Welcome to the Official CAG Blu-Ray/DVD Coupons and Rebates Thread

WE DO NOT HAVE PDFS OF THE COUPON PRINTING COUPONS, THE COUPONS ARE INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

Please keep trade and other off topic chatter to a minimum. It is healthy and unless it gets out of hand or really off topic or in a direction that is heading towards fraud or illegal actions, please do not worry.

The Disney Movie Rewards site has changed, the coupon printing is now associated with your account, printing 2 times per account is now the limit, as well as per computer. This was tested at the end of the Toy Story craze a while back. If you know someone else with an account, see if you can have them print their extra coupons if you need them.

There will be a $5.00 coupon for The Fox and the Hound as well as Mars Needs Moms.

The best alternatives are as follows...

first off, the prices of the movies:

Mars Needs Moms (Blu-Ray/DVD Combo)
Target: $24.99
Best Buy: $22.99

Mars Needs Moms (3D Blu-Ray/Blu-Ray/DVD/DC Combo)
Target: $29.99
Best Buy: $27.99

Fox and the Hound (Blu-Ray/DVD Combo)
Target: $24.99
Best Buy: $22.99

Target also has a "Buy both Mars Needs Moms and Fox and the Hound and receive $8 off instantly" promo.

And each movie has a $5 manufacturers.

Price match Best Buy's prices at Target and purchase either of the following...

Mars Needs Moms (3D Blu-Ray/Blu-Ray/DVD/DC) + Fox and the Hound (Blu-Ray/DVD)
$27.99 (Mars Needs Moms)
+ $22.99 (Fox and the Hound)
- $8.00 (Combo Promo)
- $5.00 (Manufacturer's Coupon Fox)
- $5.00 (Manufacturer's Coupon Mars)
__________________________________

ALTERNATIVELY....

Mars Needs Moms (Blu-Ray/DVD) + Fox and the Hound (Blu-Ray/DVD)
$22.99 (Mars Needs Moms)
+ $22.99 (Fox and the Hound)
- $8.00 (Combo Promo)
- $5.00 (Manufacturer's Coupon Fox)
- $5.00 (Manufacturer's Coupon Mars)
__________________________________
$27.98 + tax (about $13.99 per movie)

and if you want to buy the individual movies just use the $5 coupons from DMR.

props to the forum posters over at blu-ray.com for the prices!

enjoy!

I don't even want those movies, but the deal is pretty sweet. Why is it when I hear Mars Needs Moms I think of porn?

OK, I updated the OP with a new format because I was sick of trying to read the odd color scheme lol. That and I think it needed a little organization. ;)

Thanks for the info, Penguin. Time to cancel my Amazon pre-orders for both, since that's significant savings on each one with the $8 combined purchase and the $5 coupons.

it is. amazon loses out on this one..

hahahahahahha that was pretty good. I always thought the name was weird and I didn't really have an interest in seeing the movie but the prices are good enough for me to go out on a limb and give it a shot.

on a completely different note apparently FatH 1 + 2 are on the same blu-ray?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036TGT16

read through the reviews and description

As I said before, my main reason for considering Mars Needs Moms at all is that the original story is by Berkeley Breathed, the writer of the Bloom County comic strip, and I'm a big fan of his work. That being said, I've seen interviews with him where he makes it sound like (though he doesn't come right out and say it) he was fairly underwhelmed with the movie himself (he wasn't involved in its production). So I'm torn. $16.49 isn't too bad, but there are a lot of movies that I want that cost less than that...
on a completely different note apparently FatH 1 + 2 are on the same blu-ray?
FatH 1 is 83 minutes long, FatH 2 is 69 minutes long. At two hours and twenty-two minutes total, that's shorter than a lot of individual movies that have been on a single blu-ray, so they might as well put them together. If it's keeping the price down, I'm totally fine with them both being on one disc.

Actually, I'd be totally fine with just skipping FatH 2 altogether (not a big fan of the direct-to-video titles generally), though it appears they're not giving me that option if I want FatH 1, so whatever I guess.

I didnt think their was gonna be a coupon fot these cause I thought they were both out because when I bought rio 3d yesterday at best buy they had both of these on the shelve already

Assuming you pre-ordered both titles when amazon had the $5 off coupon for each, you can always ask amazon, whether they give you an additional $8 off (similar to their current promo when you buy FatH + MnM 2-disc combo). If they do it, it's pretty much a wash with Target (assuming no tax w/Amazon). If Amazon price matches Best Buy (which is likely), then you'll be a few dollars ahead with Amazon (+ not to mention time and gas money saved).

this is true. I might attempt this.

chances are they will price match best buy too.

