Reviews suck and I feel bad for anyone who lives and buys games by them. Take ORC for what it is: not canon and a fun way to play through some hectic Raccoon City zombie-infested run-and-gun. I highly recommend playing with friends only though, single player can be dreadful with dumb AI.


I think too many people went into this game with higher expectations on name alone and forgot to look at the developer. I paid $28.xx at the Target mistake for the LE and it is worth every penny, but I'm a RE junkie.


Bottom line: have a few drinks, chill out, and shoot some zombies. Mostly any game is worth at least $15, let alone a major named-title.

You are right; the game is best played with friends and it isn't a sprint. Explore, find hidden items, shoot the cameras, level up, etc.

Metacritics has a rating of 52 for the game.

I'd say it's probably worth the $18 if you can enjoy it for what it is and overlook its faults. I got the collector's edition for $35 when Target accidentally clearanced it, and I think I've probably gotten enough enjoyment out of it. The campaign is short (although there's a whole second DLC campaign that I actually thought was better than the on-disc campaign, but it'll cost you another $20). Online deathmatch is pretty fun and challenging.

It IS really flawed, though. Horrible hit detection (your bullets will bounce off of things that aren't even close to being in your way, enemies will be sticking half out of cover but still invincible while they sometimes hit you when you're in full cover, etc). Friendly AI is ridiculous. In the end, they're just bullet sponges you use to draw enemy fire because they're useless for anything else... Although some of my fondest memories of the game involve me standing there watching a teammate walk right straight into an obvious trip mine and go flying...or, the best, watching my teammate (in a room with no enemies, mind you), walk right through a pile of flaming debris and run around the room flailing while on fire.
