My Transformers: The Movie shipped from sendit.com. Came out to around $30 shipped.

http://www.sendit.com/video/item/7001000137723
That is awesome.. But I thought that BD disks were region coded. Assuming there is no more pal/ntsc distinction, since a 1080p video signal is 1080p video signal. Which player are you using to play region 2 BDs?

Let us know how the picture quality looks? (this movie is the one I have bought most in my life)
You'll have to post impressions. $30 is a tall order, even for an import, but if it's that good, I may look into buying it.
ZOMG WHY DO YOU JUST SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON A HD-DVD PLAYER YOU CRAZY IMPORTER???!?!?!!?!?
So are Blu-ray disc region free? Can you play imports on your PS3?
It depends. Some publishers choose not to use region code on their disc.
ZOMG WHY DO YOU JUST SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON A HD-DVD PLAYER YOU CRAZY IMPORTER???!?!?!!?!?
For Transformers: The Animated Movie?

Cuz it ain't out on a dyin' hidef format, babydoll. ;)

There's two Transformer movies?

Huh, live and learn, eh?

You didn't know they made a feature film of the cartoon 20 or so years ago?

Or is it on HD DVD as well as the Bay movie from this year?
You didn't know they made a feature film of the cartoon 20 or so years ago?

Nope, I didn't know they made a feature film of the cartoon, I've never been a big fan of Transformers.
Nope, I didn't know they made a feature film of the cartoon, I've never been a big fan of Transformers.
It's one of the finest pieces of animation ever.
Very emotional.
Nope, I didn't know they made a feature film of the cartoon, I've never been a big fan of Transformers.
Huh. Got the Bay HD DVD preordered? ;)
It's one of the finest pieces of animation ever.
Very emotional.
Not really. It's about as close as "art" and "crass consumerism" will come together in the form of a children's animated feature; which is, to say, not very close at all. It's enjoyable, but Jan Svankmeyer's "Alice" is one of the finest pieces of animation ever. Transformers is just a tender attempt by a commercial juggernaut.

Don't destroy my childhood memories Myke!
I haven't seen it since then!

For truly emotional, I go for Grave of the Fireflies.
I'll look out for Alice however. Sounds interesting.
Huh. Got the Bay HD DVD preordered? ;)
Negative.

I do have it on my Blockbuster Online queue though and if it's anything like Bay's The Island, I doubt I'll ever buy it.
For truly emotional, I go for Grave of the Fireflies.
Amen to that. It restored my faith in Anime as a medium after putting up with otaku fuckwads who turned a beloved section of overpriced VHS tapes into rows and rows and rows of every franchise ever, with no regard for taste, crappy cosplay merchandise, and pocky for $4 a fuckin' box.

But..um, yeah. That movie blows me away every time.

I'll look out for Alice however. Sounds interesting.

It's stop animation that's very well done. Do a youtube search for "Svankmajer." And with that, I'm done co-opting the deal thread. Gonna walk the dog and watch Dracula BR.
Negative.

I do have it on my Blockbuster Online queue though and if it's anything like Bay's The Island, I doubt I'll ever buy it.
It's not. The Island was so boring and just poorly made.

Transformers is pretty much non stop awesome. The action sequences are over the top. After you see it, you'll just keep it.
What's the price? I might drop by and pick it up if they still have promos n stuff
$29.99. That's Circuity City's regular price.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Went into my local FYE, they had Planet Earth used for $50.99. 10% off backstage pass & $3 Entertainment Book coupon brought it to $42.89 + tax. I'm starting to run low on credit. I wish this lame ass Amazon seller would get back to me about combined shipping & the condition of their games.

Ripping this straight from AVS.
Thanks to the OP there, whippersnapper.

Good deal for Pan's Labrynth and other titles at the Warner store again.

