To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.

I don't have time to read this entire thread and see if this mentioned yet but LOCOROCO for the PSP was at the front of my Best Buy.

Amazing for me since it's one of the few PSP games I've been wanting and to my shock when I went to check out there it was. Didn't have a $5 coupon with me but I've been wanting it and 9.99 is still great.

It was still in the PSP section for 39.99 so YMMV I suppose.

I am so pissed. What the heck is going on?

I went to my local Best Buy and had the customer serivce guy scan all the PSP games I could find. I told them it that a bunch of people at this site said they should ring up at 9.99, but they wouldn't sell them to me.

I made the guy in the video game section get a manager and I told him about CAG and the $10 PSP games. He refused to sell them to me. Then he tried to tell me that all the games I brought up weren't "PSP" games but for something called "PS2" I told him 'I know what the hell I'm talking about... Ratchet and Clank is supposed to be $9.99, along with a bunch of these other ones, and the guys on cheapassgamer know more about prices and stuff 'cuz they get into the store system.' He got really mad and threatened to trhow me out so I said fine and walked out. I'm reporting them to the BBB.

I saw something I wanted on the way out nevertheless, and I tried to get it with the $5 coupon but they said I was in Circuit City and the coupon was for Best Buy. then they wanted something called a "credit card" or "cash" but I showed them the coupon and they said it didn;t work. I told them people on CAG got games for free with the coupon at BB so they shouldn't discriminate against me and they said theat I was at Circuit City so it didn't matter, but they're going to look into this CAG thing...

D@mn, I need to learn to read one of these days. I get sick and tired of people telling me I'm wrong and trying to confuse me.

Sorry, Couldn't resist! :)

Yeah I can see Ratchet being a Frontrow game. I bet it didn't sell that great. But this soon?

So why don't all the normal stocked items that are also frontrow games become frontrow games? Is there any way that you can convince bestbuy to ring it up as a Frontrow game?

I think that I'm gonna head out and search for this mysterious Frontrow Ratchet.

Love the revised first post. :applause:

It's amazing how many CAGs who've been around for years don't know any better. It should be required to read at least read the first couple posts of a long thread before asking these types of questions.

Blame it on the short attentions span or "I need it now" syndrome I guess.

With everyone talking about Loco Roco being $9.99, it makes me feel victorious knowing that I got it at Circuit City for the same price before the BB sightings.

Also, I have a question. I haven't been to Sears in a while but don't their clearance/cheap games have the same big white price sticker? Is it possible they get the games from the same place?

This mysterious "frontlane vendor" seems to have been set up at Sears, Kmart, Best Buy, and TRU. All those store have games with the same big white sticker.

EDIT: And Circuit City. I've seen them there too.
With everyone talking about Loco Roco being $9.99, it makes me feel victorious knowing that I got it at Circuit City for the same price before the BB sightings.
I also got my own copy of Loco Roco when it was $9.99 during a CC weekly sale a month or so ago. But, I'll have to admit that when I got 2 copies for gifts for $4.99 after BB coupon, it makes me wish I had gotten mine for the lower price, too.

OP, you're right. With this thread being so long and containing misinformation, maybe it's time to start a fresh, new one? Having less posts to sift through might make people (who don't visit this thread often) actually read more of the thread instead of just reading "Ratchet & Clank for $9.99!"

It's not that mysterious a vendor. All of the frontlane product comes from one of two souces, SVG in California (parent company of Crave) and Jack of All Games in Ohio (owned by Take2), which is why there are so many Crave & GlobalStar (a Take2 imprint) titles in the mix. SVG has been stocking TRU for years (remember the plastic tray PS1 games?).
Don't know if it has been posted, but the coupon in the OP is expired.
I think the fact that the coupons are still scannable is the reason why they're still posted in the OP. YMMV on whether the cashier will honor them....but the check-out system definitely will.

really? they still scan? sweet!

you can add tales of symphonia(gc) to the list for 9.99. Spotted two sealed at my local best buy. Also for those wondering, yes of course it was player's choice.
really? they still scan? sweet!
Just a n00b question, how exactly do you use the coupons? Do I have to print them?
Front lane games were removed from the BB in Burbank, CA :(
That happened to me awhile back where they were all by the checkout. Just go back to the video game section and they sometimes have a Seperate section right at the end of the video game system you are looking for. I know they have it for Ps2 and Xbox here.

