To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.
No go for Street Fighter Anthology (PS2) and Locl Roco (PSP) both rangup full price. Ouch..... what a trip. Aslo, i see couple Donkey Kong NES Classic but not sure how much it cost ?? Atleast i scored Klonoa 2 (GBA) for $5.
It sounds like BB pulled some titles out of clearance back to the MSRP shelf.
Yeah, but unlike the batch last year, these coupons do not work on $4.99 and below games. They have to override with a manual adjustment to $0, and that is highly unlikely...
I tried hard to get the word out, but looks like it didn't work. Here I go again...the 5 off coupons WILL make 4.99 games FREE! I know we have had trouble in the past before, but the last 5off batch worked fine. I was able to get virtua tennis and urban reign for free. No manaul adjustment, it wa automatic! I just brought a good amount of things that made it more unoticeable. I have the receipts to prove this.

Again, YOU CAN GET FREE GAMES!

Is this the very latest batch (the ones that expire end of April)? I haven't tried those yet. I was using either the March ones or the ones before that (that didn't work automatically). I haven't even tried recently but I will print the newest ones and give it a shot. Would these have worked on the last clearance games (the latest coupons weren't valid then)? That would have been nice to know ;).

Sounds like you are saying the last 5 off batch. Well, since those haven't been needed yet I haven't even printed them. I will start using those from now on and give it a shot!

I used thed the batch that was good on during the big bb clearence. I know theres a new batch now, I haven't tried these yet, but may tomorrow.

I bet you tried using the older batch because I did the same thing as well and failed...See When I went to use the batch after the failing batch, I never intended to get the free game. It was by mistake. I thought VT was 9.99 so as I went to use the coupon thinking I would then get it for 4.99, it came out to be free because it was originally 4.99.

It could be that I never tried the Feb/Mar ones because the ones before that didn't work. I figured they "fixed" that loophole from last year and would never imagine the newer coupons would allow it .

Oh well, I'm not really sure there's that much at $4.99 at this point that I'd want to get, even for free (though it would have been nice when the clearance stuff was still around).

I do know that during the sale I bought a $9.99 PS2 game and $4.99 PS2 game and the coupon applied to the $9.99 one. Had it, by chance, applied to the $4.99 one instead, I would have been clued into that and could have taken advantage of it at the time. Oh well...

Yeah, theres nothing too great @ 4.99, but after hearing all this restocking talk, it might be worth it to check out it again. And besides, someone needs to test the new coupon.
Do we have a more complete list of games that are on sale at BB? Specifically, a list of all of the $5 and $10 games would be nice. :)
The titles vary WILDLY by store, so, odds are good, no.

Ok, I can't find a thread about it, but i'm going to the US tomorrow, so how does the Gamer Gift Card work? I think I've got the idea for it, but can somebody lay it out for me. Say if I wanted to buy 5 games, would I buy 5 gift cards? Thanks in advance.
The titles vary WILDLY by store, so, odds are good, no.
Well, no, the front register goodies tend to be pretty consistent (as opposed to the clearance stuff which varied wildly from the start and is hard to find now anyway). I mean, I see One Piece Pirate's Carnival for PS2 at every store. There's a few others too. Actually, I think some of those games are $4.99 (not One Piece, that's $9.99)and they are prominently tagged. I'll have to try a coupon on one tomorrow ;). I'll try to write down everything I see there.

I beg to differ. We see a few consistencies (One Piece, Sudoku, and a couple others), but between the four stores I visit, the rarer stuff was different. One store had Advance Guardian Heroes, one had 007:EoN and 007:FRWL, one store had Urban Reign. Anything that is worth having is not going to be guaranteed.

Well, of course nothing is guaranteed, but it is nice to have a list to know what the possibilities are. The front-lane stuff is more common than clearance stuff in any case. I'm going to list what I see tomorrow.
trapt was 9.99
This is on clearance rather than a front row game, right?

Kevzik is right about the 4.99 games becoming free with the coupons. Picked up Backyard Football for GBA and One Piece Grand Adventure (PS2, was one of the frontlane games) for free. No problem with the register at all. She scanned it and at the end of the order it took off 4.99 on each game. This was with the newest coupons available on CAG (the ones that activated 3/12). Thanks CAG scored two more game to add to the backlog.

I saw the following for 4.99:

Star Ocean (PS2)
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones (PS2)
Midnight Club 3 (Xbox)
Mercenaries (Xbox)
Open Season (Xbox)

Got the two PS2 games.

