CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

I picked up the last copy of Growlanser at the DeKalb, IL BB. They were out of Silent Hill 4 and MMX: Command Mission, which were the two other games I wanted. I saw some copies of FF 1 & 2: Dawn of Souls for GBA left, Terminator 3: Redemption for PS2, and Rocky for PS2 if anyone is interested in those. I didn't see much else of interest.

anyone that has an extra, or can get an extra final fantasy anthology and/or final fantasy 1 & 2 dawn of souls please PM me, and ye may be handsomely rewarded.

I'm going to hit my store (just for the hell of it) now and see if anything is there. I'd be happy with a $10 Mr. Driller and/or Astro Boy.
I did stop at my BB (on my way home). Racine WI

Saw almost nothing on the list except:

Got a $10 Mr. Driller! Last one
$10 Otogi 2 . . . there were a few more!!!
$1 Future Tactics . . . several left
$5 Bloodrayne 2 (PS2 after McD coupon)

Best of all, I used my $75 gift card (free for signing up for RoadRunner at BB).

If my Silent Hill 4, Astro Boy, and Crash Nitro actually ship (at the discount) I will have gotten everything I really wanted).

I also stopped at Goodwill and found a SNES Mario World/Mario All Stars dual cart for $2.

My BB was sold out of Paper Mario, but I went and priced matched at walmart and got it there. Also picked up Urbz(GBA) and Mr Driller(DS).

Well I check the east side CO Springs store... I decided to ask someone about the sale, since nothing was marked... he said I was about the 6th person to ask him... that no such sale exists... and that he'd even price checked games from the list for people, and no sale.

I didn't see anything good anyway...

Not even going to bother going back to the other to check out the few GBA games I saw yesterday... especially since they might not even be having the sale at all :/

But at least I got Mr. Driller online! :D I think...

I am curious to know if a lot of the GBA games that dropped to 9.99 truly were 4.99 at the stores that did this, or if that was inccorect. I'm sure it's around this thread... somewhere... in the midts of the *looks*... 73 pages

*edit* I'm reading through the 73 pages :p ... I can't believe all of y'all that got Paper Mario and still think the sale was a bust! That isn't cheap used, even... so to get it new for 9.99, be happy about it! ;)
They had crap at the Merced, CA store. It was swarming of Paper Mario 2's, Excitebike, and Astro Boy. Today... not so. Everything gone. I wonder why???? oh well, at least I picked up the last FF I & II
I actually lived in Merced/Atwater for a good portion of my life at Castle AFB. I'd like to go back there at some point to see how it is with the base gone... I've heard that the old Air Museum is still alive and kicking.

This Hoarder and fuckING TWIT should be burned at the stake for that.

Not too much at the Onalaska, WI store.

Got:
Ford Mustang (Xbox) $4.99 last one
Ty Tasmanian Tiger (Xbox) $4.99 last one
(2) Final Fantasy I&II GBA at least 8 more copies left when I was done

Also saw:
Incredibles (Xbox)
Lemony Snicket (Xbox)
Fairly Oddparents (GC)

Nothing great,

since when does Walmart price match!?!?!?!
all walmarts I have gone to NEVER pricematch and claim to be the lowest priced store in the area
When you get the email about "Your Order is Ready for Pick-Up", the items are supposed to have been pulled by a BB rep, set aside in the in-store pickup area inside of the customer service area, and acknowledged that all items have been pulled and verified to what's been ordered.

If you arrived after that email's been sent out, and within 8 days of the email being sent, all of your stuff is supposed to be waiting for you. If some of it is missing, or all of it is missing, someone screwed up big time.
I figured that something wasn't right when 6 of the local stores near me had everything in stock and then nothing in stock via the "Availibility" thing-a-ma-jig a few hours later.

I've done store pick-ups before and I wonder if:

A) Got an employee going through the motions and just "OK'd" everything for pick-up before checking/bringing the stock to the CS desk.

