I agree about the fact that eventually many games just become impossible to find. It seems like for any decent game the value will go down after it has been out for awhile to try to sell more copies, then it will hover at next to nothing for an extremely long time, then will skyrocket as the game becomes nearly impossible to find. Ico is a great example- I can't tell you how many times I've had the opportunity to buy this game for cheap. I played a demo of the game many years ago and liked it at a time when no one really knew about it. Now if I want this old PS2 game it's at least $30. Not terrible but it's not
Final Fantasy X seemed to bump up in price lately...it's $20 used at gamestop now. I never played it and recently unearthed a PS2, so I want to get it, but that seems pricey. Hell, FFXII is only $12.
On the backlog thing, if I can find a game for under $20 that I really want, I'll buy it, even if I know I won't play it for a little while. My pricepoint for games I'm kinda interested in would be $10. After that, the game isn't going to depreciate that much more, if at all.
