Will Best Buy price match Target or Walmart for BF prices?I’m too lazy to go to another store. I want that Cowabunga Collection on Switch for $20.

Someone mentioned PetSmart ajd now I'm probably going to spend more money on a new dog bed and some toys than the two PS5 games I picked up.

Hmm didn't know Walmart is selling new game "GS-new". Just got my Returnal delivered without sealed wrapping, and corner of the case cracked

Whoa, Walmart's holiday shipping is insane. Not only are they lenient on what qualifies for the free shipping amount, but are fulfilling orders from the closest stores via grocery delivery, just got my Link's Awakening I ordered last night.

Best Buy is also using local courier services for some of their stuff that is in local stores. I got one game next day because of it, but it isn't all of them.

Yeah, they're using Uber drivers here. As soon as I left for work this morning they told me my package is expected in less than an hour from my home and after I just ordered a soundbar last night.

Me too. Ordered Elden ring last night and it was here before noon today. Wild.

You act as if I should know (or care) who Dave Ramsey is.
I’ll give you a quick rundown. Dave Ramsey is a one trick pony snake oil salesman who claims to be about helping the average person get out of debt to make smart financial choices.

In reality, he came up with a basic plan of paying off your smallest debts first then applying that money to larger debts and then gets a whole bunch of people to repeat that nonsense. Never mind prioritizing interest rates, just pay the smallest payment first.

He’s wormed his way into the evangelical crowd and gets churches to hock his book and “program” as well. He also has a radio program where he berates callers for decisions already made (boy does he really hate student loans) and doesn’t really offer any meaningful solutions other than “buy my book and follow my program”.

If you’d like more information, at your next family get together (conveniently Thanksgiving is soon!), go ahead and throw out that you’re trying to pay off some debt. Inevitably, if your family is big enough you’ll get some uncle talking your ear off for an hour about Dave Ramsey.

I Have no fucking idea what this has to do with cheap games this week, but yeah sure. Gordan Ramsey's brother sounds like a total dick!

I agree with everything you said.

Just one minor nitpick---there is some value in paying lowest first IF when it is paid off, you roll that payment into the next one and so on.
The minor difference in interest is just that, minor.

I don't know what cash app is but it looks like I need to learn.
Yeah. It’s totally free and you just link it to your bank account. Can add money to your CashApp account/card instantly and can then get discounts at retailers. There’s usually 5% of PSN/Xbox Store purchases year round too. You select a retailer you’re purchasing from to apply a 5% to 10% “boost” off the purchase, then you’ll see that money come back into your account depending on your total purchase amount.

Some rewards apps really nerf electronics/video game percentages. Like 10% if you buy toys but 1% if it's video games, so it's good to doublecheck

All my BB orders came by Roadie courier (never heard of them before). My GameStop order came by DoorDash.

I ordered Sonic Frontier and Just Dance at 7pm last night and got to me 15 hours later at 10am. Crazy

Roadie has been in use for 3ish years now around me. It's just regular people in their cars like any other delivery service, UPS bought it last year I believe.

Weird to have my interest of finance and video games mush together, even on this site.

Pretty much got it right. The who snowball vs avalanche method for debt payoff is not that controversial. His point is that money is psychological (it really is) and his method gives you those small wins to encourage you to continue. After that, his "baby steps" are just annoying if not awful.

His investment advice is trash and is purely there to push people to his "advisors" who he gets a big fat check from. His radio show is just him berating as you said or making up huge strawman arguments to some how act "Christian-like" by attacking them at every go around.

Ramsey's snowball trick is great for some folks as it builds a mental momentum in accomplishing their debt free goals; it's a trick.  If you know to pay off debt in a prioritized basis of interest rate, you're probably not a target for his materials.

Everything beyond that is real bad having read a few of them.  If you want financial reading, I always recommend starting with Millionaire Next Door or Your Money or Your Life.

If anyone is trying to sell you on the morality of debt, be wary.  And if you take financial advice, only do so from some who has a fiduciary agreement.

Back to poor life choices, I bought some Steam games today with a gift card.  Otherwise, quiet week.

Can we just like...talk about games? Nobody cares about Dave Ramsey or financial advice. It's a video games forum, not financial planning.

The deals are just so slow and tepid this year, it seems like filler banter is the name of the game until Friday or Monday.

Best Buy actually discontinues post-purchase price match this time of year - Through January (so if it goes on sale cheaper next week at Best Buy they'll refuse to adjust). Good luck trying to get a price match with another store.

Picked up my ps5 and my Walmart didn't have any games out. Wonder if they're holding them until Friday.
Pretty sure the BF Deals are "online" until Friday? But I would expect they don't put out the budget movies and games until Friday.

Are you sure that you didn't possibly purchase from a 3rd party and actually get a used copy? If not, that's definitely not normal for walmart and I'd complain.

I'm normally a "keep it on track" guy myself but have to admit you have a point here.

Nope, 100% ship and sold by Walmart. Quick chat with CS and they gave me full refund without returning it.

While this true and I don't normally mind the banter, I hate coming into a thread after a while and seeing dozens of new posts thinking there's some amazing deal only to find it's OT talk and I have to skim through the OT posts to see if there was anything I actually missed.

Kind of amazing that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands isn't down to $20 on PS5/X. I've been waiting it out all year and thought for sure we would hit sub 25 on BF

Reposted here just in case people don't read the Walmart thread.

Dualsense Controller for $40.30 @ Walmart

Just follow the steps mentioned. I used WOWFRESH code and it worked for me.

Well this is a hell of a deal. Ended up grabbing Fire Emblem Three Hopes and Sonic Frontier for PS5 in 1 order and Animal Crossing and Mario & Sonic at the Olympics in another order. Bought 3 of those at Amazon the other day so pretty much a no brainer to save $15. Might do one more with gotham nights and dying light 2 but kinda on the fence. Seems like gotham nights will continue to plummet. Could do Elden Ring instead, but not sure I will get to that any time soon. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah for a while I only viewed links only in the Walmart and target threads since thatoneguywho contributions are the only thing worth reading 9 times out of 10.

hearing people call in to him saying "Dave, I make 30k a year, in debt and just financed a 30k charger, what do I do!?" Is pretty entertaining. He's like the Jerry Springer for financial illiterate people

Didn’t feel like trying as I couldn’t get the controller deal to work for me with a code but did manage to pick up COD for the wife. Thanks for the post!

Edit: WOWFRESH worked on that one with shipping, forgot to add.

This year has been so weird.  I haven't bought a single thing yet.

Thinking about the Castlevania/ Castlevania Advance collections on the switch, but nothing else is really jumping out to me right now.

Getting the Steam Deck so recently has changed my perspective on the things that I want to buy and play lately, so it's probably skewing things a bit.

Hey! I just beat it last night too! lol

100% 50hrs playtime though xD

Fun game, but man, that group all sure have some issues.
How in the did you beat it at 50 hours... and the platinum too?? Did you skip every cutscene? how did you get to level 100?

The last chapter or two was just... bad. I fell asleep 'playing' a couple nights in a row. And by playing I mean watching THREE HOURS of nonstop cutscenes with zero gameplay.