B) An employee who wanted the games for themselves.

I'm not one of those conspiracy theroists who think the whole world is against them (ie, people who blame the world on phantom hoarders), so I bet it's option A.

There is still some stuff left online.... maybe not the greatest, but I picked up Nascar 2005 and Ty 2 both for GCN. Even with shipping it's probably cheaper than the gas to get there.
This Hoarder and fuckING TWIT should be burned at the stake for that.
That's not hoarding. I agree he shouldn't have bought them just to trade in, but to each his own.
This Hoarder and fuckING TWIT should be burned at the stake for that.
I knew some would flame him . . . I disagree if he only bought a single copy of each . . . the hoarders are the people with a cart full of copies.

Also, to me, it depends on the number of copies. I got Future Tactics to sell at FYE . . . but I left 8 copies and I doubt anyone is dying to play it anyway.

Spent my lunch going to the one in Taylor, MI and there was nothing. No games that were listed, no huge empty spots, nothing what so ever that might have indicated there would be a sale. Would have asked an employee but I needed to get back to work. Guess I'll stop at the Roseville store when I head out in a few, but I'm hesitant since even if they were better I'm sure it's all picked over now that the kiddies are out of school. :'(

found 2 copies of Yager, medal of honer rising sun, and true crime...alot of the games came up 9.99 so i put those back...i was looking for Ty 2, harvest moon, sc pandora tomorrow or metal gear solid but no luck...i went to bb in west nyack, paramus and the one by garden state plaza
Anybody is southeast Michigan have any luck? Like at the Dearborn or Southgate stores?
I am considering stopping by either store today. (It depends, I have a lot to do after work tonight and might not feel like dealing with the Southfield freeway.)

Like a lot of people, the Southfield store's $4.99 PS2 games were all ringing up at $9.99 or even $19.99.
That's not hoarding. I agree he shouldn't have bought them just to trade in, but to each his own.
It may not be hoarding but it is profiteering. Buying games just for profit is ALMOST as bad as hoarding.

i see no point in buying 10 copies of harry potthead and trying to see if I can make some quick cash...just buy what you want to actually play...its like when i first posted that wave bird metroid prime bundle at kmart for 20 bucks over the summer...I could have cleaned out every walmart within the area and sold it on ebay but no...I bought it just for the wb..and then let everyone know how they could save 15 bucks just on the wb alone. Why Kmart REFESES to price drop the wb/Mario Party 4 is beyond me, after all MP 7 is on its way right?

sold the Metroid Prime to a friend for 30 cents (4.70 shipping)
next thing you know ebay will be flooded with Growlanser and Y's!
it doesnt even seem like there were that many of this to go around...

My local BB had nothing. The only game I saw was Sega Superstars EyeToy for $9.99, but it was useless to me since I don't have a eye toy. However I did see 4 other people with a list of games, but all of them came up empty handed also. At least I got to see and touch the new Ipod Nano.

Okay you bought one copy for profit. Shame on you... but purchasing 5 or 6 good games just for profit... that sucks for the gamers.

coming soon... cheapasshoarders.com
paid for by all hoarders who cleaned out all the stores the day before the sale and sold them on ebay or doubled there money at ebgames.

btw does best buy price match and give you 10% diffrence of there own sales?
if so...then these pricks who pm backed to best buy are making out like a bandit.

I went to the one in Oceanside when they opened with my mom. I was looking for stuff for myself and my older brother and she was looking for stuff for my younger brother.

I saw another CAG there, got no name though.

I got:

Mr. Driller
Yager
Future Tactics

My mom got:
Mr. Driller
Spyro Hero's Tail

Then we went to the one in San Marcos and we learned from an employee that another employee hoarded a shitload of games. The bastard!

