BIOSHOCK - Gen. Discussion & Info
Im loving it especially for $30...The demo begining is different from the real begining in terms of items. There isnt a fire power up in the bathroom etcc
And the firefight isn't as large either. Also, there are no bots to hack or anything until the beginning of the second level. The demo does end exactly when the first level of the game ends though.
No go at the Nashville TRU. They have them, but the employees wouldn't budge because of the email they received telling them not to sell. Lame.
You can thank an over-excited guy from the Cool Springs store for that one. Apparently he took pride in mentioning that he called every TRU in TN and had them pull it off the shelf.

Hopefully his glee led to him not paying attention where he was driving on his way home and he wound up somewhere in TN where "city folks ain't welcome".

Seriously, someone's always got to be the party-pooper. Like suddenly his TRU salary will skyrocket and he'll be made district/regional manager. What a douche. If I ever find a plasmid in real life, I'm paying him a visit.

He probably called the Memphis TRU, they wouldn't sell either...

I don't know if the story's true or not. I just had a guy come in work and talk about it. He was saying how the employee was excitedly saying that the had them and even showed off one.. then mentioned that he couldn't sell it until the 21st and that he called all the stores in TN and told them to pull it off the shelf.

Ass.

im convinced that this demo red ringed my 360..
oh well, the graphics and sound with this game are stunning
i think i pissed my pants when i was playing with the lights off

Someone needs to fucking superkick that guy in the nuts

Walked in and pre-ordered the LE at Gamestop today. Ridiculously overpriced, but I'm trying to rid myself of all my credit to that god forsaken place because I dislike that chain with a passion.

I finally played the demo. It's OK I guess, just not my sort of thing. I was, however, very impressed with the graphics and, moreso, the art deco/creepy style to it. While I would have completely ignored a game like this in the past, I'm intrigued enough now to think about picking it up when it is is a PH title...
It says 10/10

Average user review says 4.7/10
I think 1up's user review thing is wrong. There's 6 reviews, 5 are 10s with 1 score of 8.
It says 10/10

Yeah, I was joking about that. You see, everyone expects the game to get a 10/10, so me saying it was a 4/10 was funny, since it wasn't true. And as everyone knows, things aren't true are very funny.

Well for those who have it please post how long it took to beat this because I won't have a 360 for a while because of the 3 red rings and want to know if this is worth buying or rental once I get my refurb 360.

Its amazing that a 10 hour single player only first person shooter could score so high around the board, in a world where most reviewers and game players demand online play, 40+ hour games etc etc .

That's actually a good point. I'm wondering how many reviews addressed this...

I'm not too concerned with MP or length because I pretty much only play Halo online, and games that are over 20 hours I never seem to finish. But I do think these are relevant points and I truly do hope reviewers address this.
This comment makes no sense to me.
Agreed.

Bioshock might have a better single player than any of the three Halo games (that remains to be seen), but the allure of the Halo series has always been it's multi-player, not really the story or single player.

Wish I could still pre-order the LE / CE, but I've denied at both my local EB and GS, so I guess I'm just going to pray I'm able to get it through Gamefly.

I can't understand how not having multiplayer is a bad thing in a game where the focus is on immersing you in an experience that would only work in a single player game. Hopefully no reviewers are taking away points for something so trivial.

The game is estimated to be 10-12 hrs. And it's an FPS. With no MP. So yeah. I'm not dissing Bioshock, but whoever originally posted that point made a good one.

i don't understand what length has to do with the quality of the experience. a game can be 60 hours long and be a tedious piece of shit(certain japanese RPG games) and a game can be about 4/5 hours long (MGS on PSX) and be god damn amazing.

My point was that It must be a hell of a game to score so high, despite its short length and lack of "features".

I'm all for it. Quality over quantity.

Added some photos to the OP. There has been sightings of broken figurines in the GameStop BioShock CE thread so make sure you check the figure in the box window before you leave the store.

Try 20 hours, it is virtually impossible to even rush through the game in 12 hours.

It is easily an 18 to 25 hour game.

QFT. Game length is the last thing on my list that I care about. Plus, you can have too much of a good thing where games that are amazing are still too long. *coughokamicough* 12-15 hours is the sweet spot to me as long as there's no filler.

good score from ign :applause:
been playing through it and its been amazing i wasnt even gonna get this game either

even my cousins enjoy it and they dont even play, instead they ask me to play because the game is just so fun to watch

has been well worth the 47 i payed at TRU yesterday(i didnt want madden so i didnt do that deal btw)

I Know most of you people love bioshock, and im not disrespecting that. I like a game that takes a solid week to beat. This is a 2 niter. Which is great for some, but to me, and this is MY OPINION, its a rent.
On the other hand, the story may be great. I haven't made my mind. I may be pleasntly supprised!

i already have the game coming in but im wishing i got the LE at gamestop now...especially since i signed the petition and all :(

damnit, this game comes out right at the start of my vacation, which is great but my freaking xbox died just in time to prevent me from enjoying it.

You are going to play 2 10hr sessions? You are more hardcore than I. :applause:

this game is really really hard not to buy now with such great reviews. Better come within the first week from gamefly. Better put the coffee on I'll be up.

I think Bioshock is going to end up as the best reviewed 360 game of all time, if this keeps up. 5 points higher than the next two games on Metacritic.com, GoW & Oblivion.

Kendro, thanks for posting the pics into the OP. Nice to see the packaging is even better than the Europe-specific pic from earlier. Big Daddy figure is even better than expected.
What if everything thinks Halo 3 is a 10? You can't underestimate bungie fanboyism.
We'll know in a month and a half, won't we?