Thanks for the confirmation my friend :applause:

Told ya!

Yep, I can verify it too - I finally saw your original post kevzik. It was in one of the multiple CAG coupon threads. One in which I didn't happen to be subscribed ;).

Anyway, I had my 4 year-old with me so I couldn't write down what I saw, but I was able to snag GC One Piece Grand Adventure so thanks to whoever pointed that one out.

Then I got Pinball HoF and Future Tactics for free. $4.99 total for all 3. Stupid me, I printed a TON of coupons but only had one GC one with me so I had to pass on One Piece Pirate's Carnival. Interesting that the GC version is there now - I had only seen the PS2 one before. D'oh! I just realized something - I should have handed her another PS2 coupon as that is something that I noticed during the clearance sale - you don't have to have the right coupon for each game (I had gotten $5 off a 360 game with a GC coupon before). Damn, why did I just remember that now? It works as long as the cashier isn't too observant.

Funny thing is with only the 3 coupons it rang up $14.99 and I said I wanted to remove one of the $9.99 games. She said it wouldn't make any difference as it would be $15 off anyway. OK... After going round and round with her a few times I insisted I didn't want that one $9.99 game. Of course, it rang up $4.99 total after that - WTF was she thinking?

They have a ton of Xbox games marked $4.99 but of course there's no coupon for that. (I wonder if you can use any coupon though??). For PS2 I saw Nanobreaker and Blackhawk Down for $9.99. There were several $9.99 GBA games. One crappy $9.99 PSP game (Detroit Hustle I think). I know in the past I've seen Exit for PSP up there. I will make another trip to a different Best Buy and see what they have tomorrow or Sunday.

We really should have a list in the OP.

And as for which versions of the coupons work - doesn't matter if you have the newest (expires end of April) or the slightly older ones (end of March). If you compare them they have the EXACT SAME UPC's. It was the previous $5 off any game coupon that didn't work on $4.99 games.

EDIT - Just looking at my receipt, it is clear the coupons don't need to match the systems for the games. My GC coupon got applied to one of the $4.99 PS2 games and the GC game got discounted to $4.99 with a PS2 coupon.

I already have a short list, but that's mainly because I haven't seen much of a concensus on many more games. The few I have seen regularly seem to be crap games like the Casino games that I don't think warrant being listed. Alot of the 9.99 games I've seen listed also aren't front row games, atleast not at the stores I've been too. Fire Emblem and Guardian Heroes were both with the original clearance games at every store I've been to(about 8).
I was at my Best Buy earlier this morning and there were a lot of games there, but when I went there in the afternoon about an hour ago, a ton of games were pulled out... either someone went on a game buying rampage or something is going on.
Ya sorry about that MUHAHAHAHA.

Well, you can add Pinball Hall of Fame for $4.99 to the list (PS2). And Blackhawk Down for $9.99 (also PS2). Also, One Piece Pirate's Carnival is $9.99 (not $4.99) for PS2 - I've bought several over the past few weeks ;). And I haven't seen it recently, but Exit for PSP is $9.99. I might head up to another store tonight and this time I'll make a list. I think it's worth listing EVERY $4.99 game, no matter how crappy, as they can be had for free after coupon.

Nice work io. You would think more cags would be posting like crazy once finding out you can get games for free...it seems its just me, you, and a few other CAG that know about this...odd.

I remeber seeing ant bully and spyro heros tailfor gc @9.99 a while back (retagged). I also forgot about picking up a magic the gathering xbox game @4.99 - so that could end up being free, but at the time of my purcahse, I just paid the 5 bucks.

I really need to make a trip out to bb, but might wait till the 20th since rocky comes out then...hmmm.

Yeah, it is... Oh well, just means more for us and less likelihood of Best Buy closing that loophole any time soon (since it isn't being done en masse). We'll see. I'm heading out in a bit ;).

Saw a Rave Master game for GameCube. What was odd was that it was on the shelf like an ordinary game, with the white shelf tag behind it saying it was $9.99, yet it had a BB sticker on the game case saying it was $14.99.

I saw exactly the same thing a few weeks ago - it rings up $9.99; $4.99 after coupon of course ;). I've been eyeing that at Fry's for a long time as that's the only place I had ever seen it. I was very surprised to see it at Best Buy so I snagged it.

