Going to the Anaheim one right now. How is the selection at Carson? Might go there after. Which street is it on?
The one in Carson just has a box outside the store not a huge selection. The one in Anaheim had more.

It's on Carson and Main
Might still go. Thanks for the info!
Gardena is also having the sale. I didn't go so i can't comment on the selection.

so I'm guessing no one in the Tucson area has found any stores doing the $0.99 sale??? :(... I checked all 4 on my side of town but wouldn't mind driving across town if needed
From what I've gathered after googling it... Apparently some BBVs got boxes of BD's shipped to them specifically for this sale. Rumor is the highest-selling stores got them.

I finally found a store about 12 miles away that is doing it, but they haven't put the discs out yet, probably tomorrow, they said.
12 miles is pretty far, but you might want to drive there and politely ask them to reconsider. Today is the only day for 99 cent blu rays. They are not allowed to sell them tomorrow for 99 cents. I was told at two stores today that if they have any 99 cent blu rays left over at the end of the day, they will box them up and put them back in the storage room.

Keep in mind they need to find the barcode on a printout they recieved to be able to ring the blu rays up for 99 cents. I guess driving 24 miles round trip to potentially strike out if you run into a a-hole employee might suck. It depends how bad you want in.

One store employee told me about the "july 4th" sale that hawaiiboy told us about a week or so ago in the BBV/Gamerush Thread. The employee I spoke with said they might put the 99 cent blu rays back out again on July 4th.

Anyone know of any stores in Vegas/Henderson that have 99 cent Blus?

These are the stores I checked today. None of them are having the sale.
Tropicana/Jones
Bonanza/Pecos
Stephanie/Warm Springs
Sunset/Green Valley
Charleston/Sloan
Buffalo/Washington
Charleston/Towne Center
Maryland/Flamingo
Charleston/Decatur

Costa Mesa Harbor BBV has a selection of maybe 50 different movies in various quantities in the 99 cent sale. They only just opened the boxes for this sale today, so I was among the first to get in fortunately (right behind the BBV employees of course, who got some awesome stuff themselves - well deserved, if you ask me).

I got...

The Other Guys
The White Ribbon
D13: Ultimatum
The Mist
44 Inch Chest
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans
Pineapple Express
A Prophet
Rescue Dawn
Angels and Demons
Deliverance

$13. ooh yeahhhh

The tub guy from my earlier post was at the Carson store. He took a huge chunk of the store's selection. When I was there this morning there were 2 boxes along with 4 other containers. The Gardena store had a smaller but more organized selection.

Azusa/Puente in West covina, CA has the .99 cent sale too i got:

Its Complicated
Mission Impossible 1

Ha! It's like you knew I'd as about the selection. Btw, you know which street the Gardens location is on?

I do very much appreciate all the info! Got 32 at the Anaheim location.

Surrogates
Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 1 Disc 1, 2 and 3.

Whoa 32? Surprised they still have some. I go there about 10 minutes after they opened. As soon as i picked what i was going to buy i saw a lady just grabbing everything off the table. haha.

Anyway the one in Gardena is on Artesia/Western.

Feel kinda dumb for getting 7 movies yesterday (considering 4 of them were still there today...), but that was before I knew about .99 blus today. Anyway, Round 2 looked like this...

End of Days (no glue/mint)
Funny People
Capitalism: A Love Story
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past
2012
Legion
The Men Who Stare At Goats
A Single Man
...
and for my co-worker who has two blus total...Batman Begins.

Not bad.

Man, would have loved to have the "Girl Who" blus or reg dvd's for that matter. Picked up the first one earlier this week and need the last two. My blockbuster is not doing the 99 blu...damn em.

Sound a store in the area! The store in Richardson, TX near UTD has the sale. I nabbed about 22 Blu-rays for $1 each. Wanted to get Salt, Other Guys, Red Cliff Part 2 (got part 1), and Social Network but no dice. There was a guy next to me who literally got over 100 movies.

FYI NONE of the stores in Dallas, TX are participating. I called em all and nothing.

Remember you can register the Sony/Columbia BD-Live enabaled discs and get 100 points ($1) to your Sony Rewards account, basically making them free.

The thing i hate about this is you can only save up for coupons to take off part of a price for an item on their site. You cant actually buy something for free. :(

Picked up 30 blus today in okc. 3 stores were participating but I only got to 1. Most of them are crap and I'm planning on using them as trading fodder to Hastings. Trying to get all of the star trek movies on blu ray. Most of the movies are from old Dallas locations like one in Oak Cliff and the other in Seagoville.

ha! Stumbled onto this sale today, I was mainly going to BB for the B1G1 games and was greeted with a huge table of 99c Blus. So I got:

The Girl with the dragon tattoo - complete trilogy!
Bad lieutenant
Donnie Brasco
D13 Ultimatum
Rocky Balboa
Book of Eli
and Zodiac on DVD - didn't see the blu.