EDIT:

on second thought I might just stick with B&M

I'll take the BB flier with me and go to Target, have them PM BB ($27.99 for the 3D pack of MNM and $22.99 for F&H1+2), as the $8 comes off automatically at the register. Target does manufacturer coupons pre-tax, so I save on tax with the coupons, so it'll save a few cents on the transaction.

I'm calling this "plan A."

so will they charge tax after the manufacturer's coupon AND the $8 promo? or only after manufacturers coupon?

well what's plan B? haha
Waiting 30 minutes for a cashier, asst. manager, and store manager brain-trust conference at BBy to try and (1) understand the Target deal and then do a (2) price override, (3) discount adjustment and then maybe (4) argue w- me about the coupons.
so will they charge tax after the manufacturer's coupon AND the $8 promo? or only after manufacturers coupon?
Out here, when Target scans the manufacturer coupons (where BB has to enter them manually), they come out as a pre-tax deduction, so I save the tax difference on the $10 between the two coupons, which comes out to $0.70 - $0.80 savings over BB.

BB won't do the $8 additional price, as they're already $2 off each compared to Target, at least in past experience.

The times I do BB PMs at Target are pretty small in number, plus since this is an automatic deduction on both items being bought at the same time, it makes it a simple decision to go to Target.

Lucky you, coupon are post-tax here in RI (I can always head to MA for pre-tax coupon lol).

Anyway, I didn't want to buy Mars Needs Moms but I think this is a good deal. I'll buy the non-3D BD combo pack to save some more money. Thanks Penguin!

I don't care for Mars Needs Moms at this point. I'll stick with my Amazon order at this time, and hope for a price match.

OK, color me confused but according to this Target only has a $10 GC with buying those two? What happened to the $8 promo? Are they doing BOTH? If I can get them for the PM, $8 off promo, $10 MC off, and a $10 GC then what the hell I'm in.

That's for the section ABOVE.

Also, any word on the Toys R Us ad?
That's for the section ABOVE.
Wow, what a retarded way to list them. Considering there's six titles both above and below it, it's no wonder I was confused.

yea the way they list it in the ad makes it unquestionable though. snoop around the blu-ray forums for a scan. it's there.

on a side note, it sounds like FatH isn't one of Disney's finest releases...

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-F...The-Fox-and-the-Hound-2-Blu-ray/23803/#Review

and people all over the forums are trashing it because it comes with the cheapquel.

I understand the complaints RE: PQ, but complaining about the inclusion of the "straight to video quality sequel" seem petty, if not moronic.

I'd never buy it in the standalone :br: form and the price for the two seems to be more on par with a single title release so- WGAS and why complain? I've never seen it, FWIW, but would like to judge for myself- as long as it doesn't give me cancer . . .

Disney definitely took a risk putting an animated tragedy on the market in the 80's, but I remember seeing it as a little tike and appreciating it without being emotionally scarred for life, it's not like it's Watership Down (why did you rent this Mommy why? The RABBETZ be dead!). I liked the first one, granted the early 80's were not kind to Disney and this one of the better titles from that period.

More on topic:
Fry's lists their price as $19.99 for the :br: two pack.
They are supposed to take MFC coupons, but it's YMMV IME.
Perhaps good for a price match if your skipping "Mars."
Amazon price matched Best Buy's prices
Hm. At that rate, I might just keep my FatH Amazon pre-order after all. The more I think about it, the more I think I don't need to own Mars Needs Moms.

The clincher for me, I think, was the blu-ray.com review:

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Mars-Needs-Moms-3D-Blu-ray/23800/#Review

The reviewer talks about the movie directly in terms of Berkeley Breathed's work, and how much of a disappointment it is based on that. That's pretty much thrown me over the edge of not needing it.

Disney should be slapped in the face for that pricing. While the movie was great, it's only 69 minutes long. No way is it worth even 23.99 post coupon.
Disney should be slapped in the face for that pricing. While the movie was great, it's only 69 minutes long. No way is it worth even 23.99 post coupon.
It will more than likely drop further before it actually comes out. Amazon always seems to start their Disney pre-orders high, and then lower them to price match Best Buy or Target.

I'm really hoping that they put the classic Winnie the Pooh movie out on blu-ray at the same time. Then hopefully we'll see some kind of deal for buying both, in addition to the coupons.

Hrm. FYI for those looking at buying Fox and the Hound and Mars Needs Moms, this image on blu-ray.com makes it look like the $8 off for buying both is from a coupon attached to the front of the Mars Needs Moms slipcover:

http://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...needs-moms-august-9-2011-a-2.html#post5041158

If that's the case, then you might have a hard time using both that and the web coupons, as they'd probably both be considered manufacturer's coupons.

Well, that's a certainly a wrinkle.

