To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.
Do not forget gas price is $2.69+ per gallon .....its worth or not ??
I was going to the area already, so it was worth it for me. but yeah, gas is a bitch these days. If anybody is curious, I tried using that 10% off coupon on the front row stuff and it didn't fly. I actually got one cashier to do it manually, but the second time I tried got denied.

For every Urban Chaos you flip that someone else wanted to buy at $5, they get to rape you. Urban Chaos is a friggen awesome game.
I don't feel like reading through all 41 pages of the thread and the search function here doesn't seem to work all that well, so I don't know if this point has been made already, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents anyway.

(updated: the trade-in value for Ford bold Moves was wrong, sorry. Makes the whole thing even less worth your time.)

If anybody is looking for good trade fodder for the bonus deal at Gamestop (3 for extra 10%, 4 for extra 20%, 5 for extra 30%), its worth noting that these $4.99 Xbox front row titles have the following base GS trade-in values:

Just Cause - $7
Reservoir Dogs - $5
Urban Chaos - $5
Ford Bold Moves- $1.50 (this is new to the Front Row list btw, and is $4.99)

So, just thought I'd mention it, because if you were to go buy these for $20 + tax, you can trade them in with the bonus, stacked with Edge card at GS for $27.30 credit. It'll be slightly higher if you have a 5th game to trade it too. These are great fodder for trading (especially Just Cause) if you have a higher valued game to trade in and need more to reach the 5 total for extra 30%.
As Derrick said....just WOW. You did all that for a mere $5 in extra credit? You know how many people(including me) are looking for Just Cause(assuming it was for Xbox)and can't find the damned thing??

Plus, even though I paid $10 for my copy of Urban Chaos, it was well worth it, since as someone else said that's an awesome game.

Now, on the other hand, if you were flipping copies of something you got for a couple dollars each(at most) from GS and were flipping them to FYE or someplace that routinely gives GOOD values for trade, THEN THAT is worth bragging about.

Well, I appreciate the info because I assume any PS2 or Xbox game trades for just $1 at EB. It is a complete shock to me that Just Cause gets $7. I may use that with a few other games I have to get the full bonus at EB. Not too bad if the filler game nearly doubles in the process. So, thanks mkernan!
ive seen a few just cause xbox lying around, didnt know it was worth getting though!
When it first came out, it was touted as being 10 times the size of San Andreas, so if that gives you any idea of the SIZE of the game.

Mind you, most of it is dense jungle and pretty impassable, but that's not what makes the game FUN.

It's the stunts you can pull in it. You have a grappling hook which you can use along with a parasail to float above the canopy and get a better view of the island. While doing that though, I believe you CAN shoot, so that's a definite plus.

Also, you can jump from vehicle to vehicle, a sort of 'carjacking on the run' as it were.

Definitely an interesting sandbox/GTA clone to be sure, but I was sad to find out that my original Xbox didn't like the game and would proceed to lock up on it within 30 minutes of starting to play it. So, I had to take my copy back. I'm just glad I got it used and kept the receipt.

Honestly, I don't even have an Xbox..... so I wasn't considering keeping it regardless. And I suppose I assumed that if its was $4.99, it was bound to not be so hot anyway; guess that's what I get for assuming.

Anyway, there were extenuating circumstances in my case: had a $25 BB gift card that I got for free through the My Coke Rewards thing, I had a few other titles to trade, I did two sets of 5, one at each of my local Gamestops, for the extra 30%, stacked with the Edge 10%, and even stacked with extra 20% for reserving SMG in one instance. So, I wasn't bragging or anything, but in my specific case it was worth the extra few minutes it took (I have a BB and two GS stores all within a 2 mile radius).

And in my defesnse, I didn't hoard them all, there were still other copies of each game there still. Its the Denton, TX location if anybody is local to me. Oh, and I don't have a local FYE either. My BB also still had two copies of Harvest Moon DS at $9.99 too.

I was just happy to finagle my $25 BB card into a paid off Mario Galaxy reservation (along with trading in a couple of my own games).

What model year is your Xbox? I remember when I bought mine used from GS a year ago, it took 3 return trips to get one that worked. Most had disc read problems. I finally settled on a 2005 model and it has been OK since. The only problem I have had has been True Crime NYC, but that was just an ass game.

