You don't live anywhere near Cincinnati, do you? I was just at the Kenwood store, to no avail. Did pick up a 25th Anniversary Snake Eyes and Timber, tho.
The PC LE has been taken off Gamestop's site... so I preordered it in store. Hopefully it won't be an issue getting it.
Yea I noticed that a couple days ago. From what I heard, it just sold out online, that's why it's not there anymore.

Hopefully I have no problem getting it in store either.

Apparently, they actually meant Limited with this LE. Well, I'm absolutely committed to getting this game right away now, I guess.
EDIT: Same here Appossum. During what time is this game supposed to take place? I know Rapture was created during the 40s or 50s....but what about the outside world?
There seem to be an inconsistency about that. Rapture was built in 1946, there doesn't seem to be any contradiction to that. But for the time period you're playing there does seem to be a conflict between the website and the demo. Your ship sinks in 1960, that's clear. I forget the month but it shows you that as well. That's reasonable because when you're in that bar in Rapture there's a fallen banner that reads "Happy New Year 1959" so it's been about a year and a half since Rapture collapsed. However, the website says that "At one point Rapture's population numbered several thousand at its peak during the early 1960s". That clearly cannot be correct if the game is set in 1960. I'm assuming the website is in error here since the in game evidence is far greater than one date on a website. I would check the forums but I'm getting database errors trying to load the page.

I got a copy at lunch at the Paramus NJ TRU. I didn't mess with any of the Madden nonsense, just paid my $60. They had a few copies left for anyone in the area.

It is tough deciding whether to keep my BioShock CE pre-order at GS or get Madden and BioShock at TRU for only $8 more. Madden vs. CE contents...:headache:

I already have my collectors edition of bioshock paid for in full with store credit at my job, so I guess I'll wait until we get it in. madden didn't really impress me this year anyway.

No, sorry. For any NE Ohio CAGs, it was the TRU on Howe Avenue in Cuyahoga Falls.
Posters on Neogaf are reporting that another poster from IGN called a TRU and said his store confirmed that all TRUs should be selling Bioshock as of today.

.
BS for the the TRU's in the northgate mall, the one in Bellevue ,and the one southcenter in WA state :(

Game has been leaked out to the TORRENTS dun DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNN but i wouldn't call it leaked really considering they sold it early :)
paramus nj on route 17 had them but some douchebag came and bought the last five of them.

:bomb:
What's the point of that? It's not like they have any value above what he paid...

Oh yeah?

I'm thinking of going to the Florence, KY TRU to try it out, but am lacking the wherewithal to do so.
Wow. Some people truly have some impulse control issues.

$109.99 for a game that will be out in less than a week? It's not like the damned thing is going to be released in limited quantities, like the LE. Sheesh.

This LE auction for $100, that's understandable:
Wow. People are dumb.
The faceplates, those are limited, so that I expect to go for a few bucks. LE's for people that didn't pre-order, also something I can see going for a few bucks.

The regular version of the game, which might be available today, worst case Tuesday, and you're paying 2x retail? Damned idiots.

Yep. I'm gonna head to TRU because I want to play the hell out of this game, not for a quick $100 that someone will instantly regret. I'm not very nice, but I'm not an asshole, either.

Yeah. That was my post from a couple hours ago. Apparently most of the TRU stores now got calls and e-mails from corporate to stop the sale of Bioshock early.
I just called my TRU and they said they got a cease and disist from M$ holy shit.
Hmm. I wonder why MS would call...

Not developed or published by them.

No luck at the TRU on Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua. The clerk was an asshole about it too. When I asked him he sighed and agrily said "NO, we DON'T have Bioshock, people have been asking all day and it's getting REALLY annoying". I would've unleashed on him for being such a dick, but there was a big line of little kids behind me, so I thought it would be best not to.

So I went to Gamestop and reserved the LE; the guy guaranteed me a copy on launch day.

No offense but have you ever worked retail?

Sometimes you gotta cut the employee a break. Think about it. That guy's probably been asked hundreds of times today. But the part where he said "it's getting really annoying" is a bit excessive.

Yes, I work retail. I get asked stupid questions over and over again everyday, and I never react that way. They're a customer with a question. There's no need to get mad.

