Thought this was worthy of a new thread. Its back! And with a vengeance. As of this writing its at [see title]. Link

And for those that dont know, the amount of uses for this promotion seems to be doubling at a steady rate, now at 40 uses per account, and the maximum amount you can get back PER A SINGLE TRANSACTION was reduced from $250 to $200. The total culmulative cashback allowance is capped at $2,500.00 per calendar year.

How this works:

If you dont already know about this, its a very simple promotion offered by Microsoft in order to promote usage of their search engine live.com. All you have to do is go to www.live.com and search for something common, like "Wii" as in nintendo wii. In the Sponsored sites at the top you will see a link to Wii's on ebay with a small logo next to it that says Live Search Cash Back and below that "You may get xx% off paypal eligible". When you click on the cash back logo it takes you to ebay and BIN (Buy It Now) auctions for Wiis. From there you simply use the ebay search function to find the BIN auction for the item you desire and purchase it. When you click the BIN button prior to clicking on Commit to buy you should see a message below with the Cash Back you are eligible to recieve. Once you buy the auction pay for it with paypal and give it an hour. Eventually you'll get a message in your ebay account saying "You've earned cashback" simply click on it and follow the instructions. If you dont have one you'll be asked to create a live account. I believe most people will already have an existing live acct due to their Xbox, MSN, or Hotmail associations so feel free to use that if you like. This is quick, and thus far i havent gotten any spam due to it, nor have i read of anyone getting any spam. And thats it, 60 + 15 days later [they allow a buffer period incase you return what you bought] you can redeem the money.

So to summarize

1. use live.com search engine to find any product on ebay. Any keyword is as good as another, hence i used "wii" as an example.

2. Once activating the link use ebay.com to browse for the Buy It Now auction you desire and purchase and pay with paypal. Wait until you get a message from ebay and get your cash back with your live account. This can take a few hours.

3. ~75 days later its in your pocket. [60 days before you can redeem and then an additional 2 weeks before it actually transfers into your paypal account]

Again this is just a promotion by MS to promote use of their search engine, theres no catch. You dont have to promise your first born nor random legs or limbs. Its as simple as it sounds.

Some things to note

-This promotion is limited to only US residents.

-You must pay with paypal and it must be a BIN auction.

-It takes about 75 days to recieve the actual money which will be in the form of a FEE FREE deposit into your paypal account. From there you can spend it or transfer it into your checking or simply request a check.

-If you return the item you purchased and used the promotion on you LOSE the refund.

-This is only valid for Ebay user/store auctions on Ebay.com. No live auction or ebay motors etc.. Though i think you can get away with buying international auctions you're watching on ebay.com. I also noticed that this works if you're offered a "Second chance" on an item you bid on since it turns the auction into a BIN.

-You may only use this a maximum of 40 times per ebay account per person. A few people are reporting success using different ebay accounts with the same cashback account in order to achieve more than 20 uses. YMMV.

-Maximum of $200 back PER AUCTION [$2,500 Cap per account] and the percent savings does vary and can change without notice.

Rest of the terms are here:
http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html

I recommend at least skimming them. Enjoy.

Couple additions

"Instant" Cashback is now available. However, to quote "Instant cashback will be eligible for some, but not all users." Its unknown what the criteria is to be "eligible". I would not suggest you make a purchase unless you dont mind waiting.

Ebay/Paypal Coupons WILL stack with this. The amount is deducted off the full auction value. IE 10% Coupon applied to $100 purchase will save you $10. If the Cashback percent is 25% you will still get $25 additional back for a total savings of $35. Usually the Ebay/Paypal coupons have a maximum savings of $100 for a maximum total of $300 saved on any single purchase. This also stacks with other promotions run by Bigcrumb/ebates where you can earn some more money back based on an items selling fees.
Crap! The Live cashback account shows $0! Does most people's account initially look like this and requires a day or so?

Edit: Looks like everybody takes a day or two to process. OK. I'll try to calm down. :/
Mine showed up in the Live account this morning. Thanks, CAG!
Good to go
Thanks.
Yeah it is. Did you seriously spend $380 on a Wacom Table though!?!?!!?!

Yeah but that's my dream tablet and it's already at an academic discount.
I'm spending $273 total after cashback for a $450 retail product. :D
My 7 year old Graphire2 is ready to kick the bucket if I didn't need a new one I would have bought an Xbox360 instead but that will have to wait for now.
I'm pretty sure I got ripped off. I accidentally bought an OPEN BOX PS3. It was 4am and I was tired and stressed and jumped at this without reading properly. Well, I read it as well as the feedback but didnt pay enough attention. JFJGKDFJGD
Why do you feel you got ripped off?
Tried looking at some gift cards. Everyone is tacking on a lot for their cards. Pay 400 for the 300 card and in the end it only costs 280. SUPER DEAL!

then you get to wait 60 days for the cashback all for 20 buckaroos!!
Glad to see I'm not the only one annoyed about that.