That is technically not one of the frontlane games because there is no sticker over the original UPC and it doesn't scan as "Frontlane", though it is a great pickup for $9.99.

Yeah, I kind of consider the "frontlane" games and ones stickered with the little Best Buy logo shaped $9.99 and $14.99 stickers to be the same thing. Though you are right, the latter don't often have stickers over the UPC. Part of the reason I dont' differentiate between them is that the Best Buy I usually go to has them mixed in with the regular games with only a few actually up front (eg, all the One Piece Pirate's Carnival for PS2 were just with the rest of the PS2 games).

Anyway, here's what I wrote down from another BB tonight. This one had WAY more than they one I went to yesterday.

$4.99 :ps2: games:
Duel Masters
Hard Rock Casino
High Rollers Casino
Mojo (frontlane)
Motocross Mania 3
Pro Bass Challenge
Puzzle Challenge (frontlane)
Strike Force Bowling (frontlane)
Super Trucks
Suzuki Superbikes
Tokyo Xtreme Racing

$4.99 :xbox: games:
World Championship Poker 2

$9.99 :ps2: games:
Enthusia
Genji
Hobbitt
Kill.Switch
Rogue Ops
Sega Classics Collection ($1.99 if you can find it w/o the UPC sticker)
Timesplitters Future Perfect
Veggie Tales
World Championship Poker All In

$9.99 :gc: games:
007 From Russia With Love
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Madden '05
Rave Master
Simpson's Hit & Run
Ty 2 (frontlane)

There's a ton of $9.99 GBA games and it looks like they got restocked with FE: Sacred Stones.

I made 2 transactions. First one was Rave Master, 2 x Puzzle Challenge, and Mojo: total $4.99. Second was a printer ink cartridge + Pinball HoF: total whatever the ink cartridge was ;).

So $4.99 total for 5 games. The cashiers were all excited that the coupons made the games free. No problems whatsoever, though I wasn't gutsy enough to try to walk out with them for free - thus I bought the non-free game and the ink cartridge (which I can expense to my company;)).

I think it would be worth updating the OP with any here that aren't already in it. Even though some of these aren't frontlane games it might be useful info for people to look for.

There were many other cheap PS2 racing games that were $4.99 or $9.99 - I ran out of space on my post-it note. I definitely think it is worth getting Genji and Simpsons Hit & Run for $4.99. And, as crpapy as those $4.99 games may be, you can't beat the price after coupon . I might try out the Puzzle Challenge soon and am actually tempted to pick up the Pro Bass game just to see what the hell a fishing game is like. Same for some of the cheap racing games. And maybe I'll finally get myself a Strike Force Bowling to keep (I always used them before as trade-in fodder).

I would definitely recommend bringing at least one PS2 coupon with you every time you go to Best Buy to buy something else. If you can't find any of the other $4.99 games, you can get a Jampack for free - either for the demos or simply for the new case.
$9.99 :gc: games:
Madden '05
This one is still $1.99 at my Best Buy, even with the UPC sticker.
This one is still $1.99 at my Best Buy, even with the UPC sticker.
I didn't even look to see if it had a sticker or not - that was the shelf tag price. Had I known it was $1.99, I would have snagged it for sure ;). Oh well, with a $10 price tag I'm sure it will still be there in a few days.
Thanks for the confirmation my friend :applause:

Told ya!
OK I give. Where is the coupon? Thanks io and Kevzik

never mind... I found it. Thanks.

Thanks to the OP for bringing the fact that Grand Adventure went down to $9.99 to my attention, I probably would've passed it by without looking thinking it was Pirate's Carnival. If only I could find the GBA OP game now...

And I'm not sure when it happened (probably at the last clearance when Rave Master and some others dropped $5 more) but it might be worth pointing out that RE Outbreak File #2 dropped from $19.99 to $14.99. Seemed like an OK deal at $9.99 w/ a $5 off coupon.
Simpsons Hit & Run (GC) $10 or $5 after coupon. IT's worth $5 for this game??
Absolutely. It is a great game. I hear it is like GTA in structure and gameplay, but of course with Simpson's characters ;). I've never played GTA so I'll take their word for it. But I loved this game, anyway.

Funny thing is that I got it at Best Buy for $5 about 2 years ago when they had one of their unadvertized clearance/price drops. Of course, that was back when it didn't spread like wildfire all over the Internet.