Another $8 when buy 2 with sticker. I wonder that will stack with $8 target promo and 2 $5 coupons from manufacturer.

$27.99 MNM 3D
-$5 MFR CPN
$19.99 FOX (pm Frys)
-$5 MFR CPN
-$8 Target Promo
-$8 Sticker
Total: $21.98 or $10.99 each

Mine would be $34.78 after post-tax then $24.78 after manufacturer coupon.

I don't know about any release schedule, but I can say for a fact that it has been restored in HD within the past year.
I don't know about any release schedule, but I can say for a fact that it has been restored in HD within the past year.
source?

also Pooh is as high as it is because that's how amazon always has them at first. They'll match target/best buy prices when the time comes.
Another $8 when buy 2 with sticker. I wonder that will stack with $8 target promo and 2 $5 coupons from manufacturer.
Just a guess, but I would suspect that the sticker is what Target is referring to as the promo. I doubt they'd do a separate one along with it. Regardless, like I said, this sticker would probably be counted as a manufacturer's coupon just like the web coupons are, and most stores (Target included) won't let you apply multiple manufacturer's coupons to a single item. Great if you can manage it, but I wouldn't go in expecting that you're going to be able to triple-dip (or, well, quadruple-dip, since you're talking about PMing too) the discounts.

Also, damn, Fox and the Hound is $19.99 at Fry's? I really wish we had those around here. I see the price is listed on the website too... Going to try reporting it to Amazon, though I doubt they'll match it. Here's the link for anyone else who wants to try:

Yep. I did that cheaper price report to Amazon when I posted the deal on page 49.

if you work for disney I might have to cry...

also I doubt that the $8 promo that Target mentions is the sticker. When Monsters Inc and Up came out way back when, they had the $10 (?) promo when you bought both and there was ALSO a sticker on the case but it came off automatically iirc.

That sticker looks suspiciously like those peelie coupon stickers. I have a bad feeling about it being a manu coupon.

M

And if it's manufacturer's coupon, there are few places you could use the two $5 Disney coupons AND this one that seems to be on some packages... at least in my experience. Definitely YMMV on that one.

I want the fox and the hound but not as much as previous disney releases. I don't want mars needs moms. These prices are not good. I will wait for price drops. I've noticed a trend in stores of some of the newer disney releases dropping in price and if fox and hound doesn't drop, I don't care that much. If target has 8 dollar peelie that scans through with the other 2 coupons and there is another 8 off, I will have to think about it

So any reports? Success? Failures? Is the $8 discount via the MFC on the sticker? I GOTSTA NOOOO! Seriously, BBy and Target are in opposite directions. I need to save gas.

Just stepped out of target. price match failed because she told me that if I were to price match I wouldnt get the $8 off but instead just get the $4 price match difference. so target is still the better option. looks like they're cracking down after monsters Inc/up fiasco. there is NOT a peelie manufacturers coupon on Mars needs moms. its automatically taken off. $5 coupons are fine. total was $40 and change out the door. if you got the pm + coupons + $8 off from Amazon you're set. otherwise $40.xx after tax for me here in nj at target

Thank you for the clarification, I appreciate it.

not a problem.

so to clarify (since I typed the other post on my phone after I got out of the store), the woman told me that I wasn't able to price match best buy because it would negate the $8 off for buying both.

my receipt looks like...

BD2 MARS NEE $29.99
MFR COUPON $5.00-
BD2 FOX AND
MFR COUPON $5.00-
---------------------------------
PACKAGE SUBTOTAL $54.98
BD2 FOX AND PROMO $8.00-
===================
PACKAGE TOTAL $46.98
---------------------------------
SUBTOTAL $36.98
T = NJ TAX 7.0000% ON $46.98 $3.29
TOTAL $40.27
---------------------------------
TOTAL SAVINGS THIS TRIP
$31.00

when she showed me her computer screen it showed as $8 taken off FatH so FatH was $16.99 (as she was scanning them).

looks like they're doing something different to avoid giving things away for cheap... like I said, especially after Up/Monsters Inc. for $7.xx

Summary:
-$8 promo comes off automatically.
-Can't price match best buy. (apparently some people are reporting success on pming, ymmv)
-$5 manufacturers coupons work fine.

EDIT:

also, still kind of kicking myself for cancelling my amazon order and not just trying to get the extra $8 off... oh well, its $4 plus tax lost... I guess I'll live :(

got mine for $25 for mars 3d and fox and the hound I got them to price match best buy and instead of making mars 3d 27.99 they price matched it to $19.99

Up here in Canada the prices are higher, but I was able to use the $8 coupon on Mars Needs Moms and the two $5 coupons at Wal-Mart. $29.99 + $29.99 - $8 - $5 - $5
