Thought this was worthy of a new thread. Its back! And with a vengeance. As of this writing its at [see title]. Link

And for those that dont know, the amount of uses for this promotion seems to be doubling at a steady rate, now at 40 uses per account, and the maximum amount you can get back PER A SINGLE TRANSACTION was reduced from $250 to $200. The total culmulative cashback allowance is capped at $2,500.00 per calendar year.

How this works:

If you dont already know about this, its a very simple promotion offered by Microsoft in order to promote usage of their search engine live.com. All you have to do is go to www.live.com and search for something common, like "Wii" as in nintendo wii. In the Sponsored sites at the top you will see a link to Wii's on ebay with a small logo next to it that says Live Search Cash Back and below that "You may get xx% off paypal eligible". When you click on the cash back logo it takes you to ebay and BIN (Buy It Now) auctions for Wiis. From there you simply use the ebay search function to find the BIN auction for the item you desire and purchase it. When you click the BIN button prior to clicking on Commit to buy you should see a message below with the Cash Back you are eligible to recieve. Once you buy the auction pay for it with paypal and give it an hour. Eventually you'll get a message in your ebay account saying "You've earned cashback" simply click on it and follow the instructions. If you dont have one you'll be asked to create a live account. I believe most people will already have an existing live acct due to their Xbox, MSN, or Hotmail associations so feel free to use that if you like. This is quick, and thus far i havent gotten any spam due to it, nor have i read of anyone getting any spam. And thats it, 60 + 15 days later [they allow a buffer period incase you return what you bought] you can redeem the money.

So to summarize

1. use live.com search engine to find any product on ebay. Any keyword is as good as another, hence i used "wii" as an example.

2. Once activating the link use ebay.com to browse for the Buy It Now auction you desire and purchase and pay with paypal. Wait until you get a message from ebay and get your cash back with your live account. This can take a few hours.

3. ~75 days later its in your pocket. [60 days before you can redeem and then an additional 2 weeks before it actually transfers into your paypal account]

Again this is just a promotion by MS to promote use of their search engine, theres no catch. You dont have to promise your first born nor random legs or limbs. Its as simple as it sounds.

Some things to note

-This promotion is limited to only US residents.

-You must pay with paypal and it must be a BIN auction.

-It takes about 75 days to recieve the actual money which will be in the form of a FEE FREE deposit into your paypal account. From there you can spend it or transfer it into your checking or simply request a check.

-If you return the item you purchased and used the promotion on you LOSE the refund.

-This is only valid for Ebay user/store auctions on Ebay.com. No live auction or ebay motors etc.. Though i think you can get away with buying international auctions you're watching on ebay.com. I also noticed that this works if you're offered a "Second chance" on an item you bid on since it turns the auction into a BIN.

-You may only use this a maximum of 40 times per ebay account per person. A few people are reporting success using different ebay accounts with the same cashback account in order to achieve more than 20 uses. YMMV.

-Maximum of $200 back PER AUCTION [$2,500 Cap per account] and the percent savings does vary and can change without notice.

Rest of the terms are here:
http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html

I recommend at least skimming them. Enjoy.

Couple additions

"Instant" Cashback is now available. However, to quote "Instant cashback will be eligible for some, but not all users." Its unknown what the criteria is to be "eligible". I would not suggest you make a purchase unless you dont mind waiting.

Ebay/Paypal Coupons WILL stack with this. The amount is deducted off the full auction value. IE 10% Coupon applied to $100 purchase will save you $10. If the Cashback percent is 25% you will still get $25 additional back for a total savings of $35. Usually the Ebay/Paypal coupons have a maximum savings of $100 for a maximum total of $300 saved on any single purchase. This also stacks with other promotions run by Bigcrumb/ebates where you can earn some more money back based on an items selling fees.

Just made my 2nd cashback order off ebay and got the 30% credited to my paypal account right away! Didn't even have to wait the 60 days unlike my 1st purchase. And on top of that, I combined it using the 10% ebay coupon they emailed me.

Is this a new policy? Or is everyone else getting their paypal accounts credited right away?

Awesome! 30%. BTW, I used the CHOLIDAYNOV2008 and I have NOT received an email. It worked perfectly.

EDIT: No... it didn't. It was fine on checkout until I logged into Paypal and then it gave me an error... what the hell.

So does anybody know why I could only get 9 single uses/items out of this (for $250)? I emailed the cashback customer service 5 days ago. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

picked up fallout 3 and got the live cashback within 3 minutes.. sent from MSFT to paypal and already in account!

i don't know why purchases now are bypassing the 60 day wait .. but it's great!

My cashback is pending... but it also says that I won't have to request it. I guess they'll automatically credit it to me once the 60 days are up?
CloggerdudeThat's about the best you're going to find if that is including shipping.

I actually lucked out and found a 60gig for $330 shipped, but it ended up not working out because the girl had problems with Paypal. Would have been an awesome deal though.

Just keep a look out and don't be too impatient. Eventually a really good deal will come along. Of course, we don't know how long the Cashback will stay at 30%, so don't wait too long.

I would say buy the brand new PS3 from buy.com's Ebay listing if you wanted to play it safe, but it looks like it was just bought today.

They use a 3rd party checkout system.

as far as i know, you can use the 10% stackable email coupon even if you did not receive it. i gave it to my boss who order some stuff and told me it worked for him and he didnt receive the email

I went ahead and bought a 16gb Sandisk microSD for $58.95. Cash back: $17.69. Since I put it on my PenFed card I also got another 1.25% :)

Total cost: $40.52, not too bad at all really.

