I think when Sunday rolls around if you just go to the BB site and sort the BR by price.

Here is a link to all the $9.99 movies. It's actually the $7.99-9.99 price, but sorted high to low.

Here is a link to all the $10-$14.99 movies sorted by low to high.
Man I want to get in on these deals but I have $100 stuck at Amazon and I don't feel like spending money to buy these. Maybe Braveheart since Amazon won't drop it to $5 but thats' about all.

If I recall correctly from last time, the DVD HAD TO HAVE a UPC code on it. I had some of those kids DVDs with trucks and shit that my kid win't watch and they worked fine. Most of the music magazine DVDs and stuff won't work because of that and the case requirement.

Ok i have only used this program once for the Cars Blu ray, but my understanding of it was that you trade in a DVD for the same in blu ray.

For example if i had braveheart on DVD i would bring it in and upgrade it to blu ray.

Is that different?

iirc this may be the third wave
(probably second though)
of this promo and each time it was trade in any dvd for $5 credit towards the purchase of a listed bluray

This is right from the Best Buy ad thread

Yes, the last 2 times there was a list of titles this worked on, it seems this time it is any that are $9.99 or more.

This was never the case, the past 2 times (this being the third) it was a basic trade in any DVD that wasn't porn or a burned copy with its case and get $5 off a list of select Blu-Rays.

This is the 3rd time this promo has happened. I don't know what BB does with them to justify the $5 discount they give you, but I guess they find it lucrative enough to do it a 3rd time.

As with most things it's probably more about getting you in the store and hoping that you'll end up buying other things. It moves stock.
$5 Blu-Ray's I want:
- Braveheart
- Glory
- American Gangster (maybe)
- Knocked Up
- Kickass (maybe)

Is "Good Will Hunting" a good movie? Going by the cover it's received awards/nominations. Opinions would be great! :). It's only $5 too.

$6-$10 Blu-Ray's I want:
- Alien $8
- Gangs of New York $8
- The Dark Knight $10
- The Town $10

The only $15 Blu-Ray I'd get:
- Saving Private Ryan
No, it's not a good movie. It's fantastic. Compared to the rest of your movies listed I would put it right there with TDK if not ahead of it as best film. If it is still $9.99 I will be definitely be getting it.

Well the last two times many of the prices with the $5 DVD discount just knocked it down to the same sales prices they had a few weeks earlier. And I'm sure many people traded for the expensive Blu-rays that weren't bargains even with the $5 discount.

There were a few deals last time. You just need to know what to buy. I got True Grit (2010), Forrest Gump, Donnie Darko and Old School for $5 each. Traded in 4 DVDs for which nobody offers more than $0.50 cents and that is if you're lucky.

I just finished watching Warrior and loved it, so I'll definitely be snagging the BR+DVD+DC tomorrow for $12.99 with one of these coupons. I'll be able to get at least one more coupon and I'm wondering if I should also get the Rise of the Planet of the Apes BR+DVD+DC for $12.99 tomorrow (also an awesome movie) or hold onto it for a later sale...

Agreed, it's one of my all-time favorites. If not my favorite..it's so freakin good. There is one scene that will always manage to make me tear up.

like the previous times they had this promotion the prices have gone up, I can see alot of bluray prices adjusting
like the previous times they had this promotion the prices have gone up, I can see alot of bluray prices adjusting
They should not be, if they do I'll be raising hell with corporate and BBB. All the $9.99 ones I'm interested in I looked at today specifically and tag states the price ends 1/28. And before anyone complains/accuses them of raising the price on example of Green Mile/Seven which are currently $10.99, their tags do say through 1/7 :(

Was so thinking of those in particular but will wait until they eventually hit $10 or less, say around next Black Friday now.

So far looking at getting the following titles for $5 after trade-in. All had tags saying their price was $10 until 1/28. These are for sure, couple others I am on the fence with.

American Beauty
Spider-Man
Smoking Aces
Matrix Reloaded/ Matrix Revolutions
Stripes
Good Will Hunting
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

So the ad says see a list of qualifying titles. Does anyone know if the computer will reject the coupon if used on a movie not on this "list?"
So the ad says see a list of qualifying titles. Does anyone know if the computer will reject the coupon if used on a movie not on this "list?"
Just read the small print (2)

Some titles have dropped to $9.75, including Spider-man and Stripes so I don't think they'll qualify anymore.

Of what I seen online these are what I'm interested in at $9.99:

Sweeney Todd
The Crow
American Beauty
Apollo 13
Kill Bill Vol.2
There's Something About Mary
Carlito's Way
Leon the Professional
Nightmare on Elm Street 2&3
Final Fantasy Advent Children
Superbad

And maybe on these:

Raging Bull
American Gangster
Moon
House of Flying Daggers

I can type up a list of all the titles marked 9.99 online later if anyone wants it.

