Haven't seen this posted, so I thought I'd do it.

I just got back from a local Blockbuster and noticed an awesome sign on the front. It said Buy any previously viewed movie or video game and get 50 percent off the sticker price. Obviously, this is one deal you can't pass up.

Games I saw that I can remember:
Simpson's Hit & Run (PS2) originally priced at $14.99 - $8.50 after deal
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (PS2) originally priced at $19.99 - $10 after deal
Mace Griffin (PS2) originally priced at $14.99 - $8.50 after deal
Several Xbox, PS2 and Cube sports titles priced at $19.99 - $10 after deal

There were a lot more, and this was just a small Blockbuster I happened to go by, but I drove by a bigger Blockbuster on the way home and saw the same sign so, this should be a national deal going on.

I plan to go pick up a few tomorrow.

No, it was definitely 50% off any used movie or game.

Edit: This isn't the Gamerush deal. I don't have a Gamerush closer than 100 miles of me. This is a regular Blockbuster deal.

Like I said, I saw a huge sign on the window of two local stores. We're having huge thunderstorms right now or I'd go out and take a look at the bigger one. I plan on going tomorrow, though. I'll post what I find there, too.
 
Yeah, that was a great price. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow, hopefully.

It seems that this deal may be YMMV, but it didn't seem that way. I mean they had a sign that covered almost three window panes, two Blockbusters had these deals going on and a store clerk confimed it's not BOGO. So I know this deal is legit.
 
At the one I went to, the most expensive games I saw were like $20 ($10 after the deal). I don't know if they were pilfered earlier for their better games, though.

But Simpsons and Castlevania alone are worth the trip.

Just called three local blockbuster in CA none of them are running this deal, the only thing they have is BOGO 50% off. So i guess it's YMMV
 
Damn, that really sucks. Well, my Blockbuster in Wichita Falls, Tx is running this deal. So any Texans may be able to get in on this deal.

If not, Wichita Falls may not be such a bad place to live for the next week or so.
 
I doubt highly this will be at the blockbuster near my job. When the BOGO 50% started, the girl over the phone emphatically told me that they were NOT running that promotion, she had never heard of it. When I popped in later that afternoon, of course there was the BOGO 50% off sign right over the used games. Don't you just hate that. I'll have to check it out tomorrow anyway.....
 
ive never bought from blockbuster- ive never even been to one, i rent all my stuff from a closer store but there is one about 25 mins away. Does the blockbuster games come with the original case and instructions? and is worth goin up there to buy games?

Yeah, that's bad. What happened to me last week was the games rang up full price, and I had to point out to the cashier the signs over the game area and they had to manually apply the discount.
 
There are three blockbusters near me that are doing this too. However, I asked about it and it is because they are closing a bunch of stores down. This must be a big collective effort, but the bad news means that once this is done the store is shutting down. So get on in while you can. One blockbuster by me is so far along in the process that they are not renting anymore, they are soley open to sell off everything in the store.
 
not every game comes with the original case and instructions....some games come with bs blockbuster cases, while some come with no instructions, and some come with both....thats the downside of all of this...but the good thing is, blockbusters return policy is without a doubt one of the best...for us...they really dont care, just tell them the game didnt work right, it was skipping, etc...keep the receipt and come back within (i think) 30 days

SAME THING at the Blockbuster in Indian Harbor Beach FL... I walk in asking about the promotion the morning it started. No one knew about it and they waisted like 10 minutes of my time looking in their computer for the memo. Then I pointed to the STACK OF BOGO 50% magnetic signs that were stacked behind the counter... guess that is why they work at BlockBuster...
 
hrm... well if this is fo real... i can get super monkey ball for $4.50.. pikmin for $4.50.. maybe Serious Sam the Next Encounter for $7.50..

damn... i need to go to blockbuster :(

How dumb can blockbuster get?

I asked if they had Mvp baseball for ps2 instock
the guy types in the computer and says they dont carry that game.......

I tell him theres 3 display boxes over on the shelf. So obviously they carry it. I just wanted to know if any where coming in anytime soon or if they had any hiding behind the desk.

He said they must of all been stolen from the store................

uhhh.... ok........

Quit being a jerk as always. The starter of this post is saying that by him it 's 50% off, without having to buy one at full price. He called his local store and confirmed that. Someone else in another location says his Blockbusters are also running the deal. It's already been established that it's YMMV. So can the attitude.

Actually they might be right....there was a Lord of the Rings: ROTK box in the rental section at the blockbuster near me and I asked when it could come back in and they said they don't carry it anymore. I was very surprised but when I checked the game on the website and told it to look at that location it confirmed that the store doesn't carry it anymore. Funny thing is they still have Two Towers and Fellowship....they have ROTK pre-owned only. Makes no sense to me, but they may have done something similar in your store.

Ya know what, just for that candy-ass attitude of yours, I'm going to take a damn picture of the sign when I go up there later today. I couldn't go on my lunch because my family took too damn long at the dentist, but I'm going up there in a couple hours.

Hopefully, you'll shut your dumbass up after that.
 
So, this is only for Blockbuster stores that are closing down? If that is the case, then I know for sure my BB won't be running this deal. I guess it's worth a try though.

Hmmm, I dunno, but I highly doubt all the Blockbusters in my town would be closing down. Maybe the smaller one that I went to yesterday, but we also have a huge one in one of the best locations in town. I doubt they would be shutting that one down, but it's still a possibility, I guess.
