Big Daddy Cool's wrestling topic
Angle doesn't look like himself. Look at his eyes. It looks like he's not there. That's pretty scary.
I didn't want to play it up but he made me and my sister uncomfortable as hell.

There's more to that TV story then I originally posted.
On a small TV, they had old matches from the Attitude era (I noticed Stone Cold and an unblurred WWF sign) playing which Kurt was watching rather intensely (that man has the scariest glare I have ever seen) when people weren't bothering him.
This happened when we were next in line. A larger family were ahead of us. They got their autographs and were moving on to D-Von's side. Security didn't wave us forward, so we stood there.

The TV was behind us and he just glared at it with that death look for the next 4 minutes before finally shaking out of it and saying "are you guys ready?"

As I walked up, he grabbed a photo and just looked down at the paper with his hand ready to write. I was waiting for a "what's your name" or just name. Eventually I just said my name, he signed the photo, shook my hand, mustered up a smile. Then he signed one for my nephew.

After he did that, I asked if we could get a photo. Sure he said and slid out his chair a little bit. That's when I had to pick up Zander and try to balance him and get close enough behind the table for the photo.

Later on when I asked my sister why she didn't tell me my hair was blocking her shot and I swear to you her exact words were "I didn't want to take more time than I had to"

Like I said he mustered up a smile but his eyes were just dead and he gave off this cocky not here persona.

One of the weirdest encounters I have ever had with a wrestler (and I've had midget Booker T hit on and give my underage sister his phone number when we were younger) but it was awesome.
Woah, wait a minute. WTF is with that story?
A long time ago, the midget who played Booker T on Raw a few years back, was at a local baseball game signing autographs and stuff. He wasn't anybody really famous but he was a local in the indie scene around here.

Well, during the game, he took a shining to my (I guess 15?) year old sister and was hitting on her pretty hard. They were talking and eventually she asked if he could get a bunch of signatures of other wrestlers when he was on the road since I'm a massive fan. He said sure, slipped her his phone number and told her to stay in touch.

She did but I never got my autographs

He's a cool guy overall. One of the funniest memories was after a show at a carnival, he was riding around on a minibike having the time of his life.

It's one of the benefits of living down in Florida, there are always a ton of shows going on and a ton of wrestlers around since most of them live down here.
How much do you think that would help Konnan right now? Or hey let's not even go there
Now, I agree that Pacman is a colossal waste of money and a mentality of a style of booking that lost its cool half a decade ago, but I don't agree that this is a fair comparison.

I like Konnan as a wrestler and as a mentor, but I don't think that this is a "TNA's fault versus Konnan's fault" issue. TNA should have covered some of the expenses of his surgeries, but they are also not responsible, fully, for his condition. Hell, he hardly even wrestled in TNA (as part of 3LK and that's about it, I think), so the brunt of his abuse happened in AAA and WCW. Of course, if you want to argue about paying for Sonjay Dutt's health care, that may be another argument altogether.

In a rare show of optimism, I hope that signing Pacman is an indication that TNA has enough money to burn that they'll be in business for a long time. A long time, that is, if they avoid this bullshit booking style. They have something good on their hands as a booking foundation (look at how they have used 4 hours of TV a month to build damn near *every* match on each PPV, compared to WWE's 20 hours a month of programming, where they push (at best) 2-3 matches ahead of time. I think that TNA could be great, but their booking committee needs to hire an additional person, whose only job is to stand up and yell "THE ATTITUDE ERA IS DEAD YOU DUMB BASTARDS!" at the appropriate times at booking meetings.

EDIT: Triple Mania XV is on today! Huzzah!

Why don't you just wait for Wrestlemania tickets to go on sale? I believe it's going to happen some time in November.

I'm not saying they should or shouldn't pay for Konnan. There is a lot more to the story on both sides and I can't make that call. I'm just saying helping him out would be a better use for the cash than to give it to someone who:

A. doesnt need it and
B. is already less useful than Konnan before making one appearance.

and I use the word give. I mean according to the court ruling he can pretty much stand there and talk... and that's it. He can't even be a ring side enforcer for a match because of the "no touchy" policy in effect would kill any sense of him being able to do anything. I'm not even sure he's allowed to get in the ring to make a 3 count as some kind of guest ref. I mean use the money on advertising.. Advertise in Maxim or something... that would get more viewers than Pacman.

Crap.. I always forget about AAA. I need to set a Tivo for this...

Amazing opening match on the TNA PPV in the three way between Motor Machine Guns vs XXX vs Dutt/Lethel.

OMFG RAVEN!!! RAVEN!!! RAVEN!!! YES RAVEN IS BACK ON TNA PPV!!!! YES RAVEN!!!! RAVEN!!!!!!!

I don't know how I was so into this for a long while. I went to the Nitro show when they were here(got floor tix n saw Jeff Jarrett's guitar go by n watched most of the show on the jumbotron) and I WAS tempted to go to the Raw show(where McMahons limo blew up) just recently, but for the amount I watch wrestling these days it wasn't worth it.

Oh and btw....they blew the limo up a night or two before and did a craptastic job of editing the video cause if you notice about 20-30 seconds after it first blows up many of the side panels are scorched already.

Lucky.

I can only blow my money load on the WM tickets.
That Angle pic rules - it's a shame it just shows how much better the faux-IWGP belt looks compared to the TNA belt.
Weird thing was, he only had the TNA belt with him (or at least in the open) at the signing.