No I agree, there is no need to react that way. But there's also no reason to give him shit for it.

Maybe not, but I still would have. I really have no sympathy for cashiers who condescend me for asking a simple question.

No dice. He had them, but said he couldn't sell them. Even looked at me as I walked in said "Bioshock, huh?" He was polite about it, so no loss. I did pick up Lego Star Wars II on the cheap, so yay me.

$109.99? I see some $140 and $150 sales there - for the regular version! Those people deserve to get fleeced... morons...

I haven't even gotten around to playing the demo yet. I can't see any reason to pay $90 over retail to get the actual game 5 days early.
First, why in the hell would you worry about seeing where the reflections are coming from? You're just looking for reasons to not like this game, which is fine if that's what makes you happy. I just hope you don't do it with every game or you'll never be satisfied.

As far as the whole, crazy, "ooh, drugs!" bit, until we see how that part plays out in the complete game, I'm reserving judgement. Yes, it seems hasty in the demo. At the same time, it's been said many times before that the demo is not necessarily exactly the same as the initial parts of the game. It's intended to be a teaser, not to plumb the depths of what the main character is going through emotionally and physically.
Um ok why would I worry? Well when a graphical "standard" has been set by let's say a game like Doom 3 (on xbox no less) you'd expect that games released after it and on a more powerful system would do certain things as good if not better. There's three (graphical) things that really matter in a game and that's lighting, shadows, and reflections if any one of those are off it can make a great game look like crap but if your eyes can't tell the difference you'll be happy playing with crap but I sure won't.

Looking for reasons not to like a game? That's just plain insanity. I constantly look for reasons to like games it's not my fault they can't take the time to polish the crap. I can see right past perfection and enjoy myself, but one flaw, one reflection that doesn't make sense catches my eye and annoys the fuck out of me. But anyway, in actuality I preordered the game from liongames.com so you're wrong I want to LOVE this game, as I don't drop $45 on many games at all.

I agree with you that this is a demo and it's a teaser and it's intended to wet my flibbin whistle, BUT it sure seems like the beginning of the game. I hope I'm wrong but like I said before "I really hope it's just the demo's fault that this story/game seems a lil rushed."

"They told me ... Son, You're special. You were born to do great things. You know what? ... They were right"

I haven't had a chance to play the demo yet, so can someone answer one question?

Is it creepy, or is it scary?

I love creepy games, such as Resident Evil 4, where the atmosphere is just imposing, the creatures warped, and so on, and you're sort of uncomfortable the whole time.

I hate scary games, like Doom 3, where shit just jumps out at you. They're boring because the atmosphere really holds no value.

I remember sometime last year watching a video of an early preview of bioshock with one of the creators (think it was Ken Levine) and he was explaining how, unlike most FPS's their goal was not to create the next jaw-dropping grapical engine to compete with the rest, as that would take up too much dev time. Instead, they focused on AI and environmental interaction type stuff.

This said, you can nitpick the hell out of the graphical effects not being up to par with the big boys all you want. But I would contend that the shock games have never been about the best graphics. They have been about gameplay. Just because it's an FPS, don't be confused into thinking otherwise. The gaming populace has been brainwashed the past few years into thinking each FPS game that comes out should offer some new level of graphic wow. And that's lame.

Personally, I feel that even though the engine may not stand up to other games released this year, it's art design is among the best, if not the best. And I would rather have awesome art design with a mediocre engine than the best graphical engine and bland art design.

It's creepy, not scary. There were a lot of nervous moments, but you never actually get scared.
It's creepy. There wasn't one time where I really got scared, but the whole time I was nervous about what would happen next.
Exactly.

Im loving it especially for $30...The demo begining is different from the real begining in terms of items. There isnt a fire power up in the bathroom etcc

I agree with you but the Doom 3 engine could do everything I was talking about and this is using the Unreal Engine 3.0 which I would imagine is much more adavanced. It just seems to me that simple things like say lights in the kitchen might be something you'd add to a level. They took the time to light the area and even had one of the lights flicker but there's no light fixtures anywhere. It doesn't take a degree to know how stupid lit areas look when there's no light "sources".