We still looked though. While looking, I noticed something through the rack. I look under and there is a basket with a crapload of the games on the list. Looks like someone tried to be slick and hide them but failed. I look in and grab:

FF: Dawn of Souls
Bard's Tale

We also found
Harvest Moon - A wonderful Life (one for me and my bro)
Rocky

All in all, a good find. Although I'm annoyed at that employee who will put up those games on ebay now. :/

aren't you suppose to be in schooL?

Although I'm doing my home study today.

Trust me, as soon as I get a better job, I'm outta here. :)

Overrated?

We will probably never ever see Growlanser or Ys this cheap ever again, not to mention of the other good deals like Otogi 2 and Mr Driller DS.

Good deal for you, I thought about doing the same but was to lazy to get out of bed to go do it. I ordered just Silent Hill 4 for my own personal enjoyment. I can't believe how hate filled people get when you post that you bought with intentions of trading them in to make money, THIS IS CHEAPASSGAMER.COM! Gimmie a break he bought one copy of each and more than doubled his money, your just mad that you couldn't do the same thing.

I hate you. ;) I want to find that so I can take back the copy of Another Wonderful Life I got for $15 at Meijer Saturday.

And I think it's Southgate not Taylor acctually. Has anyone else from SE Mich noticed that the stores around here period are pretty poor on these nationwide things?

Edit- Wow this thread is growing fast. Grew another page in the time I typed this.

I can verify that all prices listed are true. I just picked up paper mario, viewtiful joe, harvest moon, tarzan for 20$. The worker said they just got the list from corporate and haven't changed the prices in their system but they will give you the games for the right price.

I went to the two Paramus ones. A cart on the side at the one at the Garden State Plaza had GTA and Rapalla's for GBA. Hobbits and Metal Arms, NBA Live 2004, otherwise, they were clean except for a copy of Bard's Tale I snagged, and a $10 True Crime which I passed on.

The Best Buy in West Paterson had 2, count em, 2 Future Tactics, and a few GBA games which rang up as full price. wtf.

Definitely the ultimate B&M buzzkill. CC knows how to do it, BB has no clue.

Better yet they were normal copies, not PC copies.

yah know...the profit you and that guy made from that fucking move, ever thought of sending some of that money or even the games to the people affected in the hurricane hit areas? I am sure there were many CAGer's down there who lost all there games because of the floods and damn looters.

think about others who might not be so fortunite.

Tallahassee Best Buy (this is a time when I want to be in Tampa) was completely pilliaged by the employees. I got there at opening and an employee was on a phone wandering around holding Paper Mario and a few others and talking about how he bought everything. I ended up grabbing Future Tactics (all that was left) and then went to Circuit City to price match a few games. The only game they would price match was GCN LOTR the Thrid Age because it was the only one still in stock on-line. I got it for $3.50 and left.

just picked up:
Astro Boy for $10
2x Ys for $10 each
I know I'm crazy to even think someone might want to do this, but if someone would like to trade PM for Ys...
otherwise if someone is interested in Ys I will sell it here
and if not that, it goes back to the store...

Does anybody know if the online site will get things back in stock? My Best Buy had nothing... An employee smiled when I showed him the listed I printed out, he said somebody was in earilier buying stuff, and he got a bunch of stuff too. This is in Waterford CT.

This deal wasn't entirely true (unless someone reposted the prices...there's 70some odd pages of topic so I might have missed it if there was) but I went in to get the Metal Gear and some of the others that they said were $4.99 (also for the EB extra $5 deal) and they all wound up actually being $9.99 except for Scaler. The sale is going on definitely because I did pick up Paper Mario, Scaler, and a few others, but for the most part what would have made this such a good deal for EB isn't quite true.
just picked up:
Astro Boy for $10
2x Ys for $10 each
I know I'm crazy to even think someone might want to do this, but if someone would like to trade PM for Ys...
otherwise if someone is interested in Ys I will sell it here

Any interest in a sealed copy of Shadow Hearts: Covenant for Ys?
