I'm the one person in this thread that seems to have a legitimate complaint here with Best Buy. Their "My Best Buy®" Store credit card is currently unusable and all pending promotional purchases have been terminated. Meaning all deferred financing has been removed from the account at the request of Best Buy. I've been in contact with Executive resolutions and they are standing behind their May 24th 2018 TOS update and the terms there in that allow them to conclude all business between myself and Best Buy due to the infraction. That infraction which I have evidence proving to the contrary that they are in the wrong about. Anything related to the old member ID has been deleted. This includes service contracts, gift cards issued from trades, gcu, pending orders and elite plus that I had on the account. The new member ID that was generated for my account has no service contracts associated with it. I've called Geek squad directly to look into my service record numbers and they have no record of them. The only thing that survived was my saved items list, payment information, and address book. Their "My Best Buy®" Store credit card is linked to the member ID and required migration to work on a new member ID, and since the original ID is deleted it is unusable.Only one person has mentioned their CC being "unusable" and it looks like he was talking about rewards points being gone from his account.
I've just posted the ToS. Which takes all of 2 minutes to find.... and it just seems funny that those bitching, can't search/read.
Nothing BB has done is illegal, yet... all in the ToS.
The *warranty* issue is the only questionable thing. and again, people have only bitched about them being gone.... nobody has been able to verify by actually calling BB or trying to use the warranty.
The warranties not showing up online can just be because the account being removed, still 100% possible this was an oversight and will be corrected. Canceling the actual warranty does require a 60 day notice from BB (their own ToS)
Most likely monday morning at BB Corporate someone is going to have a huge headache to deal with.
Warranties should still be valid, just temporarily not showing up on the account due to the purge.
All of this could have been avoided if they did the work to communicate to members on a individual basis about issues related to GCU. They had the tools to monitor and force limitations and decided against it. Scalpers/flippers were not the issue as someone previously said, they would be smart enough to purchase multiple GCU accounts. Instead they decided to take a nuclear approach to everything related to GCU because they can now.