I wish mine would put those games in the game section. It's so annoying having to stand in the checkout isle looking through a ton of games as people walk past.
Just a n00b question, how exactly do you use the coupons? Do I have to print them?
Nope, you have to bring your computer monitor or laptop in to show them. They don't accept physical coupons. I'm really impressed with the people that bring in multiple coupons, because that's alot to carrry.

Inignot: And everyone understands how this will come about? Remember, there are no dumb questions.
Mothmonsterman: Um, yeah, right here...?
Inignot: In the back, yes, the retard with the dumb question.

No offense, but how else do you use a coupon besides printing it?

I don't know why, but I've got a visual of a guy just bringing a 15" LCD into the store, and being disappointed when they plug it in and there's no coupon on the screen. And then said idiot explains to the BB idiot that "they're on there when I plug it in at home!". Then again, when I went to BB the other day looking for the "Monster Squad" DVD that just came out, the guy, standing in front of one of the big Geek Squad signs, said to me "How do you spell squad? a 'C' or a 'Q'?"

I sometimes wonder if BB/CC/Walmart/etc employees actually receive blood to their brains on a regular basis. That is too damn funny
I was being sarcastic...asshole.
Sorry, but you're out of line. You didn't indicate any sarcasm until after you got called out by the OP, and you asked the question as a "n00b." It was funny, in a "laughing at you, not with you" sense. If you want to claim sarcasm after the fact and get snarky about it, you're in the wrong.

Don't ask stupid questions and expect anything other than derision, unless you're being clear about your "humorous" intent. You weren't, and therefore, you're out of line.
I wish mine would put those games in the game section. It's so annoying having to stand in the checkout isle looking through a ton of games as people walk past.
Same. The worse part is they can fix this so easily, it's not funny. Basically, there is like a 3 sided box of shelves with candy, the bluebox games, DVDs, books, magazines, stuff like that. And BB just decides to put the line dividor right in between so you have to the box, when there is a big clearing with nothing past one of the shelves. *sigh* They only use that space for the checkout line during the holiday season.

I'm hoping Field Commander and R&C start showing up at some of the other places (Kmart/Sears most likely - they have many of the same games as Best Buy). It seems my local Best Buys are phasing out the frontlane stuff.

If nothing else, it is a possible sign that R&C was overproduced and it should start showing up on sale/clearance other places as well. Glad I didn't jump on it at release like I did with Daxter (another one that, while not frontlaned, can be found for $15 regularly).

Dearest patron of the CAG, the games specifically mentioned in this thread are part of a wholesaler's shipper display featuring liquidated electronic media that have been fitted with special price and UPC stickers that override the original UPCs and MSRPs. These games do not affect, interact, co-mingle, or copulate with normal retail inventory. Thank you for your patronage.

I felt that had become necessary.
goodness gracious. i was being facetious. obviously they are not 9.99 at every BB in the country. i was trying to get people to read the fuckin thread !!

The two I usually go to have it so they're far enough away from the bustle of the checkout line where you won't be in anyones way.

I saw Serious Sam (XBox) among the front row games at my BB for $4.99. It's a pretty fun game, definitely worth it (but probably not worth much more).

went to the the BB in dickson city ,pa tonight got both one peice games there was about 10 of each left and that was it pickens are slim just aheads up for thegamer in my area
you can add tales of symphonia(gc) to the list for 9.99.
That I can confirm, if we're talking yellow sticker front line. Now that I think of it, there's another GC game.. um lemme think. Zatchbell? I know its an anime title. *checks gamespot* No. *checks toonami* AH!

