I think when Sunday rolls around if you just go to the BB site and sort the BR by price.

Here is a link to all the $9.99 movies. It's actually the $7.99-9.99 price, but sorted high to low.

Here is a link to all the $10-$14.99 movies sorted by low to high.
What a cluster.

It took me forever, it is like they had no idea about the promotion even though it is plastered in their flyer.

I traded in 2 DVDs for blu-rays that are listed in their ad.
Do what I did and bring the ad with you.
Both of them they had to do a manual $5 off.

I got Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Scarface.

(Probably been asked alot already but let me just ask for clarification)

I can trade in ANY DVD (let's say the copy of Casino Royale I bought from BB on BF for $1) and get the $5 off coupon?

Or is there a master list of DVDs I can trade in? I've been reading different sites, haven't gotten this cleared up.

Thanks! :D

any DVD as long as it isn't burned, bootlegged or porn.

Picked up "Mr. Popper's Penguins" combo pack today. They could not scan it because it was not on "THE LIST" yet it was in the flyer. OVERRIDE!

What a P.I.T.A. Even though the ad shows Braveheart as $4.99 with the coupon, the *MANAGER* insisted that the coupons could not be used for "discounted" items. After some gentle push back, they manually adjusted the prices to reflect the $5 discount.

When trading in the DVDs they did check to see that they were all original discs, and not DVD+-Rs. You can use the coupons on any BluRay, assuming they don't reject the coupons on "discounted" items.

Traded in 5 and got 5 blu's off the list. It was a total nightmare the customer service lady gave me a printed out list and said it had to be on there. They wouldn't even scan anything else, I asked about all the movies in the add and they showed me an email from corporate said the movies had to be on the list. at least they new it was a nightmare but my store is very by the book and won't budge on anything.

Do they require the case as well? Wondering if I am able to trade in some of the DVD discs from the Blu-Ray combo packs.

Wait, are you talking about the Blus you could spend it on, or the DVDs you can trade in? It should work on any Blu $9.99 on up because that's what the ad promises; why not just take the coupon and spend it on another Best Buy store or come in later and get a manager or customer service associate that isn't a dick?

Ok, using the coupons... no problem.

Got Kick-Ass, and Moon for $5, Heavy Metal for $10 and even though it's not a great deal, it's still $5 off so I picked up the Looney Tunes Blu-Ray Platinum Collection for $45

What was hard? getting the coupons... first the customer service told me I had to do it through Geek Squad... (What?) then since the line at Geek Squad is long with no movement, the Geek says, "What are you guys in line for" we tell him, then a guy behind the counter says the promotion is "Online Only."

Me and this other guy are like, Hell no, here's the AD... then they have no clue where the coupons even are. The manager then finds them and has to explain to the two cashiers how to even give them to us through the register.

Unreal.

Very few movies, I am interesting in getting at the moment. Got
Serenity ($9.99)
District 9 ($9.99)
Spider-Man Trilogy Set ($9.99!!!)
- For some reason the BB I was in had the sets with a $14.99 sign in front of it. Ranged up for $39.99 but the cashier honored the price after I tolder her about the sign!!! Made my day walking out with the set for so cheap ;3

My god Best Buy really needs to just die. I want to like them, but they are trying to shut their selves down. I came here to bitch and see that I wasnt the only one who had to go through hell.

Waited in line 15 minutes, typical but no biggie, then when i showed her the DVD's and asked about the promotion, she looked at me like a deer in headlights and said she had to ask a manager because she didnt know about it. So I wait a few minutes and she comes back with.... I need to trade in recycled stuff like old cell phones, tvs, and computers.... I smiled and asked if she was serious. She was. So I left and grabbed their ad. Its pretty cut and dry in the ad. Bring in your DVDs and get a 5$ off coupon. So i asked the dude who watches the camera at the front, if i could talk to a manager. So the manager shows up and goes into the old computers and tvs spill. I read the ad again in front of her and I feel like im in some candid camera show. Where the hell are you getting trade in tvs, computers out of old dvds? So she leaves for another 10 minutes or so and comes back with her cold attitude and hands me the coupons liek she just did me a favor. So after 30 mins I finally get them. At Least no additional problem at the checkout which was a plus. Picked up cowboyos and aliens and Planet of the Apes. The dvds I traded in were crappy coming attraction type dvds that best buy used to give away. I feel the need to cuss out corporate. We shouldnt have to fight them over their own shitty ad. Its just a matter of time before they fold.

