Note that it says ANY HD DVD $34.99 and uner.though not sure if that means it includes box sets. I gotta see if I can find 4 other movies to accompany Blade Runner that I've been wanting to purchase for a while.
Damn bb for doing hd dvd deals.

I have to go to 4 best buys to find freaking seed of chucky today. Pissing me off.

WHERES THE B2G1 BLU RAY SALE? HUH?
i'm not sure if they carry seed of chucky in stores

i checked on their website and it said online only

I'm actually kind of worried about this deal. I happened to be in Best Buy the other day (during the B2G1 on any HD DVD) and they had a sign up in the HD section stating that the B2G1 were only on selected HDs while the ad states that it's for ANY HD. In this situation, who's right? The ad or the sign in the HD section? I just hope they don't do this for the B3G2. Any thoughts?

I was at best buy the other day and was attempting the buy 2 get 1 deal and seen the sign that had only a few titles listed on it.

I asked one of the associates about this and he told me whatever was on the sign. I then told him that I was on the website earlier and the site would allow me to add any title that was 34.99 and still process them at the buy 2 get 1.

He then asked another associate who said "lets test it out" he asked me to get 3 titles that were not on the display list in which I did. He rang them up and the screen prompted him with the buy 2 get 1 deal.

Hope that helps.

Hopefully my Best Buy will have stuff I want. They usually don't have much. Well, as long as I get Blade Runner and 300 I'll be happy.

this is online now

free shipping

doesn't work on pre orders

picked up

Tremors, Shaun of the Dead, Seed of Chucky, Timecop, Skeleton Key - $80.22

Harry Potter 5, Scorpion King, Black Snake Moan, Balls of Fury, Eastern Promises - $101.62

its more like buy 4 get 1 if you go by amazon prices :\

I just placed my order:

Blade Runner
Disturbia
Eastern Promises
The Kingdom
TMNT

I had $35 worth of reward zone coupons, bringing my total to $70.15, or $14.03 a movie. Not too bad at all.

The thing with that is that most of the $24.99 movies are 19.99 on amazon. It works out to being a better deal with the more recent $29.99 releases that amazon has in that range. =\

I know which signs you're talking about. My store had the exact same signage (I should know, I put them out there), but the registers still rang out on ANY HD titles. And for the record you can purchase a box set in these sales, it just can't be one of your free titles; those are the ones that must be 34.99 or lower. Hope that helps you out.

bought:

Eastern promises
the kingdom
v for vendetta
full medal jacket
2001: a space odyssey

Plus I had 80 bucks in gift cards so I got all 5 movies for around 15 bucks. :)

Well I was able to score copies of The Kingdom, Pan's Labrynth, The Shining, Shaun of the Dead, and Eastern Promises.

Only trouble was that the deal would not come up on the checkout computer properly and I had to deal with waiting for a manager to come over and override the prices. They even tried to tell me that it had to be from the titles shown but I wasn't having that. Just curious if anyone else had all five of their discs ring up at full price too?

Yes, that happens.. I strongly advise everybody to check their receipts upon checkout and make sure they apply it correctly too.

I think Pan's Labryrinth suppose to be $32.99 as per price tag but the scanner may scan at $34.99.
StarDust is $29.99 but stupid scanner says $34.99. Once must ask the cashier to adjust it as per the price tag.

Yeah, this happened to me too, I got:

Blade Runner: 5-Disc Edition
Eastern Promises
The Shining
Full Metal Jacket
A Clockwork Orange

the guy at the counter at first tried to say it was because Blade Runner was a Collector's Edition which I knew was bs, so I said okay take Blade Runner off and ring up one of the others twice... still didn't work. So the manager came over and eventually took one of the $24.99 movies off, then for some reason took Blade Runner off which was $34.99, her mistake, but I wasn't about to try and stop her.

Very, very nice deal at BB! I picked up:

Blade Runner: 5-Disc Edition
HD DVD Starter 3-Pack (Anchorman/Blades of Glory/Old School)
HD DVD Starter 3-Pack (Tomb Raider/Sky Captain/Sleepy Hollow)
The Shining
V for Vendetta

$124.97+tax...had a gift card that covered it all, too :)

Yep, the 3 packs (which are currently "on sale" for $44.99) worked. The only stipulation is that your 2 freebies need to be $34.99 or less.

Argg! Guess I'll go do that deal then right away and return the 5 I just got.

I would try that but seeing as the first time they rang up full price, it'd be a little hard to get away with that if they look at the ad. So your store rang up all of those as a package price? Pretty cool, except the 3 packs aren't mindblowingly good movies or anything, but I guess that's why they're 3-packs.

Agreed - the 3-packs aren't mindblowing (I think the highlight was Sleepy Hollow, which we can't find anywhere locally), but we couldn't really decide on what else we wanted, so we picked those up.

Happened to me too after checking the reciept. Guess I'll be going back and getting an adjustment.

The blades of glory anchorman and old school one is great.. considering I paid full price for those three when they came out.

Admittedly, this is probably the best deal retail-wise but Amazon's deals and prices spoiled me so much that I think this best buy sale is still way too expensive.

