To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.

Urban Chaos is ridiculously awesome, I love that freakin' game. I couldn't find it anywhere below $40, caved and got it for $15 shipped via Gamefly.. now it's 4.99 used. sigh.

I need to go back and pick up Just Cause, even though I have the 360 version of it. I did pick up Reservoir Dogs, i've been waiting for that one to drop down for a while.

Saw some front row games yesterday I hadn't seen before.

R-Type Final (PS2) $9.99
Samurai Warriors (PS2) $9.99

Not really that great of deals since they could be had for that price before, but it's always interesting when different front row games pop up and makes you wonder what else they're digging up.

Quite a few of the games on the Front Row list are on the $1.99 clearance from back in February. Cant imagine why they wouldnt still be 1.99, you just gotta make them scan the barcode underneath the front row sticker.

I picked up Reservoir Dogs and Urban Chaos. Funny thing: the cashier didn't even know that UC was that low. So he asked me where I got it from and if there were any more. I confirmed so after he helped me, he closed his lane to grab the last one for himself.

Found Serious Sam II but we were in a hurry. No urban chaos or R&C . The New Orleans BBs are always so damn empty...NOTHING is EVER on sale.

You just aren't understanding this, are you?
You just aren't understanding this, are you?
What are you referring to? That Best Buy likes to bait & switch by clearancing out games then putting special barcodes on them to not allow people to get the clearance price? I understand it just fine.

For anyone looking to make some $, FYE (or any other Transworld store) pays $10 cash or $12.50 credit for Urban Chaos.

No, you don't understand. The front row games don't come from Best Buy. They come from a different place! Best Buy is not taking their own games and putting different bar codes on them. Read the FIRST POST!!!!!!!!!:bomb: :bomb:

I know they are considered two seperate beings, If you have them search the sku for the game it'll show as 0 qty since its technically 'front row X'. But it doesnt mean they cant still take the barcode off and scan the one for the game itself to get the $1.99 price.

#-oYou are completely missing the point. When you buy a front row game you're not buying it from Best Buy's inventory. You're buying from whatever company that supplies the front row games. It's the same reason you can't get R&C Size Matters for $9.99 from BB. :wall:

got Riddick for xbox for $5. my best buy had all $9.99 and $14.99 games at $5 price point. I'm assuming this might be YMMV.

Is Riddick compatible with 360?

How am i missing the point when ive stated it in my topics. Just because you say it isnt Best Buy who supplies the games doesnt mean that you arent inside Best Buy, buying from Best Buy employees who are using Best Buy POS's. Therefore you can still get Best Buy's clearance price by having them take off the barcode.

Another other things you'd like to mention again, like how the games dont come from Best Buy. To save you the trouble... We know... Maybe you should recommend the op to change the title from Best Buy Front Row to just Front row if the sales have nothing to do with Best Buy.

Most BB stores won't let you remove the tag covering the barcode because they're not supposed to. It's not their merchandise so they can't, or I guess I should say shouldn't (since they physically can remove the sticker) tamper with it.

Dude...just give it up. :dunce: It's a viscious circle at this point...although, it is amusing, that despite the breadth of the first post now, this still comes up. heheh

Please stop making these meaningless posts with your conspiracy theories. This is already your second attempt at steering this thread into a Best Buy bitchoff. If you have nothing to contribute but bitching, then don't post. You're bait and switch conspiracy theory is flatout wong, and is based in some fantasy world logic. Best buy, along with Sears and other stores, buy these games from another company which prices them. You can complain all you want about how best buy is releasing clearance lists then restickering the items to catch us poor cags, but that doesn't make any more based in reality then it was a few months ago.

On a better note, OP updated with some more games, which amazingly aren't from a Best Buy clearance.

I bought Rave Master for the GBA yesteday & tried to use the gamepro coupon. It scanned but it wouldnt discounted it without the managers approval. She came saw the coupon & okayed it. Is this how they do it now with the gamepro coupons???

That's correct. At this point, it's really just between luck and cashier negligence as to whether you can get these coupons to work or not.

Well, except there is no coupon for GBA is there? At least the last few sets didn't have them. It is luck getting the cashier to scan them, but it should be automatic if it is a PS2/PSP/PS3/DS/Wii/360 game, unless things have changed in the last couple of days.

But I would imagine the manager's approval was required because you used a DS/Wii coupon or something? That would be extreme YMMV - any time the manager has to look at it they are likely to reject it for any number of reasons (and lots of valid ones in this case! ;)).

