Starting tuesday/possibly friday through 6/6, blockbuster will have 5/$20 on all previously viewed :dvd: & :br: movies priced $9.99 or less.

Supposedly you need a password to take advantage of this sale beginning 5/17 but its not necessary, sale for everyone begins friday 5/20

With few exceptions, my take today were blind buys, including ones I'd never heard of before. Of course I did some quick review searching while in the store to make sure I wasn't getting a total dud.

Does anybody know why some Blus labeled "Rental Exclusive" seem to have all the special features from the regular Blu release, but yet the Blus labeled "Rental" sometimes have special features and sometimes don't (when no special features are mentioned on the back cover)? It seems confusing, and I hate the stripped-down Blus.

just go in with mindset that a rental exclusive ill be bare bones with no special features and if you get them count it as a blessing. Majority are bare bones. I think the only Rental exclusive Ive bought with special features is Taken.

I've actually found a few with special features: Robin Hood (Russell Crowe), Valkyrie, and the aforementioned Taken.

However, I've also got several without any special features: The Losers, Invictus, The Hangover, 500 Days of Summer, and Predators. And I'm pretty sure neither Sherlock Holmes nor Wolverine come with them, but I didn't buy either of those titles.

I'm almost more annoyed by all the forced previews in the rental copies than the lack of special features. You can't skip directly to the menu, you just have to fast forward through them.

This. For some reason, a big gray "RENTAL" text at the bottom of the cover art isn't aesthetically pleasing to me. In the last 5 for $20 sale, i picked up Terminator Salvation and it was a rental copy. Thought about returning it, but decided that it wasn't worth the hassle.

I thought about buying:
The LOTR trilogy
Black hawk down
Book of Eli
How to train your dragon
The Blind Side

but i couldn't find 3 movies that i really wanted to spend money on. Plus, i already own Black Hawk Down and The LOTR Trilogy(the big collector edition sets:D) on DVD.

I have sunshine, i need to get a replacement from fox since FOX did not adhere to standards and the PIP plays on default and cannot be disabled when the movie was initially released on the PS3. If fox does not require me to send mine back you can have it, do you have a collection list like on bluray.com?

exactly, that's what i was trying to explain on CAG, everyone just dogged it saying, if it doesn't scan, it's not for sale. BUT, the employee can override and make it PVP/PRP to make it recognizable in the sale IF it has not been rented withen a certain time period and if they are running too low on that particular movie, thus how i was getting the 99c rentals in the sale deal for 5@$20.

Hell, even a smart ass BBV employee began to post on CAG from dirty jerz thinking he knew everything about the business and said it was not all possible, LOL. Silly gamers...[/QUOTE]

I didn't know that. Guess I'm going to have to pass on Sunshine, as I plan on watching it on my 80GB PS3. Bummer.

from what i googled on the matter, it will play on firmware before the bluray 3d PS3 update. But due to Java add-on because fox is all DRM homo like that, it was like the back door for PIP was closed and the PIP was left outside lol.
 
Dynamite, check your pm for the store you went to. They can totally transfer a bluray they have multiple copies of to prp. Of course it's against our rules, and as Hawaii boy said, the mod that did it will be dealt with accordingly. However, the worse violation is taking something you only have one copy of and transferring it over. Now that store has no copies of the ocean's trilogy to rent. Don't worry, I checked. You should have let this go
 
Well, I'll probably end up buying another BD player at some point when they drop a little lower in price. I get tired of swapping out my PS3 game discs every time I want to watch a movie. It would be nice to have a standalone BD player next to the PS3.

Are there certain BDs you're looking for, if we end up wanting to do a trade?

Your friend over there even said selling the last copy of a rental item is a different story. Let's face it. As Hawaii and I both stated, the employee violated the rules, probably because you know him. He's going to show up on a report to his district manager, and probably lose his job. Now you're just making more cag's look stupid by sending them into stores to get deals they aren't going to get. None of your "facts" hold true. You can't even tell us the first number on the label. Hmm, my store had some sleeping beauties, too. Does this sale end today? If not, I will take one of these back and get a sleeping beauty. I won't be able to make it out to do it today though because I am about to grill out steaks and watch some fireworks. :)

I remember reading that the next ps3 firmware update by end of summer will fix the java issue.

I believe rental exclusive means that something about it is exclusive to them for rental purposes. An example might be that they are the only ones carrying a rental copy with bonus features and elsewhere will just have a bare bones edition. And that a rental copy usually means a more bare bones copy that was made more just for rental purposes and not for purchase.

A ha, that totally makes sense. Thanks for the explanation. So "rental exclusive" is a good thing, and "rental" is a bad thing, except for the few titles that seem to have special features despite the "rental" tag.

I lvoe this sale hope they do it again in a few weeks. I did 3 huals last time and one haul this time. I found 2 more movies I wanted (Date Night and Crazy Heart) but could not find 3 more to pair them with. None of the stores in the area at any of the LOTR movies available. Hope by then more movies come down so I can get more.

I don't think is YMMV but I could be wrong. 4 for $20 is for the $9.99 and under movies. The 2 for $20 is for $12.99 / $14.99 and under.

It was actually the cheapest, dont know why but it was priced for $5.99 and everything was $9.99