Also, I agree w/will ferrell 3 pack being good. I went into best buy not to take advantage of the deal but to buy this 3 pack (plus I had $25 in giftcards) so this was a great price for me.
I'm getting

Kingdom
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry
Balls of Fury
Shooter (pricematched to 29.99 at CC)- free
40-Year Old Virgin- free
The cashier sup at Best Buy tried to not let me have the deal because I pricematched Shooter and said it was double dipping :bomb: I said price matching isn't a special offer that would void their deal and I can't help Circuit City has a HD-DVD cheaper than you this week, plus do you really want to lose a $100 sale over $5? The cashier sup then manually overrid Kingdom and 40-Year Old Virgin (which were at the bottom of my stack) to zero. This was after I requested a manager (which ended up being him) because of the $20 off 3 Blu-Ray movie purchase RZ coupon. All told it took me 20 minutes to check out for 2 transactions (had cash for the HD-DVD's and the BB card for the Blu-Rays.)

Got 5 at Circuit City, got 5 at Best Buy... Plus 3 Blu-Ray movies at $20 then use the $20 OFF Coupon Today!!!

13 HD Movies for Price of 8... Ain't bad at all!!! :D

I'm an HDDVD supporter and I've loved these deals the past few weeks but aren't any of you worried that these deals are marking a sign of the times? Maybe stores have gotten word that HD DVD was going to see Warner Bros go Blu Ray exclusive or something and mark the end at CES? Are they just trying to get rid of excess stock? I haven't heard anyone say anything but it has been a concern of mine. It kind of feels like they're trying to make money fast on a sinking ship.... curious what you guys think.

Ryno, I don't think that's the case. HD DVD is having all of these sales simply to stay competitive. BD has had multiple sales and I'm sure HD heard the cries of HD supportes and decided it was time to take action. :)

I couldn't really find 5 movies that I wanted for this deal, but while I was at BB I saw a sign in the HD DVD section that was b2g1 only on about ten different titles. Got Stardust, Balls of Fury, and Batman. This wasn't in last weeks ad so I don't know where this deal came from. It also didn't show up on the register so a manager had to adjust manually. Gainsville, Va store by the way.

I wouldn't read into it too much. There are many fire sales like this going on both sides. Which is needed right now if either side wants to get Joe Sixpack interested in either format.

I see that everyone has Eastern Promises on my list. How good is it really? I mean the critic's and previews seem to be good, but what is the CAG opinion.
I see that everyone has Eastern Promises on my list. How good is it really? I mean the critic's and previews seem to be good, but what is the CAG opinion.
I blind bought it yesterday with the sale and watched it last night. I have to say that I thought it was great and really liked everything about it. I think if you are a fan of Cronenbergs previous movie A History of Violence, you will like this one as well.

The thing I don't like about crtically acclaimed films is that although you love it, you wouldn't watch it like 10 times. Well, that's the case for me. After watching a great film once, it slowly starts to get boring and boring to watch. I would rather buy something on HD worth watching more than 1 time.

Had 5 movies in my cart ready to buy, but I decided to wait.

Amazon is spoiling me with BOGO, I can't justify $18 HD DVDs.

Since this lasts till the 5th, I'm going to wait and see if Amazon comes up with a new sale before I decide to jump or not.

Uh, so you want us to recommend some terrible movies so that you can watch them multiple times? Ok, I'll start.. how bout Hustle and Flow, ATL, and Norbit for starters.

Went to BB today and purchased:

2001- $0.00
Achorman- $0.00
Old School- $24.99
Stardust- $29.99 (rang up $34.99, but the sticker was $29.99)
Twilight Zone- $24.99

Ended up being $16.75 per disc after tax. Not bad, but the entire time I was shoppnig, I kept thinking I know 4 of the 5 titles will be on Amazon B1G1 in the next couple of months. Oh well, figured I'd use some of my gift cards and rewards zone bucks. This time nothing came out of my wallet.

Psst...there is a bundled pack for Anchorman+OldSchool+BladeofGlory for $44.95 (making each $14.98 each), since you're already getting Anchorman and Old School, just add Blades of Glory to your list and you'll make it cheaper (per disc). Also, pick another $24.99 title, you're home free. You can get 'em as part of the B3G2 free if you can get the cashier to do the manual adjustment. Also, since you're getting StarDust, don't FORGET that free $5 off coupon from StarDust web site. It works for HD as well (but YMMV with the cashier). But, Best Buy system takes off the $5 only after the tax been applied.. that makes it less than $5 but hey.. it is still good.

You know, I just read some interesting articles on the HD codec and the size of discs comparison between Bluray and Hd and I must say that we should all be supporting HD no matter what. It truly is the better of the two for compression, etc. Wit the exception of maybe a few HD, I'm pretty much going to set up in the HD camp.

I'd say keep trying until you get an employee that doesn't care. The girl that rang me up last night was amazed at the 3 movies for $45 in the "starter pack". Lucky me got these for $105:

Bourne Supremacy
Bourne Ultimatum
Hot Fuzz
Next
Old School
Blades of Glory
Anchorman