Fairtrade - I agree completely. Besides kevzik's info about the coupons working on $4.99 games, the best piece of info in this thread was the One Piece Grand Adventure info. I found one copy buried behind a bunch of One Piece Pirate's Carnival and would never have even looked for it had I not read this thread. This is why I think all the cheap games at Best Buy deserve their own thread and list in the OP. I'm sure there are other things people would snag if they knew about them. And despite the fact that the clearance list made all the other deal sites, it seems the coupons are still a CAG state secret. That makes many of these $9.99 games much more appealing - the FW and SD people aren't buying them to sell (because they aren't worth that much) so they stick around for us to get via coupon.

So, is the consensus that One Piece Grand Adventure is probably worth the money, but Pirate's Carnival isn't? I picked up Grand Adventure a couple days ago but haven't opened it, and saw Pirate's Carnival today at a different BB but it just looked like pretty blah minigames, so left it...

I dunno - I got One Piece Pirate's Carnival (GC version) for $5 at Target when they had it on clearance, and I've kept it so far. I'm not sure when I'll play either, but at just $5 a piece they can sit in the backlog until I decide ;). I have to say I'd probably be more inclined to break out Adventure first, though.

Here are the metacritic scores:

Grand Adventure: 70/100
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/cube/onepiecegrandadventure

Pirate's Carnival: 49/100
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/cube/onepiecepiratescarnival

So it seems pretty obvious from there that Grand Adventure is the better game. Sounds like Pirate's Carnival is a weak Mario Party clone. If you like the party games (they can be fun with my kids) then it is probably an OK purchase, especially at this price. Keep in mind most of those reviews are written with the game costing $40 in mind ;).

I had forgotten that there was also the One Piece Grand Battle game and I think I remember reading Grand Adventure is an improvement over that. So I'm actually kind of excited about GA - maybe I'll break that out sooner than I thought.

Best value I've gotten in recent months was the $1.99 copy of Shrek SuperSlam from Best Buy. Both me and my kids have put a ton of time into that (me only when they get stuck trying to unlock something).

Just a heads up.

The Anderson, SC store has absolutely nothing on clearance at the moment. They used to have a table full of stuff but I checked in yesterday and they had nothing. I even asked.

Furthermore, this store has pulled all GGCs from the shelves. You can't find one anywhere. Unless they are all expired or something, then this store will be the second one I know of that pulled all GGCs and will not explain why. Greenville did it for about a year, although they brought them back finally.

Being a One Piece fan, I can tell you that Grand Adventure is a worthy purchase. I had paid full price for the game when it came out and I still think it's enjoyable. This is basically the game they should have released instead of Grand Battle (which is basically a cut down and censored version due to several portions taking place much further than the dub was at the time).

Pirate's Carnival is basically a poor man's Sonic Shuffle. Both games suck, but PC is even worse. The voice acting doesn't help a bit and it's a good thing that 4Kids never reaches the later arcs that the game features. The mini-games aren't that fun, either.

On one note, I'd recommend getting GA on GameCube instead of the PS2. GameCube version has virtually no loading screens (whereas the PS2 version does) and the controls feel more like they've been designed to work for the GameCube controller. But if you can't find it for the Cube, grab it for the PS2.

Lastly, Simpson's Hit & Run is one of those rare licensed games. What do I mean? One of those licensed games that's actually very good and fun to play. That's kinda rare with licensed games. It's similar to a GTA game, but it's more among the lines of being in the same style while not completely ripping it off. Plus the story and gags also make it worth it. I picked it up at Circuit City since it's $13.99 there, but it's even more worth picking it up for the price it is at Best Buy. :)

Justice League Heroes (PS2) was at my BB for 20$ (15$ with coupon of course). They also had $9.99 Fire Emblem Sacred Stones (GBA), $9.99 Titan Quest (PC), and $7.50 Metal Gear Acid 2 (PSP).

I think there were a lot of decent 360 games at 50% off as well.

Justice League Heroes dropped to $20? Wow, might have to get that.... and I've been trying not to think about getting Simpsons Hit and Run. Since my kids can't watch me play MGS3 and my wife can't stand it, I don't think I'd ever be able to play that if I got it, though a $5 it could sit...

My backlog is seriously getting out of control.

If they're young kids, Simpsons has some mild swearing in it and a few off-color jokes. Not necessarily worse than the TV show, but they keep getting repeated in the game whereas in the TV show they probably go by so quickly that the kids wouldn't pick it up. Just an FYI.

Yeah seriously... I haven't played about 90% of my collection.