My rebate was unfortunately not instant.

That's what was said at the beginning of this thread, but several pages ago some people said it worked. I tried it today and got 30% off an Xbox Live Gold Card just fine, so it looks like buy.com is acceptable. It is just Buy It Now and PayPal, after all.

They must have changed that because I couldn't get it working a few weeks ago, and I had to request a refund.

Finally picked up a new DS from gogamers.com's ebay page for under $100 shipped thanks to cashback. Can't wait to mess around with the Korg DS-10 coming from Amazon!

So I should be getting my money back from a few items. When I go to my account thought, the item still says pending but says 0 days left. What is the problem and how to I get my cashback?

This morning I received 30% instant cash back into my Paypal account. No waiting, no hassle. I made three purchases, all buy-it-now, all paid with my Paypal funds. The cash back I received is already in my account, ready to use.

Contact them, and let me know how this works out. Still a little warry of the $100s of spent and expect back on this deal. Just would be pissed if I am passing up on great deals in store for this cash back deal and then get screwed on this.

Hey hadnt noticed this post. You dont mean it was like instant or within a few days do you? I am imagining you mean you got it after the like 60 days?

Got Endwar (region free) (360) for originally $40 shipped but with cashback and the 10% off coupon the total was $24 shipped.
I say that's a good deal no?

He probably meant instant as in a day or less. Many people have reported getting cash back right away in the last week or so. No one knows what triggers it yet.

Nope - I received instant cashback from Paypal. I noticed that the seller must accept Paypal checkout for the cashback to be instant.
They must have changed that because I couldn't get it working a few weeks ago, and I had to request a refund.
FYI, buy.com on eBay advertises the cashback now.

Damn, I could have saved some money on my computer. Oh well, I've been using my new box for a few weeks now, so I guess I paid a premium to have it a bit sooner :)

I just purchased a bunch of import PS2 games, 4 transactions. All were credited immediately to my PayPal account.
I didn't get instant cashback on my DS. Hope it takes less than 60 days though.
It won't take less or more than 60 days. It should take exactly 60 days. They do that so you can't return the item.
Yay, used black ds lite for $60! This is an awesome promotion. I hope it never ends. Why is MS giving away free money?
because they can and they want to promote live search

Do you think it'd be possible that they'd pull the rug out from under us and not give us any of the money?

Just got an instant cashback of $120.00 for a guitar I just ordered. I wasn't expecting an instant one when I paid for the guitar 20 minutes ago, but there it was in my PayPal account (now on its way to my bank account). When did they start doing instant cashbacks? I'm still waiting through that 60-day period for another order I made in October, but I got this in only a few minutes.

Anyways, awesome. I love eBay and Live Search. :D

God this is tempting. I could get a 32GB 2nd Gen iPod for ~$220 with shipping.

But I don't need it and I need to save money - AAAAAH!!!
Do you think it'd be possible that they'd pull the rug out from under us and not give us any of the money?
I doubt it, but until money is in my hand I am always kind of nervous, especially when dealing with the $120+ I probably have coming. I really dont see it happening, but I could see glitches or other things making it a head ache.

And yes this deal is hella tempting....all sorts of stuff I really dont need but am still tempted to buy knowing it will be the best deal ill get on these items for some time. For instance I have a backlog of dozens of games....so the last thing I need to do is buy a whole new freaking system.....yet a Wii for $160 is temping and a PS3 for $230 is even more so(God I want to play R&C!).

Just as they do instant cash back, I have $4 or so sitting in my cashback account waiting to be transfered. Of course, for some reason they had to implement at $5 min, so now its basically locked until I can somehow get another $1 into my cashback acct -_-

I'm under the $5 limit with my previous purchases and the instant cash back I just got didn't do anything to my previous (still pending) balance.

Well, I did the cashback a while ago. It took two months, but sure as hell the 25% at the time was given to me in my paypal account. I can definitely vouch for the live cashback program. Wish there was something on ebay that would give me a reason to use the 30% or whatever it's at now.

Anyone see any good PS3 deals? The many 40gb deals aren't doing it for me.

Hate to ask but I remeber somewhere in this thread maybe, that someone explained how to get it to work easier...

Theres something I want on ebay but Im having a hard time getting anything to show up on ebay related to get to it and thus earn the cashback....

If someone could break that down again Id appreciate it.

^ Cheat. Go to live.com and look up any sort of item that might be on Ebay, and one of the first results will be an Ebay link with a coin next to it.

Also, after I had made my purchase, I had to click on a link in my Ebay account inbox to make the discount appear on my Cashback account.

thats right...get any ebay thing to show up..use another browser with what you wanted and just copy and paste the link over etc...thanks

Anyone know if there's a way to use Live Cashback in China (I'm still paying from my USA PayPal and shipping to the USA)? I'm here for a week and using a Proxy website doesn't work when I click on the eBay Cashback link.

when i think search engine.. i definitely dont go to live.. i think google has gotten too big for that..

but i will keep using this as long as its around.. this rules~!

i still say this is deal of the year....

and lastly i wonder if we'll ever get 35% off again... and how long 30 will be around..

Picked up a new 80GB PS3 for $435 with 30% Cashback and a 15% Ebay coupon for a grand total of $239.25. Just wanted to thank the CAG community for keeping me updated on this great deal.