Almost all BIN auctions are overpriced, regardless of what they are.

i went ahead and bought Guitar Hero World Tour from Red Octane... its the 360 band kit and after the 30% its 164$ i think... not saving that much but it does come with a few extras and free shipping. if i got it from gamestop + tax it could have been 200+. and i dont have to pick up the box frm the store either, so all in all i think i got a good deal.

also buying it from RED OCTANE basically gurantees that you're getting one, also there are some extras as mentioned before- a shirt, a keychain, and some other crap but what the hey ill take it
Do Buy it now or best offer auctions work with the cashback?
Only BIN, best offer does NOT work
Does this require paying using paypal funds or is it ok to use a credit card through paypal?
Yes, I've paid with credit card twice and got the money no problem.
Do Buy it now or best offer auctions work with the cashback?
This is only for BIN auctions. It doesn't work with best offers or regular auctions.

quick question, is it 30% off the total amount, including shipping, or just the merchandise amount? That can make a big difference
quick question, is it 30% off the total amount, including shipping, or just the merchandise amount? That can make a big difference
Merchandise only, not shipping. One thing of note: if you use a coupon to bring the price down, the cashback is still based on the original price before coupon.

I keep thinking about using this to get a cheap 360, but im amazed at the amount of console only, and just general shit auctions.

Are you referring to a specific coupon? Please share.
Picked up a MGS4 LE 80gb PS3 for 317.50 after cashback. Thanks OP!
Hopefully you're not being scammed, I just don't see how the seller could have gotten all of those LE MGS PS3's and sell them $50 below retail with free shipping.

Whoops. Think I misspoke. It's the LE 80gb bundle (BC), not the gunmetal grey (non-BC) one. Does that make more sense? I agree it's a low price, but the seller I got it from hadn't sold much else in the way of video game hardware. Mostly a wide range of electronics, looking at their feedback. Mine also didn't have free shipping . . . maybe you're looking at another seller?

My fingers are crossed that they simply didn't know what they were selling. They saw other 80gb systems (now retailing for 399.99) and priced as such. I sure hope so anyway.

If people are looking for gift cards why don't a couple CAGs sell some to each other with the paypal and ebay fees tacked on so that everyone comes out even/ahead? I can understand how frustrating it is seeing $500 gift cards go for $580.

On the other hand, some are way cheaper than expected like this one here for $64.4 RARE ToV wow:

I am still looking for something to buy though since I am not able to find anything that I do not have or really need.

question say that i just used my 6th one, can i simply make a new hotmail account, new ebay account and go ahead and buy using this again since its new live account etc?
question say that i just used my 6th one, can i simply make a new hotmail account, new ebay account and go ahead and buy using this again since its new live account etc?
Yes. I even used the same paypal account and it didn't matter. But I did use my 2nd ebay account and another email address for my Live.com account.

hey, I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a rule against buying from the same person twice. If I bought someting say a few weeks ago using cashback, and then the same seller was selling something else and I wanted it.

could i do cashback again?

Love that this cash back deal showed up in time for this weekend. Picked up 2 new DS Lites for my kids for XMas, a GPS, a set of Bose Triports and a 16GB iPod touch. Nice thing is the cash back will be enough to cover almost all my game preorders into next year.

Alright, Im not sure what Im doing wrong here, but Im not getting any type of Cashback confirmation after I hit BIN but before Confirming the purchase.

-I'm signed in with both my ebay and live cashback account.
-I've even updated my cashback account payment preferences with the paypal account I want them to deposit into.

I've tried with multiple sellers and different items, but still no cashback message as the OP states? Am I missing something, or is this normal and should I just go through with the purchase?

Just bought Fable 2 for $60.79 - 30% = $42.55 with free shipping :D 100% seller feedback, pretty damn good deal if you ask me :D

Did you pay for the purchases through PayPal yet? If not, once you do, you should see a message from eBay with the subject "You've earned cashback" in your eBay Messages.

Not sure if you are talking to me but the message(s) take a little while to show up. My other two purchases showed up in a day or so and my cashback account the same.

I have yet to hit "Commit to Buy", the furthest I've gone is the page just after BIN, where it gives you the item with the BIN price and the shipping price, along with the forms of accepted payment, etc.

Yup, as long as you see that "30% cashback Microsoft banner" that says how much cashback you'd be receiving on the "Commit to Buy" page, then all you've got to do is take the plunge ;), hit "Commit to Buy", then pay for the item through PayPal. Like SynGamer said, it make take awhile for the message to appear in your eBay Messages. Also, when you log into your Live.com Cashback account, you probably will see cashback pending is $0.00 for a day or two. The whole process is totally scary, but when you see that cashback pending (and it countdowns how many days until you get the money back), it's all worthwhile!

The thing is, Im not seeing that "30% cashback banner" >_

In fact, I do not see any type of banner.

If you're using Firefox and have Ad block on, it blocks it. Just an FYI, I've figured out. Don't open it in Firefox and it works fine.

I had that problem the banner not showing up.
I had to turn off privacy control in my firewall then it showed up.

So how long did the Live Search Cashback for Ebay last the first time? I wasn't around for it.
Have any idea how long the 30% will last? Because I'd rather save my 4 remaining cashbacks for some more expensive items that I can't get now.

I've tried on Firefox, but Im currently using IE6 >_< If it is in fact my browser, I might just borrow my housemate's pc or something...

Ah, of course, Norton, you've screwed me again. Had to turn off it off temp to get it to show up, I wonder why it registers as a security threat? Finally got it to go through, now I need to figure out 5 more things to buy hehe...Anyways, thanks everyone for all their help in answering my questions :D
