What are the other three if you don't mind me asking?
Oh he minds...

In other news, my 50% off Planet Earth arrived today from the FYE glitch.
Nice to get in early for a change.
What are the other three if you don't mind me asking?
Couldn't tell you, but I do my best (and often fail) to avoid superlatives (the sort of repetitive "_____ is the BEST _____ EVER!" talk). So I feel comfortable saying those two are top five material, but wouldn't call them *the* best in my mind.

I will say that The Big Lebowski is among them (and the one film that makes me seethe with jealousy towards HD DVD owners).

I'd really like the 2 Pirates movies on br for $30. But I was reading some thread recently (could have been this one for all I know :p) and someone said there was a really bad framing issue in one of them. Has this been fixed by now?

But I was reading some thread recently (could have been this one for all I know :p) and someone said there was a really bad framing issue in one of them. Has this been fixed by now?
It's about 8 minutes of the whole movie. Has a shot framed lower than it should be, so you see his feet instead of all of his head for example.

It isn't too detrimental, but it is an error.
Disney hasn't commented on it.

If they were to fix it, I feel they'd offer replacement discs.

EDIT: First movie only.

It can be fixed, they just have to fix those 8 minutes, probably by doing a re-transfer.
It's correct in the DVD version. Doh!

I still can't believe they made an error like that. If I saw the BR before hearing about it months back, I probably would never have noticed, but after seeing the comparison shots, it'll just bug the hell out of me if I watch it.

Hrmm...I think I can live with 8 minutes. I was under the impression that it affected most of the movie. Thanks!

what issue are you talking about? i watched it on BRD and it seems fine for me unless i missed something and yes i was watching the first one

The affected scene is mainly the fight in the blacksmith area. The scene is framed lower than it should be, which ends up in shots where people are talking and you only see the lower half of their face (if any) and during the fight on the rafters you don't see faces. From what I've seen, you might be able to pick out stunt doubles also. To be honest, I really didn't notice it when I watched it, I only noticed it when it was brought up on the AVS forums.
I knew there was a problem but I didn't know where. I was looking for it and still didn't notice.
I *think* it's during the fight scene in the smithy, but I'm not positive.

Any good deals for DotD? I missed the Fry's $18.99 sale, and DD seems like the only good place to get it. What other places have it on sale, preferably B&M?
I knew there was a problem but I didn't know where. I was looking for it and still didn't notice.
It when Bloom and Depp first meet, and some of the ship shots.

Blooms face is completely cut out, when it should be in frame(that a crime by defintion, oh Orlando).

But it is a really big framing problem. There should at least be a few people fired for that. I can live with it. POTC isn't exactly Ben-hur. But I would prefer that I watch what the director wanted me to see.

Fry's online and B&M has B1G1 free on some blurays.

Bram Stoker's Dracula
Fifth Element
The Replacement Killers
A Few Good Men
Memoirs of a Geisha
Underworld
FF Spirits Within
House of Flying Daggers
Hitch
Immortal Beloved
Kung Fu Hustle
RE: Apocalypse
Tears of the Sun
Layer Cake
Curse of the Golden Flower
Donnie Brasco
Black Hawk Down
Hellboy
Wild Things
The Patriot

These are all supposedly $19.99 regularly. Frys.com has these marked 9.99 each, so most likely these will be marked the same way in store as well. This should be called a $9.99 bluray sale instead.

Shipping is killer on this deal

Thanks for the deal.
Shipping is high for the first item, but you can keep adding to it and it does not go up. Basically, if you want to order 1 BD, it is not worth it. But you can add 6 for the same price. At 7, the price goes up .20 or so.

If you are looking for a movie, check out Curse of the Golden Flower. It is wierd and has a messed up story, but it looks beautiful. The fight scene is amazing.

No, it's a one-day Fry's sale. You should see the 360 bundle they have (360 pro w/ Forza/Marvel UA, Bioshock, Orange Box, and Two Worlds for $399).

Also one sale are FFT PSP ($20) and a preorder for PSP Castlevania ($22).

Yeah frys has a ton of 9.99 Blu-rays So i bought pretty much 1 of each with the exception of wha ti own already and wild things. Also notable that Planet Earth is only $50 on BR and HD so i picked it up on BR.

The Fry's deal is good in store as well. You don't need to buy 2 DVD's to get the 2 for $20, all those Blu-Ray's on the list were marked $9.99 on the shelf.

Robocop is not the unrated version. I am waiting on a better version to come out before I bite. I want that movie really badly, but I need the unrated version.
Unrated Robocop? Do we get to see ED-209's titties or somethin'?
You see all the heat he's packing.

Actually, just a lot more gore.
I think it was originally rated X because of it.

The BD looks good (from the review), a big step up from my VHS of it at least.

I believe I just tipped the tides of the format war. Came back with 9 Blu-Rays from Frys! Thanks for posting this awesome deal!

How is Layer Cake? Does it stack up to Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch (I think it's by the same director, isn't it?)?

Layer Cake was better than Lock Stock but not quite as good as Snatch IMO. That's not really a knock though as Snatch is of my all-time faves.

Ugh.

Went to my local Fry's twice today to buy Blu-ray movies.
First one I grabbed 28 Days Later, Underworld and Dracula (sans Slipcover..ugh)
then went back after work and grabbed Hellboy and Memoirs of a Geisha.

Luckily I remember to N-E-V-E-R buy Sony Blu-ray titles as Fry's will always have the for $10 or $12.50 a few weeks later.

Sounds good to me. My kind of movie anyway, and at $10 it's hard to complain. ;)

I ordered:

Layer Cake
Underworld
Black Hawk Down
Final Fantasy: Spirits Within
Castlevania (psp)

None of it will ship until Castlevania releases, but that's ok - I have plenty to watch between now & then.

On a completely unrelated note, is there or has there ever been a deal on Lord of War? I really want to pick that up - I see it on sale on dvd all the time for around $7, but I want the blu-ray.

28DL was there for $10?
You should have picked up 28 week instead. It is actually the better of the two, and it's demo material through and through.

I prefered the 28 days later dvd to the BD, because it doesn't have scan lines. either way they look the exact same except for the ending.
check these screen shots http://www.hometheaterspot.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/138842/
Exchange it for 28 weeks quick.

No Dracula at my Frys but I believe they had all other movies.

I just went with Immortal Beloved and Layer Cake.
I may go back for Curse, FF, and A Few Good Men.

They didn't have Robocop, but they had The Fly.
Not for $30 though, I'll wait!

Also got a DVD (the color of money) and two PSP games.

Oops.
I got 28 Weeks Later...but not for $10. It was $26.99. 28 Days Layer, wile awesome, has a super shitty transfer.

Was there any deals on the Spidey Trilogy???? I thought that there were several weeks ago but now that the release is close where are the deals?????

Shit, and I preordered it at Amazon with 2 day shipping for 71...

Ordered Dead Man's Chest and Prestige, with the sale stacking with my Amazon 10% off HD discs deal I get them both for a total of $19.13
