What are the differences between Gamers Club Free and Gamer Club UNLOCKED?

There are two versions of the Gamers Club, one is the FREE version, and the other is the UNLOCKED version (both require you to be a base Reward Zone member before signing up).
You can sign up for the base Reward Zone account and the free version of the Gamers Club instore OR online. Signing up for Gamers Club UNLOCKED must be done in-store.

• Sign up for @Gamer/UNLOCKED in any Best Buy Store for $14.99 a year! (10 Mags total for the year, Single Magazines will run you $5)

• July magazines will be going going on sale Sunday (7/15). So if you want to increase your chances of getting the next Magazine on time, sign up sign up for GCU the day they become available.
(if some stores have the Magazines out earlier, they should let you purchase it)

• YES, the CURRENT copy of the Magazine IS FREE when you sign up for Unlocked! So MAKE SURE the associate scans the Magazine during the sign-up transaction!

FYI Those Omniblade daggers are insanely powerful. I am 5 hours in and everything i have tried to upgrade to (even if they list better stats) dont come close to the damage those super blades do.

Yeah I was 10 hours in before I upgraded anything that came from the demo/GS preorder. If you preordered at GS, there's no way you would ever use anything from those for sale packs. I was so glad when I did the sidequests in Canteroc and got the house with storage chest b/c I was always running out of room with all the weapons/armor for Might I was carrying that I couldn't use.

Also make sure you do that as soon as you get into Canteroc as I'm on quest 6 of 14 in the main story line (I have the Future Press guide from launch) and that's still the only house available. I know you get one if you beat each of the pay DLC's and also once you beat the game so that's something to keep in mind. I don't think you can do the pay quest DLC's until you reach level 10.

I doubt you'll get your issue that fast. Just spend $5 for a copy instore, and pick up KoA for a total of about $15, still a great deal!

Your supposed to get the mag when you subscribe and I think the sale on KOA ends today. It won't arrive on time that's why you get the mag at the store. If I were you I would go back and try to get the mew mag there just show them the receipt and tell them you didn't get the mag.

That's true, they should have handed him that July/August issue when he signed up. Take the receipt back to the store and ask for one, they should hook you up.
 
I never got my welcome coupons. I emailed the @gamer support, and they told me they couldn't do anything, and told me to go to the Best Buy I signed up at and ask them for the coupons. Kind of stupid that @gamer can't solve my problem with their service.

Did anyone else have this problem? Do they come in the mail, or email, or what? After or when you sign up?

I never got my welcome packet from when I signed up last year either, I posted on the BestBuy forums about it and they said they were going to send me a new one that never happened. You could try your luck though.

(They mail it to you after you signup maybe 1 - 2 months)

Cool thanks for the heads up. You think redeeming the online pass is worth it? I figured the rest of the game would be enough but its all been great so far that i am worried i am really missing out.

Well you don't get Shepard's armor unless you redeem the pass, & I would go ahead and redeem it to get that faction quest line. Easier to get to the level cap.

Yes this is what I did this time last year w/Dungeon Siege 3 coupon. This was before Unlocked was tied into the magazine though.

Actually I believe the $39.99 price is the new MSRP for KoA. So the $10 price for the game is good until the coupon expires.

x.x fantastic. my local store apparently doesn't carry the magazines for new subscribers. @gamer customer service is closed until Monday. hopefully they can help me out or BB will issue a credit or something.

Hmm, should have shortened the post more. That was my fault. I know about that because when I went to sign up the lady and manager told me the mag was not included and wouldn't ring it up in the same order for some reason (another $5 sale I guess, whatever that's worth). Also my fault, I guess, for not asking as soon as it happened. She finished everything up and I thought they would just give me the magazine like they do when signing up for PUR at GS, but when she told me have a nice day I asked about the magazine and was told I had to buy it.

Either way, I was wondering if it was true that the price for KoA was expiring today/if it's jumping back up to $60.

Go to the Best Buy Unboxed forum and create a thread about your issue with not being given the magazine when you signed up.

Also....look about 3-5 posts up for the answer for if the KoA price is expiring tonight or not.:razz:

I picked up KoA a few days ago, and finally got around to playing it today. For whatever reason, the demo didn't impress me too much... but I have to say, I am loving this game now. It's definitely the best purchase I've made through this magazine. It makes me feel kinda sad that this company is out of business now. They put together a really good game.

I searched for this game last week on the PS3 at all stores... and had no luck for either system.

The only one that had was the one up in the Bronx on Fordham Road. They had a couple copies for both systems, but chances are they are gone now.

I bought two at Kings Plaza in Brooklyn but they had only four total and none for PS3. All four were for 360. I bought two and left the other two there. Could always order online and then when you receive it, return it and then rebuy it using the coupon you have. Personally, those coupons should be valid online but thats my own personal opinion.
 
Got the last copy of Kingdom of Amalur for PS3 at the local Las Cruces BB. No copies of Tera were in stock though. The guy said they could order it to the store and I could still use the coupon, but I would have to wait a few weeks for it.

When there's 0-2 copies of an item in inventory, in-store pickup isn't an option. 3 or more, yes.

Struck out at 2 BB's today trying to find Amalur on the way home from visiting my gf. Anybody think a restock is likely or is BB completely done with their copies of Amalur?

I can't say if it's true or if it's for every bestbuy, but one employee at my bestbuy said they were getting a restock toward the end of the month. Don't want to get your hopes up. I can't see where they'd get the stock to restock the store when online are sold out as well.
 
I know it's ymmv, but has anyone had luck getting an override for a coupon for a used copy of a game? Could being silver, unlocked, and a frequent customer get you any leniency?
 
Unless they still have a Kingdoms of Amular:Reckoning stash in their warehouses somewhere, they will most likely not restock. As said by a few members already, several Best Buy employees have stated the game is discontinued, meaning no more reproduction.

Yeah I kinda think thats how it will go. I wanted to stop at a third on the way home (would have been a slight detour) but my phone/GPS died and I had to rush back home for a 21st birthday party so I didnt have time to check. I went to sign up for Unlocked at one of the BB's today too and the rep said they were out of mags...Just a fail day with Best Buy for me.

even if it do get restock, it will still be a limited amount in terms of quanities