Pan's Labyrinth (Blu-ray) is now available at the Warner's site. Using a coupon code you can pre-order it for $20.22. While at the site, see if there are other Warners or New Line videos you want to buy or pre-order and get 44% - 48% off MSRP using the special "coupon code". If your total order is over $50 you'll get free shipping.

CTBM is the "coupon code" that you can use to get 44% - 48% off the MSRP price. This code will work only for orders placed through October 31th. These low prices are the best I've found for Warners and New Line videos. Because of a systems redesign, Warners has been backed up on filling its online orders but, based upon recent deliveries, they are beginning to get a handle on their problems.

You won't see the final reduced prices until you click on "add to cart" and/or "pre order" and add the coupon code there. Once Warner is caught up completely they should be back to their usual delivery times. Normally, folks who do a pre-orders 10 or more days before the "release date" will frequently get the pre-order actually before the official release date. Hopefully they'll soon be returning to this "normality" (and certainly well before the release date for Pan's Labyrinth).

I've posted a direct link to the list of available items.

http://whv.warnerbros.com/WHVPORTAL/Portal/browsesearchtitles.jsp?functionmode=13&currentpagenumber=1&total=105&formatType=Blu-ray

Like Amazon, Warners doesn't charge your credit card for an item until that item ships. And, based upon my experience over the last several days, they don't hold up items in an order because other items are not yet available for release.

Nice coupon but the $8 shipping charge and tax are killing the deal for me.
Just a heads up for anyone ordering something with a rebate @ FYE.com. If you pre-register your MIR at http://www.fyerebates.com You can choose to get a $30 virtual debit card instead of the $7 MIR.
wait. wait. wait. are you saying you can use the $30 virtual debit card as real money.

So I could basically get 28 weeks later and 28 days later for around $30(with the card)???

If so, that is wicked awesome.

I tried the coupon code and its not 40-44% off, am I missing something? best of Blu-Ray action pack: 59.95-14.99 = 44.96?

as far as region codeing with the transformers from send it it says its region 2 and when you click on it it shows you region 2 is the uk. did it say the same when you guys imported or is this new? thanks
I tried the coupon code and its not 40-44% off, am I missing something? best of Blu-Ray action pack: 59.95-14.99 = 44.96?
I think it's because the code is for a percentage off of the MSRP. The MSRP for Action is 84.99.

There is a deal in Circuit City, buy 2 Blu-Ray movies get one free. This is for the movie freaks who like to buy movies.

The selection is:
Underworld Evolutions
Black Hawk Down
UltraViolet
Layer Cake
The Patriot
House of Flying Daggers
Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Into the Blue
Secret Window
Monster House
Silent Hill
The Covenant
Vacancy
The Messenger.

The selection sucks...it's basically like the 5 free ones you get for buying a PS3 or blue-ray player

Warner Code - No, the code takes 25% off of Warners listed price.

It is around 44% off of the MSRP. But that is deceiving because Amazon does not sell at MSRP. It turns out to be basically around 20% off of Amazon, but then you need to make sure that you don't have tax and shipping fees.

Matthew

ok, another possible deal: Circuit City
Blu-ray.com has had 2 different reports of people buying 6 Blu-Rays, and getting 3 free.

It is suppose to be buy 2 get 1, but for some reason it is buy 3 get 3. Not sure why, but it has worked 2x.
They are buying 4 $29.99 movies and 2 $24.99. They are being charged $90 for them.

Just a heads up.
Matthew

I'm tempted to pick up Apocalypto. I don't care for Mel Gibson, but recognize that the movie does look very good, and it is alleged to have a very high PQ rating.
I'm tempted to pick up Apocalypto. I don't care for Mel Gibson, but recognize that the movie does look very good, and it is alleged to have a very high PQ rating.
The movie is a trip, it's graphic and brutal, but I enjoyed it mainly for it's storyline and "what's gonna happen now?" scenario, I was pulling for the dude all the way.

I went into it not expecting much, but I was very pleased. It reminded me a lot of Last Of The Mohicans, and the suspense/action never dies down once it gets going.
