OTHER INFO

I consider deals confirmed when I receive the MAP on every other Thursday. The Map outlines promos and how the store is to be layed out and includes the barcodes for the deals. Also we get the new trade flyers that day as well with new trade values and deals.

Deals usually end on close of business on Monday and begin on open Tuesday (some special ones do start on Thursday usually around labor day, memorial day, etc.)

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).

Cory, my blockbuster does not know about the 10 for $25 deal. They checked and could not find any mention of this promotion. Is this promotion nationwide and my blockbuster just doesn't know about it. Will they or will I get in trouble if they use the code manually. Thanks!
On the last trade 3 deal I was able to make 12,000 dollars in credit by flipping games and paying my friends and family to flip along with me. That credit was used to buy thin PS2 and other rare games for the last 5 months and sell it all on Ebay for a premium.
I plan on beating my last total by hiring people from the local plasma donation center and giving them 20% cash for every blockbuster dollar they can raise for me. I have totally exploited the DFW area and I plan on working to the San Antonio area soon.

I call bullshit. There is no way that this is true.

Yawn. If we say we're very impressed, will you go away?

I can believe it. I always figured that area would be a gold mine as there are tons of blockbusters both gamerush and traditional.

does gamerush have burnout legends (PSP) and ninja gaiden black in the system yet? want to preorder 3 games today, and i have a gamecube, xbox, and psp. heres what i have on preorder:

XBOX:
Conker (3 copies)
San Andreas
Advent Rising
Darkwatch
Call of Duty 2
Battlefield 2
Quake 4
Far Cry
Madden 2006
rainbow six 4

GC:
Zelda

PSP:
Midnight Club 3 (2 copies)
Jak and Daxter
Coded Arms
Grand Theft Auto
death jr
xmen legends 2
gran turismo 4

i want to preorder destroy all humans. if GR doesnt have ninja gaiden black and burnout (PSP) in the system, what else should i preorder. i guess i should preorder killer 7 too since i only have 1 GC game. what should the 3rd game be?

it is local, from my experiance. one store called the dm and he called all the stores in his district. he is the one i had to talk to to get reinstated at only one store

Typically its the individual store. I can shut down an account on a whim and have a voicemail throughout the entire districts and these get forwarded around as well within minutes.

Note I've only done this twice and both times it was for bad checks.

thanks cory and camelking for the info.
so how do you become a "scammer"?

and anyway you can get the account back?
You become a scammer if the store employee/manager believes it so.
There isn't even the illusion of due process in thier trade agreement.
You'd get the account back if you can convice them that they're incorrect.

ANYONE IN THE ORANGE COUNTY AREA, READ THIS!!!:

the tustin gamerush lets you double dip on the new deals. trade in 6 games, preorder 3 for 30 and get 2 used for 5. trade in 9 get 4 new games for 30 and get 3 used for 5 each. etc. talk to jerrid if you go in. hes really nice, and he takes care of his customers. they have good used games. i saw chaos theory, 3 jade empires, forza, psychonauts, couple of midnight club 3,2 episode 3 (xbox), and i just glanced at the xbox selection

so I become a scammer if I trade in games...

the last time I was at gamerush was 4 weeks ago but I went yesterday and they had scammer all over my account

so I become a scammer if I trade in games...

If that is what the store belives, yes.
As worded, the trade agreement give the employee and store managers a great degree of latitude.

the last time I was at gamerush was 4 weeks ago but I went yesterday and they had scammer all over my account

Ask them why. They owe at least that much to you.
But don't lose your temper, or come off as too agressive.
Advocate yourself clearly and concisely, and remind the manager what a good customer you are. Most store managers aren't completely unreasonable.

You may even want to send a PM to Cory to find out the best way to deal with the situation. He'd be able to give you insight into the situation that few would have.
I call bullshit. There is no way that this is true.
I think I met that guy once in a store, we talked for a bit about the business

interesting...

I label and blacklist accounts the second I believe they are trading in to build more credit than they should.

How do I determine this? Really simple.

If you are keeping all your credit limited to preowned items I don't really care. In fact I become lenient and will combine deals, accept maybe 2 instead of three, or whatever, if you are not trying to scam the system and get hundreds of ps2s to resell or new games.

Now if you come in 3 days later trade say Forza and two completely crap games and get star wars episode 3 and do the 10 for 25 and then come back the next day your gonna get flagged and I'm going to call other stores

After that if it continues and suddenly you have 100s in credit I will leave a district wide voicemail and I add to the blacklist.

I have yet to perma ban someone from trading even the hardiest of flippers but I will become a major hardass with the deals. Technically you are only supposed to trade once per day at one store and I have stopped those from doing it.

I do understand the occasional preorder or maybe buying a new game with the credit leftover. I also understand not liking a game and trading it back a few days later as I know some do suck and some are short.

Its the people the come back in the same day with more to trade and suddenly they have a value card from another store or the people that come in with more than 100 already on their card and are trading in a good title and two crap and get another preowned and put the remainder on the account.

