Apparently I snagged the last copy of R3 in Burbank, I'm not a huge FPS fan but this looks really good.

By noon my local Best Buy was out of Resistance 3 copies, but they're still available online! I used some of my remaining PayPal balance from eBay sales.

Also, it seems as if you CAN get more than one, as long as you make it separate orders. I'm good with one copy, though.

Gears 3 outsold every single PS3 exclusive last year, plus Twisted Metal this year. We know this b/c Greg Miller of IGN had to buy a steak dinner for Jim Reilly (formerly of IGN now Game Informer) based on the sales numbers.

Ordered one at 4:00AM for a friend. Good thing too because they didn't have any on the racks when I stopped in at 11:00 today. Finally have a co-op partner!

For those of you on the fence, Resistance 3 has a really strong story, at least compared to other games in the genre. It's not Bioshock good, but I was impressed. The atmosphere in the game was pulled off very well, and the guns are really fun to shoot, especially when they upgrade. It's a lot like Ratchet and Clank in that you enter a room, bring up the weapon wheel and decide which gun you want to destroy everything with. Morgan Webb's review at G4 is a pretty good description of the game (not trying to plug, just the review I agreed with the most).

Lucked out with my cabinent. Got a shipping confirmation e-mail. Five hours later got a backorder e-mail. So I called customer service, and told them four stores within a few hours of mine have it in stock. The rep called while I was still on the phone, and found one that's shipping it to my local store where I can pick it up, and not pay anything for it being shipped from one location to another.

Gears sold about 5 Million. As a single entity it sold more games.

Gears was Microsoft's ONLY exclusive that year. So 360 gamers had nothing else to look forward to.

Uncharted 3: 4.43 million
LittleBigPlanet 2 2.44 million (just Uncharted 3 and LBP2 combined outsold Gears 3)
Killzone 3: 2.18 million
InFamous 2: 1.22 million
Resistance 3: 1.15 million
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One: 0.82 million
SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs: 0.66 million
MLB 11: The Show: 0.47 million
DCUO: 0.43 million
MotorStorm: Apocalypse: 0.27 million


Sony had Numerous Exclusives with a combined total that dwarfs Gears.

Sony is easily the winner here and the gamers of course.

PS3 users actually have variety and choice with their games and are not force fed a generic FPS shooter every 1-2 years

It's not like Gears was the only game available to xbox 360 owners. There was plenty of choice of cross platform games.

The fact that it was the only exclusive doesn't mean a damn thing to anyone. It's not like people sit around going "you know, i'm only gonna buy ONE console exclusive this year!!!"

Also UC3 selling nearly 4.5M is basically the same thing as Gears 3. It's just a dumb bet between editors and has nothing to do with which console is better.

What are Microsoft's exclusives these days? Halo, Fable, Forza, Gears? Of those how many are also on the PC? They seem to think people care about "timed" exclusives. Maybe in a consoles infancy that matters, but 6 years in there is such a backlog, people can wait 30 days for a release.

Funny thing about this generation is I started so pro Microsoft, Achievements, Xbox Live, games run at higher fps, etc. Now I actually despise them, the gold membership offers nothing and is a cash grab, they riddle the dash with ads, to much kinnect, and could care less about the game content they offer and don't listen to the community, trying to hard to be a media centric system and not a game console. Sony's plus offers actual value for the money, they matched trophies, they have tons of exclusives, gave us Move and 3D, they generally seem to listen to their community and implement what the community likes and wants, which is why they got the term CopyStation, but who cares if they are bringing the best of everything to one console. Next gen I may not go for every console and just go PS4, time will tell.

Edit: And I totally forgot to mention the sales. Xbox Live Gold Member sales have been terrible at best, compared to Sony PlayStation Plus sales, well there is no comparison.

Yes and No, its one of the symptoms but its not just just an uninstall glitch. Happens on installation too. Something about how the game tries to install the patch before the game files and it messes everything up.

Don't all you have to do is disconnect from the internet, install the game, than connect to internet and install the patch.

I read this a while back and that's why I never bought the game until now. I thought the game would be fixed by now.

Or you can just cancel out of the update it tries to d/l and install when you start the game the first time, then let it install, quit, re-start and let the update d/l and install.

I have an annoying corrupt data file for this game that won't go away. Bought it again for free but keeping it unopened, passed the game on easy with the shapshooter, good times.

in order to get rid of the file, you simply need to try and delete it and let it run. Put your ps3 on before bed and start the deleting process; it'll be gone when you wake up. Worked for me, at least.
