game. When you join a server as a squad, it's frustrating when everyone gets split, or after a round change, your squad gets split.
Anyone else killed someone with the power tool online? I chased the guy down with the tool going and got him.
I took moojuice's advice and decided to kill everything with a power tool. Broke down a tank, busted down walls and killed two enemies trying to plant a charge. Hilarious...it's so powerful!

Ive actually gotten really good at this game recently. I usually either play A Specialist with the Uzi (such a awesome gun!) or I play Demolition and use the Automatic Shotgun that you get for the Find all Five (same with the uzi). Im averaging around 300 points per each round now. Defending and attacking. So about
600 points per game. Once u really get use to it, its really awesome.

Used to be if you got knifed it was a humiliation kill. Now knives are too common. I think a game in the future needs a wet towel as a weapon. So you can kill someone by snapping them in the ass with it like 3-4 times. Just so the person who died would be like "I just got pwned by a wet towel." The power tool is a decent humiliation kill alternative though I guess.

I finally got the game. Anyone who's looking for teammates add me I'm usually on after 5 ET. I'd also like to get in on a CAG game night if we do one.

I had this pre-ordered at one point in time, but I canceled it after playing the demo. Now I keep hearing good things about it and now it's making me want to pick it up again.

How was the single-player campaign for those of you that have played through it? I don't have a lot of time for multi-player right now.

Was this a freebie with pre-order anywhere:

Ok I loved BF:MC played the crap out of it back in the day. Was so busy working and playing other things never got to play this demo but a few times... Decided to rent it yesterday and dang it's alot of fun! Maybe because I haven't played COD4 in awhile but still it's fun and a different kind of shooter... I think i'm gonna pick it up and hopefully find time to play it even with NCAA next week and other things already piled up.

I played the beta of this, and didn't like it. I downloaded the demo and enjoyed it much more. They fixed a lot of things that were bugging me. The gunplay was tightened up tremendously, which was my biggest issue. CoD4 still has a much better gun mechanic than BF, but BF is more geared toward teamwork, whereas CoD4 can be played both ways. Plain and simple, if you come up on 3 enemies in BF, and you're by your lonesome, you will die. If you roll as a team, the odds stack in your favor.

My only problem with this game is the voice chat is definitely broken. For the first half of the round, chat just doesn't work. The last half of the round, you can finally work out tactics with your squad. BF2:MC had broken chat for the entire duration of it's life, so it will probably be ignored for the lifespan of the game.

The squad system, however, works very nicely.

Are the EA Severs down? Im on BF Bad Company right now and it has booted me off the server and crashed. Now i can not connect? Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes, but I THINK it was UK only. There were some floating around eBay a while ago.
Are the EA Severs down? Im on BF Bad Company right now and it has booted me off the server and crashed. Now i can not connect? Is anyone else having this problem?
The servers have been on/off lately.

Yea I tried to get on at about 300am last night and it wouldn't connect to EA servers... Tried again about 400am and it was up so I played about an hour even though everyone stats and unlocked had reset to zero.... Played for abour an hour just now and everything is back to normal, I was kinda hoping for a reset since I just started playing saturday night but i'm not complaining it woulda sucked for those invested. :D

Oh yea and the reason I popped in here..... What do the numbers mean on the dog tags? I have them ranging from 2 - 19 I believe, is that the persons rank that you took um at? The #2 looks crappy and broken.... They are fun and a rush when you get um at least for a noob. Last night I stuck up on a group of snipers and took 3 in one swoop before I had to shoot the last guy.... 4 sniper pack go figure....
Just tried that code and couldn't get it to go through.

Thanks anyways.
ok. thanks for letting me now. i guess someone either used it or something.

I finally got around to playing this demo on Saturday and played the SHIT outta the MP demo all weekend. The game feels quite a bit like BF2 with more condensed maps (at least the Oasis map I played). Does the full game come with more unlocks than just the few the demo has (I would assume so)?

I may have to pick this up if I can grab it for < $50.

is there a CAG group yet for it? I'd be willing to make one where we can play both the demo and game.

If anyone is on the fence about this game just get off the fence and grab it.

The game is a nice change of pace from COD4 although COD4 is better in most respects. The game could have used a better leveling system akin to COD4 but it makes up for it in the sheer mayhem and diversity of gameplay the game offers in huge maps with different ways to tackle them...and this time your not getting raped by helicopters.
...and this time your not getting raped by helicopters.
it's the other way around. blow them out of the sky and it's satisfying.

why? there's people in them!

This game really does make me miss BF 2 MC. Not to say this isnt a good game but battlefield mc conquest was really fun. Conquest will be ok in this one but the maps on 2 were much better.

If 2 didnt have the crappy servers, glitches and same maps over and over then I'd still be playing that over this

So how many CAG are playing this game? I am still on the fence about it. If there is a group of CAG playing on a daily basis then I will go ahead and pick it up.

Seems like everyone is playing UT though.

I still play this as often as the other games. I really wish they'd make the running like COD4. Having to hold down the left-stick makes me paranoid that I'll soon need a new controller.

Ok I just recently got this game and put in a good 10 hours and I am finally ready to say my peace.

This is game. Simply put....its not good. Before we jump into it let me say that I love BF MC for PS2. I played it all the way up until they cut off the servers...and if they hadnt I would still be playing it. This game....ugh.

1. This is the worst respawn system I have ever seen in a game. Since this is the Bad Company thread I assume you know how it works.

The problem with it is that you can really only spawn and instantly die as the squad member is in the middle of a fight, or more than like spawn on that sniper who is completely position..or of course spawn at the base if you feel the need to lose a few pounds running.

I cant believe you can not choose who you spawn on or at the very least move the camera around to see if its save to spawn. This also poses a problem when you are in a fire fight with someone then all of a sudden 2-3 people instantly appear next to them. This leads me to my number one gripe of the game

2. The targeting system is the most mind boggling thing I have ever seen. And by targeting system I mean the way you instantly appear to everyone on the other team if you get into a firefight. Honestly what the fuck? This makes it impossible to do almost anything but run and gun spray and pray. For example.

I was attacking. I took up a very good position over looking the crate. I was racking up kills left and right and keeping the opposing team from setting up a defensive position around the crate. Mortar strike along with my LMG was ripping through anyone who tried to camp the crate. No one notice me at all. Until by sheer dumb luck a guy shot 3 bullets at me before I killed him. Not 2 seconds later did 4 people spawn and instantly start running at me while I am trying to dodge sniper fire.

I am all for killing camping as much as the next person but its fucking crazy to be wearing a tracking device just because someone shot at me. Hell its not uncommon for me to win a firefight then run through 4 or 5 building and hide in a corner in order to heal myself and not 2 seconds after does a person walk into that very room and kill me. I simply do not get it. I dont understand why just because you fire upon me at point A your entire team should be able to see me run to point Z.

COD4 had it best when it just allows you to see at what point a gun was fired. I dont understand this tracking system where the other team can see you through walls, buildings, hills, and on the mini map.You basically can never stop moving unless you are a sniper. Its mind boggling to me.

3. Bullet dame simply put is horrid. It takes a direct hit from a grenade launcher to kill someone where as a sniper hand gun will kill you in 2 hits. 10-15 bullets per person to take them down.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

There is tons of other stuff but it seems like they made this game solely for blowing up building and thats it. Underpowered weapons, horrid squad system that only allows you to talk to 3 people and a equally bad spawn system make this a title that is only for rental.

Also if you are thinking of picking this game up just notice that fact that barely any of us CAG even talk about the game. 3 post in the last like 5 days.

Think about it.