Its soo painfully obvious when someone is trying to gain the system.

Those that follow the rules will do just fine by themselves. Remember the deal lasts til September so even then.

just don't get too carried away and spread the good titles around for regular people too.

My big complaint is that we get tons of crap games that I have to process and put out thus affecting my ability to do other things that are more important such as repricing, putting up signage to promote the new deals, rebalancing, cleaning, straightening, putting the right locater boxes out there, alphabetizing, and most of all provide great customer service.

If I am lacking time I can't actually talk to people yet I still haft to mention trades, preorders or something. I hate being the asshole that goes through the motions and haft to bug people about preorders.

Yes I still haft to ask everyone but I'd much rather spend time talking to them about games, what they play, that kind of thing. Thats why I work at Game Rush and not Home Depot or McDonalds while I'm in school.

Then my DL gets pissed at me for shit not being done. I hate flippers and will stop them when it affects my ability to do my job the way it should be done.

the computer said I had 5 splinter cell PT traded in...

does the computer tell you what system the game is for?

I started to laugh and asked the guy why and he said he didn't know and that he would ask the manager but he said it is stupid. He doesn't care if you trade in games. I didn't do anything wrong

I come in with good games too, splinter cell PT 2 + months ago was actually worth something so why should they care
oh and I didn't come in with them all at the same time of course

In a twist of irony, my mom got banned from a local game chain here just for trading in all my crap titles. (I needed cash for summer class)

They harrassed her about the "origin" of the games and would not accept them, even though they were all in great condition and had the manuals.

The computer does tell you what system the game is for and when and what time it was traded.

I don't see why they did your account just for that though unless it was all in the same day and you've done it with other games.

Personally I don't see if the problem if people trade in a hundred of a certain title just so long as its spread out over at least 50 days (remember two of the same title per day) and they are not doing it to flip and are just getting regular credit.
I think I met that guy once in a store, we talked for a bit about the business
50th and Macarthur in warr acres?

cory, well in my case was a little different, i had trade in 3 goods and bought 3 5$po than would use rest of money to buy old games to build my collection, i had plenty of old games to trade in so i was not flipping i was just moving my inventory. but i am clear to trade at one store now so i am happy

my question to you cory is how long should i wait till i ask for another store to allw me to trade, cuz with just one store , makes it hard to get all the games i want

hmm I'm not sure on that one. I don't see why you couldn't do it now though.

just explain that the stores have different inventory and explain pretty much just what you said in that last paragrah, especially your just working on your collection and cleaning out your ones you don't want (one mans junk is another mans treasure)

pretty much thats what I was saying a few posts ago if your getting other preowned what does it matter anyways? especially if your helping to clean out the older inventory to collect and not to flip.

now this christmas i had flipped for over 2300 in games and systyms, and never got a word mentioned to me, but was doing on weekends and at night.

see cory i just got reinstated on wensday so i didn't want to be a pest already, i figure i should wait a couple of weeks before i ask dont you

cory, you are probaly one of the coolest people on here for answering quesions and stuff, i wonder if we should make a new thread

i was surprised i got the punisher for $5 and loved it, anybody else get a game they were wondering about and ended up liking it

So, the trade 3 for $5 deal is going on until September. If true that is awesome so I can get 25 to Life and some other stuff that is coming out for Xbox without pre-ordering.

For example, would I get banned for flipping if I took advantage of the 3 for $5 deal at GR then after I played the games for a few days traded them back in at a local BB location if didn't like the game.

can we take this talk about banning and flipping to a different thread??? (Since this is called "Gamerush Deals Thread" not "How do I get banned at Gamerush?")

not to be rude or anything camelking, but the edit feature is quite useful. you might want to try using it, as to not clutter up nearly a page with 1 line messages. just a bit of helpful/useful advice.

also cory, generally speaking, about how long does it take for new releases to be turned back in? i am asking b/c my closest GR is an hour away and didn't want to just travel there and hope to find something worthwile that i am wanting. thanks in advance

it varies so much now with the gamepass and no late fees. generally any time and you can always call and ask them to hold it if its in when you call.

Alright thanks for the help. Now just to sit and wait on some of the newer games. haha

Wow, this thread has turned to almost complete crap. To at least be somewhat helpful, I figured that I'd post that GameRush is now pricematching the prices on used games plus 10%. I know it has been their policy to price match trade-in values, but the latest EGM has an ad that very clearly states that they will match any competitor's price on used games now as well.

This could be pretty nice depending on if your GameRush would accept printouts of online prices as proof. Now, if only GR would start price matching new games too.

Can someone put a new thread in the bragging rights or whatever for flippers/scammers/etc? I'd do it but higher ups at Blockbuster may frown upon me doing it.

May help to clean out the thread.

cory, ill be pleased to do it. i guess i should put it in the bragging rights thread, correct?

tell me what forum, and i will put it up
