I think when Sunday rolls around if you just go to the BB site and sort the BR by price.

Here is a link to all the $9.99 movies. It's actually the $7.99-9.99 price, but sorted high to low.

Here is a link to all the $10-$14.99 movies sorted by low to high.

wow these employees have no idea what they are doing with this promo. I brought in 5 movies and they gave me 5 of those coupons with no recycling reciept and they didn't even scan the movies in. I got my deals but man they just have no clue what they are doing.
Um they did almost everything right there.

 • They gave you 1 coupon for every DVD you brought in
 • They don't need to scan the movies you brought in, they frankly don't care as long as they aren't burned or porn
 • The only thing they should have done is given you a receipt, but very few stores do that.

Easy in and out for this one. Grabbed

Inglorious Basterds
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children
Scarface Limited BD
Troy

$31.xx out the door.

Took them to CS, rang em up, took my DVD's and bounced.

I'm going to the BB near my house on the way home from work to do 5 more movies. Not a bad deal for these at all.

Got in, had the DVDs scanned in really easily & quickly, got my coupon, headed into the Blu-Ray section, got Boardwalk and the Game of Thrones Blu-Ray sampler that you get if you buy any HBO boxset (which they had been lining up for the Boardwalk release), getting it all for $30, and all in all in about 10 minutes.

Staff were really nice and getting the deals was effortless. Of course, the Best Buy here at St. Pete, FL, is always pretty good so I've never had a problem at all before either, so no differences either way.

BTW, the GOT sampler is absolutely amazing and they had several of them in stock in the Blu-Ray section; I'd recommend it to anyone, especially people who haven't seen the show yet: you will be blown away.
I figured I'd save myself the trouble last night and found the blu-rays I wanted before I went to CS, and when I got there she just counted the DVDs, scanned the same coupon 5 times and sold me the blus. Easy peasy.
Did the same thing today. Had 4 movies to trade in and picked up 3 movies and went to CS. I had already pre-ordered BWE BBY exclusive last week. Was hoping to just do a return/rebuy w/ trade in, but the girl at CS said she couldn't do it. She suggested just letting the online order expire or canceling it online.

So I went back and found a copy of the BWE BBY exclusive and took it to CS. She scanned the coupon 4 times then scanned the movies. Luckily I have never had an issue doing this deal at my local store.

Couldn't find the sampler at my store. Don't know if they were out of stock or if they had not stocked them yet. They had a section dedicated to BWE but had yet to even stock it. They had all the sets stacked up and sitting on the floor. I figured it would have been there or on the new release table at the front of the store.

Someone on another forum said they found it in the tv section. May go back with my receipt later this week and see if I can find it. Was really looking forward to checking it out.

In my case, I asked an associate to show me where they were, and they'd kept it in the featured counter down in the Blu-Ray section, where it was kept with the Boardwalk release.

So I've done this Upgrade & Save promotion the last two times that Best Buy has offered it and both times it was fairly simple. Bring in movies, get coupons, check out. Not this time, however. The cashier that was helping me at customer service scanned the movies just fine (one of which was a Fantastic Four Digital Comic DVD that I got free with one of the FF movies) but afterward she told me that I had to find movies with the Upgrade & Save sticker on them. I pointed out that the coupon states "any Blu Ray $9.99 and up" but she was reading off of some paperwork that was behind the counter, most likely the instructions from the last promotion when it included only select movies. Knowing that it included all movies, I just went and picked out a few and came back. That's when what should have been a one-minute checkout turned into a nearly twenty-minute one.

I got the same cashier and she asked me if I found movies with the sticker on them. I told her no movies had the stickers on them and that the coupon states it should work for ANY BD. She kept looking at the paperwork and was unsure of the whole thing, so she left the station to go track down someone from electronics. Once she finally found someone, she brought him back to the counter and he read over the same paperwork. He agreed with her that it should be select movies and had the original cashier try to go to Best Buy's Upgrade & Save website to see if they could find a qualifying list of movies. They couldn't get to the website for some reason and at that point they both just gave up and decided to ring up my purchases. Lo and behold, the coupons all scanned just as they should have to begin with.

The cashier was incredibly nice and apologetic throughout the entire ordeal so I wasn't too upset but it was frustrating to say the least. After about a half-hour in the store I finally managed to get Boardwalk Empire ($29.99), Scarface ($9.99), Sweeney Todd ($4.99), and Hobo With a Shotgun ($12.99).

Not sure if someone already mentioned it, but I went yesterday and got Matrix Reloaded/ Revolutions double blu ray for $5 with the coupon. I only saw one copy and it was in a weird spot.

Can you use the coupons online or can they only be used in stores?

If I go in and they don't have American Beauty at my store I will have a worthless $5 coupon since that is all I want.

I believe it's an in-store-only promotion.

All you have to do is go find the Blu-rays you want in the store *before* you take your DVDs up to the CS counter for trade-in. That way, you know the BB has movies you want and you won't trade in DVDs for useless coupons.