He was just on TV three days ago, hombre. It's not like it's Y2J or RVD debuting.

;)

I'm curious to see how Dustin Rhodes turns out. I like the "psychotic/codependent" character they're doing with him (all the buildup except the "you stole my spot" talk w/ Chris Harris) - nevertheless, I fear another "Se7en" moment happening.

I just had to bring back some memories of my Raven markout days. Besides it seems like forever since Raven has had a match on a TNA PPV.

Hopefully that is not the case. However I got a bad bad bad feeling about this.

Raven lost.

It was his best in ring work in a LONG time however.

Is he still fat or has he gotten back into ring shape?

Also anybody know if a stream of this is going on anywhere?

He's in shape, considering he has a swollen thyroid.
Is he still fat or has he gotten back into ring shape?
He looked somewhere between A and B on Impact. At the very least, he went back tot the jean shorts and leather jacket look. I understand the idea of the Raven character, but still am a sucker for the "classics."

Ah, I didn't know he had a condition.

YES! I found a stream! :applause:

His eyes.. just scary.

Note that he's wearing an Affliction shirt. I wonder if he's going to try and get them to sponsor him if he ever makes a run at MMA.

i was a huge fan of the flock back in wcw...then they made Raven a spoiled rich kid and basically ripped apart his whole character..i've been watching TNA for a couple of months wondering what happened to him.. I'd like to see him more..

mykevermin, the belt Angle has isn't the true IWGP title right now - it WAS the belt, but Lesnar refused to job, so he took it, and then lost it to Kurt at the IGF debut show. On 9/8, Angle-Lesnar is planned again for the belt, which would require Kurt to fly back right after the show to do the TNA PPV. It also really minimizes the chances that Joe's winning tonight, as the "IWGP" title is part of the main event title match.

Some WOL news - Killings is back with TNA, and the reason that Rick Steiner lost in that match at Slammiversary was because Animal wouldn't job after being told that he wouldn't have to, which is how they got him to agree to come to that show.

I was reading about how our national roller derby association (which we recently were accepted into) signed a contract to televise the east coast tourney and national tourney on a channel called Mav TV. I'd never heard of it, but it seems like a Spike TV for even bigger meatheads kinda channel.

At any rate, they do show NWA wrestling on it, which is admittedly pretty cool. Good quality videos, and the production seems to have taken its style 10% from the old Mid-South/Jim Crockett-era NWA. The set looks like the old set, one of the announcers is clearly glomming Gordon Solie's style (not a bad thing at all, even if he isn't the master of the "suplee"). Pretty neat stuff, IMO, and worth checking out. I'm curious how up-to-date the free programming they're showing is (the first show started off w/ Adam Pearce talking about the NWA Heritage Title, but since they recently reclaimed the NWA Heavyweight and World Tag Titles, I would imagine they'd be pushing those is the show was recent).

EDIT: Interesting facts about Animal, Jay. I glimpsed over a war of words he and Heidenreich have been having online recently. I can't say I ever liked Heidenreich, let alone the blasphemy of making him an LOD guy; but, the more I read about it, the more he comes off looking like a sap, and Animal looks like one grade-A asshole. Him jobbing doesn't refute that either.

Killings being back, IMO, introduces a small modicum of likelihood that Konnan may return at some point.

the steiners match was awesome..

and the punisher came out to trytan's old song.... ironically everyone thought test was going to be trytan

Trytan. If you've been watching the OVW shows, Trytan is the guy in the Mankind-lookin' mask going by "Jacob Duncan" these days. A TALL-TALL-TALL mofo in person, but he's got a funny shaped head. Wasn't he TNA red shirt security back in the days of masturbating midgets?
He looked somewhere between A and B on Impact. At the very least, he went back tot the jean shorts and leather jacket look. I understand the idea of the Raven character, but still am a sucker for the "classics."
Truth be told, we never saw anything like Raven in professional wrestling -- his look was truly one of a kind.

he was that glacier looking guy... they were hyping him up and when he debuted he sucked ass

his song was bad ass though.. and it looks like test is using it now

All I remember about Trytan was his horrible F5 being called a T3, and a Monty Brown promo on him focusing on Trytan going home to visit Mork from Ork. Damn I miss those great, completely insane, Monty Brown promos.

alright... well i went the ebay route..

stayed up late to guarantee my ticket.. got a similar ticket for 172.. section 24

im glad i was able to avoid paying more than 200...and having to pay cash up front. im going to email the craigslist guy now and tell him my flight got cancelled or something..

Decent PPV all around... somewhat of an overabundance of heel wins though...

It's a shame how much of a chump they're making Joe out to be. Sure, he went down dirty but it's starting to seem like they don't have faith in him as a HW champion. A shame really... hopefully this means that the X-Division will get the spotlight again but even that's doubtful. :\

I noticed 2 other wrestling shows on there as well: Adrenaline Unleased Pro Wrestling Surge (whew... quite the mouth full) and XCW out of Texas. I'd also like to point out that the Wrestling Channel button/picture on the site is clearly a WWE picture showing Umaga vs someone else. :)
Sylvain was on SmackDown!, last week, wasn't he?
Yep, but he jobbed to Kane. It was pretty much decided last week he was going to be canned. They pulled his "manager" from his dark matches, Maryse, away and she's basically in storyline limbo right now.
