Got JD3 as a cheap gift for a friend who wants to try out that experience.. star trek.. eh.. never been for me and the reviews are abysmal.

Not sure what to make of the reviews for Star Trek. Is it a "Don't pay $60 but it's a solid game for $10" type experience, or is it truly horrible and a waste of time at any price?

I'd say any game is worth buying at $5.
I'm of that mindset as well for the most part... Almost anything can be traded back to Amazon for a dollar or two, so if I don't like it I'm out the price of a soda basically. And I do really like the new Star Trek films. Gonna pick it up I guess.

Thanks for the advice. I just ordered the Xbox 360 version to ship to my store for $2.13 with tax included thanks to a $5 certificate they e-mailed me. I'm not sure BestBuy will put any good games for sale at a super cheap price between now and January 25th so I figured this was the safe bet for now. Knowing my luck, they might have some cheap good games on sale soon. Oh well :wall:

Buy games because you want them not just to flip them, were here to find cheap games, not to profit.
Relax... I am sure more than a few people want to play this game and not keep it in their collection forever. Flipping this game is essentially getting a free rental and I believe that flipping games is something that comes with being a cheapassgamer. It allows you to keep playing games with minimal investment. Hoarding is the problem, not flipping...

Have you guys actually played it or just abiding what other people and reviewers are saying?

This is like Angry Video Game Nerd wannabes in here whereas no one actually played the game.

Anyways, thanks OP, I'll be picking up the PS3 version later tonight for $6 and change.

Bought a copy of Star Trek for 360 using their Ship-To-Store option.

I don't have GCU so my total was like $7.62?  I had store credit though so not a problem.

I've been wanting to play this game.  Reviews I've seen are so mixed I feel I owe it to try it out myself.

Thanks, just got it for $5.59 instore pickup. I redbox'd it a couple of months ago and it plays like a low budget Gears of War with a bit of weapon upgrading possible. Gameplay and controls are on the sloppy side. Passed on the Gamefly price of 7.99, but this price seems ok to have a new game to play with my girlfriend who loves ST.

So any chance this is going to start the insane best buy sales like we had last year?

I'm looking forward to playing ST. I'd be wanting it for a while but just hadn't pulled the trigger

How did you get the GCU to work for an online purchase, it didnt register on mine when I ordered the Star Trek copy for in store pickup?

Forget all that noise...check out the deal on the homepage right now!:

Wow can we price match at Walgreens? :)

Did they extend everyone's GCU until February? Also I received a coupon in the mail to extend my membership for 2 years for $30. To me this is odd because I let my subscription run out in June.

I'm still seeing $49.99 on the homepage.  It is, of course, $499.99 on the product page and when you add it to your cart.  They do have a decent deal on the XB1 right now...a bundle with 12 months of XBL for $530, and it's in stock.

Looks like cod ghost DOD but I can't get a price anyone?
As a CoD fan since the release of the original on PC, and owning every single game in the franchise on release day...this is the first time I've stayed away from a CoD game for various reasons. Much of it due to the sheer lies regurgitated by current IW Executive Producer Mark Rubin. Make no mistake, IW is not the same...in name only. It's the people that make up a talented collective. And the vast majority of the true IW talent are now at Respawn. What remains are the shallow lackeys that do Bobby Kotick's shady bidding.

That being said...I don't see this being on sale for less than $39.99. Still not worth it. I say, if you must, wait for $30 or less. Which will not take long as this game is a catastrophe on many, many levels. In fact, the better route would be to buy it for dirt cheap used via a Gamefly sale. That way IW, and especially Activision, will not see an extra penny. Sorry, I take it personal when a certain no-talented individual (unless glutonous greed is now considered a talent) doesn't care about this industry or its customers gives himself an 800% raise last year.

On mobile it shows $499 on the homepage, but I am seeing $49 on the homepage on my laptop.

Honestly your half right... But the other half is the community is shit. Camping every where even on rushing game modes. To be honest ghost is better than blops 2

That isn't a player issue though. Players camping consistently is a core gameplay design and level design issue, specifically. Ghosts' MP maps are too spread out for its core type of gameplay. Most likely to appease customers that tout BF's large maps to cater to that demographic. But they failed on numerous levels in doing so.

Not to say camping wasn't around in past CoD games, even CoD 1, United Offensive, and CoD 2. Those games had wider, spread out maps too...which were fantastic...especially United Offensive. The difference is that the hold-me-by-the-hand perks, UAV-style minimaps that let you know where players were didn't exist in those games. Hence...run n' gunners, like myself, were free to do our thing if we knew the maps well.

Not so in these modern CoD games....especially Ghosts. Now you have the bigger maps (when compared to BLOPS2 especially), but the same cheesy perk system that just gets cheesier and cheesier. Theymight as well just let people run amok with aimbots and wallhack cheats...it's gotten this bad. So in Ghosts...for the cheap, weasel-like player....the full incentive is to camp. The core gameplay design, in conjunction with the level design, fully rewards that kind of player.

In other words...Ghosts lacks MP balance to a new degree. It blows. Plain and simple.

Not to mention the slew of other issues. I'll save the space here...but just go to various high-traffic forums for this game (Steam forums, Gamefaqs, official Ghosts forums, etc.) and you will find nothing but issues, upon issues, not to mention contempt for this POS of a product.

One of the most important aspects to any game, be it FPS, RPG, Strategy, Action, etc...balance should always be the cornerstone of the game design. It's not an easy thing to do, of course not. But it is vital to strive for it. The last few CoD games have lacked this....BLOPS2 being the last decent attempt...marred by it's horrid lag compensation issues on both consoles and PC. Ghosts is the worst of the bunch on just about every fundamental design aspect...and still has the same lag comp issues of BLOPS2 to boot.

There are better games out there people, made by developers who really care and publishers that are willing to back those games with the real financial means.

If Activision and Bobby Kotick really cared...after the BILLIONS they have made, yet still refuse to properly fund this franchise to even develop a new engine after all these years (still id Tech 3 under the core of its hood)....sorry but that's just plain ol' bullshit. And they are taking many, many people for suckers.

I also would like to apologize. I've been at CAG for quite some time. I never like to crap on a topic about any game...and don't appreciate when others do it. Though I don't feel like I am, I understand some may feel like I am. But those that know me know that I have no love for Bobby Kotick and his parasitic nature in this industry...to which he doesn't belong. Not to mention I used to love this franchise (still love CoD 1, UO, 2, WaW, MW1, MW2...sorta and BO), and to see it become what it is today...just....damn!

The saddest part is witnessing what they are doing to their customers and getting away with it. Not to mention profiting to such a degree it's almost inconceivable. Meanwhile, there are numerous talented developers out there...with some publishers that are willing to take the financial risk to back them...and yet they receive the short end of the stick. Maybe most gamers don't know any better. Perhaps. That doesn't make it right for publishers that do know better to take advantage of them. And that IS what they are doing.

So sad to see.

EDIT: Apparently they did go under $39.99....the sale price is $38.99. :p