It's a YMMV on this one. Sometimes it works, sometimes they have to do an override.
I might gonna pick up Adele
if you mean the concert blu ray, the fine print says "music titles not included" in the upgrade & save

Apparently the coupons don't work on sale prices anymore. Traded in my 5, found the movies I wanted, went to check out and was told that. I asked if she had tried packaging it out and she said no and refused to even try. I tried to point out the sale prices in the weekly ad that reference the coupon and she claimed those were all full price before coupon. I asked for my movies back, which they obliged, and I left.

This store used to be one of my favorites but they have recently started doing everything possible to deny my business. This sucks.
LOL cry some more
Thx for the constructive criticism there  How about the reason why I would do what I said I would, and obviously when I say "raise hell" I'm being figurative. Simply was replying to someone saying watch they will raise prices, and I was referring to those titles that specifically state they are that price through a certain date that has not passed. And as of right now, appears they have not raised said prices. Now the issue from many of course is that Best Buy seems to be clueless as to how to handle the sale. Shocker.

Maybe someone else will have a more willing employee who will at least try to use a coupon with an on-sale title. If the coupons truly don't work on sale prices anymore, that would suck. HARD.

I'm hoping to pick up the BR+DVD+DC for Warrior and RotPotA for $12.99 each today after coupons, so I'll let you know how that goes tonight. ;)

The coupon given to employees isn't working at all today. I had to get a manager override and they had to mark it down manually. She tried to say that it didn't work on sale prices and I pointed out in the ad that Our Idiot Brother was on sale for 14.99 this week and the ad showed that it was 9.99 with coupon.

Thanks for the heads-up; now I know to be ready with the ad when I go to buy my movies with the coupons. :)
Still confused, is this for any blu-rays or just what is on the list like last time?
A list like last time, though a lot of titles in the ad aren't showing up on the website listing.

bestbuy.com/upgradeandsave

I guess some people were only willing to read what they wanted to see in the ad.

so its not any title 9.99 and above? would makse sense why certain titles in the ad arent showing up on that listing.

lots of people are getting denied (according to bluray.com).. glad I didn't run out the door first thing this morning.. hopefully this will be worked out sooner than later..

I was about to post the link as well, though I don't think it's people reading into the ad; it's pretty clear that this is an error happening on Best Buy's side, particularly since so many titles specifically listed in the ad as qualifying are not in that link (not to mention the ad does specifically say "valid on any Blu-ray movie priced $9.99 and up," how do you possibly read into that?).

I mean, the online list even contains at least one Bluray that's under $9.99 (The Departed, $7.99), so there is clearly something messed up with the online list (and thus probably the list in their system) right now.

What are you talking about? The ad CLEARLY says ANY blu ray $9.99 and above.
What are you talking about? The ad CLEARLY says ANY blu ray $9.99 and above.
Is that where you chose to stop reading, Slick? They clearly made a mistake since on one page it says "a Blu-ray" and on the next page it says "any Blu-ray," but both pages say "list of qualifying titles."
What are you talking about? The ad CLEARLY says ANY blu ray $9.99 and above.
EXACTLY, and to add right after that statement it states EXCLUDES music Blu-rays. There is no need whatsoever for that statement IF this was not to be for ALL blu-rays but instead some specific list of titles that for some reason or another on the back page of the ad it states is supposed to exist. And like above someone stated on their list at the moment there is a title under $9.99 (The Departed). Shocker that they dropped the ball.

Thankfully called my Best Buy before bothering to go in, and for now they stated they would only allow the titles from the website and those in the ad itself. Of course they had no explanation to the fact that some were already on sale, so why could it not be all titles even those perhaps on sale. They really need to keep these stores better educated on how to handle these sales and exactly what these sales should allow/not allow. Hoepfully this can be cleared up soon.
I guess some people were only willing to read what they wanted to see in the ad.
It says "any". I guess some people jump to conclusions instead of reading the fine print. :)

The list on the site is for last time. As mentioned, The Departed is on the list on the site, and it's 7.99 now.. It doesn't even qualify.

I don't understand how there's so much confusion from customers and employees alike when it states everything clearly.

Last time I tried this the employees gave me a hard way to go. As much as I would like to take advantage I think it would be more of a hassle than anything.

It was a glitch in the system but seems to be fixed. Jus picked up Braveheart and Troy at $4.99 each.
At first cashier tried to deny me sale and said "doesnt work on sale items" but I told her to complete the trasnsaction and scan coupouns and it worked. She said some guy cursed her out earlier b/c it didnt pop up.

Just wanted to add that the $5 coupons state in bold print that it works on any blu-ray title $9.99 and above, and when I asked about it at customer service they said it was true that it should work on ANY title, not just those in the list on the website.

The problem is getting them to let it work on sale items...

According to a few people who have gone very recently, the BB systems are working properly now. Any title 9.99 and up should work without issue

Got back from my store recently, and the coupons worked fine on sale items without any overrides. Raging Bull was one of the titles, and that wasn't on the list so I think people should be fine picking up any title as long as it meets the 9.99 or higher criteria

Suppose I'll go back either later tonight or tomorrow morning and hope that same manager isn't there. I get the feeling she would track me down to the registers to make sure I don't buy anything in her store.