Yea its been $9.99 for a few days
I like the deal this time more than last time since we can pick any blurays $9.99 and up. I found 4 or 5 I will pick up. Now since I traded so many dvds last time, hopefully I have more crap to trade in this time. I wish they accepted disc only, since I have like 30 shitty disc only movies I got from an old movie store I worked at that closed.
There are a couple of sites that have high res scans of DVD case inserts.

The last couple of times this promo came around, I ended up printing out the case inserts for the actual movies of a bunch of movie promo discs, VCDs etc. of various movies that I had gotten for free. Like the Making of 300 discs they were giving away at Best Buy that each had a free movie ticket in them. I just went to google images and searched for "300 DVD case insert" or "300 DVD scan" and found all the images for various movies.

Very unlikely Best Buy employees will actually check the discs carefully or even care...especially since it's just a discount coupon that is bringing them business.

This is the first time for me participating in the promo and I was quite surprised how the dvd trade in process worked. The first five I traded in the employee didn't even check if discs were inside the case. The second five the employee did check for discs but neither of them checked the condition.

wow, what an asshole move. You know you wasted money on paper/ink/cd's right? Probably more than 5 dollars worth.

It's still pretty dishonest. Not only in printing fake DVD insets, but also by misleading BB into thinking they're the actual movies, or even DVD's for that matter, since he mentions VCD's. Your Morality May Vary I guess

Also: lol at anyone who thinks this place has members above slickdeals

That I can agree with, passing off trailers or what have you as legit movies is wrong. If the box art states it's a trailer or preview disc then I see no issue in that personally.

When I went to BB to trade in, the employee didn't give the cases a second glance and just shoved them under the desk. When my brother went, however, another employee went so far as to inspect the discs under the light and copy down the codes printed on the inner ring. Not sure what that accomplishes, but she did it anyway.

I went and did my BB swaps today. Traded in four dvds I haven't watched in years. I picked up Inglorious Basterds, Kick Ass, The Crow, and Incredible Hulk, all for $4.99 each after coupon. I had $18 on a gift card, too, so that sweetened the deal even more for me. While the process went smoothly, the employee did try to tell me it wouldn't work on sale blurays, but I asked him to try it and it worked without issue, like I knew it would.

There is no real "upgrading" being done by the majority of people. It isn't like Saix is giving them burned disks. The dishonest thing would be to make hundreds of photocopies (something many people did last time).

Went in today and had no problems. Picked up

2 Fast 2 Furious - $4.99
40 Year Old Virgin (BR + DVD) - $4.99
Dawn of the Dead 2004 (BR + DVD) - $4.99
The Hangover Part 2 (BR + DVD + DC) - $9.99
Harry Potter Deathly Hollow Part 2 (BR + DVD + DC) - $9.99

Not a bad deal, may go back for more in the next few weeks.

This is a great deal traded in 4 old dvds that were worthless or duplicates and grabbed

MI1 -$10 movie cash
MI2 -$10 movie cash
MoneyBall-great baseball movie
The Fast and Furious

basically paid only $20 after I use movie cash this weekend. Really what is stupid is the movie cash code is on the back of the sticker not inside case, for the immoral types it could easily be taken, so make sure the sticker is on the outside if you are getting it.
Can I trade in those Blockbuster DVDs I have? The ones with the weird black cases?
Yeah, I traded a few BBV DVDs in the black rental cases with cover art. Some BB CSRs don't even bother opening up the movie cases to see if there are discs in there.

Great thank you!

Why do they do this? I couldn't give this Undercover Brother DVD away! Haha

Don't judge me!
How is that an ahole move? BB doesn't resell these. And I highly doubt he lost more then 50 cents to $1 per movie print out.
Doesn't matter. That coverart is copyrighted the same way as the actual movie and this is illegal.

$5
casino
dawn of the dead
dusk till dawn.

But really im trading in to get Road House. been wanting it for forever, and now is the time to get it
Doesn't matter. That coverart is copyrighted the same way as the actual movie and this is illegal.
Doesn't matter. Had sex.

Ran out to my other BB and scooped up 5 more movies.

First Run:
Inglorious Basterds
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children
Scarface Limited BD
Troy
$31.xx

Second Run:
Hangover II BD/DVD Multipack
Your Highness
Super Troopers
Groundhog Day
Kung Fu Panda II 3D

$70.xx

$100 for 10 BD, one being a 3D new release? Not a bad deal for 10 DVD's that were pretty much junk for me.

Going back on Sunday to see what other BD's go on sale. Hoping they switch it up nicely. The last day is the 28th, so there should be 2 cycle of deals/new releases to grab with this trade in offer. Only thing that sucks is TF 3D will be out the week after this deal is done. Wish it extended until then...

Took me three trips to the CS before my first transaction.