Rave Master 9.99

While I'm talking anime games, my local BB has the import of Naruto sumpin sumpin 4 (ds) marked down to 19.99. I don't know if that's a good price or not, but if anyone wants to paypal me for it, pm.

I picked up a few 9.99. 14.99 and 19.99 games this week and didn't feel like bumping the Best Buy clearance trade therad from ages ago. The kid who rang me up both times is awesome. He's got the inside ear that some Wii games will be marked down soon, even though he doesn't know what or when. I'll just keep stopping by every couple of days to see. =)

Yellow stickers are not frontrow games. Those are Best buy 'bargain' titles. There's another thread specifically for them I used to run. I've been reluctant to add many items mentioned so far because I've never seen them in stores with white stickers. I have on the other hand seen them yellow stickered.
Can anyone confirm Symphonia is in fact white stickered?
OP updated with Loco Roco.

That's not even the worst experience I've had at a BB...I've had them actually fake calling target to check stock for a price match. And the girl denied it, until I told the manager to hit redial on the phone, and it dialed a pizza place. That's amongst other gems, like coupons that they wouldn't take because they claimed an anime dvd 'wasn't a dvd, it's anime and it comes with a booklet', and countless other things like arguing with managers to get a fucking pricematch...:bomb:

Honestly, I don't even know why I bother going to any of their stores anymore...

Doesn't seem like there's been any more success (aka posts of "OMG I FOUND IT") with Ratchet for 10 bucks... :whistle2:( I'll try my luck tomorrow at one or two BBs here.

Also, since the July GamePro coupons still seem to scan and work, anyone printing and using them as is (the expired 7/21 date and all)? I feel like a cashier's gonna hassle me about it next time 'round, even though I've used several of these $5-off coupons with no problems in the past.

Was it Serious Sam 1 or 2?

Purchased Tales of Symphonia at BB in Dedham, MA last night for $9.99. It had the white sticker on it, but was not with the games at the front of the store; it was in the regular GC rack.
I saw Full Metal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy for the DS marked frontlane, 14.99.
Still needs to be added in the OP.

YIKES! Those are just scary. FAKE CALLING for a price match? Like they were just going to deny you or something? I just sat in the checkout isle last week for about 15 minutes while they called up Circuit City for a price match on an external hard drive (I was picking up two PSP games with a coupon too, so thought I'd get everything at the same place).

I also hate how Best Buy has NO sales anymore since they started that lame "rewards" program. As though getting a $5 coupon for spending 50 bajillion dollars is a better deal than $8 off a new release $30 game. I guess some people are stupid enough to get suckered into that...or at least Best Buy hopes they are.

And then their coupons they send out that aren't good on...pretty much anything. No game systems, Apple products, computers, etc.

Hope the increasingly scarce frontlane games mentioned in some locales isn't a sign of the end.

The new BB in Boston didn't appear to carry any. In fact the layout of scattered registers prevents a frontlane concept.

Went to Best Buy today, they had a ton of Astonshia Story, a single LocoRoco, tons of Resouivor Dogs, all 9.99.

I saw somthing peculiar though, they had Daxter for 9.99? Anyone else see this? If I had brought some coupons I would have bought some games...

If I had a PSP that'd help too...

This is the Boca Raton, FL Best Buy btw...

I used one yesterday. I went to one of the few BB's around me left with any frontlane stuff. It isn't in the blue cardboard thing any more - just a handful of games sitting on a metal shelf near one of the checkout lines. They had a ton of the Bible Game, some Xbox sports games, MGS 3 for $9.99, and a few others. I did go back to the regular section and noticed more (white tag frontlane) games there, in the Xbox section (and one Exit for $9.99 in the PSP section). No Magic Battlegrounds though, which is all I'm looking for besides the obvious (R&C).

:ps2:
Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 $9.99

:xbox:
The Simpsons Hit and Run(PH) $9.99
Pince of Persia: Sands of time(PH) $9.99

This was the first time I had seen the $14.99 cardboard display. Mostly kiddie games for the GBA/DS.
