▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

Your experience differs slightly from mine as most times the points do post or show pending at time of shipping/pick up, but there have been a few cases for me where nothing was pending and the points automatically showed up around day 21 after shipping (the most recent being Super Smash Brothers Ultimate). That's why the BB Unboxed forums/customer service will usually tell you they can't do anything about it until it gets to 21 days.
Everyone's experience is the same TBH. If you pre-order a game with bonus points a month ahead of release, the points will show up day one of pickup. If you pre-order less than the 21 days ahead of release, you're thrown into the waiting period for the points which tends to be minus the days already accrued but not always. Then of course if you pre-order day one before the points are added, that can be a 50/50 tossup and is usually best to just cancel and re-order where possible to ensure a smooth transaction.

When points don't show up in scenario #1, you're already in trouble and sadly have to wait the 21 days of bullshit before you can say "HEY, I DIDN'T GET MY POINTS". I've never seen any deviation from the above and all scenarios are well documented here and from personal experience. What I can't understand is why it gets screwed up when clearly they can get it right. Sounds to me like operator error on their end.

Thats kind lf where I am tomorrow if I don’t see it show pending or something.

Granted the 25 reviews take a while too, it is what it is. I may just try to see if I can get something on the account just for peace of mind
The survey points are weird to me because I thought there was a limit each year to how many you can rack up. I don't think I've ever hit the limit lol.

I just mentioned I recently had a deviation from the norm with SSB for Switch. I preordered several months in advance, the points never showed up at shipping or shortly after and were never pending anywhere either. Around day 21 I finally got the points automatically as a separate entry in my Rewards list. So I preordered months in advance but still had to wait the full 3 weeks before they showed up automatically.

Bottom line: wait 21 days from release date and if you still don't have the points, bitch on the Best Buy Unboxed forums about the missing points. The forum will usually already have a thread going about it as most likely multiple people are affected.

Day 15 and no points. Bleh. I really don't want to have contact anyone, and hoping I won't have to wait 6 more days. I do have a chat log with a BB CS person saying my points should hit today, so maybe I will use that to force the issue.

Update, I had CS add the points, the CS rep said that it showed on their end it should have hit at 15, so that's great, ordered Sekiro.

Still nothing for me. I'll try calling the Elite/Elite Plus line tomorrow, maybe service is a little better than the regular line? (Though I doubt it lol)

Well I just got the Division 2 bonus now. Do I do anything? The rep before gave me a Customer Satisfaction point refund before. Now I just got the preorder bonus. Do I tell them they made a mistake? do I spend it?

It issued a certificate already since I have it automated to distribute at $10, I will probably up that going forward.

Not sure I am going to sweat it.

The fact you are even asking this implies you already know what you should do...

Oh wow I got my points as well! Pro tip: talk/chat to CS if you don't get your points on time instead of playing the waiting game. Just banked 1000 points because they screwed up :whistle2:

I tried. 5 different times via chat/call. Every time was told to wait the 21 days. Not everyone is so lucky as to receive free points.

Yea, this was already posted here several weeks ago. Still not sure about this game, but pre-ordered anyways.
I have faith in the game, but it’s a definite GameFly for me. I don’t think it will take more than 20 hours to finish. Im going to put in a pre order just in case reviews say it’s 20+, then it will be a nice purchase with the $10 voucher.

I remember the first game was so good I couldn't even get it to load properly on PC. I literally flushed that money down because the game was such trash code. Never again.

I pm at Target. They had an additional 5% off red card that ended yesterday so I got them for total of $20.07. Going to pick them up in an hour or so.

Is there a way to see when your GCU will expire? I usually see the expire date when I log onto MyBestBuy account, but now it just says GCU member. TIA

How do they pull up my order when returning games in-store? There was no receipt in my delivery.

Trailer inspired no confidence since it was all CGI, with maybe a 3 second clip of actual game footage. At first I wondered if it was a play it safe trailer to not overpromise, but no -- this game is coming out in seven months, not two years after Anthem premiered their lie of a "ACTUAL GAME FOOTAGE BTW" trailer. It will be a mediocre game, with reflective reviews but hey: at least it's not canceled amirite?

"Warhammer: Chaosbane" and "The Sinking City" added to Get $10 (eGift Card) w/Pre-order list.  See Wiki Post for links to the games.

Yeah cause BBY has control on giving the games the offers. Plus those are first party games from both Sony and Nintendo, they don't get $10.
Both Pokémon and Smash Ultimate offered $10 credits (even the digital version of Smash!). So, no, that's not always the case.

You do realize my post was from TWO YEARS AGO and those games were not on the list back then, nor were any first party Sony or Nintendo games. Yes time changed that, but quoting a 2 year old post trying to prove me wrong is a very silly thing to do.
