Best video game ending

CAGiversary!
Chrono Cross played through them all. Chrono Trigger. XIII even though it left me sorta wanting more. Baldur's gate: dark alliance loved it yet it irritated me that there wasn't more.

Oh man so many good endings, MMX3 where zero save you from sigma with one beam sabre slice, Mario RPG, FFVII for obvious reasons, Fallout 2 based on how you played the game, ogre battle 64 based on how you played the game, just too many great endings too name.

Congratulations. You've destroyed the vile Red Falcon and saved the universe. Consider yourself ... a hero.

I remember no ending more fondly.

Oh yah twisted metal black had a ton of great (albeit creepy) endings. Loved that one guy that was dead with the kid I think they were called yellow Jacket

END SPOILERS!!!

:D

I'm surprised at the number of FFVII votes. When I finished that and saw the final FMV my thought was, "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? What am I supposed to get from that? Did I accomplish anything that matters to my characters?"

FFVIII had a pretty good ending that made up for some pretty bad stuff initially. Always liked the ending to Legend of Zelda Link to the Past...

Off the top of my head
Zone of Enders : Running for it against a superior opponent, pretty original as odd as that seems :D

Zone of Enders 2 : Amazing game that finished with a bang, left it open for a third game while at the same time wrapping up the whole Anubis rivalry.

Final Fantasy X : Talk about an ending that went against the norm, about as bittersweet as you can get.

I like Conker's Bad Fur Day ending with the Aliens/Matrix spoof. I thought the game was going to continue and was surprised when I realized it was over.

Gotta be Wind Waker. I won't post any spoilers, but...all I will say is, if you stopped playing because of Tingle's Bullshit FetchQuest (TM), FINISH THE GAME!

SPOILER

Silent Hill 2

Not so much the very ending but the part were you find out why he ended up in silent hil and the very ending where he ends up leaving with the girl that looks just like his wife even though she's getting sick and knows she's gonna end up dying anyway. Oh yeah, I don't like Happy endings so much.

I always enjoyed FFVII and FFX's endings they really also put so much work into completing the story the CG is incredible. I also enjoy the Max Payne games story and endings. Zelda the WW and OoT are also great! I just finished Manhunt this evening and let me tell you the end to this game is tripped out.

How can people say FFVII? It barely qualified as an ending. It just sort of trailed off. I agree with Wind Waker as being a great ending, though. It felt like a chapter of gaming history ending. And Chrono Cross's wasn't that spectacular, but the song at the end is pure goodness, like if you gave Santa a spinal tap and drank the sweet sweet fluid.

beyond good and evil...short game, but great...and awesome ending...hope they make a sequel.
runner up...gta3...all i can say is that bitch got what she deserved

Wind Waker and FFIX were great. Chrono Trigger takes the cake though. FFVII was a great game, but was disappointed about the lack of closure at the end. Hopefully Advent Children will fix that.

Chrono Cross had great music throughout. One of the best parts of the game...

Oh, I'm aware. I imported the soundtrack for it not long after I bought the game. It was expensive as hell, but worth it.
Starfox for SNES, just for the music.
Ditto. Add Zelda: a Link to the Past to that list.

FFX. Personally I like the Japanese ending when she says, "Thank you." But English ending was also great. I liked how the love story wasn't as heavyhanded and how "I love you" was only said once if even at all.

Wind Waker was also great, especially because the final fight was completely super awesome.

I was also a very amused by the Halo ending for the legendary difficulty.
Silent Hill 2
I found this game as a whole to be a bit disappointing. I was expecting horror, but I didn't really get any.

I loved the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time ending - after I finished, I started playing a new file all over again...

I know an ending that sucks. That is Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. Talk about Bullshit. I was severely let down by that one.
Freedom Fighters, it felt so good to finally kick the communists out of the US.
I enjoyed the game but I was kinda let down by the ending. I guess I was hoping for more and they were just leaving it open for a sequel.

That's why Bittorrent rocks ;-)

Well now it does, but this was back in, what, 98? 99? I paid $80-something for Chrono Cross and Trigger soundtracks. I mean, it was 5 discs, but still...