I understand everyone's frustration with BB. What it really boils down is to poor customer training. This promotion has been going on for the 3rd time now and by now the Management should know what's up.

My BB thank God isn't filled with part time morons nor piss poor management. I asked about it the other day when I was picking up my Se7en digibook and yep the knew about it and knew that it started on the 8th.

lol I was going to ask how you got it for that price...and there's my answer.

I got all 5 coupons and $5 off without a hitch tonight. St Petersburg, Fl store on 22nd Ave.

Gave CS lady my dvd's. Scanned them in. Got my coupons. Found my Blu's and that was that.

Moon- $4.99
Watchmen- $4.99
Generation Kill- $19.99
The Town- $9.99
Rise of the Planet of the Apes- $12.99

$56.66 total. I may go back and pick up some more later this week.

I had no issues at mine either. I was in a rush to meet a friend so I could only find 1 DVD in my house to trade-in. Got there, no line at customer service. The girl there just opened the DVD case to check it was in there, and handed me a coupon, and that was it. Grabbed Raging Bull with a slip cover for $5. Going back for Nightmare on Elm Street 2&3 later this week.

Still sounds like it's YMMV on having a staff that knows what to do or not have a manager try to stonewall. I went to my local one this morning, but only found 2 of the movies I wanted. Decided it wasn't worth the hassle and left. May try another one tonight or tomorrow.

My store would not give out the coupon. Once I picked out my blu rays I had to go back to CS then she rang me up. There were several people there doing it all the same process. They said the coupons are all the same and could be used over and over again that's why they wouldnt give them out.

So, I am confused about "The Departed". It is the top one on the list at "bestbuy.com/upgradeandsave", but it's only $7.99. Is the coupon going to work? If so, will it bring it down to $4.99 or take $5 off and make it $2.99(!).

Anyone try this? I only ask because it is actually on the official list.

I live in Columbia, Maryland and they wouldn't give me the coupons either I had to grab the blu-ray movies then go back to customer service to be rung up. And I asked about the ad saying "Any Blu-Ray $9.99 and up" they said that was incorrect even though I had the ad saying otherwise.
Ughh. Just realised braveheart is supposed to have a sleeve but none at my store did. Who just takes these off.
After awhile, they stop shipping movies with slipcovers =/

Was just about to say the same thing. Slipcovers become hard to find after the first pressing. After a while they start shipping without them. For the longest time my BB had Forrest Gump with slipcover then after a bit they were slipless.

That doesn't make sense either because the ad says the recycle receipt must accompany the coupon.
Yes, it was actually pretty funny.
I agree, not the best movie by a long shot, but worth owning i think. I own it.

The Departed is $7.99. The deal is for $9.99 and up. It will not work. I don't know why it's included on the site, or why it's on any list.. or why there's even a list. The coupon works on anything priced $9.99 and up.

I'm going to have to cave and get Tucker and Dale for $15 tomorrow after coupon. I just watched it on Netflix - holy crap, it's hilarious.

Does anyone know if the coupon can be used on online purchases? I would read the fine print myself except for the fact that the "employees" at the Customer Service desk didn't even know that the promotion had started again and had no idea how/where to get/print the coupons...

After 10 minutes of waiting, I left them my number and they said they'd call me when they figured it out... We'll see how long it takes...

No, in-store only. You need to provide the recycling receipt you get when you traded in the dvds to redeem the coupons.

Traded in two sets of 5 at different BBs and what I wanted was OOS. Hopefully I'll get to use them before 1/28.

Ah, ok thanks for the clarification. That means I won't be able to order Face-Off from their Outlet site.