Oh and as far as Just Cause, the more I play it the less I like it. Sloppy movement and driving, story missions, and the quantity-over-quality gunplay are turning me off. It's worth checking out for $5 though, just because it's such a weird game.

So I had an interesting excursion to Best Buy today. Today was the last day of the 10% off coupons so I knew I was going and I had my mind set on what I wanted. The Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie, Trauma Center on the Wii, and possibly any usefull penny guides (especially one for Rogue Galaxy, even though i don't have the game... yet.)

So I walk in and go straight to the new release DVDs. No Aqua Teen. They didn't even have it listed under the past 2 weeks new releases. I can't imagine it was released 3+ weeks ago... @_@ So I walked away dejectly. Then I went to the Wii section. Nothing under the Trauma Center tag so I asked a floor guy and he checked stock. Nothing. Then I looked for any penny guides. Since they moved and redid the VG section a little after the 360 came around, the guides have went from a mess on a shelf to divided nicely by system. Nothing... Then I scoured the other areas of the store, looking for to see if anything was in the PC games and PC accessories sections. Didn't check the appliance sections, despite it being a favorite guide hiding spot. :p

Then my luck changed for the better. I saw my friend and we talked for a bit. Then while looking more, I found King of Fighters 2006 lowered to $14.99. Though there was no price tag on it and it rang up $29.99 so I had to get the divider tag while I was paying so the guy could override... Then I look around some more. Found the Aqua Teen movie in the comedy section. Then I'm read to go on line when I see a Just Cause for $4.99 staring me in the face in that checkout line cubicle. I grabbed it so fast, if anyone saw me, they'd probably think I was gonna steal it.

So yeah. Front lane. Just Cause. $5. Xbox. Found. I also noticed the Dragon Ball (notice lack of Z or GT) game for the GBA for $9.99. I didn't really pay attention to anything else. ^_^;;;;

Wow, are Just Cause and this Urban Chaos game really hot items? The new Best Buy near me that finally got a frontlane display has loads of copies. It doesn't look like they've moved a single copy in 2 weeks. Well, except for the Just Cause I used for padding my EB trades. By the way, it was well worth it as I managed to get the 30% stacked with 20% preorder bonus and 10% edge. Plus the guy screwed up and gave me even more. I ended up getting $12 for it alone .

Same ol' same ol' on the PSP games - Gunpey, Pac-Man World Rally, and Ape Escape Academy. I did manage to use the $5 off coupons again though. Man, those things are amazing (if you get a clerk that doesn't read the expiration date). Since I also used my $10 Entertainment certificate, I can return Pac-Man and Ape Escape on older receipts (when I paid $5) and have copies to keep for $1.66 each (also the price of the Just Cause).

Are Urban Chaos (Xbox) and Just Cause (Xbox) in that much demand? I saw stacks of them just yesterday and picked up an Urban Chaos for myself. I can go back and pick some up for sale or trade if anyone needs them.

Since almost my entire game collection was just stolen, please disregard my trade list for now.

I bought it brand new from BB in 2005, but I'm not even 100% sure it was a model from that year. Plus, I swapped out the one I bought about 3-4 days later because of the locking up and issues with San Andreas(when I went into an R3 or X button on Xbox mission, the game would seemingly STOP, then start back up once the side mission started).

But, since I already played SA on PS2, I'm not even sure WHY I got it for Xbox. LOL I guess I just like duplicating my game library.

Either way, I'm still looking for a copy, since even further away BB's don't have it on Xbox(took some family members gambling in NY state on Sunday, hit a couple malls n 2 BB's, no luck on guides or anything).

I know a CAG from on here who found a couple copies and bought one to put aside for me, so I'm covered, but it definitely WAS a fun game from what I played of it, just wish it wouldn't take so long to drop @ Kmart or I'd buy it there easily.

Urban Chaos at least I don't think is in massive demand. It is not all that rare: any GS will have them. Not a lot of people have heard of it, though. Truly a superb FPS, but an underdog, one that sounds so generic it flies under the radar.

I wouldn't hoarde them unless you can actually line up deals, though.

