No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I

If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?

For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

Has anybody that preordered SSB to be delivered, UPS tracking info been updated? They sent me a tracking # last Wednesday but it’s never been updated, still says initiated. I just chatted with BB and they are positive it’s coming today but I have doubts.
They created my shipping label Thursday, expecting to arrive Friday. Updated Friday that it won't arrive until Monday. I'm not happy.
 
Still waiting on my Just Cause $10 Rewards. Preordered the Gold Edition and I know we need to wait like 2 weeks for points to drop but every other preorder already has, including Smash Bros.

Mine are still pending also. Weird how some are quick same day and others take so long. Also, traded back BFV for $29 to BB on monday.

Hoping JC4 drops in price soon or else it's going back. Pretty lukewarm reception and I still haven't played 3 after it had a terrible launch and was unplayable for me. Apparently this one isn't much of an improvement, so unless it gets a steep discount; not worth.

 
Unfortunately, I think I may need to return one of the items I bought using this certificate. I've never tried to return something that I bought using a reward certificate, so what happens in that event? Will I simply lose out on the amount that the certificate took off of the item? Or does that amount get returned as My Best Buy points or something?

The points would go back to your account. They say 2-3 days, but usually for me, it's about an hour.

Your points balance will go negative.
Sounds like he purchased something using reward certs. Not that he's returning something that came with rewards certificate. In this case, his point balance would not go negative.

If I cancel an item I have preordered using some certs, I imagine I will get those points back, right? I used $5 certs towards KH3 but now I have more I want to use. Doesn't look like you can change any payment details on their site.

For someone like me that have purchased a crap load of things from BestBuy in the past few weeks, how do I know I actually got my points ($10.00 cert) for SMB pre-order?

I couldn't find a way to know how my overall points came to be or if I'm missing those points.

If you cancel or return any item purchased with RZ certs they will go back into your account.

I returned a purchase that used $150 worth of certs. They screwed up and didn't post the points back. Waited 3-5 business days. Called, told I would hear back in 3-5 business days. Then got an email saying I will get the points back in 3-5 business days after the email. So far it's been 12 business days since my return, and I expect to get the points on business day 14 or 16.

As of late BestBuy is screwing people with points, and the more you buy at once, the more they can screw you by not really knowing if you are being compensated properly with every purchase, return or pre-order.

If you ever have issues with Best Buy, I've found the forums are far easier to use for a good resolution. I had a similar instance where I returned an item I'd used certs on. Waited days, called customer service, waited some more ... finally hopped on the forums, and literally within an hour my points were returned.

Lol, I'd spam them for being dicks and censoring your complaint. Nothing I hate more than a company thinking they can silence us.

Also, I hope they don't start making the GC a thing because that would make returns and price-matches even more of a pain going forward. I mean, pretty sure I'm sitting on a negative balance of points already since I had to return three different games already that came with the $10 rewards. But with a GC, a return would mean they get to keep my money until I used it (or at least I'd have to fight to return the GC even with a sealed pin); not consumer friendly at all.

 
I really believe they hope people forget so they can keep the money. Once I spend all my credit with them I wont be back. I am elite plus too for the last 5 or more years.

They are a really scummy company. If Tyrok ran it I know it would be better though.

Sorry to gripe but this isnt an isolated event for me or others. If you go to their forums you will see what I mean.

Just tried chat....and they’re idiots. They argued I had already received my points from purchase which is true except I am missing 500. Then they mentioned I had points pending but were from a different order.

They said they were adding them and ended chat. So now hopefully they show tomorrow or I’m going to have to pick a new idiot.

I attribute it to seasonal help that do not know about what the company they work for offers.

Also didn't get the $10 Smash preorder bonus I was supposed to get.  Decided to try the BB forums as I have had good luck in the past with them actually understanding what the heck I am talking about.

 
If you go there it isnt just for smash. I think it is on most games now. You should all check to make sure you didnt get screwed by best buy

Next time copy/paste the GCU policy in the price match FAQ’s. Bottom of page where you click the chat link. That always changes their tune.

They added 150 points last night from chat for SSB. I had messaged gaming support and received message this morning to call. Called in and received my 500 points no issues. They brought up the 150 but I told them it was due to the misunderstanding and the grief I gave them.

It works if it's a price drop at BB. It's always been a chore trying to convey how the price dropped when they see that we already got it at a lower price, and I imagine it's even more difficult now that GCU has been killed. Sometimes it's easier to just return/repurchase than hassle with CS but in some cases like the pre-order bonus, you can't.

The gaming BBY mods had no problem adding $10 for both Overwatch and Madden in the past where nobody was receiving their rewards. They messaged me back this morning with the elite phone number to call in and get my points. Maybe it’s a new crew or they changed policy recently.

I’d like to know this too, as during December I bought an entire sound system from them, so it’s really hard to tell what points came from what. I feel like I might still be missing the Smash Bros and Just Cause 4 credits though, as it kinda feels like I didn’t get a lot of certificates.

When I preordered that version it had the "$10 Reward Eligible" banner on it, but they did remove it before launch. Not sure why since they kept it on every other version of the game including the Switch system bundles. I guess I will have to fight for my $10 reward....

 
Do we have any pictures showing the advertisement for the 10 dollar reward points for the smash bros version that came with the controller? Anyone have a link by chance?

 
Sucks that some of you are having trouble. All I did was say I didn’t get my $10 certificate and give them my order number. 5 minutes later I got my $10 certificate.
 
Placed my order for Kingdom Hearts 3 Deluxe Edition the other day.  They shipped the little bonus keychain thing right away.  To my delight, I got Sora!   :D/

 
I was hung up on by a supervisor who would not let me speak to his superior. He just kept saying that it didnt qualify and it was a recorded line. Eventually he hung up on me when I told him I would not hang up. I never used profanity but was not friendly after my two days of dealing with this.

I called the elite plus line and they said they would make a one time exception and gave me the ten dollars. A manager is supposed to call me back on Tuesday. I already got the points credited to my account.

Honestly, all this hell isnt worth 10 dollars and I probably wont bother with best buy anymore as my gcu expired in Nov.

If any of you do this deal in the future, I strongly suggest taking a screenshot of the best buy item before you place the order. You never know when you might need it.

I just hope that I can use my reward points before they nuke my account in retaliation. It is like the mafia or something. What a shitty company.
 
I was issued my $10 certificate today for Smash.

Now, if I bought more than 1 copy (1 regular and 1 special edition), do I get more than 1 certificate?
 
My Super Smash Bros. pre-order 500 points posted to my account sometime last night.  I ordered the Special Edition with the controller, and even had to do an in-store exchange when they sent me a damaged box (shipped that way, not damaged in shipping).   Glad I didn't have to contact their CS.