Is the "recycling receipt" just the receipt you get from Best Buy for trading the DVDs in? Or is there some other hoop you need to jump through?

It's a receipt that shows you traded in the DVDs. It's just a normal receipt that you're given once you trade DVD's in.

Gotcha, thanks! Hopefully the Best Buy near work will actually have a clue about the promotion, as well as the new details about "all Blu-Rays over $9.99".

The first time I did this, I traded in 5 dvd's.... I got NO receipt ..they just took it and gave me the coupons...this was AFTER I won an argument with the CSR and manager who claimed the promo was ON LINE ONLY or This store doesn't do it or the promo starts next week...even though I pointed out the ad promoting it in the CURRENT WEEK's AD!

I have talked to corp. about this and they were clueless as well.... no one knows how to do this promo?

Now it's confusing... so are they suppose to give me the trade in value + the 5 dollar coupon or just the 5 dollar coupon? so if the dvd is 2.50 trade in value, then I get that plus the 5 dollar coupon?

You don't get a "trade-in value" for anything. They're not being traded-in for inventory purposes, this is a recycling program. They will be destroyed. You give them your DVD's, you have a receipt showing you traded-in 5 DVD's, you pick out 5 blu's, you hand the blu's to the cashier, he scans the barcode given to employees. it takes $5 off of the price of the blu. I guess some stores are handing out $5 off coupons to the customer, but mine just has one coupon near the register. The cashier tags it for each DVD that was traded in (as shown on the reciept).

You guys are trying to make this much more difficult than it is.
Yes, it was actually pretty funny.
rental at best wouldn't want to watch it twice, IMO

Kinda annoyed. Went in, asked the guy at the door where to go for it. He directs me to wait in line at customer service.

So I go there, wait in line for 30-45 minutes, and the girl says I have to do everything in one transaction, and now the line is like 20-25 people long.

I don't know why I waste my time with this POS place.
Us making it more difficult? The ad's make it sound easy, until you walk into the store and have to deal with clueless employees and managers. I wonder why they are destroying the discs? Are they trying to reduce the world's DVD's?

I traded a movie yesterday with 100% success. They were clueless at first, but everything went well. I bought Kill Bill Vol. 1 for just $5 and I'm going to return later this week to pick some other movies.

The coupon they gave was just a regular letter sheet printed in a black ink printer with a barcode.

Question... is the barcode unique? Or can make copies of the coupon?

Bar code was not unique last time, but it was a double-sided coupon on thick paper with color. You are supposed to have that trade in receipt during your Blu ray purchase. The first time BB ran the program, they did not even take my coupon up at the register so I was able to use it again. This was not the case the second time BB ran the program.

Little bit of advice to anyone doing this. Go into the store, get the blu-rays you want FIRST, then go to CS with the movies to trade in.

If you give them 5 movies and they only have 2 that you want then you technically can't get your 3 DVDs back, they may give you them, but they don't have to. Plus, if they make you do it in one transaction then that's fine too since you have the movies you want.

I participated the last 2 times, and the first time was a huge hassle that required me to be on the phone with corporate for an hour, corporate talking to the store, the store still saying no, corporate giving me $25 as an apology, then getting someone high up to call the store and then getting it to work. Then I was told I was being put on a list so they can keep an eye on me.

But the 2nd time was great, couldn't find a movie they said they had and they were able to create an online order and let me pay for it in store, allowing me to use the coupon. Movie showed up at the store a week later or so, got a phone call, and that was that.

This time was easy as well, sorta. I wanted to get Dogma, Happy Feet, and Ghostbusters. I could not find a single one, went to the kiosk, each one said to see a customer specialist. They looked them up and there was just one of each in stock. They got someone to help me find them and he was able to find Happy Feet and Dogma for me. Only issue is they gave me the $12 Happy Feet, they allowed me to pay the $10 ($5) price for it though. Worked out in the end and was very please.

Went this morning to try the and they said I would have to buy the same movie I traded in. I told them no and they said that is what it said according to management.