Went in with the intent to get Boardwalk Empire. Couldn't find anything else I wanted, at a good price. Wanted American Beauty and House of Flying Daggers, but both were OOS. Did a blind buy on Super 8 instead.

Might try another BBY for American Beauty though.

How much was Scarface?

the dc expired on 10/31/09 so its useless anyways.

As long as they have a UPC, I don't see why not.

At the Milpitas store, the rep only opened the box and checked the top of the disks (looking for non-burned disc I guess). Then she generically put in some codes, printed a receipt and stapled in onto a photocopied sheet. She wrote how many DVDs I traded in on the paper.

I only ended up getting 3 BRs: both Kill Bill's and Crouching Tiger so I took the sheet back and she wrote that I had one $5 "coupon" left to use later.

$10 After coupon

Going to go back today to see if I can a) price match WalMart with the Star Wars complete BD set for $70 and then b) trade in a dvd for a $5 off on this.

Hope it works.

They'll price match but won't stack a coupon at my stores (San Jose area).

Well the whole answer is the system itself won't allow a PM and then a coupon to be applied. A manager MAY allow it, but I highly doubt it and I've never heard of that working before.

Possible stacking for another $3 off on Universal blus from the DVD thread:
Found on Slickdeals. This is a Universal contest. One link allows you to get a free code. The other link is to enter the contest. Once you lose, you're allowed to print a coupon for $3 off any Universal 100th Aniversary Blu-Ray or DVD.

Free code: http://universal.promo.eprize.com/100thanniversary/oamoe_code_page
Entry form: http://universal.promo.eprize.com/100thanniversary/

THANKS! Just a heads up, these are bricks coupons.

Any chance these will stack at BB with their $5 off any DVD coupon? Or will the system not take 2 coupons?

It'll stack, as it's a manufacturer coupon and the $5 off coupon is a store coupon. You can use one of each per item.
:bouncy:

I had Super Troopers PM'ed to $10.00 then $5 taken off at my local BB. It was only $12 so a $2 total difference, but I know it can be done. Of course, highly YMMV. We'll see in a couple of hours!

Just to confirm...

I bought 5 DVD movies at Dollar Tree yesterday. I didn't have any problem to trade them at Best Buy. I picked up:

Kill Bill Vol. 2
Knocked Up (DVD Included)
40 Year Old Virgin (DVD Included)
Apollo 13 (DVD Included)
American Gangster (DVD Included).

I paid exactly $27.00

I bought about 15 movies threw this deal but the most interesting came in the form of National Treasure 1 and 2. They were 14.99 each. The coupon DID not apply to either of them, HOWEVER, they rang up in the same bracket in the receipt for buy 1 get 1 free. Wish I had the receipt to show you guys. It seemed a little strange but I saved 5 extra dollars even though the coupon didn't take. Not a bad deal for movies that typically hang around 13-15 dollars on amazon.

LOL, I just had a CSR tell me the trade in DVDs must be family oriented films - no R rated films can be accepted. I just laughed and asked her to show me where that caveat is indicated anywhere. She told me she read it in a corporate email, then couldn't find any such limitation/exclusion when she went to look it up, so just took my DVD and handed me a coupon.

Best part is, my trade in was just a second DVD/bonus material disc (Matrix Reloaded disc 2) with a photocopy of the Matrix Reloaded case insert in a generic DVD box. And, after trying to deny me from spending money in her store, she didn't even bother opening the case to see if there was anything inside, scan it or anything. They have a huge stack of these coupons at CSR...they ought to just hand them out and not bother with this trade in BS that they so often make you jump through hoops for.

I just made a bunch of photocopies of the coupon so I don't even have to bother trading anything else in.

 I wonder how she got that idea into her head. I know Best Buy has improved a lot from a decade ago, but a story like this takes me right back to those days when customer service would do anything to deny a customer.

You act like those days ended. Just ones I would like to walk up to the service desk and not be told:

1) How do we know you didn't steal this?
2) We don't have any of these in stock, someone must have stolen your item.
3) That coupon would make the item below cost, we would lose money.

Thankfully, those days are over in my area. This comes after years of the exact scenarios you cited, and after dozens of complaints personally lodged. I like to think I made a difference there; I'll never know for sure, but I definitely see a huge change. Now my Best Buy stores are staffed with competent, helpful, and accommodating employees. Stranger things have happened, but I sure can't think of any right now. :)

I know, I am at a BB crossroads.

There is a problem store in my area (actually the newest store as well) and the customer service manager is in a-hole that always tries to make my life miserable, even for something like a store pickup.

Long story short, I am going to write a letter to corporate since the 8-10 negative surveys aren't doing anything.

Now I was looking for the store info on facebook and I saw the guy in the BB pics, I clicked on his name and there are some compromising pics of him at a party in his BB uniform.

I am trying to decide if I should include the screen prints in my letter to corporate or if that violates facebook rules, is illegal, or is going to far.