Oops I think ur right that there was no GBA coupon from the last sets. Thats the one I used and also a Gamecube coupon to boot (yeath I know). That might have been the problem since I used a PS3/PSP coupon last week w/o any problems. I just figured I'd use it since they all expired already and didnt see the diference. Point of the story is that GBA/Gamecube coupons still work but w/ managers approval and all other coupons should be automatic.
Two new additions:

(PS2) 9.99 - Arc the Lad: End of Darkness
(PS2) 9.99 - The Suffering: Ties That Bind

After coupons, 10.68 total I think?
I know this is kind of off topic but does anyone know how that Arc the Lad: EOD game is? I loved the other PS2 ARc game and I already know this one is not the same way...

Reviews were crappy.
Reviews were crappy.
yeah but honestly who goes by reviews anymore? Unless it is a super huge title that is hyped for 2 years before it is released it gets beat up be reviews.. Just look at lately ever since PS2 is considered last gen the reviews have went down for most of the games.. The worst case of reviews due to hype has to be The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess... That game got game of the years awards, etc before it was even out and personally I did not feel the game was as great as it was hyped to be....
yeah but honestly who goes by reviews anymore?
I find reviews are most useful for mechanical issues: does the camera make it unplayable, are there bugs or glitches, is it repetitive, how does it compare to similar games -- that sort of thing. There are certain things I look for in reviews that are dealbreakers, and help me avoid games that I'm pretty sure I'll end up hating.

And Zelda is always overrated.
Just look at lately ever since PS2 is considered last gen the reviews have went down for most of the games..
Odin Sphere? Grim Grimoire? Persona 3? God of War 2? Hot Shots Tennis? Tomb Raider Anniversary? I don't think that the reveiws for last gen games are going down. It's just that companies want to bring their best series's to the newest stage. But goods games made on the PS2 are still getting their due.
yeah but honestly who goes by reviews anymore?
Uhhh...me? I find more often than not if the majority of reviewers crush a game, then yeah, it's bad. I don't go just by any one publication, though. I check compliation sites like Metacritic, which help balance out the biased reviews with the serious. Certain sites like Gamespot and IGN are very thorough, and I trust them more than others. And my Game Informer subscription is nice.

I've been disappointed by enough bad games that I want to avoid that feeling again.
yeah but honestly who goes by reviews anymore?
When it comes to Arc the Lad, go by the reviews. It stunk.

I don't feel like reading through all 41 pages of the thread and the search function here doesn't seem to work all that well, so I don't know if this point has been made already, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents anyway.

(updated: the trade-in value for Ford bold Moves was wrong, sorry. Makes the whole thing even less worth your time.)

If anybody is looking for good trade fodder for the bonus deal at Gamestop (3 for extra 10%, 4 for extra 20%, 5 for extra 30%), its worth noting that these $4.99 Xbox front row titles have the following base GS trade-in values:

Just Cause - $7
Reservoir Dogs - $5
Urban Chaos - $5
Ford Bold Moves- $1.50 (this is new to the Front Row list btw, and is $4.99)

So, just thought I'd mention it, because if you were to go buy these for $20 + tax, you can trade them in with the bonus, stacked with Edge card at GS for $27.30 credit. It'll be slightly higher if you have a 5th game to trade it too. These are great fodder for trading (especially Just Cause) if you have a higher valued game to trade in and need more to reach the 5 total for extra 30%.

So all that for a potential roughly $5 profit in credit from flipping.... lol

Yeah, I admit, it is a big pain in the butt for little return.... but like I said, if you want to boost the return of a higher-valued game you're gonna ditch, then it's a little more worthwhile.

(I had a BB gift card, so that was the impetus for my excursion.)

I think the idea was to put a higher valued 5th game with it to garner the full 30% and then 30% on your 5th game... that in itself could bring you a nice little profit in this new EB era.

Possibly seeing that 30 would be 40% with the edge card but unless the two stores are next to each other and possibly having to go to more than one BB to find them is the gas all that worth it?>

To each his own

I just updated my previous post about trading in some front row titles.... the trade in value for the Ford Bold Moves game was wrong. I had called a GS and gotten the qoute of $4 over the phone, but it looks like it actually trades in for $1.50. Oh well. I guess if you buy the other three, and have *two* higher-valued ones to trade in, it still might be worth it. Sorry.

Very true. I found all the titles in one BB luckily,I had a $25 BB gift card, and my BB and GS are across the street from each other. So, in my case it was worth the slight hassle to get a little bit better bang for the buck out of it. I stacked Edge with the extra 30% for trading 5 games, plus the GS associate was nice enough to manually tack on an extra 20% for pre-ordering Mario Galaxy; so essentially an extra 60% overall.

But yes, definitely alot of circumstance involved and ymmv-ness to it all.