Pretty light haul compared to some, but honestly I looked over a lot of the 99c titles and I wouldn't take a lot of that stuff for free. I considered that Kevin Costner straight to DVD horror movie, but...yeah I was in a Life's Too Short kind of mood. (I predict it'll be at least six months before I get through the nine I bought today!)

I went to another store and there was nothing but 99 cent DVD's there he came over to me and said that they have several more boxes in the back they were too busy to put out. I asked if there were BLu-rays and he did not know. He said they will be out tomorrow afternoon. I hope there are some blu there!

The DVD selection was good though I picked up Daybreakers and Hung Season 1 for a few bucks.
i was told by stores that this was a one day thing...........some stores are brining out $.99 blus tomorrow?
I've heard some people say that their stores will be doing the $.99 sale until they sell the whole stock.

Here's what I don't understand. Why didn't Blockbuster mark these down to 99 cents when a bunch of the stores went out of business? I think the lowest they ever got was 25% off. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed picking up a ton of Blu Rays for dirt cheap but it sounds to me like they're giving up and realizing the inevitable. They're going under.

I got the following:

Have:
Surrogates
Shutter Island
Vantage Point
Red Cliff part 1
The Spy Next Door
Red
The Girl who played with Fire
The Fall
The Heartbreak Kid

Want:

Salt
Zodiac
Sorcerers Apprentice
Inglorious Basterds -low want

Are there a lot of stores that have only DVD's and no Blu's? I am going to one today after work hoping to score a ton of Blu's to my already 23 total haul. Their DVD selection was great hoping the Blu is even better when they put them out today.

Are the Blu-Ray's still on SALE today? Just curious. I was going to check at lunch, but if not, I'll stay here. Really curious about the $2.99 ones.

My haul:

A Nightmare on Elm Street
Brooklyn's Finest
Case 39
Changeling
Doomsday
Duplicity
Eagle Eye
Eclipse
End of Days
Eyes Wide Shut
Flightplan
Food, Inc.
Frost Nixon
Funny People
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Lakeview Terrace
Law Abiding Citizen
My Sisters Keeper
New Moon
Orphan
Paranormal Activity
Perfect Stranger
Red Cliff Pt. I
Running with Scissors
Saw II
Speed Racer
Splice
State of Play
Sublime
Sunshine Cleaning
The Collector
The Final Destination (3D)
The Fourth Kind
The Girl Who Played with Fire
The Messenger
The Other Guys
The Reaping
The Road
The Ruins
The Runaways
The Stepfather
The Time Travelers Wife
Things We Lost in the Fire

Not sure if the Final Destination Blu was a mix up or what, but the sleeve says The Final Destination and the disc is the 3D version...

I could be wrong but I think the difference is that then they were not owned by Dish Network. I had several BBV employees tell me Dish said get rid of everything and whatever was left would be put away for a 4th of July sale. Oddly enough, the stock that was already in the store would remain in the 5 for $20 category even though they were mainly the same titles.

I'm pretty sure the $2.99 ones are the ones that dropped to $.99, the sale was yesterday only according to one of my stores, the other store I went to said they where starting it today so I don't know it's YMMV I guess.

Still on today at the one store I found... My haul (for $20.79 total):

Funny people
District 9
Armored
She's Out of My League
Halloween II (Zombie)
Sex and the City 2
The Orphanage
Trick 'r Treat
Reign Over Me
Drag Me to Hell
Bad Lieutenant
The Soloist
100 Feet
Wolfman (Hopkins/Del Toro)
Sunshine Cleaning
Duplicity
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
Untraceable
Lakeview Terrace
Prom Night (2008)

They had tons of extras of most of these and lots of other stuff I didn't pick up. She said they were on sale until they were gone...

I missed a good lot of them. She got more than any other store. She said she sold over 500 yesterday. One guy bought over 100 - and like 6 copies of Expendables (there were none left) and a bunch of others. Oh well. I'm happy with my haul. I have plenty of stuff to watch now but now I need replacement cases :)

I am tempted to call my two stores again to see if they are doing it today. They weren't doing it yesterday. What is the chances they have some today?

I had one store that got none... But he was pretty sure the store I went to today had gotten some. Because it's a bit of a trek (40 miles) and my son was pissy, I didn't go yesterday. A call arose today that would send me out this way and I called to verify at the store. The manager said she had 5 or so boxes of BR left and they were still on sale. The one store locally NEVER got the first shipment of regular DVD or BR for .99... Best to call, I think - simply because if they have the disks, they already know about it. It's not like they will suddenly see the boxes of .99 BR and buy them all up themselves... :)

The biggest thing that confused me with the $.99 sale is that there were some blus in this section (my store put them in a kiddie pool) that were also on shelves in different parts of the store. What distinguishes the two? I did notice some of the cases had a dash on the spine in black marker, but not every movie had that.

And I'm positive the woman ringing me up didn't check every movie I bought to make sure it had a dash. She just counted the number of movies I got, then scanned the barcode that many times, then scanned the discount code that many times. To make things more confusing, some of the movies in the $.99 pool were tagged at $12.99-$16.99 (making them ineligible for the 5 for $20 even). How the hell did BBV keep all of this straight?