When I first heard the term Urban Chaos, I thought of the PS1 game from a long while ago. It was completely craptacular, as it had no realism level to it whatsoever. Your character would fall from a 20 story building and sustain NO health damages whatsoever.

It was a glitchy port of a PC game, from what I remember. Very horrid indeed. Now, the new Urban Chaos game on PS2/XBox is well worth the $$$ imo.

Spotted tonight at the local BB in the front lane games, appropriately tagged with front and back stickers: Kingdom of Paradise for PSP. Once again: $9.99.

I didn't buy it because RPGs make me shiver with boredom, but it's not in the OP, so I thought I'd chime in.

Just Cause and Urban Chaos used to be pretty hard to find at the Best Buys around me, but recently they've all seemingly got a ton of them.

Still no Ratchet and Clanks, though.
Still no Ratchet and Clanks, though.
No, I haven't seen any either, and I don't expect to. I think that it was a legitimate fluke on the part of the company that distributes these games to BB, and we're not likely to see R&C in the front lanes again, or at the very least, not any time soon. I'm happy for the folks who were able to take advantage of it, but I'm not holding my breath that I'll see them in the Detroit area any time soon.
Grabbed Outrun for PSP today. I think its worth $10
Wish it would stinking boot on mine. Bought it at BB with the coupon for $5, and it won't load. Guess I need to get some different firmware.
Just a heads up for any flippers. Urban Chaos' trade in value at FYE was knocked down to $5.
luckily i checked second spin before i tore off the plastic of mines yesterday. Lord forbid i actually play the game lol. nice headsup bezerker

man someone took all 6 copies of pac man rally for PSP in fort wayne. Ended up grabbing Kingdom of par. Already had it years ago and sold it, but for 5 bucks is a nice game to have in collection

Blockbuster gives 7 bucks credit for it

I scored 2 PSP for $5 each after $5 off coupon (Lord of the Rings: Tactics (PSP) & Pursuit Force (PSP) and Star Wars: Episode 3 (XBOX) $5. I'm pretty happy with my hunted today :)

I heard some BB had Hot Shots Golf PSP for $10. Went to the one in Germantown, MD it was still scanning at $19.99. None of the other Front Row games I saw were any good.

man, i visited a BestBuy this evening and they don't have new titles. the usual suspects like Urban Chaos and Just Cause are the ones decently stocked. i remember when I try to hunt these two titles, but now you can easily get them. LOL!!!

I went tonight and it was packed. Really nothing worth mentioning though..I did see some Wii games..that cel shaded fighter Legend of the Dragon? It was 19.99..I passed. Also saw Killzone Liberation PSP 14.99..passed.

Saw three new front-row PSP games today:

Coded Arms (PSP) - $14.99
Killzone: Liberation (PSP) - $14.99
Twisted Metal: Head-On (PSP) - $14.99

With that $5 off coupon, I picked up both Killzone and TM for $20 total ;)

So Killzone is F.L. or is it some sort of Syphon Filter style deal, where it was priced 14.99 in the PSP section?
So Killzone is F.L. or is it some sort of Syphon Filter style deal, where it was priced 14.99 in the PSP section?
It's a front-lane game with a large white sticker reading "$14.99". This is not a regular BB mark-down.

Ok thanks for the clarification. Time to hunt!

So BB may be going the way of Sears and KMart by carrying 14.99 Front Lane games? Just as Sears and KMart 14.99 FL games start getting cut to 11.99? I guess even in retail the grass is always greener on the other side. . .
condemned 19.99 and some poker game for 360/wii 19.99
With a price of 19.99, these don't sound like front row games to me. Were these white stickered or are you just posting these because they're cheap? If it's the latter, they don't belong in this thread.

Hmm. This is the first I've heard of it, I haven't seen it myself, and it's not in the OP, deathscythehe. I wasn't aware that these were being "front laned."

Please tell me you're joking. I've lost my ability to tell in this thread anymore.
I guess the title being Front Row Games wasn't enough for some people :p

Sorry; not joking. They're still not listed in the OP (*none* of those PSP games are listed in the op), and there isn't any listing in the OP for $14.99 front lane games at BB. Go ahead and check...I'll wait. They're not there.

I'm almost sure that I've read this thread front-to-back (though it's been a while), and never saw anything about the specific games in question being front lane games.
