Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

lol did anyone have any luck using the 5 off any PS2/PSP game or MCD coupon? Last time I used it got turned down since it was a copy.
 
Nothing at my BB. Then again all the times I have been there I hardly seen any of those games listed except for a few. Oh well, grabbed Taiko for a total of $15.89 thanks to the GGC they have there. They had severa GGCs there and I might swing buy get grab them all, maybe. I might also check out the other BB but I just paid for tag fees for my car and I'm poor. I hope I have some money for the EB B2G1 sale this weekend.

I took one with me just to try... there weren't any PS2 games really to get when I showed up. Well, I pulled Jeopardy out and took it to the register with the two other games I got... rang it up, and it worked. However, Jeopardy rang up at $9.99, so it was marked down to 4.99. I said to heck with it (kinda broke till Thursday), and decided not to get it.
 
I don't have time at the moment to check through the previous pages, sorry! Are most all of the $4.99 games ringing up as $9.99?

I also would love a copy of Astro Boy: Omega Factor. The only two places near me that have it, never have a deal, and when there was one, I missed it. :( I would appreciate it if someone could get me one and charge $15 or below. I just can never seem to get my hands on this game. :(

I ordered and picked up an extra copy of Growlanser Generations online for pickup at the 86th and Lex Bestbuy. I did this specifically for trade or sale at cost to a deserving CAGer. I would really like to trade this for Ys from this sale.

So, it turns out that 2 of my 3 games ordered online are back ordered. Them being Silent Hill 4 and Mortal Kombat Deceptions: Kollector's Edition. At least it still says, Mech Assault 2 will ship which is the game I wanted the most. Anyway, it's pretty bad that they over sell their actual stock and do the back order thing, not cool.
 
Went to one off 75 in Dallas at lunch time and they only had the Desert Storm game for PS2. Other than that one they had a bunch of jack squat.

I may have to check one in Fort Worth later today when I get off work.

There are two different original eyetoy packages!! One that is the $29.99 and one that is the $9.99 on sale model.

Well that was almost a waste of time, I hit up the cerritos, ca store as it opened, and there was nothing, nada, zip... on the way out I found an xbox Magic the Gathering in a clean up cart, so I snagged that for 4.99.
 
Chicago area report:

I started hitting stores a little before 11AM in the following order:
Touhy (Village Xing)
Howard (Evanston)
Old Orchard
Golf (Des Plaines/Niles)
HIP

The best bet I recommend for others is the Old Orchard store, they still have some of the fodder titles. It appeared as though most of the stores had already been picked over, if they had the desirable titles in the first place. One cashier mentioned people coming in knowing about deals.

I managed to score Ys but not Growlanser, and a few extra cheapies because I'd like to take advantage of the EBGames $5 extra deal.

I used 2 McD coupons at 2 different stores with no real problem.

I had multiple instances of list discrepancies, mostly with the $4.99 titles ringing up higher. I left my checklsit in the car, but I remember the deer hunting title, crash 'n burn, rocky legends, and Scaler xbox ringing up higher.

I'm going to try to hit the Chicago-proper stores after work, but I don't have much hope.

Out of curiosity, when did you place your order for Silent Hill 4? Mine was placed at 2:44 AM, so I'm wondering if that will help my chances. If people who placed their orders before then are getting backorder messages, I guess I should be worried. :whistle2:(

I think there is a store policy where during sales like this NO EMPLOYEE can buy stuff during the day they work, but the seeing how management is getting younger and younger (cause the older managers quit)..who the hell knows who runs best buy these days.

Went to 3 local So Cal Best Buys. Though not a complete bust, knowing then what I know now, I probably would've saved myself the trip. The second (third?) coming of the $5 Circuit City sale this wasn't, and the list was definitely not accurate (see below for details).

Sawtelle/Pico store:
Bought 2 copies of Future Tactics PS2 for $0.99. No other deals, and employees said they knew nothing about a clearance.

Westwood store:
They had a bunch of stuff, but it was all twice as much as the OP list. The reason? Some signs saying "If you buy a normal-priced game, you can get a stickered clearance game for 50% off." Blech. I picked up a Legacy of Kain Defiance, Scooby Doo Mystery Mayhem, and Ty 2 for $5 each. Still some $5 games left for locals.

Culver City store:
Not much here, either, but maybe I had become jaded from the other stores. I picked up a $20 Donkey Konga 2, even though I haven't played the original much. They had some more Future Tactics PS2 here, but a few other people smart to the "deal" may have grabbed them.
 
yep, 1:30 was too late to get anything good. with use of the $5 off PS2 games, i grabbed Metal Arms for $5, MTX MotoTrax free, and Mr. Driller for NDS for $10. bastards.
 
There wasn't really anything at the Mesa BB except a couple copies of Astro Boy, which I already got at the $10 price at Fry's a few months ago. A disappointing day overall. :sad:
 
i havent read the thread since it was about 20 pages, but...for the people who swore that their best buy had some of the games but didnt have them on sunday...did they reappear for the sale?

well i was there at 9:50 this morning..there were about 10 pple outside waiting. I got two mr drillers and one zoo keeper. I am not hording or anyting. I got the second mr driller for a freind taht asked me to. also there were like 5 copies of mr driller there. all the 4.99 games rang up as 9.99 instead. there was one future tatics for .99 cents but someone else got that before me. this is at the vista ridge store in lewisville tx. there was nothing at the mesquite store. and a few games at the midway store. i had friends check out the stores in thier area.. so good luck to all. it wasnt as good as we thought it woulld be..and it seems all the best buy employees knew about it at the stores i mentioned.

It was wierd at my Best Buy -- a month ago, there was Final Fantasy Chronicles, Anthology, VIII, and IX readily available. Now, the only game is Cabela's fucking Deer Hunter. Blow me.
 
COMPLETELY picked over. blah. My Best Buy in Bellevue, WA had the tags highlighted with signs advertising it.

Unfortunately a lot of the games listed for $5 were $10 there. My friend only bought Rocky for PS2 for .99. I say a few games like splinter cell for gc and a few crappy ps2 racing games.

There were about 5 other people there with lists....it sucked.

All I bought was Unreal Championship 2 for $20.
 
Found only one copy of Catwoman for 99 cents. There were some of the $9.99 games, but nothing of interest.

One warning, though. Some of the GBA games have stickers over the UPC as "end cap game." I found two copies of the 99 cent Tarzan game for the GBA which rang up as $9.99.

They had crap at the Merced, CA store. It was swarming of Paper Mario 2's, Excitebike, and Astro Boy. Today... not so. Everything gone. I wonder why???? oh well, at least I picked up the last FF I & II

Went to Woodbridge also - Actually went yesterday to see what I could grab (didn't see anything), and then went back today, only to find more of nothing.

Have you checked E. Brunswick? I'm going there tomorrow (managed to get in an order for Final Fantasy & GTA (both GBA) for in-store pick-up.

I'm looking to get copies of the Incredibles & Silent Hill 4 (XBOX) - Yager would be nice also :) Let me know if you want anything, and I'll check it out for you.
